There's an extra coat of hot wax on Pixar's vibrant, NASCAR-influenced comedy about a world populated entirely by cars. Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) is the slick rookie taking the Piston Cup series by storm when the last race of the season (the film's high-octane opening) ends in a three-way tie. On the way to the tie-breaker race in California, Lightning loses his way off Route 66 in the Southwest desert and is taught to stop and smell the roses by the forgotten citizens of Radiator Springs. It's odd to have such a slim story from the whizzes of Pixar, and the film pales a bit from their other films (though can that be a fair comparison?). Nonetheless, Cars is another gleaming ride with Pixar founder John Lasseter, who's directing for the first time since Toy Story 2. There's the usual spectrum of excellent characters teamed with appropriate voice talent, loads of smooth humor for kids and parents alike, knockout visuals, and a colorful array of sidekicks, including a scene-stealing baby blue forklift named Guido. Lightning's plight is changed with the help of former big-city lawyer Sally Carrera (Pixar veteran Bonnie Hunt), the town's patriarch Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), and kooky tow truck Mater (Larry the Cable Guy). The Incredibles was the first Pixar film to break the 100-minute barrier, but had enough story not to suffer; Cars, at 116 minutes (including some must-see end credit footage), is not as fortunate, plus it never pierces the heart. Trivia fans should have bonanza with the frame-by-frame DVD function; the movie is stuffed with in-jokes, some appearing only for an instant. Ages 5 and up. --Doug Thomas

Great kids movie.......2007-09-14
Bought this for my nephew for his birthday and he loves it. It's a nice family movie though also as my husband, sister and her husband love it as well.
Another Great Pixar Flick.......2007-09-09
Pixar has a knack for churning out movies that are great for kids, but also amusing enough that adults can enjoy them too. Cars is another great example of this.
As well, I recommend that you check out the special features and the mini documentary on Route 66. Fascinating tale of a bygone era that inspired a lot of the art of the movie.
Can't Say Enough Good Things About This Animated Gem.......2007-09-09
Wow, this was fantastic! As I was watching it, I asked myself, "Is this the best animated movie I've ever seen?' I think the answer is "yes," at least at the time I viewed this.
After watching "The Polar Express" last year and seeing the most beautiful visuals and fabulous sound, I thought it might be awhile before anything topped that, but this movie beats it. That's because it's equally beautiful, color-wise, and more entertaining because of the excellent humor. The humor isn't just a bunch of funny lines; it's also funny sights on screen from the cars' "faces" to a lot of clever material in the background. There is so much to see that multiple viewings, I'm sure, would catch new things each time.
The characters are varied and the kind you care about, or want to find out more about, all of which translates into scenes which continually keep your interest.
The message is a nice one, too, and not delivered in any heavy-handed manner, either. Having a team to work with, people to be there to help and be helped, is better than going alone in life. Thy didn't beat us to death with it, but that is the unmistakable message in this story.
As a final note: don't turn this off when it's over; stay with the ending credits because there are some really funny comments, mostly by John Ratzenberger .
Pixar's Best Film to Date..........2007-09-04
With thew somewhat dissapointing "Rattatouille", you may find yourself wondering "Does Pixar still have magic? Or are they being eaten by the Disney Moster?" It is a legitimate question, and one that I will answer with one word: CARS.
You may find yourself scratching your head in confusion because I say it is Paxiar's best to date, which would mean it is better than the "Toy Story" films and "Finding Nemo". The reason this claim has been made is because although "Toy Story" and "Finding Nemo" were amazing, "Cars" succeeds on a few ways that those movies do not.
Let us start with a synopsis. This movie has an extremely simple premise; a race car with the name "Lightning McQueen" (voiced by Owen Wilson" is living life in the "fast lane". He is letting life pass him by so that he can be the youngest car to ever win a Piston Cup. He is on the brink of winning it when by accident he winds up in a redneck town called "Radiatory Springs". It seems to have frozen in time, and after Mcqueen tears the roads to shreds he is sentenced to community service, and well, these simple minded people of course teach him the point lessons he has failed to learn up to that point.
The story on paper sounds mundane, but it is the visuals that are stunning (even by Pixar's standards) and the characters that bring this tale to life. What makes this movie so good is that it will touch your heart, and remind you that there is more to life than trying to succeed, and that sometimes slowing down and just taking a drive to look at the scenery is a more satisfying than winning another trophy. It is the kind of movie that children and adults alike can enjoy. It has funny and animated characters for children like "Tow Mater" (Voiced to perfection by Larry the Cable Guy), more serious characters like "Doc" that is embittered, and sober-minded.
While most these characters or characters like them are in other Pixar movies, that are just not as well fleshed out as they here. Even if we cannot agree with me on this, we can agree that the visuals here are so amazing that you will forget you are watching a "cartoon". This is one animated movie that will stand the test of time fifty years down the road and will be considered a great classic as well as a milestone in computer animation.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!!
God Bless ~Amy

Pile together a blue-ribbon cast, a screenplay high in quirkiness, and the Sundance stamp of approval, and you've got yourself a crossover indie hit. That formula worked for Little Miss Sunshine, a frequently hilarious study of family dysfunction. Meet the Hoovers, an Albuquerque clan riddled with depression, hostility, and the tattered remnants of the American Dream; despite their flakiness, they manage to pile into a VW van for a weekend trek to L.A. in order to get moppet daughter Olive (Abigail Breslin) into the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant. Much of the pleasure of this journey comes from watching some skillful comic actors doing their thing: Greg Kinnear and Toni Collette as the parents (he's hoping to become a self-help authority), Alan Arkin as a grandfather all too willing to give uproariously inappropriate advice to a sullen teenage grandson (Paul Dano), and a subdued Steve Carell as a jilted gay professor on the verge of suicide. The film is a crowd-pleaser, and if anything is a little too eager to bend itself in the direction of quirk-loving Sundance audiences; it can feel forced. But the breezy momentum and the ingenious actors help push the material over any bumps in the road.-- Robert Horton

Description
Take a hilarious ride with the Hoovers, one of the most endearingly fractured families in comedy history.
Father Richard (Greg Kinnear) is desperately trying to sell his motivational success program...with no success. Meanwhile, "pro-honesty" mom Sheryl (Toni Collette) lends support to her eccentric family, including her depressed brother (Steve Carell), fresh out of the hospital after being jilted by his lover. Then there are the younger Hoovers?the seven-year-old, would-be beauty queen Olive (Abigail Breslin) and Dwayne (Paul Dano), a Nietzsche-reading teen who has taken a vow of silence. Topping off the family is the foul-mouthed grandfather (Alan Arkin), whose outrageous behavior recently got him evicted from his retirement home. When Olive is invited to compete in the "Little Miss Sunshine" pageant in far-off California, the family piles into their rusted-out VW bus to rally behind her?with riotously funny results.
Customer Reviews:
Little Miss Sunshine Dazzles.......2007-09-06
Little Miss Sunshine is the Oscar-nominated comedy starring Abigail Breslin, Greg Kinnear, Steve Carell, and Alan Arkin. It's the American family road-trip movie for the current generation. There was a lot of hype last year about this little-movie-that-could, directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, and none of it was undeserved. Now on DVD, this film never ceases to entertain and delight.
The eccentric Hoover family from Alberqueque rallies around their awkward young daughter, Olive, who has been invited to compete in the "Little Miss Sunshine" pageant in California. Mom, Dad, daughter and son, along with Grandpa and Uncle pile into their old yellow VW bus, which has seen better days, and go off to help Olive chase her dream of being a beauty queen. The cast is an impeccable ensemble of Hollywood's relative newcomers and veterans, and legend-in-the-making Steve Carell, steals several scenes as Uncle Frank, the suicidal, homosexual Proust scholar. Young Abigail Breslin really shines, though, and even earned an Oscar nod for her unforgettable performance.
Little Miss Sunshine seems mildly humorous, with spots of black humor and somber heart-warming moments, for the first three quarters of the film. Then suddenly, without warning, it is uproariously funny, and stays that way until it fades to black. When the film was first released to theaters, the audience would invariably be falling out of their seats, crying and laughing, as little Miss Breslin performed her "talent" in the pageant. It truly is charming and warm and you do really fall in love with the characters, but the film offers so much more than just family dysfunction. It's also a sharp satire of child beauty pageants. The last scene, at the pageant, is the funniest scene in any film released last year.
The only thing that drags this little gem of a film down is the writing, and even that is easily overlooked. But something about the way writer Michael Arndt set up each character for a rise and fall came off as a little cheesy. It seemed just a little too much, especially when Dwayne, played by Paul Dano, found out he was color-blind. In the end, though, fifteen minutes into the film later, all is forgotten, dissolved into hysterical laughter.
Little Miss Sunshine walks the delicate line of dark humor and family comedy with such precision and passion. It's impossible to watch this film and not love it. The DVD includes four alternate endings and director commentary, and the film is just as good on the second, third and fourth viewings, as it was on the first.
This was bad, boring, and a waste of time. .......2007-08-27
This movie was a huge waste of time. The story was pointless; it was simply of little value. What good thing could be said of this movie? Nada. I was hoping for something more from this fabulously overhyped piece of junk. It's a bad movie because these people simply have no redeeming features about them. As a result, the movie seems overly contrived and without direction. Avoid this one like the plague; you'll be better off saving a few books.
Yawn. Utterly pointless.......2007-08-23
I dont get the hype about this film. We basically went to see if because of all the build up. I disliked it off the bat. It was kind of boring and completely disbelieving. No way in hell would anyone in their right mind do anything that happened in this film. I hate these 'dysfuntional family' type movies which never make sense and again, are not realistic in the least. I am shocked the Academy even nominated this for anything.
Great Example of the Academy's Ability to Brainwash the Populace At Will.......2007-08-23
I can't believe how people can trick themselves into thinking that watching this is an enriching and profound experience. That's what scares me the most about this film. That millions of people are going to go out and search for similar films in an attempt to recapture the "experience" that had with this one. They think this is high culture. They think this is art. They think that this was a "moving" performance by all. I can't see how this could do anything but greatly harm American society, anything but hinder attempts by folks to find genuinely meaningful films, books, art, etc. It's truly astounding they way we're just letting Hollywood dictate our lives for us.
First of all, and I'd really really like to know, could this movie have possibly been anymore cliched? A roadtrip! Gosh what an original way to carry a film! That's never been done before!
Those types of tired cliches abound in this film. The police officer with a vice, lucking your way out of a speeding ticket, the brother who comes to a realization shortly after his sister puts his arms around him, the potential embarassment that comes with purchasing pornographic magazines, forgetting to bring your child on the trip you're taking, oh and don't foget...they have car trouble in addition to all of this. MAN is all of this tired. These areas have all been run into the ground by television and cinema for the past thirty years.
Secondly, why is it when an indie film engages in the same crass vulgarity as anything commonly found on Spike TV it get's treated as "honesty" instead of what it really is? Reading some of these reviews is absolutely nausiating. I can't even believe I'm living in this coocoo-clock. What has to happen to a person to say some of the things folks have said in these reviews? Let me get it right for all of you. Under no, and I mean NO circumstances is it EVER appropriate to make light of sexual assaults on children. That is not something you joke about. How a person could ever be so warped as to find that to be something humorous is mortifying enough in it's own right, but to insert it into a film and have millions upon millions laughing along with you is enough to send any decent human being spiraling into a state of endless despair. I really don't know how anyone could ever justify the sexualization of young actresses in a movie. It's truly something I never could have even phathomed before this film came out. I can't believe what depths folks will sink to in order to defend this garbage.
This is yet another movie with an all to synical approach to life. The life advice the "lovable" old gramps gives to his grandchildren: bang as many women as possible and shoot heroin when you get older. Charming. And when this grandfather dies this family that supposedly cared so much for him (and so much for each other) is grieving so deeply at this loss that they have just enough time to drop his probably still warm corpse out of a second story window, cram it into the back of their van, and still arrive at their destination on time. What a lovely image! Only when you hold true to your message that life is ultimately meaningless can death be treated in such a superficial and disgusting manner.
Finally, why is it that vulgarity is confused with authenticity? Why is it that folks who like this film seem to think that foul language isn't really foul at all but rather "honesty," or "keeping it real" as it were? Why do you all seem to think that the inner-most depths of one's soul can be most profoundly expressed through swearing? That a meaningful expression of despair is to hop out of a van and scream the F-word out into the desert? Just utter superficiality throughout this film.
I don't know about the rest of you but I would start cutting off contact with folks who own this film. If you walk into a house and see this on the shelf leave immediately. Run far far away from this film while you still have a chance.
"Are you gonna win?".......2007-08-19
This is one of the funniest movies I have seen in the last few years. This is the result of a combination of fascinating characters, great dialogues and outstanding performances by an all-star cast. On top of that, the final scene is so unexpected and hilarious that you will be rolling on the floor laughing.
Olive is a seven-year-old girl whose hobby is to compete in pageants. She spends a lot of time practicing her routine and watching recordings of the Miss America pageant and mimicking the gestures of the competitors. She has one of the most dysfunctional and peculiar families you can think of. Her father, Richard, has created a nine-step program to transform people into winners. He is trying to get a publisher for the book, "Refuse to Lose", and the economic future of the family depends on the success of this enterprise. Her mother, Sheryl, likes to be brutally honest, feeds her family chicken out of a bucket every night and hides her smoking habit. Sheryl also has to deal with the suicide attempt by her brother, uncle Frank. Olive's grandpa also lives with the family. The old man is Olive's coach and has a drug addiction. Finally, there is the brother, Dwayne, who has promised not to talk until he is accepted into the Air Force and who idolizes the German philosopher Nietzsche.
The dialogues are so good that it is unreal. For example, the honest approach of Sheryl led to a discussion during dinner in which Frank ended up explaining about his suicide attempt. But this carried further, since one of the reasons for it was being rejected by his male lover. Imagine the faces and comments of a seven-year-old when hearing about this! During this dinner, Olive finds out that the girl she lost to in the regional Little Miss Sunshine pageant has withdrawn from the finals. Now Olive has the chance to take her place and compete for the national title. The result is a road trip to California with the whole family in an old yellow van.
There are a variety of complications during the trip and we get so see how the different members of the family react to stress. Once again, the conversations are what drive the interest, and grandpa (Alan Arkin) stands out with his incomparable sarcasm. Arkin's is the best performance of the bunch, but the other members of the cast do not lag far behind. Greg Kinnear and Steve Carell play their roles convincingly, and Paul Dano really shows us how a conflicted teenager behaves. Abigail Breslin deservedly got an Oscar nomination for her performance, and she joins the group of outstanding kids in movies, like Elijah Wood, Macaulay Culkin and Ivana Baquero. If you want to have a good time and laugh for a while there are few options better than this one. Highly recommended!

Description
Between Peyton Manning's arrival in Indianapolis and the start of the 2006 season, the Colts made six post-season appearances - and failed to reach the Super Bowl each time. But on February 4, 2007, Manning and the Colts sealed the franchise's first World Championship since 1971 with a 29-17 victory over the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI. For head coach Tony Dungy's squad, the Road to XLI saw the defense transform itself into a run-stuffing force, while Manning showed true championship mettle in a heart-stopping comeback against the Patriots in the AFC Championship game. Now with this unforgettable four-disc set, relive the Colts run with the original network broadcasts of each of their post-season games. Follow the Colts from their wins over Kansas City and Baltimore, through their epic battle with New England, to a rainy night in South Florida, where the Colts toppled the Bears to become Super Bowl XLI Champions.
Customer Reviews:
It is what it is, but it could have been more.......2007-09-11
**NOTE** This review based after watching just one of the four games in this set**NOTE**
As a long suffering Colts fan it's great to have these DVDs to remember a very special season, especially the AFC Championship game that was one for the ages. As I re-watched that game last night, I found myself cheering and pumping my fist again, even though I already knew the outcome.
That said, I was disappointed in two aspects of this DVD set.
1) While the game was broadcast in HDTV, the footage they used for the DVD set was from the standard definition, 4:3 aspect ratio broadcast. Players looked blurry on my 55" HD-TV. I'm not asking for HD-DVD or Blu-Ray version of the games, but I figure at the very least they could have used the HDTV broadcast footage to create a higher quality DVD and possibly even a 16:9 presentation for the growing number of people with HDTVs.
2) The editing left much to be desired. I would think that people ordering this set would be football purists who want to see the games as they were broadcast, but at times the editors go to a 'compressed game' style, editing out huddles, replays, etc. To their credit, they USUALLY do this reasonably well. For instance, if a team goes three and out on a relatively meaningless drive in the middle of the second quarter the time between plays magically disappears, while late in the game every second--even full time outs--is aired as is. HOWEVER, there were some very key plays in the New England game, specifically Marvin Harrison's fantastic 2 point conversion catch and Reggie Wayne's late-game, almost-fumble that DID NOT EVEN GET REPLAYED ON THE DISC! Additionally, there are times in the presentation when the commentators are cut off mid-sentence to edit out a huddle or a replay. I understand that the NFL does not want to rebroadcast Jim Nance doing an on-air commercial for Rules of Engagement or telling us that the third quarter was brought to us by Sprint, but there's got to be a seamless way to show the full game.
I give it 3 stars because it does allow me to remember and re-live these magical four games. It got those 3 stars before the DVDs even arrived on my doorstep. It failed to earn any additional stars though because of the editing and the decision to use the standard definition feed to broadcast the games.
A little disapointing.......2007-09-10
I was a little dispaointed that this is simply the 3 playoff games and the superbowl....no commentary at all. I was expecting a narrated "road to the Superbowl" not just a rebroadcast of the games...
Nice to have but where's Prince???.......2007-09-05
Overall, it's nice to have all four games that will allow me to relive one of the most exciting times for me as a Colts fan. The picture is nice and the editing is crisp and pretty clean. Each game is around 1 hour and 45 minutes long up to 140 minutes long.
Other than that, no special features. It's strictly the games with the original network broadcast commentary. However, this DVD along with the companion NFL Super Bowl XLI - Indianapolis Colts Championship DVD that was released earlier this season as well as the NFL Films - Colts - The Complete History DVD make a nice set for Colts fans.
The one glaring omission is the Prince half-time show. I really wanted to have this as well and I was under the impression from other fans that the Steeler's Road to the Super Bowl DVD included the half-time show, so I'm a little confused as to why the Colts didn't include it, unless I'm mistaken about the Steeler's DVD.
Also, the Steeler's DVD had the radio broadcasters doing the play-by-play. I wish they would have done the same for this one. I really didn't want to hear Chris Collingsworth again during the Chiefs game.
Overall, you can't go wrong with this. I just wish the Prince half-time show was included!
Road To Super Bowl..........2007-07-04
I will probably get this set since it was great especially for Payton and Coach Dungy to finally win it all. I may be the only one who thought of this, but I bought the "Road To Super Bowl XL" when the Steelers won it all. I am a huge Steelers fan and would love to see "Road To Super Bowl IX", "Road To Super Bowl X", "Road To Super Bowl XIII", & "Road To Super Bowl XIV". I am sure other football fans would like to see a Road To Super Bowl series and keep them coming every year. But for the older playoffs, it's getting hard to find a video copy. I think a nice set for each Super Bowl winner, past and present, would be a great idea!

Product Description
In this exclusive 83 minute DVD premiere, featuring brand new, never before seen content, Stewie, the maniacal baby genius, is distracted from his plans for world domination when he sees a man who looks just like him on television. Convinced that this man must be his real father (after all, how could he possibly share genetic material with the dimwitted Peter?), Stewie sets off on a cross-country road trip to find him. But his incredible journey leads him to discoveries far more vile and shocking that anything found in his diaper.

For Family Guy fans, there are no freakin' sweeter words than "Never Before Seen." A triumphant homecoming for the Griffins, Stewie Griffin is not so much a movie as it is a not-yet-aired three-episode story arc enhanced with a home-video-exclusive "red carpet premiere" prologue and an epilogue (capped, of course, with a fart joke). Family Guy's resurrection is a television miracle, and its creators have rewarded the faithful by picking up right where they left off, offending any and all sensibilities (recasting Jesus as comic magician Art Metrano), dissing the celebrity disenfranchised (Ellen Cleghorne references, anyone?), and generally taking potshots at anyone on their enemies list (Stewie breaks the neck of a reporter for Entertainment Weekly, the magazine that once called Family Guy "the Awful Show They Just Keep Putting on the Air"). The Untold Story! is a star vehicle for Family Guy 's breakout character, in which the mega maniacal and matricidal infant has a Grinch-like change of heart after a near-death experience (and a disturbing encounter with Steve Allen in Hell) and, more life-altering, discovers a football-pated man who could be his father (the truth is more shocking!). As go the gags, so goes Family Guy, and there are enough good ones here to compensate for the many misfires. The Miller-esque (as in Dennis) penchant for channeling arcane pop culture can grow tiresome. But for those who do remember the words to the Who's the Boss theme song, know (or still care) who Steve Bartman is, and are always up for "a sexy party," this will be the greatest story ever untold. --Donald Liebenson

Unfortunately..........2007-08-15
It is 3 episodes put together faking to be like a movie, but anyways, i thought it was good, but I didn't like once it came in the mail, the cover was different from the picture on here. I wanted the one with Stewie griffin, half his face showing and him saying "NEVER BEFORE SEEN!" but instead I got a boring black cover with the griffin family on it.
For the movie itself, it was funny and awesome, family guy-must see!
i was just disappointed in the cover art and how that picture lied to us all.
Um, yeah..not so much.......2007-07-30
I am a rabid Family Guy fan. I was just like you guys staying up late at night watching Adult Swim watching re-runs and laughing at each joke as if they were new. When I heard the movie was coming come I was one of the first to order. I was completely excited, told all my friends. The movie finally came.
But then I put the DVD in.
Um, yeah..not so much. It was such a disappointment. It's like having two bad Family Guy episodes pasted together, and badly. I couldn't recommend it to anyone, but if you are a rabid fan you already have it anyway.
one of the worst movies ever........2007-07-25
A full length Family Guy movie might sound like a good idea, and definitely a good financial move, considering how popular(and overrated imo) Family Guy is nowadays. But when I saw the results of this idea, I completely realized that Family Guy is not a show to make a feature film out of. Aqua Teen Hunger Force even worked better as a movie than Family Guy did. The whole thing is just 3 modern episodes tied together. And if you read my other Family Guy review, you'd know that I'm not a fan of alot of recent Family guy episodes. And many of the great flaws and negativities of recent episodes are all present in this movie. And even worse, I did not laugh even once throughout the whole movie. I laugh occasionally in every new family guy episode, but not once in this whole movie did I laugh.
I got fooled. Content new at release time, but is a 'rerun' now.......2007-07-10
I am glad this was paid for by a gift certificate. That way I don't feel as foolish for spending money on something that has been shown on TV. This was released during a time when no new Family Guy was being shown on TV. Once it returned to TV, these episodes were aired.
Buy this if you like to 'own' what you see on TV.
I must admit, it is fun to watch them with the 'adult' language soundtrack. Cartoons that swear are worth a giggle. Don't worry, they do not swear a lot.
Funny and Kool.......2007-07-06
This movie is hilarious its like as funny as the show itself like stewie goes back into time and sees he becomes a 35 year old virgin because he tried to kill a little boy by the swimming pool that 1 day.

This box-office hit from 1969 is an important pioneer of the American independent cinema movement, and a generational touchstone to boot. Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper play hippie motorcyclists crossing the Southwest and encountering a crazy quilt of good and bad people. Jack Nicholson turns up in a significant role as an attorney who joins their quest for awhile and articulates society's problem with freedom as Fonda's and Hopper's characters embody it. Hopper directed, essentially bringing the no-frills filmmaking methods of legendary, drive-in movie producer Roger Corman (The Little Shop of Horrors) to a serious feature for the mainstream. The film can't help but look a bit dated now (a psychedelic sequence toward the end particularly doesn't hold up well), but it retains its original power, sense of daring, and epochal impact. --Tom Keogh

"We Need to Make More Movies Like Dr. Doolittle".......2007-08-19
If you haven't seen Easy Rider... you should. It is a great movie. It is a bit dated now but it is still a legendary flick. I am a motorcyclist and I grew up with this movie. Most people that have seen it already will love this DVD version. But what I wanted to talk about is the added documentary Easy Rider: Shaking The Cage. This alone is worth the price of the DVD. I would have bought it and paid full price just to see Dennis Hopper, Peter Fonda, Luke Askew and the rest of the people involved talk about the movie, how it was thought up and how it was done from beginning to end. I loved this documentary and have watched it about 10 times. Peter Fonda and Hopper alone are just great and it is cool watching these guys now in their 60's talking about making this movie.
Easy Rider: Shaking The Cage... make sure you watch this if you get this DVD. It is AWESOME.
I can't believe I just discovered it.......2007-07-07
Well I'm 38 years too late but I just discovered this movie. This is not one of my most favorite movies. There really aren't any hippy movies like it. I mean you have Cheech and Chong, Half baked, and a handful of other comedies. But nothing serious, hippies weren't just bumbling morons. This portrays hippies in a real dramatic light. Let's you in their world and wanting more. I liked it and highly recommend it.
Easy Rider.......2007-06-27
This film represents myself, and my generation from the early 60's. I understand and identify with it it completely. Sometimes those timess become a little fuzzy in my memory, but a film like this brings it all back. It was actually made during that time also, with actors in it who truly felt their parts. Whenever I feel like like revisiting my 60's adventures, I watch this movie.
You'll either love it, or hate it. .......2007-05-11
This film is wildly popular with a certain type of person, but it's just as easy to find "that" other type of person who can't stand Easy Rider and see nothing positive about it. After watching this film, you will no doubt have realized that there was two main kinds of characters in this story. One was the character that was open minded, tolerant, and accepting of the world. The other type of character was hateful, close-minded, violent, and very scared of character number one and all the things that those kind of characters represent.
First off, this is what today we would call an independent film. This movie was very renegade when it came out in the market. This particular DVD has a documentary called "Shaking the Cage" inside the extras sub menu. Great documentary, and the title says it all. Hopper and Fonda showed classic American balls by making this movie, and making it in the manner they did. Can you tell whose side I'm on yet?
The photography is amazing. All of the road shots in this movie are stunning to look at, and the locations throughout the film are real, gritty, and distinctive. I imagine that even if this film would have had a huge budget, it still would have appeared to be very raw. Hopper obviously wasn't making a fantasy movie here, he crafted a very real story and placed it in the real world. This is a film that is intended to get the audience thinking, get them asking questions, and yes, probably make you a little angry. The activism that was born and raised in the 60's is still there in Hopper and Fonda's creation. These two men have always been involved in what has been called the "counter-culture" movement, and I guess this film is what made them household names for doing so.
Awesome soundtrack as well, and how could there not be. I own the double CD of this film's soundtrack, and it's just beautiful music to listen to. Again, listening to it makes me think, and it makes me ask questions about my country and my world. In my opinion, anyone who considers themselves a truly free U.S. citizen should be a thinker, and should always have a little skeptic sitting on their shoulder asking questions about what is going on in the world around them.
I think this film will stand the test of time as not only an entertaining film, but a fairly accurate historical document that covers a very turbulent and important time in our nation's social history. If for no other reason than to take a glimpse into the late 60's to early 70's, this film is worth watching. You will no doubt find yourself clearly on one side of the fence or the other about Easy Rider, there is no fence sitting. If you like it, it's brilliant, but if you hate it, it's boring hippie garbage. It is what it is.

The definitive surf movie, this 1966 documentary by Bruce Brown is beautifully shot and thrilling to see in its portrait of youthful freedom on the world's shores. Brown followed two surfers around the globe in their quest for the perfect wave, finding it eventually on a remote beach far from home. The narration by "Big Kahuna Brown" cuts through the reverence a bit, being cheeky in tone. --Tom Keogh

The title of this review sums it all up really.
You can not have a collection of surf movies with his one left out.
A surfing movie that's not really about surfing ... it's about being young.......2007-08-04
A joyous movie. This is a documentary made in the mid 60's following two surfer's as they decide to travel the world chasing the perfect wave and surf an endless summer.
The innocense of the era is breathtaking. The pair fly to Africa and begin their journey. They obviously had a very open itinerary and their openess leads to many unexpected surprises. I especially liked their surfing in the fishing village, and their willingness to share their talent with everyone there.
Sure there is a lot of corny humor, and some marginal non-pc moments, but none of it is mean and in the context of the 60's very innocent. For the 60's the cinematography is exceptional. I also liked the two main characters. They are very clean cut. It's interesting to note how special air travel was in those days. The two surfers are wearing suits on the plane! That's what you did in those days, you got dressed up to fly on a plane.
After 15 minutes you realize that you are not watching a surfing documentary, but are watching a movie about pursuing your dream without abandon that happens to have surfing in it. It's the journey that's the focus of the movie, not really the surfing. The joy of finding the unexpected, of being open to new things, and having fun. The message that it's the journey is not bludgeoned into your head either. Bruce Brown subtly weaves it into the tapestry of almost non-stop surfing footage, especially Cape St. Francis.
Some people will say that I am waxing way too poetically about this, after all it's surfing right? But I say it really isn't. We don't have enough Cape St. Francis's in our lives, but being open to it, is what it's all about, isn't it? The last line of the movie sums it up. "With enough time and enough money you could spend the rest of your life following the summer around the world, but for now the enless summer must end." Of course the endless summer does end, but maybe this will inspire you to "catch that perfect wave". I challenge anyone to watch this movie and not feel uplifted.
Perfect!.......2007-08-01
The poster is top quality and arrived super fast with regular shipping. Colors are fabulous!
You don't have to surf to like this movie.......2007-03-06
I'm not a surfer. In fact, I don't think I've ever toughed a surfboard.
But I do like the BEACH BOYS!! Anyway, the point is; you don't have to surf to enyjoy this film. I've always been interested in the sport but never got involved. Sort of an armchair surfer, I guess. This is a great film and very exciting to watch. Bruce Brown did an amazing job and the overall look of the film is great. Following the two young surfers around the world in search of the perfect wave is an interesting concept and was well executed. The scenery is great, the surfing scenes are great, and I really enjoyed this movie. So, if you are a surfer,or, like me, just a spectator, you will like ENDLESS SUMMER. I know, I'll put a TV in my bathroom, splash around in the tub and watch ENDLESS SUMMER II tonight.

...as comical today as when it was released.......2007-09-01
Bob has enough irrational and unreasonable phobias to give Sigmund Freud a headache. Bob, the main character in the film "What About Bob?," is portrayed by the hilarious Bill Murray.
Bob shows many signs of an inferiority complex. He is an unhealthy individual who is unable to cope with many realities of life. Instead of coping with inferiority constructively, Bob copes using avoidance and fear, which stops all real progress.
As depressing as it sounds, Bob is hysterical! Bill Murray's acting is topnotch. This is a must-see for anyone. All of the knee-slapping comes from Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss. Dreyfuss plays the role of Bob's increasingly angry and irritated therapist.
Before he even gets dressed for the day, Bob repeats to himself, "I feel good, I feel great, I feel wonderful." Bob lives all by himself, accompanied only by his goldfish. He is a mess. Bob tends to lose almost all mobility. He becomes stiff as a board and uses tissues to avoid contact with door handles and other things commonly used by people. While walking down the street, he continuously tells himself, "I feel good, I feel great, I feel wonderful."
Bob decides one day to see a shrink. He eventually finds himself face to face with the doctor. He says that he worries about diseases and, while in public, gets, "...dizzy spells, nausea, cold sweats, hot sweats, fever blisters, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, blurred vision, involuntary trembling, dead hands, numb lips, fingernail sensitivity, pelvic discomfort." When asked what it is that he is really afraid of, Bob replies, "What if I'm looking for a bathroom? I can't find it and...my bladder explodes." After listening to some of the doctor's comments, Bob expresses an intense need for the doctor and belief that he can help him.
Bob's multi-phobic personality drives his therapist mad once Bob starts clinging to him. His condition worsens when his therapist leaves for vacation and he is left alone. Bob becomes desperate and tracks his therapist down at his vacation home. There, his therapist's family becomes attached to him while his therapist becomes increasingly annoyed.
Aside from a little profanity, this PG-rated film is very family-friendly. It remains one of the funniest movies of all time without the use of violence or nudity. It is as refreshingly comical today as it was when released in 1991.
One of the Funniest movies I have ever seen.......2007-07-14
This movie is a classic. A psych. patient, played by Bill Murray,
follows his psychiatrist on his summer vacation. I could see this
movie over and over again and I'm still laughing every time that
I see it.
What About Bob.......2007-07-08
This is a movie you can enjoy everytime you view it. A great pick me up on the blue days.
Bill Murray's funniest movie.......2007-05-15
As good as Ground Hog Day but even funnier because it looks as if Murray and Dreyfus were typecast. Perfect movie for Murray and Dreyfus
Just Plain Silly!.......2007-05-13
Someone had recently spoke about this movie, and when I fell asleep one night, I was awakened by someone's voice yelling, "Bob! Bob! Cock-a-doodle-doo!" Needless to say, after realizing this was the same movie I had just heard about, I had to see it for myself in its entirety. You will not be disappointed!

A visit back to my childhood.......2007-09-03
I have been waiting for Space Ghost to go to DVD. As soon as I received it I popped it into my DVD player. I could watch it over and over again! Now I am waiting for The Herculoids to go to DVD.
New Point of View.......2007-08-28
My memories of space ghost seem to be better than the actual show. While I still enjoy it, the enjoyment is less than my remembered enjoyment.
Space ghost rocks!.......2007-08-26
This was one of the cartoons that made cartoon network awesome and worth watching I miss cartoons like these. They just never make them like they use to. Cartoon network sucks now and days they changed it so much that it's no longer worth watching for me. Screw cartoon network their new cartoons suck! You want cartoons from the good old days then space ghost is one of them now if they would just release a complete DVD collections of 2 stupid dogs then thats all we would probably need.
THE ORIGINAL IS STILL THE BEST!.......2007-08-11
This is the ORIGINAL series, not that coast-to-coast crap bastardization that raped our memories. The fun's all here; monsters/aliens, power bands, cool sound efx,and Gary Owen's voice. Dino Boy is pretty cool, too, predating both VALLEY OF THE DINOSAURS and LAND OF THE LOST by nearly a decade. Watch for an homage to the pterodactyl fight in ONE MILLION YEARS B.C. (which might have inspired this series in part). And there's a cool, informative documentary on the late Alex Toth and his influence on later series like BATMAN:THE ANIMATED SERIES and SUPERMAN:THE ANIMATED SERIES.So why 4 stars? Because the DVDs are double-sided discs, which means unwanted fingerprints and scratches (which were on mine but didn't affect the playing of the DVDs). Also missing, and mentioned by another reviewer, are the linking segments showing interaction between Space Ghost and Dino Boy. Otherwise, everything is intact. A must-have for fans of vintage Saturday morning superhero action toons!
A childhood favorite cartoon.......2007-08-09
This is one of my favorite cartoons growing up in the 60's. The DVD production (visual and sound quality) was excellent. The only drawbacks are 1. Dino Boy was included in the DVD's. I didn't like it then and still don't, 2. All of the episodes are not on this 2 disc set. The episode where Space Ghost fights the giant lava monster (which is in the trailer)is not included. That just so happens to be my favorite episode. All in all, a nice trip down memory lane.

From the director of Dude, Where's My Car? comes another crazed tale of two friends on a perilous quest--in this case, to eat burgers at the fast food restaurant White Castle. The pair--repressed Harold (John Cho, Better Luck Tomorrow) and freewheeling Kumar (Kal Penn, Love Don't Cost a Thing)--get extremely high and set off on the road, only to be sidetracked by skateboarding hooligans, racist cops, an inbred tow truck driver, and Neil Patrick Harris--yes, Doogie Howser, M.D. The humor is all over the map, and it would be nice if there were one female character who wasn't a caricature, but Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle has a loose, gregarious charm, and the movie's canniness about the cliches of the buddy-movie genre give it a sneaky subversive feel--just the fact that neither of the heroes is white puts a different spin on just about every circumstance. Surprisingly clever, cheerfully stupid. --Bret Fetzer

entertaining.......2007-08-19
God's Blessings: I was born in Hoboken, New Jersey. There was a shot in the movie that says "Welcome To Hoboken. This movie was filmed in New Jersey. While living in New Jersey I enjoyed White Castle hamburgers. This movie is a great comedy. I enjoy watching it on my DVD player. Thank You.
extremely funny.......2007-07-31
"Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle" is one of the funniest movies that I've ever seen. Though the jokes sometimes get a little stupid, I was amused throughout the film. Though the plot of the movie isn't very original (two stupid guys getting high and going on an adventure that features a lot of sex has been done before), I still found the film to be outrageously funny. I guess that type of plot line never gets old. I first saw this film two years ago and have seen it twice since. It was funny all three times. However, if you don't like crude and blatant humor, you probably won't like this film, since that type of humor is displayed throughout. Despite that, I love this movie and would recommend it to most people.
More commedy for men.......2007-07-13
Has anyone noticed that while women have advanced in dramas they are probably worse off than ever in commedies? Little more than playthings or opponents for men in virtually EVERY modern commedy, from Harold and Kumar to 40 Year Old Virgin, Beerfest, etc. I think women were stronger characters and got better lines in the old screwball commedies of the 1930s!!!
Asians on Drugs.......2007-06-15
Being an Asian immigrant who likes to occasionally eat at White Castle, I was interested in seeing this film. It turned out to be worse than I could have imagined. The movie is about drugs, drugs and more drugs and there is nothing funny about it. White Castle hamburgers make an appearance at the end but mostly it is drugs the Asian characters want. They smoke marijuana all the time which is not like any Asians I know. The white people in the movie are always calling Asians names but that is not like any white people I know either. In the real world, it is only the Black and Spanish that have called me names because I am Asian. I would only recommend this movie if you think it is funny to watch Asian people smoke marijuana.
Reefers and Slyders.......2007-06-03
You've got to cut independent films like this some slack given that they are produced on a low budget with relatively inexperienced actors. You've got to cut this film even more slack because it is a comedy: Even if some things seem pretty stupid, they are meant to be stupid. The problem with "Harold & Ku
