I used the VHS for years. The workout is a classic.
The DVD is definitely worth it, because you WILL need to pause, some of these exercises just cannot be done 100 straight reps every time, and DVD is brilliant for that.
The production level could be better (a menu, guys, come on, even I can make one of those with the video-editing software that came free on my PC) but what counts is that this workout is preserved in digital format, and will live into the 21st century.

I was thrilled to start doing this routine again after a 15+ year hiatus. I HATE to exercise, but now that I'm 45, I know it's time to start doing something to boost energy, and eliminate poor posture. I stopped using the tape before because I ran out of living space after moving, and props to substitute for the exercises using the barre. I stumbled across the 'fluidity' infomercial and the workout was obviously based on Callanetics. I was able to purchase both the barre and dvd from Amazon for less than what fluidity is charging, and I didn't have to wait several weeks for both to arrive. Every other day is more than enough, it is too intense for daily use as a beginner. I just completed my 4th session, and feel tightening in my tummy and back already. I will alternate with Pilates for Dummies, and the Discover Bellydance trio (also purchased here) to provide variety, but this will always be the primary routine. When I'm ready, I'll move to the advanced session. It's truly the original and the best!

Well basically this is a movie about how Ash and friends encounter a Manaphy Pokémon Egg from a traveling performers. One of the people there is a Pokémon Ranger who's mission is to get Manaphy back into the sea to find the Sea Temple to protect it from the evil Phantom the Pirate who is after the Sea Crown.
The movie is pretty good, some will think it's similar to how Max & Jirachi became really close; May becomes really close to Manaphy, whom thinks May is it's mother. (kinda like Togepi with Misty)
I myself thought they could've had alot more battling in this movie since the point of Pokémon is to battle and collect Pokémon, this is why I only give it 4 stars, because it could've been so much better.

I had been using the beginning Callanetics for about five weeks and stepped up to the Super Callanetics DVD to take the next step up in my routine. Is it ever a step-up! Very challenging and rewarding! I have been using it for two weeks now and have still to master all the moves, but what a great workout! I am finally seeing some results. I would recommend Callanetics to anyone and suggest some sort of cardio workout to supplement. Great DVD with clear instructions and menus!

Based on the other reviews I was looking forward to this workout, even knowing the limitations some of the other reviews mentioned (outdated filming, etc). This didn't offer me anything new or special - the exercises here can be found in newer and more challenging Pilates and ballet-style workouts. I am now selling my once used copy here in the Amazon marketplace for someone who may enjoy this more.

This workout is not easy, but it works. My body has tightened up tremendously from Callanetics. This workout looks easy but is not for begginers. I recommend Begginers Callanetics before attempting this one.

For a workout of this type, Bar Method and Lotte Berk are much better--with safer variations on the positions, useful transitions between exercises, greater attention to stretching, and also better camera work. I came away from Super Callanetics with a few new moves, but no desire to run the whole DVD again (and, yes, chapter encoding should have been done). Sadly, this workout feels as old-fashioned as it looks. I gave it 2 stars, instead of 3, because there are better alternatives out there.

Nicely paced for one who has never exercised before. But it is not a modern view of the exercise program. The material is dated and it does not have the current dvd qualities we have come to expect. It would be better if the segments were not only longer, but if you could also jump to "scene selections" at will. It's okay and is helpful, it just needs to be updated.

I was an athlete all while growing up so when my friend first told me about Callanetics I was of course skeptical. During my first viewing of the video, my skepticism continued, thinking these little stretches that lasted for what seemed like no time at all must be one big joke. A scam for sure.
When I got up the next morning and began moving around, I started to change my mind. I could feel a gentle soreness throughout my entire body. No one specific area stood out, nor was I in pain, but I could feel very deeply all of my muscles. I continued to view and follow the tape for two weeks. My partner had noticed a change in my body too, and had seen me following along with the DVD, stretching and holding, hardly working up a sweat at all.
After a month I could continue to see changes in my hips, thighs, belly and arms. My whole body feels more loose and flexible than I have felt in years. After 3 months I am looking forward to getting in my bikini. If that is not enough, those tension headaches I used to get are completely gone. For you first-timers, be sure to start slow, it looks and feels so easy, but don't be fooled. This course of exercise specifically and intensely works your deeper muscle tissue and takes the work out of workout.

I don't feel like I am in the best of shape after having 3 children so I thought I would start with the beginning program. It was definately for beginners. If you have never exercised this could be a good place to start. I was dissappointed in how easy it was. I did like the modifications that were provided for each exercise. I have some knee problems that I was concerned about. If you are just starting to exercise and want a low impact program I would recommend this dvd.

You definitely need this dvd before going onto Callanetics 10 years younger in 10 hours. This time I weigh in at close to 200lbs and I am now 49 years of age and I managed to do these fabulous exercises. Work? You will not find better, not in my opinion.
You do not jump or run, you just stretch and tone the muscles, 'very deeply' as Callan Pickney says. The lady knows what she is talking about! It is the original and the best that is all I can say. Keep your boobs, lose the love handles, get legs to die for. It is every womans dream especially over 30! At 34 I weighed 100lbs thanks to Callanetics which I did every day but only because I had to and had time on my hands. She says 2 to 3 times a week and I beieve her. You just have to experience the feeling you get when you look fantastic! Hey, you owe it to yourself and don't let anyone tell you different! Let Callanetics be your secret weapon. Do it for you.

The family jewels series is a candid (mostly unrehearsed / unscripted)reality show featuring Gene, Shannon, Nick and Sophie (and quite a bit of Shannon's sister). Don't expect to see much of Kiss, this is Gene's show! it shows Gene and family at home, shopping, on holiday, at parties, goofing around, getting prepped for cosmetic surgery- normal family stuff - for multi millionaire families, i'm sure. it's pretty entertaining on the whole with only a few dull episodes. it has a few cringe-making moments too, with Gene embarrassing himself and his family embarrassing him too! the episode where he meets a fan is almost unbearable and he comes across as a little rude.
He comes across as a very caring and decent family man who works really hard and it makes you question just how much you think you know of Gene is possibly carefully marketed image- the number of women he's allegedly had sex with seems to increase in hundreds every time someone asks him about it!
the features on his office (inside the demon's lair) are a little disappointing- each family member shows you around in turn- but basically points out the same stuff, so you don't get to see as much as you could! the other show extra's are ok.
the bonus biography disc is the most disappointing thing about this set. not so much a biography as 'what Gene's up to this week. not much history there at all!
the bonus C.D. however is inspired. The quality makes you wonder if they were maybe recorded more recently ( he only says they were written long ago!) but the feel of the tracks is certainly 1960's. if this is a taste of the forthcoming Gene Simmons box set (Monster)it will be well worth a listen. think first solo album type of material.
overall, i was really pleased with this set and would love to see the second series on DVD! well worth a look!!!

Gene Simmons is truly a rock god, but in his home, it's Shannon Tweed that rules the roost.
While I enjoyed the Osbournes, Gene's children are a far different cry. Clean, sober, funny, and very intelligent, they're actually a joy to watch.

Loved it. It's really nice to see well balanced people that love, appreciate, and enjoy their craziness with each other. I think the most striking thing about these little episodes (having spent most of my life in schools, counselling and psychology) is how openly affectionate this family is with each other without ever crossing the "ugh" line. It is encouraging. I once heard that there are basically two reasons that people watch a TV show: 1.) They'd like to hang out with the people in the show. 2.) They become emotionally attached to one or more of the characters and want to see what happens next. This has both. This is also one of the rare shows that both my boyfriend and I have watched over and over. That's why we bought the box set: Great packaging by the way! Love it. Thanks.

Oh, I know what you're thinking: Here's a guy who thinks Seinfeld was unfunny, but his cast was hilarious.
No. At best the rest of the cast was mildly amusing (although Jason Alexander is a talented actor, he is not necessarily hilarious, hence the two stars).
Because, when it comes down to brass tacks, "Seinfeld" *was* a "show about nothing" -- in every sense of the word:
The contrived semi-plots, with choppy one-liner segments.
The cloying, annoying, ejaculatory bass riffs between shots.
Jerry Seinfeld posing as this hipster: Yeah, right, a hipster with a ridiculous bushy mullet. At best, Seinfeld was an Upper West Side Jewish version of Jeff Foxworthy. You want to know why people think Jewish men are smug, metrosexual wimpish know-it-alls? I submit Jerry Seinfeld as "Exhibit A." If a WASP played a Jew such as Seinfeld, he'd be accused of bigoted racial slurs against the Jewish people. Grating, like fingernails down a chalkboard.
Oh, and speaking of freakish hair-do's: Is there anyone alive who thinks that Michael Richards as Kramer would even inspire a single chuckle if shorn of that ridiculous Brillo-pad hair? Within three episodes, he'd have been out of the door, after having been reduced to haranguing black hecklers in the studio audience: He's a [n-word]! He's a [n-word]!
Pathetic.
And, "Elaine"?
Puleeze! She makes Gwyneth Paltrow look like Kate Winslet, she is so flat.

The stellar cast can't be beat, and Stallone is quite good as the overweight cop whose pride is on the line. Fantastic urban drama backed by an all-star cast.......2007-07-19
Cop land seems to be under appreciated now after being out on the shelves a few years, and it is truly a shame. This movie has some shock value in a couple of areas, and those dynamics were crucial for its initial success in telling a compelling, character driven story that is wrought with suspense and action. The first of these things is the performance of Sylvester Stallone as Sheriff Freddy Heflin. Despite dominating screen presence as a muscle bound brute, Stallone's character in this film is a laid back, easy going type whose big heart is often overlooked by his own shy demeanor. The writer and director of this film did a superb job and what is amazing is that it was only his second venture, the first one being the film "Heavy". James Mangold assembles an outstanding cast, which includes such great actors as Robert DeNiro, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta, Peter Berg, Robert Patrick and Michael Rappaport among others.
Cop Land centers on a town called Garrison, New Jersey that happens to have a ton of members of the NYPD living there in order to raise their families in a better, safer neighborhood. When one of their own gets caught up in a controversial shooting that leaves a trail of blood, he and others are soon suspected of some pretty high profile crimes themselves. A trail of dead cops and closed cases arrives at the desk of Moe Tilden (DeNiro) it seems all to familiar, but as the stakes of the game starts to rise, so do the doors of opportunity to advance any investigation into the case. Freddy Heflin soon realizes that nothing is as it seems in this grandiose "cop land" of Garrison, and his only key to finding answers is just as elusive to him as it is to the guys playing the law into their own hands for their own gain.
Compelling characters and intrigue all seem to come together intricately, while still keeping all points of this film strong and fresh. As far as scripts go, this one could not have been better, and it is all topped off by an excellent portrayal of a climatic ending seen through the eyes and ears of Heflin. The special features part of this "collectors edition" is a bit disappointing, and although there are some great interviews with the cast and director, I found it lacking when it comes to extra features of a "collectors edition" DVD. Regardless, Cop Land is an excellent "Urban Western" that has all the grit and style for a NY/NJ style crime oriented film.

I always felt this film deserved a good DVD edition and now we have it .
All involved with it should be proud .
The device of there being a part of town which is mostly policemen was novel , I thought .
There is a 'Western' element to it - the 'one man stands up for what's right' sort of plot device , however it is well done .
Highly recommended .

Mangold's masterpiece with an all-star cast, icluding Sylvester Stallone, Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel and Ray Liotta. Extras, deleted scenes, the whole nine yard. Very good stuff.

Every time I hear people saying that Sylvester Stallone can't act, I'm inclined to want to believe them. I think it's the dead sounding voice of his, that thick accent that he's never worked to get rid of. However, there are two movies of his where he is at the top of his game. In action films, he's the same, whether the hero or the villain. However, in comedy he is great in "Oscar" and in drama he is fantastic in "Cop Land." Filled with a cast full of high profile actors and yet a bomb at the box office for reasons unknown to me, this movie only suffers from a touch of melodrama.
Written and directed by James Mangold (Heavy), Cop Land is set in Garrison, New Jersey, just over the George Washington Bridge from New York City. Garrison is populated by the NYPD's most questionable, with the powerful, mob-bought Ray Donlan (Keitel) as its unofficial mayor. Among Ray's minions are his main henchman Jack Rucker (Robert Patrick) and the coke-fried Gary "Figs" Figgis (Liotta), who was brought into the inner circle after his partner died in an incident that brought Internal Affairs sniffing around. Watching over Ray's little slice of paradise is Sheriff Freddy Heflin (Stallone), a wannabe cop who was kept from the big-city force by a bum ear. With a badge that is little more than a vanity plate, Freddy's main duty is turning a blind eye to the shady dealings of Garrison's most prominent citizens. When Murray "Superboy" Babbitch (Michael Rapaport) kills two joyrides in what he thinks is self-defense but isn't, his compatriots first clumsily attempt to save his job by performing a quick-and-dirty plant, but that quickly goes wrong and in a deft move, Lieutenant Ray Donlan (Harvey Keitel), uncle, spirits him away in a phony suicide. But this does little to defuse the powder keg, and as Internal Affairs agent Moe Tilden (Robert De Niro) moves in on Garrison but admits that the town is beyond his jurisdiction in the strictest sense, Freddy is forced to make a series of decisions that lead him to admit to himself, finally, that something is seriously wrong with this unsupervised town and that as sheriff, he's the one who's been falling down on that supervisor's job while facing a hard decision with his precinct.
While Cop Land is nothing too astounding, it is a good, solid drama, with a climactic scene that's worth the admission alone. The extra pounds Stallone put on serve him well for this part. In his past roles, his physique, along with his droopy-lidded, thick-tongued manner, has made him untouchably macho. With that taken away, Stallone is vulnerable. He stoops over his gut and walks uncomfortably -- a nice take for a character who's spent his life being pushed around. No matter how many shots of him staring dreamily over at New York or how many shots of him blanking out to a stuck-in-a-rut Bruce Springsteen song, it's the way in which he moves that nails this part for him. And while this role is being set forth as proof that Stallone is a serious actor, and has also maintained this in "Rocky Balboa."
Cops for real........2007-05-25
Discounting the stars in this film, I believe that it exposes a common human failing of authority and corruption. We need to be reminded that not only law enforcement but elected officials as well are prone to the very same desires and needs that we experience. Their office and the esteem we bestow on them, is all irrelevant as they are victims of the same human frailties that they prosecute. This film functions as an exposure of our common traits, illnesses, weaknesses and pliability when faced with dilemas.

This is a complete workout program that fits perfectly into a busy schedule. Twenty minutes in the morning and twenty minutes in the
evening and you will soon see a huge diffence in your overall body
tone. These exercises look tame but believe me they are not for the
meek! I would recommend this product to anyone.

I did this excerise back in the 80's when I was a teenager. I think it is easier for me now in my 40's. I don't split it up in am and pm because I'm not a morning person so I just do it all in the evening. I actually feel worse if I don't do this at least 5 days a week. But does it work? YES! My husband even commeted and he never does that.
Worth every penny.
Callanetics AM/PM.......2007-03-19
Easy to use. After using the DVD for two or three times, I felt more energy and my body felt firmer.
Good short Callanetics routines, but DVD lacks chaptering.......2006-08-10
I first tried Callanetics for via the original 60-minute program. I liked the short, targeted, effective movements, but because it was difficult for me to find time to do the entire workout, I decided to give the AM/PM tape a try. The two 20-minute workouts on this DVD include a majority of the exercises from the original video (some have been left out). Although the workouts are designed to be used in the morning (energizing) and in the evening (relaxing), the inclusion of moves in either the AM or PM routine seemed arbitrary to me. In addition, I found the 20 minute format to be a bit TOO short for my liking; just when I was starting to feel like I was getting a good workout, it was over. For some people, however, this time period might be ideal, and these workouts do offer a good introduction to the Callanetics method. As always, Callan is a gentle, supportive, and encouraging instructor who constantly reassures her students that they can go at their own pace. Callanetics is a great alternative exercise style to incorporate into your fitness routine, and if you are pressed for time, these workouts offer an ideal solution.
Already had the Basic on VHS and glad I added this DVD.......2006-08-04
I was also disappointed that this DVD didn't have chapter selections but it really isn't that hard to scan forward to the PM exercises and rewind for a couple of seconds. It's still a great workout - the best I've ever tried and sometimes I feel like I've tried them all. Thankfully I already had a basic knowledge of the original Callanetics from highschool so this was just a condensed version. A tip for anyone interested: I've learned it is easier for me to follow the DVD for a couple of weeks, write the exercises down, and then do them in my living room while watching whatever I want on TV. This keeps the cheesy 80s costumes and hairdos from being annoying, keeps me from making excuses for not do the exercises since I can do them anytime, and keeps the lack of DVD features from bothering me since I now use the DVD only occasionally as a refresher. This DVD may be a bit redundant if you have the basic workout but I like the way the exercises are broken up and believe me after the PM program I am very relaxed and more than ready to go to bed (which is heaven since I am a bit of a night owl/insomniac). I probably wouldn't recommend this if you are just starting out though, it doesn't seem to be a program for whipping your body into shape so to speak like the basic program; but it is great if you are in okay shape and want to tone up or if you are in good shape and just want something like yoga that you can do every day or other day to keep you in shape and feeling good.
