Product Description
This movie captures the Capuchin friar's intense faith and devotion, and deep spiritual concern for others, as well as his great compassion for the sick and suffering. It reveals the amazing details and events in Padre Pio's life as a boy and throughout his 50 years as a monk, dramatizing the frequent attacks of the Devil on him, as well as the persecution he suffered at the hands of people, including those in the church. Starring Italian actor Sergio Castellitto, and directed by Carlo Carlei, this is an outstanding feature film on the amazing life of this great saint.

Excellent.......2007-09-13
The story of Padre Pio was very well told in this film. It was very well made and the acting excellent. I really would recommend this film to anyone. Great stuff
Miracle Man.......2007-09-02
This was one of the best movies I've ever seen. It made Padre Pio very real, his life, dedication and suffering. It was a lengthy film but worth ever minute. I highly recommend it to any one at all intersted in the mystical side of our saints and the Church.
Just excellent!.......2007-08-23
This movie is really spectacular! I liked it from the beggining to the end. It's a master piece, I strongly reccommend it.
Stellar.......2007-08-10
A brilliant film by any standards; has become one of my top ten films ever. Performances are stellar, and even flaws in the script become meaningless within the overall scope of both spirituality and an amazingly compelling and rich story. Castellitto can not be praised highly enough. This is not a film about Catholicism, quite the contrary, but about a man intrinsically surrendered to the sacred Spirit, to Truth and to Jesus on the most intimate level we can imagine. It is a profound meditation I watch over and over.
A Powerful Performance!.......2007-08-02
Wow! This is an amazing portrayal of the great Capuchin priest with the stigmata, Padre Pio. Sergio Castellitto is absolutely compelling in this role. A great acting performance in a very challenging role to say the least! He helps us see the human side of this very holy man, as well as his incredible spiritual gifts and powerful faith, and his real love and compassion for people. It also has glorious cinematography, and an excellent music score. Very highly recommended.

Cute puppies bring health and happiness to the denizens of an Ohio hospital in Miracle Dogs. When young Charlie Logan (Josh Hutcherson) and his parents (Kate Jackson and Ted Shackelford) accidentally run into a stray Springer Spaniel, the injury is minor but the dog turns out to have cancer in one of her forelegs, which has to be amputated. To save the dog from euthanasia, Charlie smuggles her into the Cleveland Clinic, where his parents work, and keeps her in the basement with the assistance of the cantankerous custodian (Stacey Keach). But in no time the dog, now dubbed Annie by Charlie, starts wandering through the hospital, miraculously healing the patients. Hospital rules and miraculous healing collide in this adaptation of the popular children's book Annie Loses Her Leg But Finds Her Way, which is sure to warm the heart of any dog-lover. --Bret Fetzer
Customer Reviews:
Great idea, great performances, could have been great........2007-08-11
This film has a great idea and some terrific actors doing excellent acting, including Kate Jackson, Wayne Rogers, Stacy Keach, and especially newcomer Josh Hutcherson (who has since starred in Little Manhattan, Bridge to Terabithia, and several others). The idea is about a boy who has to give away some puppies, and in the meantime when the puppies (or their mother) visit hospital patients, the patients miraculously get better. The reason I only give it four stars is that the film doesn't stay focused on that idea and follow individual stories for each puppy & patient, but gets sidetracked with other characters like a doctor (Wayne Rogers) who has little to do with the main story, a janitor (Stacy Keach), and a dog catcher. These characters are fine in their own rite & well acted, but they take time away from the main theme which could have been developed more and made this a great 5-star film.
Cute Movie...Good for kids!.......2005-10-22
This movie is very cute and is especially good for kids. This is the kind of movie you can let your kids watch and not have to woory about what they are watching (if the content is inappropriate or not.)
REFRESHING PAWS.......2005-05-12
It would be very easy to dismiss MIRACLE DOGS as a saccharine-sweet unbelievable family film, but that would be rather Grinchish or Scroogish. Sure, it's predictable and filled with every movie cliche of this type of film. But it's heart is so big and in the right place, one can't help but feel a little fuzzy after watching it. The dogs are irresistibly cuddly and little Josh Hutcherson is so believable as the little boy, the movie manages to entertain in spite of its sugary delivery. I've always enjoyed watching Kate Jackson since her days on "Dark Shadows" and although she isn't given a lot to do in this film, her radiance remains. KNOTS LANDING'S Ted Shackelford and MIKE HAMMER'S Stacy Keach likewise are serviceable in their roles, and Rue McClanahan makes a convincing lonely old rich lady. I don't know if there's a lot of validity in "Zoo Medicine" but I do know from my own experience that having a pet can make an important impact on one's life, so MIRACLE DOGS at least makes that point loud and clear.
Bad and Good at the Same Time.......2004-07-27
When I saw it originally on Animal Planet, I really wanted to see it but I had plans that night so I recorded it. Most movies that I record, I keep it as a movie if I liked it. I recorded over it. It wasn't that good. It some good parts in it but not many. The plot was good but little things that were added in, just down-sized it. I thought it would be awesome but maybe that's because I own an English Springer Spaniel named Hershey. Just do yourself a favor, keep your money and buy or rent a better movie!
Great Animal Movie.......2004-01-31
My son and I really enjoyed this movie! It is heartwarming, inspiring, and spiritually thought provoking; albeit somewhat predictable at times. The really big plus is that the plot is believable and did not anthropomorphasize (give the dogs human traits/capabilities a la Stuart Little and Chiken Run)the dogs. Animal Lovers will rejoice.

TERMINALLY CUTE FAMILY FILM.......2006-05-12
This ultrasweet sequel to MIRACLE DOGS brings us two spaniels who have the miraculous ability to heal, and how they stumbled into a young boy's life. Adults may find it saccharine-heavy, but it is a good film for the family to enjoy together. A good cast consisting of Charles Durning, Janine Turner, Patrick Muldoon and an over the top Lesley Ann Warren bring some life to the pedestrian script, and all in all, should be entertaining as family viewing.

Description
Sergio Castellitto (Luc Besson's THE BIG BLUE) stars in this compelling religious biography of Francesco Forgione (1887-1968), better known to Catholic believers as the modern day saint Padre Pio. Directed by Carlo Carlei (THE FLIGHT OF THE INNOCENT), this made-for-TV film dramatizes the capuchin friar priest's intense devotion, which manifested itself in the appearance of the stigmata -- the wounds suffered by Christ at Calvary - for over fifty years. Based on the book by Renzo Allegri, the award-winning PADRE PIO deals with seeming religious miracles in a skeptical modern age and features Jürgen Prochnow (DUNE) and Adolfo Lastretti (MASSACRE IN ROME) in supporting roles.
Customer Reviews:
Padre Pio: Miracle Man - a devotional movie.......2007-06-22
This movie was soo well done!! The movie inspired and enlightened me. I was motivated and encouraged to want to read more accounts regarding this saintly man. Even if some of the facts ARE an assortment of facts and fiction- it really doesn't matter. The movie truly was indicative of what could be experienced when there is so much goodness in a soul.
A Soulful Interpretation of St. Pio.......2007-05-11
This movie, like every other fictionalized movie I can think of about a Catholic Saint or Pope, takes liberties with the facts. In this case the result is a movie that tells the story of bi-locating, miracle working, mind reading, saint with stigmata that emphasizes his humanity and humility. Given what must have been a great temptation to sensationalize, the material is handled with great restraint and with proper focus.
I liked this movie very much, and I have read several biographies. If you've read some about Padre Pio, you'll notice that many of his words are quoted in the movie although out of the original context. I thought the actor playing Padre Pio was first rate. The musical score has a kind of Morricone feel to it and it is shot with a hyper real coloration. If you approach this movie as a work of art, rather than a documentary, I think you will find it a spiritually moving and edifying experience.
My daughter Grace, who is six years old, and with my as I type this, watched this movie and wants to say that she liked it very much too.
Brought me more devotion, even though just a movie.......2007-05-04
I noticed that some reviewers were offended by some of the liberties the filmmakers took with Padre Pio's life compared to his written biographies. However, I don't think the movie was disrespectful.
Regarding the story with Cleonice Morcaldi, if it is true that he was accused of having close relationships with some of the women, then I think the way they treated this story was fair. It showed how it was possible for regular people to misconstrue their relationship, even though it was, in fact, an innocent relationship. The fact that the screenwriters showed Brunetto admitting to share the same affection as Morcaldi for Padre Pio created the sense that it was an innocent but overwhelming affection that crossed all people who met him...and not "as you would think", as Cleonice's character responds.
Another point that offends some of the reviewers is the movie's portrayal of the Church as corrupt...that even Satan is portrayed to be a Bishop. First of all, the devil is a deceiver, so maybe the choice to portray the devil as a holy man actually falls along that line. I've read in other books that the devil appears to be handsome and attractive...not like the demons portrayed in horror movies. As far as the Church being portrayed as corrupt, it is true that corruption has existed in the Church, even though it is the Church that will prevail. Just because man has been corrupt does not take away from the holiness of Christ's Church which still stands 2000 years later.
Overall, I understand the reviewers, especially those loyal to the books written about this extraordinary saint. However, I feel that watching this movie, which was beautifully shot and wonderfully acted, did not detract from my devotion to Padre Pio, and only encourages me to learn more about him. Perhaps it is no longer surprising to me that a movie, for dramatic effect, takes a few liberties and does not portray only the facts written in biographies. Like any translation, movies try to convey the core meaning, which may not be word-for-word. Other than perhaps a few factual discrepancies, the movie is very Catholic and reveals the beauty within this traditional religion, as well as the many gifts Padre Pio shared with his community and still shares with many who seek his intercession today.
A Genuine Article.......2007-04-06
Touching on key scenes of his life, 'Padre Pio, Miracle Man' transports the viewer through the saint's life. Nothing seems forced or stagnant. Sergio Castellitto is well-rounded and makes us forget that he's only an actor. Showing his tenderness and temper, and his vulnerability to enemies domestic and supernatural, this affecting drama seldom loses its footing. The supporting cast keeps it real, too. The story is structured much like 'Amadeus'. Pio tells his story/confession to a hardened cardinal, and we go back and forth from the aging saint to the portions retold of his life. Effective and absorbing.
This is not the real Pio - Read Ruffin's Bio if you want to know that.......2007-03-31
Yes the movie is "beautiful and touching" as another reviewer stated. However, it is also quite wrong. I have read just about every biography of Padre Pio published in English (and there are many) and can assure you that you must read credible biographical works before you see this film if you want to know the real Padre Pio. Then if you still want to view this movie, you can sit down and spot the outrageous errors in the movie.
Question: Why would anyone interested in learning the truth about this remarkable man watch a movie that is loaded with mistakes and distortions?
Recommended: Right here on Amazon you can order Lutheran minister Bernard C. Ruffin's biography of Padre Pio. It is an excellent way to get the facts!

Customer Reviews:
A Family Drama Starring John Ritter and Meredith Baxter .......2006-06-06
John Ritter has performed in very few family dramas; although this is a less known work of John, this is also a rare treat for all fans who have loved John Ritter and Meredith Baxter through their respective sitcoms of 1970s/80s. Most of his movies utilized his talents as comedian, but this movie illustrates that John could be a serious actor too. The movie tackles an interesting concept; if a miracle happens, is there a divine intervention or it could be explained rationally. Joe Cass played by John Ritter initially refuses to accept that this is a miracle in spite of the fact he is a dedicated family man, and a preacher of an Episcopal church. His family is less than perfect and his children's are faced with realities of life. Yet he is caring and loves his family and care about community by volunteering as a fireman. During a rescue operation, Joe witnesses a miracle when he tries to save the life a young child trapped in fire. While this miracle not only saves his own life but also brings his family together; his children become responsible and loving and the community comes to regard him as a witness to a real miracle. This is a touching drama of a man who struggles to make it all happen; keep his family together, love his church, and care about the community he lives in, and most importantly deal with the question that did miracle really happen. Meredith Baxter has provided an outstanding performance as his wife Anne who helps him get through the difficult times of the family and also help him understand that miracle did happen. Joanna Garcia (from sitcom Reba) has offered a fine performance as a difficult and out of control daughter, but grows to be a very understanding young woman, and helps her mother emotionally when she is waiting for hospital results to find out if she has bone cancer: Later this turns out to be negative. On the lesser side of the movie, it is interesting for all fans to learn that both John and Meredith attended Hollywood high school at the same time, and both had same birthdays!
Excellent Christian Movie full of miracles!.......2004-07-09
This is the story of Joe Cass, a small town Minister. Joe preaches at a church with 4 members, his family is struggeling to stay together, and he is training as a volunteer fireman. During a fire, a miracle happens to Joe, while saving a boy from a burning building, that the whole town, except Joe, believes was Jesus Christ himself. This incident blesses the town and brings them closer together... I don't want to give any more away. This is a very touching movie, and I feel all should watch this movie, Christian or not. You can't go wrong for the price. Buy it, watch it, and see for yourself.
God Bless

For family-friendly viewing only.......2007-02-23
If you like super family friendly films, Miracle Dogs Too will definitely fit your viewing bill. It's a happy, inspiring story for all ages about a young boy named Zack that finds a pair of "miracle" dogs.
Of course, there's more to the story than that. The boy just moved to a new town with his mother and sister, following his parent's divorce. The mother is working at a local nursing home and finding a romantic interest in a local doctor. The sixteen year old sister is being pursued by two separate guys (one played by Preston Jones, who manages to take the possibly innocuous character of Josh, the jock next door, and turn him into a memorable and realistic three dimensional person). Definitely keep an eye out for Preston Jones in other work. Also, Jaleel White shows up for a few scenes. (Remember him as Urkle from Family Matters?)
The DVD doesn't offer any extras, but for families looking for a feel good movie, Miracle Dogs Too is the way to go.

Product Description
Gunfighter survives his own hanging and discovers that he has the power to read people's minds.
Description
Hosted by Rod Serling
You are about to witness the apparently spontaneous manifestation of objects from thin air or, perhaps, another dimension. This particular phenomenon is only one among many attributed by his followers to a man of extraordinary mystical powers, an Indian mystic and guru known throughout the world as Sathya Sai Baba.
Some of the psychic powers reported by his followers are the ability to read minds and see into the future, to cure disease by miraculous means, to project his astral body anywhere in the world and to adopt other forms, both human and animal.
In this film you will witness events which may be unbelievable. However, try to keep an open mind, for some of this manâs feats have been captured on film, and you will see them now as they actually happened.
Customer Reviews:
Compelling.......2007-07-16
Sure, the video quality is poor (consider when it was made) But, it is still a very fascinating video to watch whether or not you believe in what you see. I personally don't see how these miracles could be faked. If you're inclined toward eastern philosophy and mysticism I would purchase the DVD.
In addition, there are first hand testimony's to Sai Baba that could not be fabricated. The description of the Near-Death experience by the gentleman in the video (I don't remember his name) is most compelling.
disappointing.......2006-10-28
This DVD was very disappointing. It claims a lot more than it has to offer. The quality is very bad and the filming at least 30 years old, when Sai Baba was still a slim guy. Most of the 'miracles' are filmed in darkness or from behind Sai Baba's back, which makes them fairly invisible. The lousy quality of the tape doesn't help much.
It's not skepticism that makes me give it one star, I certainly believe he can do weird things, but when you want miracles or just reliable information, buy something else, for this one is wasted money.
