X-Men: The Last Stand is the third installment in the popular superhero franchise, and it's an exciting one with a splash of fresh new characters. When a scientist named Warren Worthington II announces a "cure" for mutant powers, it raises an interesting philosophical question: is mutant power a disease that needs a cure, or is it a benefit that homo superior enjoys over "normal" human beings? No surprise that Magneto (Ian McKellen) and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants resist the idea that they need to be cured, and declare war on the human race. But it's a little tougher for the X-Men, led by Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Cyclops (James Marsden), and Storm (Halle Berry). If you're Rogue (Anna Paquin), for example, your power means you can't even touch your boyfriend, Iceman (Shawn Ashmore). To compound matters, someone previously thought dead has returned, and might be either friend or foe.
With director Bryan Singer having moved on to Superman Returns, the franchise passes to the hands of Brett Ratner (Rush Hour), whose best work is done in the big action sequences such as a showdown between mutant armies. But it's difficult to manage the sheer volume of characters when adding longtime comic-book stalwarts such as Beast (Kelsey Grammer) and Angel (Ben Foster), and one character in particular deserved better than an off-screen dismissal. And fans of the original Dark Phoenix comic book story might be underwhelmed by the movie's resolution. X-Men: The Last Stand is presumably the last film in the series, but the ambiguous ending leaves possibilities open. Look for the two writers most responsible for making the X-Men who they were, Stan Lee and Chris Claremont, in early cameos. --David Horiuchi

X-Men 3.......2007-09-08
This would be a good movie IF it were not called X-Men. They have completely sabotaged the X-Men storyline from the comics. They came up with new stories, which is sometimes ok, but not here. Jean Grey is barely used, Storm looks weak and undecisive, and Scott, why did they even have him there? THe movie left too many things unexplained, changed the X-men Universe and forgot to give some depth to the characters. This is just an action film and only that. Only Wolverine saves the day and the movie.
For the Child in All of Us.......2007-09-03
Rarely does a movie make me so irritated. After all, it's just a movie. Call me insecure but I resent having my intelligence so obviously mocked. I'm glad I watched it on HBO for the price of cable. The thought that I might have paid to sit through this in the theater is just depressing. A thrown together live-action cartoon movie without depth, style, substance or a whit of genuine insight. A thinly veiled children's movie & two hour toy commercial. At least the first two X-Men were simple-minded mildly intriguing escapist fun. More intelligent than post-Connery-pre-Daniel Craig James Bond but less so than the Spider-Man movies. X3 is just money grubbing dreck that insults it's diehard fan base most of all. There is absolutely no indication that the filmmakers even tried to make a good movie.
I don't know what aspect of the movie I find the most tiresome. So much to choose from. Maybe the indifferent mailed-in acting by otherwise talented actors (McKellen, Stewart, Jackman, Berry, Paquin, etc.) Purhaps the silly, illogical, inconsistent, scribbled down script filled with convenient but insupportable leaps in logic is the most grating. The banal grade school dialogue and emotions are a good candidate. So is the lack of character development. To say the pacing is incompetent is to imply the director, scriptwriter or editor even tried at all. The poorly choreographed and rather boring action scenes were particularly irritating because the previous two X-men did, at least, have exciting action. I think what bothers me the most is the fact that it cost millions and millions to make and was made without the slightest respect for it's audience. That's enough. I think I've exercised my spleen & made my contempt plain enough. I feel much better now.
Quite good, finally..........2007-08-31
I was disgusted by the cliched and obtrusive politics of the first two X-men flicks. I almost felt like identifying with Magneto. But the action, when they got to it, was impressive and left you wanting for more. Someone wrote here at Amazon that this third instalment was less politics and more action. I don't remember whether the person considered that as a compliment. But it seemed like a compliment to me, so I picked up the flick. I was quite pleasently surprised. Or let's say my hopes were fulfilled. Great action, and no obtrusive catering to trendy liberals. Way to go, I say. Every film like this means a little bit more entertainment from Hollywood, and a little bit less propaganda. I only wish they had been more brutal with Logan at the climax. They could have shown some of his adamantium skeleton there. Remember the end of Terminator II? A good dramatic opportunity missed, a good allusion opportunity missed, too. The climax wasn't quite as climactic as it could have been. Wolverine's healing mechanism seemed to be a bit too powerful there for a while, and then it was all over, the climax, I mean.
Nevertheless, heartily recommended.
A Hottt One...BUT..........2007-08-28
For the record, the X-Men trilogy is among my favorite superhero movie collections. X-Men and X-Men United were dreams come to life...as was X-Men:The Last Stand. However...as a comic book purist,I have to agree with some of the other posts and say that X3 was a bit disappointing. Not that the action wasn't there, not that the suspense and the romance weren't there, definately not that the special fx weren't there...but I wasn't feeling the way major characters got killed off in the end, and even more agitating is the way the film ended in light of the fact that there's supposedly NOT going to be an X4. Questions are left unanswered about Phoenix and the characters she disintegrated and all we're left with is anticipation for the Wolverine spin-off and the rumored Magneto spin-off to the X-Men trilogy. Could've been a lot better.
Utterly, utterly dissapointed.......2007-08-23
I was shocked at how ridiculous this movie was. I loved the 2nd one and thought this would be the icing on the cake, but I was actually left speechless at the end. I could find nothing to say since I was so shocked at how stupid this movie was. It was a garbled mess and felt pointless. I truly was hoping to love it but instead I got the complete opposite.

Description
An epic in the spirit of THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, this widely acclaimed motion picture is a meticulous recreation of the turbulent era of Jesus and the events that changed the course of history! Narrated by Golden Globe nominee Christopher Plummer (Best Supporting Actor, AMERICAN TRAGEDY, 2000), it's the bold and powerful story of Jesus as told by his disciple John. The best-loved but least understood of the gospels, John presents a uniquely human portrait of courage and passion encompassing Jesus' entire three-year ministry, the final years of his life. Intimate and reflective, THE GOSPEL OF JOHN offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the incomparable life and times of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel of John.......2007-09-14
This is a true awesome movie!!!!! The movie protrays the exact writing of The Book of John. The actor who protrayed Jesus did an outstanding job. He truly captured a side of Jesus that was more human. For as we know, Jesus was born here on as a human. He walked, talked, and lived as one of us. I first saw this movie on TBN and I just had to own it so I could see it over and over again. My six year old even loves it. She has watched it several times already.
Not Faithful.......2007-09-12
The opening credit purports that the story is "faithful to the Scriptures." Well, almost. The writer, producer or director must have been influenced by the Dan Brown heresy that Jesus had a girl friend, because the same attractive woman is displayed several times and even sits at the last supper. Show me in any of the New Testament Scriptures where a woman was at the Last Supper with the 12 Apostles. Well, there wasn't any, because it would have been mentioned if true. As soon as I saw this, I stopped watching it. Jesus was without sin, for all you almost-Christians, and as the Son of God bringing salvation to Mankind, had no reason to marry or have a girl friend. Nowhere in the Scriptures, NT or OT, does it mention or allude to this. If you want the true story, read the Synoptic Gospels and the Scriptural Gospel of St. John. Two stars is a gift because of the production values otherwise.
The Gospel of John - Two thumbs up.......2007-09-06
A great film overall. Taken directly from the new testament text, this dramatization provides a greater insight to the gospel of John as found in the new testament. This is a great companion to scriptural study for Christians as well as an accurate portrayal of Christian beliefs as articulated in the new testament for non-Christians.
excellent and accurate.......2007-07-31
This was a very accurate portrayal of the Gospel of John as it is written in the Bible. This was a great movie and will be a great teaching tool for any Sunday School or Bible Study group.
VERY GOOD DVD.......2007-07-16
I bought this DVD a few years ago. If you are a devout Christtian( like me), you will enjoy this movie. It follows the BOOK OF JOHN word-for-word.

The Alien Quadrilogy is a nine-disc boxed set devoted to the four Alien films. Although previously available on DVD as the Alien Legacy, here they have been repackaged with vastly more extras and with upgraded sound and picture. For anyone who hasn't been in hypersleep for the last 25 years, this series needs no introduction, though for the first time each film now comes in both original and "special edition" form.
Alien (1979) was so perfect it didn't need fixing, and Ridley Scott's 2003 director's cut is fiddling for the sake of fiddling. Watch it once, then return to the majestic, perfectly paced original. Conversely, the special edition of James Cameron's Aliens (1986) is the definitive version, though it's nice to finally have the theatrical cut on DVD for comparison. Most interesting is the alternative Alien 3 (1992). This isn't a "director's cut"--David Fincher refused to have any involvement with this release--but a 1991 work-print that runs 29 minutes longer than the theatrical version, and has now been restored, remastered, and finished off with (unfortunately) cheap new CGI. Still, it's truly fascinating, offering a different insight into a flawed masterpiece. The expanded opening is visually breathtaking, the central firestorm is much longer, and a subplot involving Paul McGann's character adds considerable depth to story. The ending is also subtly but significantly different. Alien: Resurrection (1997) always was a mess with a handful of brilliant scenes, and the special edition just makes it eight minutes longer.
The Alien Quadrilogy offers the first and fourth films with DTS soundtracks, the others having still fine Dolby Digital 5.1 presentation. All four films sound fantastic, with much low-level detail revealed for the first time. Each is anamorphically enhanced at the correct original aspect ratio, and the prints and transfers are superlative. Every film offers a commentary track that lends insight into the creative process--though the Scott-only commentary and isolated music score from the first Alien DVD release are missing here.
Each movie is complemented by a separate disc packed with hours of seriously detailed documentaries (all presented in full-screen with clips letterboxed), thousands of photos, production stills, and storyboards, giving a level of inside information for the dedicated buff only surpassed by the Lord of the Rings extended DVD sets. A ninth DVD compiles miscellaneous material, including an hourlong documentary and even all the extras from the old Alien laserdisc. "Exhaustive" hardly beings to describe the Alien Quadrilogy, a set that establishes the new DVD benchmark for retrospective releases and looks unlikely to be surpassed for some time. --Gary S. Dalkin

Worth it just for the first 2.......2007-08-27
Alien and Aliens is science fiction at it's pure best. Actually, I like Aliens even better than the first. Best sequel to a film, ever. As for the other 2...well, Alien 3 was OK I guess. It had it's moments. Resurrection, I'm just gonna pretend it doesn't exist. Though I admit, I have seen it more than once. Its just too poorly written. However, I love the character of Ripley, she is one of my fave characters in film anywhere. For die-hard fans, this set is for you.
Flaw in Resurrection Disc.......2007-07-27
I just wanted to reiterate what another recent reveiwer had said about the "Alien Resurrection" (film #4 in the series, disc #7 in this set) being a defective disc. This has also been the case in my collection. The disc stalls after selecting play on either the special edition or theatrical release editions and shuts down after spinning hopelessly in your disc player for several minutes. This incident was not isolated to one player, but all of them I tried (DVD Theater system, PC DVD-rom drive, PS3, etc). You can access the film via the "scenes" menu, but the film indeed will not play all the way through. When you get to the scene where Ripley tears out the aliens "tongue" and hands it to Call, the disc will fast forward to the end of the movie. This is the location in the disc where it "transitions" (that slight pause you get in all dvd's). If you already have a copy of this film from a previous Legacy DVD release, be sure to hang onto it. Naturally, this voids out the whole idea of having a special edition of Resurrection, but alas, you will not be able to watch it. HUGE flaw on Fox's part, should have been a recall on this one. This is not the first title manufactured by FOX that has had issues. Two Simpsons box sets I had ordered in the past also arrived damaged or with missing discs. I will not purchase any more box sets from FOX unless it is at physical store where I can return it immediately if the need arises.
Chest Bursting Goodness .......2007-06-27
Quality...If you are a fan of the Alien movies look no further... This is a really cool collection of these movies and I am glad waited to buy this collection... Lots of cool extras and tons of new scenes to watch if you select the directors cuts of each film.
Nice!
It's all here!.......2007-06-27
For die-hard fans of Alien, like me, this set is a godsend. The bonus minutes on each disk really add to the story. I was never a huge fan of Alien Resurrection but even the bonus features for this installment of the Alien legacy were awesome.
The minutes added to the first movie, Alien, shows what actually happened to Dallas and Brett. The additional footage on Aliens shows Newt and her parents prior to the Alien invasion. Alien 3 bonus footage adds more to the plot and suspense. As for Alien Resurrection, like I said, wasn't one of the better Alien movies but any set wouldn't be complete without it.
A Must Have For Any Alien Fan.......2007-05-23
I have been a fan of the Alien movies since I was a kid. I never got to see any in theaters except for Alien Resurection. This is a great set and each movie has extended or deleted scenes added to the films. The first two, Alien and Aliens are great classic movies and the extended scenes make the classics that much better. The final two, Alien 3 and Alien Resurection are the mos underated in my opinion. Alien 3 was a great movie but has alot more cursing than the other three but it fits considering it is set in a prison. There was a bunch deleted from this film and it really adds alot to it as several key scenes are completly different and make more sense IMO. The only issue is that the added scenes have degraded over time and some of the dialouge was unusable so at times the audio is hard to hear, but it is still very interesting to watch. Alien Resurection was the most underated of the four and while it's not the best it is still a good movie. The added scenes really make it that much better. The special features on all of these movies are imense and this is one set that is a must buy for Alien fans and science fiction lovers.

Number 8 in the Halloween line maintains connections to John Carpenter's original. Resurrection picks up the thread of Halloween: H2O, with poor Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) now in a psychiatric hospital and determined to shut down homicidal Michael Myers once and for all. After this prologue, the story shifts to the old Myers house, where a TV reality show has enticed six teenagers to spend a single night in the spooky home. Needless to say, things are spoiled when Michael barges in: "I so did not sign up for this," sighs the young heroine, when the bloodletting begins. The mayhem is being broadcast live on the Internet, which makes the film a bit like Rear Window with Instant Messaging. The interesting premise is routinely handled, but that's enough to make this one of the better sequels in the series. Maybe they finally finished off Michael in this one, wink wink. --Robert Horton
Description
Original HALLOWEEN star Jamie Lee Curtis (HALLOWEEN: H2O, TRUE LIES) is back and joined by Busta Rhymes (SHAFT) and Tyra Banks (COYOTE UGLY) in the terrifying HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION -- the latest in this electrifying horror film series! The reality programmers at DangerTainment (Rhymes, Banks) have selected Rudy (Sean Patrick Thomas -- SAVE THE LAST DANCE), Bill (Thomas Ian Nicholas -- AMERICAN PIE 1&2), and a group of thrill-seeking teenagers to spend one fun-filled night in the childhood home of serial killer Michael Myers. But the planned live broadcast turns deadly when their evening of excitement becomes a night of horror as Michael himself decides to crash the party!

DONT EVEN WASTE YOUR MONEY.......2007-09-15
Im A Huge fan of the halloween series and i have to say this film is garbage, what kind of movie is this? internet horror? wtf i mean seriously having busta kill mike at the end? whats that all about!. dont even waste your money on this movie. i saw it when it first came in theaters and i laughed during the whole movie... wanna see a halloween movie worth the money? go see rob zombie's halloween atleast hes out killing again like he use to
Too many cliches.......2007-09-02
The first minutes of the film with the final battle between Michael Myers and Laurie were the only high point of this film. After that happened, Halloween series enters the cliche zone. 2000 hasnt been very kind to any horror franchises. Its better then the Rob Zombie remake at least, PLEASE AVOID THAT MOVIE HALLOWEEN FANS! Myers was normal in this movie, the Zombie film made him look like he was on steriods. Probably an ode to the times. I love the Halloween series but I rank this as one of the worst films due to the dumb internet story line. If they ended this with the Myers-Strode finale then this movie would of been good. I know they had to film anther hour and twenty seven minutes of film though.
HE'S BBBAAACCCKKK - MICHAEL NEVER DIES!!!.......2007-08-31
i'm a big holloween junkie, and a big michael myers addict. i love the whole series. this movie is great. there's suspense, thrills, kills. jamie lee curtis a great actress, does her part great. michaels home and those kids are tresspassing so beware!!!
Good Comeback!!!!.......2007-08-31
Had Its Moments! Mostley made up for H20. After The CrapFest that H20 was, This was a good attempt. Hopefully Rob Zombie does a Great Job on his Version.
Tries to undo H20...but for what?.......2007-08-05
This movie was a HUGE disappointment. Its predecessor was a pleasant surprise, intelligently resolving (or so we thought) the whole "Halloween" series with a tremendously satisfying confrontation between Michael Myers and his long-suffering sister/prey, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis). After that, I am baffled as to why Ms. Curtis (or should I say Mrs. Guest?) took part in this travesty, which undoes the above in ten misery-filled minutes. After which Jamie Lee is not seen again...guess why... Also, Josh Hartnett, as Laurie's son in "H20", isn't even mentioned as the series reverts to one-dimensional, character-free bloodletting. The rest of the movie is typical process of elimination of clueless teenagers, with some not-bad new twists (reality TV and webcams) in the formula. But all is hopelessly tainted by what came before.
In the long run, these series are unrewarding because the villains keep coming back, the heroes never really win, and the victims are never avenged. Unless the next sequel reveals that Laurie Strode survived her injuries, I'm going to consider H20, with its infinitely more satisfying (and logical!) conclusion, to be the end of the series.
Two stars because it's not awful, especially if you're fine with the callous disposal of the human element of the series (Jamie/Laurie) in favor of the faceless Michael Myers machine (and its conducivene$$ to more facele$$ $equel$).

This unbearable quartet of stories was written and directed by hot filmmakers Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction), Robert Rodriguez (El Mariachi), Allison Anders (Gas Food Lodging), and Alexandre Rockwell (In the Soup), which only proves that even the smart guys can really blow it sometimes. The anthology is linked by the hotel in which all the events are taking place, and by Tim Roth as a bellboy flitting from scene to scene. Nobody overcomes the insufferable air of self-congratulation that permeates this exercise in forced hipness. With Bruce Willis, Madonna, Lili Taylor, Ione Skye, Jennifer Beals, and Antonio Banderas. --Tom Keogh

Customer Reviews:
An entertaining experience with a shaky foundation.......2007-08-22
This film is the very definition of 'patchy'. It comes across like the directors responsible were just filling in free time between their real movies - which is probably true. Only Rodriquez's piece has any real merit.
Tim Roth plays the bellboy who is the link between all the stories and subsequently the main character. I think someone should have slapped him and told him to sort his act out. I love Tim Roth usually but here he was just way too over-the-top. If he had exercised a little bit of restraint, the whole film could have been improved. Instead, his overly exaggerated mannerisms really began to test my patience.Starting with "The Missing Ingredient" by Allison Anders is peculiar to say the least. Now peculiar is a good thing in my book, but after promising to be amusing this just goes nowhere. It's just bizarre.
"The Wrong Man" by Alexandre Rockwell unfortunately doesn't have the essentials to sustain it's segment. I think this is the piece most affected by Roth's overtly comic acting. If he had played it straight, maybe, just maybe, this situation might have come out alright. But it lacked any of the requisite tension or nervous comedy required. Like the first story, it just comes out ridiculous.
"The Misbehaviors" from Robert Rodriquez is the real standout. If I didn't know better I would have guessed it was by the Coen brothers - which is a compliment to Rodriquez - there are obvious parallels to Barton Fink. The climax is a simply superb culmination of black comedy and stylish camerawork. Antonio Banderas is terrific as the father of the two little 'misbehaviors'.
"The Man from Hollywood," while better than the first two stories, is probably the most disappointing, only because it's from Quentin Tarantino who I expected more from. He takes the lead role himself here. Now Quentin gets a lot of knocks for his acting, but I find that when he plays obnoxious (like in Pulp Fiction) he is fine, that's what he plays here, and he's fine. The problem is, somewhat surprisingly, in the script. The whole thing is a purposely long winded set-up for a quick punch line at the end. That's fine, but the set up is just too inconsistent. At times it's entertaining, at other times it is just ludicrous, which typifies too much of this whole film.
I'd give it 3.5 stars on the whole, mostly on the strength of "The Misbehaviors" story alone. Other then that it's a decent film.
More Of A Pet Project Than True Cinema ...But Still ..........2007-06-10
An anthology of short films bound by one character is what you'll find in FOUR ROOMS. And all of the shorts are directed by four different directors with decidedly four different styles that overlap one another via Ted the Bellhop (Tim Roth,(...) .
It is Ted's first day on the job and it just so happens to be one of the busiest days of the year for the hotel (New Year's Eve). Relieving the old bellhop who'd worked there for fifty years, Ted is given sage advice that eventually falls apart on him (mostly related to sex, accountability, and keeping one's own council.)
The first episode is entitled "The Missing Ingredient." A clutch of witches inhabits a hotel room and they try to stir up incantations to revive a lost sexual sisters. Sammi Davis, Amanda De Cadenet, Valeria Golino, Ione Skye, Lili Taylor, Alicia Witt, and sex-pot Madonna round out the cast here. All of the witches brings a required item to the resurrection ceremony ...except one. She forgot to bring the sperm of a young man to add to their concoction. Enter Ted the Bellhop who finds his manliness much in need. This was the weakest of the four stories, failing to develop the tale or any of its characters, thus making the entire thing fall flat on its cinematic butt (even though there were plenty of nice butts and boobs in it). (...) director Allison Anders misses his mark.
The next episode is "The Wrong Man." Sigfried (David Proval) and his wife Angela (Jennifer Beals) are having an interesting New Year's Eve playing a rather kinky game of tie-up-the-wife- and-see-what-happens. Ted is brought into their midst and the sparks start to fizzle. Is Sigfried gay? Is Angela psychotic? Funny thanks to David Proval's history as a film bad-guy, this one had potential thanks to director Alexandre Rockwell.
The third installment is "The Misbehavers." A husband and wife played by Antonio Banderas (...) and Tamlyn Tomita plan to spend a romantic evening out but have to take their two misbehaving kids with them. Or do they? Enter Ted the Bellhop again. They hire him to watch over the boy and girl while they're away. Porno channels, a dirty syringe, flames, and a dead hooker all await the husband and wife upon their return. More of a slapschtick homage to (...), this over-the-top episode was directed by (...) director Robert Rodriguez -- who loves to direct Antonio Banderas (they worked together on (...) and (...) Probably one of the more laugh-out-loud endings of the four.
The final short is "The Man From Hollywood" directed by and starring Quentin Tarantino (...). At the end of his shift as well as his wits, Ted is summoned to the penthouse suite where he gets involved with a wager between two very drunk Hollywood types. Norman (Paul Calderon) and Chester Rush (Tarantino) have a bet going that Norman can't light his cigarette lighter ten times in a row without it failing. If Norman succeeds, he'll get Chester's cherry and expensive car. If he doesn't, Norm will lose a finger. But none of his friends in the room want to be responsible for doing hacking it off should Norman lose the bet. Enter Ted again. Offered a large stack of (...) bills if he'll do it, Ted numbly picks up a meat clever and...
But we won't give away the ending.
Seeming more like a pet project than anything of note, this 1995 offering is entertaining but sorely bland. The Jerry Lewis antics of Tim Roth are admirable (Lewis also starred in a film entitled (...) but the homage to comedy of days gone by felt forced or missing.
There are still laughs to be found but don't expect too many chuckles.
cult classic.......2007-05-28
If you are a Tarrintino fan you must buy this movie. It features four different stories, all with different directors. Must have for any cult classic fans.
Please for the love of Christ don't watch this movie!.......2007-02-04
I'm not usually one to be critical of a thing and not back it with balanced insightful information, but I wasted enough of my life with this movie to go that deep. I would rather have spend the 90 minutes hammering my fingertips flats with a ball peen hammer. Just don't do it. It's not funny no matter your "mindset" or "frame of reference".
FOUR STORIES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE.......2007-01-18
Bellhop (Tim Roth at his best) vs guests.
The first two stories suck (minus one star) with Maddona as herself.
The third story is priceless.(Antonio Banderas at his best as the head of the Latin Kings)
The fourth story is a great sequel to a "Twilight Zone" episode.(Bruce Willis and Quentin play themselves)
Marisa Tomei at her best as a crack-ho.
Kathy Griffin at her best as the hotel owner.
Adult content.

After 11 years in development hell and screenplay drafts by 13 different writers, the long-awaited smackdown of Freddy vs. Jason finally arrives. After making their respective debuts in Friday the 13th (1980) and A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger, replacing long-time Jason performer Kane Hodder) and razor-gloved Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) square off in a slasher-franchise combo-deal that only their most devoted fans will appreciate; turns out this is a lightweight match in which nobody wins. It's an average entry in the histories of these horror icons, comparable to half of their previous sequels, and Bride of Chucky director Ronny Yu satisfies purists with plenty of gushing blood and mayhem when Freddy recruits Jason to slice 'n' dice the ill-fated teens who've forgotten Freddy's once-formidable reign of terror. While it logically connects the gruesome legacies of Nightmare's Elm Street and Friday's Camp Crystal Lake, this horror hybrid is shockingly uninspired. It briefly peaks when Freddy gives the unconscious Jason a dream-world pummeling, but their ultimate showdown's a draw. In the immortal words of Peggy Lee, is that all there is? --Jeff Shannon

Perfectly Plotted - Makes Fans of Both Happy.......2007-09-05
Freddy Vs. Jason pits two of the biggest names in slasher history together. This movie works well for fans of both. It has a Nightmare on Elm Street feel but a Friday the 13th atmosphere. The plot works perfectly if you're a fan of both and it's a LOT better than the last few releases of both series.
I won't give away any of the movie but I will talk about what the DVD includes. An audio commentary from director Ronny Yu and Freddy and Jason. It also includes plenty of deleted scenes, and alternate opening AND ending, featurettes, a music video and plenty more.
If you're a fan of Freddy Krueger or Jason Voorhees, this is a must have. If you're a casual fan, it's highly recommended. Otherwise, it's worth a checking out.
Needed Kane Hodder.......2007-09-03
This movie has the typical formula for a modern day horror film; Blood that looks too fake, a cast of teens you would see on an MTV show, a couple semifamous stars, sex, violence and gore, and drugs. This movie was for the Nightmare on Elm Street fan. Freddy had most of the film and yes, I know Jason cant talk. It was good to see Freddy in a film again though. Robert Englund is a treat to watch, i'd highly recommend him in 1001 Maniacs. It had a good plot but the cast was really annoying. Also, Kane Hodder, the Jason in the last four Friday films, was left out for a unknown actor. Hodder was the best Jason and his presence in this movie is missed. A good movie with a few good fight scenes between Jason and Freddy. The killings in this movie weren't really speical. Id recommend it to people who love horror or just have every Nightmare on Elm Street or Friday the 13th dvd.
The Movie We've Been WAiting For.......2007-08-11
We've been waiting for this one since like 1989. They changed this from when it first came out on video, to a much more straight forward Friday the 13th film. Jason and Freddy hack up a group of overage teens before squaring off against one another with, as I could've predicted years ago, Jason wins. They tied the two series together, it was Freddy who drowned Jason. I really liked it, but someone who isn't a diehard fan of either series might rate it poorly. It's amazing to see Friday the 13th films still being made after Jason X bombed. Robert Englund does a good job of reprising his role of Freddy Kruger, in what should be his final film.
Surprised me!!.......2007-07-28
Okay, I'll be honest, I never wanted to see this movie. I love all the Elm Street movies, and some of the Friday ones, but the whole idea of Freddy and Jason fighting just seemed stupid to me. I caught the end of the movie on TV the other night, and it was pretty good. Turns out my husband has the DVD, so I sat down to watch the whole thing, and it was pretty good. It's not the best of either series, but it's not even close to being the worst.
A True Celebration of the Slasher Icons.......2007-07-25
I hated Friday the 13th part IX: Jason Goes to Hell and the idea of making a film about Freddy and Jason squaring off was horrible but inevitable after we see Freddy bring Jason's hockey mask to hell with him. Well, I can admit I was somewhat wrong. You see I was under the impression that the inept creators who made these later films would create this one too, but Freddy vs. Jason was in decent or at least very disturbed hands. The film hand picks the truly memorable elements about both stories and touches on all of them. The parts that make them scary and somewhat convincing and the parts that reinforce the characters as legends and horror icons. Freddy vs. Jason celebrates the mythology in an undeniably clever and tongue-in-cheek fashion.
Freddy's legend is brought to an iconic status as we see girls jumping rope singing those Freddy rhymes and him getting burned by the vengeful parents of the Elm street children, they even gave us glimpses of Freddy's greatest moments. He consistently breaks out his puns and bad one-liners in vintage Freddy bravado and in many ways he is the lead character of the film. The movie is actually from his perspective from the start. Jason's legend on the other hand is touched on only half way until later on when the two meet for the first time. We see images of his mother, her head, Jason drowning as a boy and children picking on him mercilessly. We even get a short reference to Jason's potato sack wearing days in Friday the 13th part 2.
Freddy's strength is the fear of the children on Elm Street and to fear him they must know who he is. I don't remember Nancy and Johnny Depp having to know who Freddy is to fear him but where would one of these films be without a plot-hole? So Freddy needs to get something going in reality (cause Freddy exists in dreams). He summons another dark force to bring chaos and fear to the real world Elm Street so the legend of Freddy is hyped-up all over again and he is allowed to flourish in all of the children's fear. Enter Jason Voorhees. But when Jason shows up he spoils all of Freddy's fun by killing everyone he can...and I mean everyone. Freddy can't stand it because everyone on Elm Street now fears Jason just as much as him but Freddy has gained enough power to make a comeback. The stage is set for the modern day King Kong vs. Godzilla. Both opponents are worthy of the other and they do not disappoint in the least.
What really makes the film entertaining is the violence and if you're a fan of these characters. Otherwise you're going to see some brutal deaths that will scare you because most fans are twisted enough to laugh at it and you won't understand why. Freddy vs. Jason contains perhaps more blood than any mainstream film I have ever seen (obviously it can't top Peter Jackson's Dead Alive). Still, the film has blood shooting to and fro in just about every direction in just about every death, and we see a lot of the death. It gets even bloodier when they finally meet in the real world at Camp Crystal Lake for the classic showdown. Freddy's Kung Fu and his wits seem to be the perfect match for Jason's brawn and complete invulnerability to any type of pain or dismemberment.
Anyway, the film has plenty of laughs besides the usually amusing murder sequence. Consider this line after Jason marches through a cornfield toward a small rave party as he is engulfed in flames and kills a handful of people, "Dude that goalie was pissed about something". Rumors still circulate that Michael Myers or Ash (from Evil Dead 2) might get into the mix but nothing has come out of it. Slasher movie fans are a patient lot with lower standards than most but perhaps enough is enough.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Movie.......2007-06-22
Excellent idea that probably came from the 1950's attempts to put this kind of movie together. However, our era's special effects makes this movie work wonderfully. Story is pretty good. There are some bumps in the telling of the story, but it all evens out. Good action sequences. Some of the characters you wish were smarter, but overall good job. I have watched it several times and will again in the future.
HD IS EXCELLENT!.......2007-05-21
This is a good movie and to add HD makes it even better. The clarity and sound is outstanding. HD is the best thing that has happened to movies in years.
Continuation of The Mummy.......2007-04-28
The sequel to the movie The Mummy. The story is set in 1933, approximately 9 years after the events of the first film. Rick O'Connell is now married to Evelyn and the couple has settled in London, where they are raising their 8-year-old son Alex. The corpse of Imhotep is resurrected in the British Museum, and Imhotep returns to the world again determined to gain immortality. Although, this time another force has also been set loose in the world... a creature of the darkest rituals of ancient Egyptian mysticism, who is even more powerful than Imhotep. When these two forces clash, the fate of the world will hang in the balance, sending the O'Connells on a desperate race to save the world from an unspeakable evil, and rescue their son before it is too late. Overall, I thought that the first movie was better how ever the plot was developed nicely in the second and the continuation of the characters is always a good thing.
HD-DVD shines in The Mummy Returns.......2007-04-03
Like "The Mummy" in HD-DVD, the added depth of color and resolution make this HD-DVD one to own -- and one to show off assuming your HDTV is up to it. The contrasts and colors are spectacular and there is detail everywhere.
Not to mention it's just a fun story -- well told, well acted, well directed and certainly made with more than enough production money. And Brendan Fraser/Rachel Weisz are just so cute.
HD review.......2007-03-08
I liked to see the movie in HighDefinition, good sharp colors.
It was my first HD movie so we will see how the others are.
So far so good.

Hello Again.......2006-11-08
Awsome fun fantasy movie. It took me away from the everyday stress and put me in a better mood.
Isn't Comedy supposed to be funny?.......2006-04-13
Shelley Long stars as the clutzy wife of an prominent Plastic Surgeon- when she chokes to death on a piece of chicken she is brought back to life by her ditzy sister and an occult book- with one 'catch' she must find her true love by the next full moon or return to the grave.
Frankly I was bored. Shelley longs 'clutzy' episodes were meant to be funny, but instead, I felt embarrassed for her. How many times can you watch someone knock something over or spill food before you begin to become annoyed? This movie had a dated feel and I felt the main character's helplessness and slapstick antics just didn't capture the interest of this viewer. Instead of laughing at her antics I pitied her. Not humor in my book. 1 star.
Shelley Long's greatest solo comedy effort.......2006-03-16
One of Shelley Long's better comedies, HELLO AGAIN is an entertaining "What If?" story with a twist. Lucy Chadman (Shelley Long) has it all...a rich plastic surgeon-husband (Corbin Bernsen), a devoted son, a faithful dog, great friends and a beautiful mansion. But when she accidentally chokes to death on a chicken-ball, her charmed life comes to a premature end. Enter her wacky sister Zelda (Judith Ivey) who resurrects Lucy with an ancient spell. But Lucy is shocked when she discovers how much time has been taken from her, with her husband now re-married to her supposed `Best Friend' (Sela Ward), and when the press finds out about Lucy's miraculous return from the grave, it's every man for himself!
Shelley Long radiates charm and warmth as Lucy. I've always loved Long and this is arguably her best solo comedy effort. She adds a lot of pathos and heart to the role. Judith Ivey is hilarious as Zelda; can you say `scene-stealer'?. Corbin Bernsen and Sela Ward play the uptight yuppies to the hilt. The outstanding supporting cast includes Austin Pendleton, Carrie Nye and Gabriel Byrne. A witty and clever comedy that needs to be rediscovered.

Perhaps these films are like the Star Trek movies: The even-numbered episodes are the best ones. Certainly this film (directed by French stylist Jean-Pierre Jeunet) is an improvement over Alien 3, with a script that breathes exciting new life into the franchise. This chapter is set even further in the future, where scientists on a space colony have cloned both the alien and Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), who died in Alien 3; in doing so, however, they've mixed alien DNA with Ripley's human chromosomes, which gives Ripley surprising power (and a bad attitude). A band of smugglers comes aboard only to discover the new race of aliens--and when the multi-mouthed melonheads get loose, no place is safe. But, on the plus side, they have Ripley as a guide to help them get out. Winona Ryder is on hand as the smugglers' most unlikely crew member (with a secret of her own), but this one is Sigourney's all the way. --Marshall Fine
Description
A group of scientists has cloned Lt. Ellen Ripley, along with the alien queen inside her, hoping to breed the ultimate weapon. But the resurrected Ripley is full of surprises for her "creators," as are the aliens they've imprisoned. And soon, a lot more than "all hell" breaks loose. To combat the creatures, Ripley must team up with a band of smugglers, including a mechanic named Call (Ryder), who holds more than a few surprises of her own.

I must say that this movie is full of tension; it hardly ever lets up (much like the second film). But it's clearly the creepiest, weirdest, goriest, and nastiest of the franchise. It's overkill. There's no solid story, and it's all becoming too familiar in its endless variations of the tired 'escape the monsters' formula. I am surprised at how many people give this movie four or five stars. It's not worthy.
Ripley's manicure manages to stay nice all through the harrowing ordeals. Not a crack or a chip. I nearly laugh when they show closeup shots of her hands. Didn't the director or any of the cast or crew notice this during the rushes?
But how about that disturbing, gruesome, gutwrenching scene before the end? Too much. (Shudder.) I'd rather watch "Sophie's Choice".
Of all the Alien films, I always gravitate back to the first, the original suspense-filled monster movie that created the whole egg/facehugger/birth/acid blood/alien concepts. I do enjoy the second movie for its action and thrills, but I've watched the first one the most. It is fairly brilliant, frightening, and purposely slow in building its tension to a wonderful climax.
Alien Resurrection is the kind of film you'll watch once, most likely...unless you enjoy cheesy, gore-laced action flicks with stereotypical characters and dialogue. It won't beg repeat viewing like number one does.
Part 2 was better, heck should've really ended with 3........2007-05-15
While this movie is nice for just a popcorn flick, this series really should have just ended with 3. While I could enjoy the movie for what it was, which is why I'm giving this a 4 star rating.
Alien Resurrection - Review.......2007-05-07
I generally liked this movie, but the story reminds me more of keystone cops type of comedy rather than the movie I had hoped it would be. Slapstick this movie should not have been.
Scary adventure, almost touching at the end.......2007-05-06
I'm somewhat new to the Alien series. Since I wasn't even born before the first movie made its appearance in the 1970s I was too young even after Alien Resurrection hit theaters in 1997. I did see bits of the movies since they represent an epitome of science fiction filming, but still a child until the late 1990s (I was born in 1985) I didn't care to see something so graphic and horror-based. I had recently purchased the second film Aliens and was impressed by how convincingly Weaver portrayed Ripley, and how interesting the plot line was (I happen to find the first film eerie, but a little boring at first). The third feature, Alien 3, was definitely scary, but was my least favorite. Alien Resurrection is one of the best in the movies. The film has great effects (for its time), and once again Weaver portrays a believable character--in an interesting sense, the mutant alien (part original Alien and part Ripley) almost comes off a little sympathetic in the final look between Ripley's character and said beast, with its sad eyes looking at its mother. Definitely one of the better Alien movies, although I doubt it completely takes the top spot from Aliens.
My favorite movie.......2007-03-29
This is my favorite of the series. I got it quick and I didn't get charged a small fortune

Customer Reviews:
Best "Alien" movie by far.......2007-08-21
I personally think this movie is the best of the "Alien" series. Most people won't agree with that statement and I think it's because they have this unattainable image portrayed by the second movie, "Aliens", which was directed by James Cameron. You might have to remind yourself that James Cameron also created the movie Titanic (which I think breaks any cred he had as a director).
Where the 2nd "Aliens" movie is slow moving and puts more focus on suspense, this movie is action
