My son wanted this move since the first time he saw it at a friends house. We looked everywhere for it and couldn't find it, but we found it here. He watches it over and over, and spends the entire time laughing his little head off. This is a must have for kids.

My Favorite Animated Disney Movie.......2007-06-07

I used to watch this on VHS with my sisters when we were younger. We watched it in the theaters and then forced our parents to buy us our own copy, which we watched all the time. I purchased this DVD last year and I STILL love it 12 years after its initial release.

I definitely thought this movie was funnier when I was a kid, but even now I think it's just as enjoyable as it was then. I love the songs-- we used to sing along when we were younger. I even bought the soundtrack!

And I have to admit, I think that this is one of Disney's best animated features. Better than The Emperor's New Groove (which I also loved), and even any of their computer animated offerings, including The Incredibles and definitely better than the awful Cars.

Surprizingly awesome.......2007-03-10

I had forgotten how awesome this movie is- even for a grown-up, like me. It could do without all the songs (it was made before Disney wisely decided to ditch all the cheesy singing,) but it's brisk, double-layered humor more than makes up for it. Kids will think the gags are sufficiently silly. Adults will pick up on the nearly-sarcastic, nearly risque dialog, so rare in Disney animated movies. Plus, Big Foot dancing to 'Stayin' Alive' is just freaking hilarious.

Basically, it's just a Disney movie. But it's a *great (and severely under appreciated) Disney movie.

Who's your favorite possum?.......2007-03-06

The title of my review is one of the most memorable quotes (to me, at least) in this movie. Maybe I won't remember the plot 20 years later, but I'll be able to shout "Who's your favorite possum?!" at my sister and she can respond, "Lester!" It was an amusment park (looked kinda like a tavern) that Goofy and Max went to on their 'trip'. I like the song they sing in the beginning when they are in a car.

A definite classic.......2007-02-27

I used to watch the VHS copy of this with my son when he was very little. Now that he is 13 we still enjoy watching this movie. It has a great story and is very funny. A lot of parents could learn how to be a better parent by watching this movie.

Offensive language.......2007-09-11

My granddaughters and I were enjoying the DVD together until one of the younger boys told his older brother to go to hell. I do not think that this is appropriate for young or old alike to listen to. I was very disappointed because I had thought that the movie would be a good example for kids to see and teach them that life has disappointments, but that they can overcome them. It's sad that the producer had to insert that into a movie that otherwise seemed to be good. What happened after that episode, I have no clue because we immediately took the DVD out.

a keeper.......2007-06-17

This type of story is a difficult one to pull off, but this movie does it. Not a dull moment. Things keep changing all the time. The emotional tension remains tight all the way through, yet the movie never becomes oppressive. There are a number of relieving moments of achievement, of aid from other people, of being befriended by strangers. The characters, especially the father, are all realistic. No stereotypes here. The father is a real horror. Unfortunately, such people are not only real but not uncommon.

Rick Shroeder does an excellent job with the acting and with the Georgia accent. Not a trace of his natural southern California accent comes through in any of the scenes.

Good movie for the whole family. Worth watching again.

WONDERFUL movie starring Ricky Shroeder about an older brother trying desperately to hold his siblings together as a family, despite an alcoholic father who tries to defeat him at every turn, and greedy people who try to take advantage of his good fortune when things start to turn around. Ricky portrays an older teen with just the right mix of confidence, confusion, exhaustion and frustration. He definitely makes you believe in the character.

I purchased this movie after my son had read the book it was based on "Sign of the Beaver" for his English class. It did have some differences but was very good. I would reccommend this as a nice family movie to watch.

Keeping the Promise is a movie based on the children's novel, Sign of the Beaver, by Elizabeth George Speare. I'm a teacher, so I have my students read the book, then we watch the movie and compare the two. It is a good family movie with a positive message. My students enjoy watching it every year!

What I loved about this book is that there are so many details so you know what you are reading. You can really visualize the story and have so many adventures reading this exciting new book.
