this movie is an A man strait up. it's one of the best representing the life of the poor homegirls from the barrio. it could have been better, but those were the ways, and that's how things were in those times in the streets. two homitas down for life, then they get jumped in, then damn here comes a vato. messes it all up. here comes betrayal, hardships, and parenting. you got to run the streets and do your thing at home. it's hard in a place like that, and even harder to get out. that's the way of the world you got to do what you must to survive. just goes to show how men come and go. sometimes you got to let it go and grow up for your kids sake, and move on. head up, fight for yours, and don't let no one get you down, even if you have to go at it alone. you know. great movie, chicks all thugged out, makeups down too, great job. do recommend.

Interesting story. I enjoyed seeing this story from the young women's point of view; seeing what they had to go through. Great film.

This is a great movie for any one that wants to take a look back into old times in Great L.A. It is also very fuuny and has a lot of actors that you might recognize from these type of movies. ALL and ALL great movie and a must have in any collection.

Description

Depressing At Times.......2007-08-20

This is a depressing movie at times.

It's about this young woman who doesn't seem to have any direction in her life. She was born and raised in a small town in France but she leaves all that to find 'adventure' in the 'big city'. Her parents are heart broken about this and don't know where she is.

It's a very sexy movie at times (although not rated 'X'). I guess there's something exciting for us to see a beautiful woman who becomes desperate in life and has to go through any and all degradations to get money. Perhaps it touches that part of us that wants to forget all of the various restrictions and consequences that life places on us.

At least its exciting in a movie. When it happens in real life it is quite another matter indeed.

After being degraded in Europe she goes to New York and the process starts there. She passes out in the street from hunger.

It has a somewhat happy ending though. The guy who is twice her age that she left standing at the alter after stealing his money offers to send her a plane ticket to return.

If you call that a happy ending I don't know.

This is a good movie to watch for someone who thinks it might be fun to leave a stable and safe environmnet to go find 'excitement' in the big world.

There's a sort of side plot I guess with the private detective that the jilted groom hired to try to find her. He finds her but then sort of falls in love with her also (the term 'falling in love' being taken in the context of this particular movie). He has his own issues since his wife left him and remarried. He went over to her house and tried to rape her at gunpoint by first seducing her with an ice cream cone.

I don't think this dvd I watched has the option to hear the voices in English so I had to read the subtitles.

You'd Be Loca to Watch This.......2005-06-28

You know, I saw "Mi Vida Loca" and I enjoyed it. So when I went to rent some DVDs I saw "Locas 4 Life" and thought it would be similiar. Well, let me tell you, I was tricked. This movie is about a gang of 3 floozies and a lesbian who want to walk around NYC like they're hard or something. They're supposed to be hard core gangstas but all they do is steal incense, rob convenience stories, and rob the men that they screw. The lesbian, Toro, doesn't screw any guys at all and she's too infatuated with some chick who isn't part of the gang. Toro's crew doesn't even like her lover. In fact that's what the movie is mainly about: a lesbian romance. There was no mention of that on the back of the DVD case. What makes it worse was that I was watching this with my family and they asked me, "Why did you get this? What's up with you?" How was I supposed to know?! Anyway, Toro thought she was gangsta and could whip out a gun on the ex-boyfriend of the girl she was in love with. Toro got what she deserved at the end of the movie; you want to step into a man's world, you'll go out like one. I didn't like how the movie was shot and the only unforgettable character is Toro. If you want to learn more about female gangs, this is not the movie to watch.

Great acting but VERY low-budget.......2004-07-15

Was not expecting a lesbain story when I first saw this but I really did like it. Shot on Video somewhere in The Bronx i was shocked at how at first i was very distracted by the "video look" and the really low-budget style of shooting, but I really got hooked afetr a bit and thought it was very cool.

Libertad Lamarque.......2006-07-14

This DVD has 3 great movies of the late and great singer and actress Libertad Lamarque. For those of us who grew up watching her films, we know that the majority of her films were TEARJERKERS!
The first "ROSAS BLANCAS PARA MI HERMANA NEGRA" (my personal favorite) has to do with two friends who each have a daughter. One friend is white, the other is black. I will not ruin the movie by giving you the plot except to say that it is a very touching film so get out your hankies before watching this one.
The second film is "LA LOCA DE LOS MILAGROS". In this film she doesn't accept the death of her daughter and makes her friends believe that her daughter is alive and well in Guadalajara. When her singing career takes her to Guadalajara, everyone wants to meet her daughter.
The third film is "EL HIJO PRODIGO" is about a man who is forced to pass himself as the son of a very rich singer to gain her fortune.
A great set of Libertad Lamarque at a great price!
