Kids' Favorite Songs kicks off with a cackle-worthy parody of Bob Dylan doing "Old McDonald," and from there the groovy gags keep comin' 'round the mountain. Everywhere Elmo turns on Sesame Street monsters spontaneously burst into song, and all because they want him to feature their favorite tunes on his forthcoming radio countdown. For Telly, winnowing the hits to one is akin to Cookie Monster choosing between a macaroon and a figgie bar: at first he's sure that "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" lights his fire, but then he says bye-bye to a black sheep. The street heaves a collective sigh pavementward when word comes down that the countdown is strictly a numbers gig, no music involved. Only Sesame Street could weave well-loved musical numbers around a simple numbers lesson with such wacky pizzazz, making this a countdown that's no letdown for high-spirited parent-preschooler combos. --Tammy La Gorce

5 out of 5 stars If your kids love to sing...........2007-08-20

they will love this DVD. My 3 yr. old loves Sesame St. and loves to sing. This was a birthday present received the end of July. He (and his older sister) liked to watch it almost daily. Unfortunately, this past Sat. we left it at a beach house. So....I'm ordering another one! The kids are still singing the songs, but they miss the DVD.

3 out of 5 stars Elmo Counts Backward From Ten.......2007-07-09

I purchased "Kids Favorite Songs 2" some time ago and my kids (20 month olds) loved it. So I thought I would look for the original video "Kids Favorite Songs." This video is slow compared to its successor. Much of the video is spent with characters talking to Elmo about what his top ten countdown is going to be. Approximately 35% of the video is devoted to Elmo counting backwards from ten and other characters talking to Elmo about which song they would like to see him put in the countdown. When they finally do the countdown songs are mixed together (Baa Baa Blacksheep have you any wool...ABCD three bags full...EFG... and so on.

Buy Kids Favotite Songs 2. It is much better laid out and more interaction with real kids and the characters.

5 out of 5 stars My baby is having a great time!.......2007-06-08

My one year old son is often getting tired around 6.30pm. At that time of the day, he does not really want to play and gets frustrated very easily...but he LOVES watching this video! He is moving and kind of dancing when the songs play, he really enjoys it from the beginning to the end. He ends up in a good mood (and Mummy too as a consequence), ready to have diner with no fussing.

5 out of 5 stars A High Quality Product.......2007-05-14

I purchased this for my 16-month-old grandson, and he just loves it. He is king of the short attention span, but he sits and watches the whole thing. As a teacher, I'm interested in the concepts taught, and this DVD does a nice job, but he just loves the action and the music. He recognizes the cover, and brings it to me to put in the DVD player for him.

4 out of 5 stars too much talk.......2007-05-03

This is a good video and it teaches children to count from 10 to 1. My daugter likes it because of the singing but loses interest when they start "talking". She likes "Kids' Favorite Songs 2" better. Not so much talking and more singing.

Somewhere into the so-so "Itsy Bitsy Spider" segment, the sinking feeling that Kids' Favorite Songs 2 is strictly sequel material sets in. This is a march down Sesame Street on a slow day, when the loopy monster misunderstandings and goofball gags miss a rare beat or two. Still, making merry is what the Sesame crew does best, and they succeed here, if on a less brilliant level than we've come to expect. All the usual favorites, like "If You're Happy and You Know It" and "The Ants Go Marching," get the gang and their real-life kid friends grooving, and a running joke involving a renegade meatball keeps kids 18 months to 5 tuned in to the end. Elmo hosts. --Tammy La Gorce

5 out of 5 stars Elmo's World.......2007-08-24

My 16-month old nephew loves this video. He sings and dances along with the songs and just becomes mesmorized. A very good purchase.

5 out of 5 stars My Daughter's favorite!.......2007-03-23

I cam across this VHS at a yard sale, and thought my daughter would like it. This has become her absolute favorite now and even prefers it over Barney!(which is hard to top). She is almost 2 and knows every song and will follow along with the dancing and singing, and she is shy when it comes to people watching her dance, so we very rarely get to see this side of her. Everyone in our family knows this tape word for word, and have recently added The first Kids' Favorite Songs to our collection, and is also already becoming a hit! Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars My kid is ok with it but prefers Kids Favorite Songs.......2007-03-08

When we got Kids Favorite Songs my 18 month old wanted to watch it over and over and over and though he doesn't talk yet he could easily hum most of the songs and we felt we had to get Kids Favorite songs 2 but he isn't as enthusiastic about it as the first. It's a little advanced for his age maybe he will grow into it but for younger kids the first definitely much better and easier to sing along too.

3 out of 5 stars Kids' Favorite Songs 2 Review.......2007-01-11

We have both part 1 and part 2. Part 2 has too much talk and not enough singing. Our toddler looses attention quickly while watching this.

5 out of 5 stars You & your kids will ENJOY.......2007-01-04

My son was introduced to Elmo at daycare & loved KFS2,so I bought it. It was a great buy my husband & I both love it, we sing the songs, know the entire DVD,by heart. My son was 17 months at the time. He recites alot of the DVD. I strongly recommend this DVD. No regrets!!!

One electrifying hour of Sesame Street music and magic commemorates its 35th anniversary in this collection of 17 classic songs paired with a star-studded guest list. Superhero Grover provides the thematic storyline for musical merriment as he embarks on a mission to discover the "one special song the world can sing together." It's a difficult task since everyone in the Sesame Street cast has an opinion. Beginning with the opening number, "Sing" (which gives cameos to Ben Stiller, Conan O'Brien, the Dixie Chicks, and more), the tunes come in rapid succession along with the usual bantering and balderdash of Kermit, Oscar, and the gang. There is no shortage of hilarity, whether watching Wayne Brady sing "Between" sandwiched in the middle of Big Bird and Snuffy; or Queen Latifah belt a rap rendition of "That's the Letter O." It is no wonder that Sesame Street remains timeless with such servings of exquisite entertainment targeted at youngsters yet enjoyed by all. (Ages 3 to 8) --Lynn Gibson

5 out of 5 stars My toddler LOVES this...and I don't mind it, either. :).......2007-09-10

This movie is a great attention getter for my toddler. It is the one video we have that captures his attention from beginning to end. And I don't mind the music, so it's not a bad choice for the not-so-background sounds. He dances along, claps to it, smiles and laughs...it's definitely his favorite. There are great songs and a mix of puppet characters and people singing.

5 out of 5 stars Sesame Street - What's the Name of That Song.......2007-03-25

My two year old loves this movie. We have a couple Sesame Street DVD and this is the best. And since I have to watch it also, it helps that I love it too!

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful tape for kids!.......2007-01-10

I had a chance to see this DVD last year before I even became pregnant. My little cousin (2 yrs old) was viewing it and I fell in love with it-- especially after hearing Patti LaBelle's version of the ABC's! My son is now 8 weeks old and we were watching Sesame Street the other day when the episode aired with Patti singing. I immediately remembered the tape and after MUCH research, I've located and ordered the DVD for my infant. I am really looking forward to him hearing and seeing it!!!!

5 out of 5 stars A Must Buy Sesame Street Video.......2007-01-05

We have numerous Sesame Street videos and this by far is the best one we've purchased. A great introduction to all of the characters, as well as the inclusion of old and new Sesame Street songs and skits. My two year old loves it, especially the Patti LaBelle alphabet song and Bert's Pigeon song. A great addition to kids' video collections.

5 out of 5 stars Keeps my sons attention and loves all the songs and music........2006-12-19

My son truly loves this video and he has learned so much from it. It follows a story line throughout the DVD and has tons of songs and entertainment for my 17 month old. I also purchased the 25th anniversary DVD and he loved that one too. Now my son is obsessed with sesame street and I am actually very happy with how much he has learned from these DVD's. I suggest getting this video for you little one. I know it keeps my son entertained and occupied throughout the whole video.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for any age!.......2007-05-14

I bought this video for my son 3 years ago when he was 2. He played it so much I had to buy a new one for his little sister, because the DVD froze too much. I even bought a 3rd one for my godson. My son now 5 still loves to watch it. He knows all the words to the fun songs. We dance and sing to every song on the DVD. The DVD has funny Halloween jokes, catchy tunes, and of course Elmo is cute as ever when he tries to scare guest, Julia Roberts. Its a great DVD the whole family can enjoy! Totally recommended.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars One of Elmo's Best .......2007-07-27

My twin boys are almost a year old and we have most of the Elmo's World DVDs. If your kids like Elmo, and most seem to, The Great Outdoors is a good one to have. My boys LOVE this one. They kick and laugh while watching Elmo, the other puppets, and even dumb Mr. Noodle. They enjoy the part in the beginning where Elmo introduces the wild animals. They also like it when Elmo counts, but their favorite section is the one on fishes, especially when Dorothy imagines Elmo as different types of fishes.

I am surprised that a reviewer said this one scared her child. Maybe it would be worth trying it again. We have never had that problem and one of our boys startles easily. The tornado does have a silly voice, but not bad. It says "you can't play outside when I'm around."

This disc always holds their attention and makes them smile. I recommend it. I wish they liked the others as much. Our boys' other favorites are: Pets; Food, Water & Exercise; Flowers, Bananas & more; Reach for the Sky, and Sing Yourself Silly.

3 out of 5 stars Not for everyone........2007-05-31

Hmmm. Well, some people love Elmo, some people hate him. My daughter kind of likes him, although I try and keep exposure to a minimum... I'm an old-school Sesame Street fan, but I've always loathed Elmo's super-cutesiness and vacuuous presentation. This video is okay -- there is some admirable educational content, but jeez, is Elmo whiny. And at some point in every episode there'd come a moment when I could swear I could hear my kid's brain cells popping. It's hard to find intelligent, inoffensive, unscary, nonviolent media for toddlers to enjoy, and with Elmo, I'd say two out of four ain't bad... On balance, I'd say this disc -- like other "Elmo's World" videos -- has its merits, but there are parts of it that are a little insulting to the intelligence of little viewers. Parents might want to preview it first, not because it's scary or whatever, but just to see if it's really what they want to have flooding their kid's mind. I finally decided it was too dumb, and am looking for better material. "Little Bear," maybe?

OK, i read some of the other reviews and just shook my head at some peoples reaction to this DD even i ahd my dad read this and he agreed, I have a 1 year old ad 3 year olkd sister, I'll come in the room and watch it with them sometimes, when Prarie Dawn gets blown away all the 1-year old does is say bye bye and if our little neighbor mario is over he will giggle and join in and before you knoiw it 3 toddlers watching this part having a GRAND old time watching that part when older kids are screaming in panic, try to expose your children to their fear little by little, thats how my parents got me to get over my fear of escaltors when I was 7, just expose it to them little by little and tell them the wolf isn;t going to get them, hey there are worse things my friend went face to face with a wolf when he was 8! a real one too when he was fishinbg with his sister, luckily the wolf was just after the fish strangly. Back to the DVD, the other part parents claim is scary with the tornado the 3-year old says COOL! Hey they havce to learn about torbadoes in 3rd grade, the last thing you want is your kid screming and crying because they see a tornado adn start calling the kid cry baby. Try to expose the kids to this slowly, this is not the headless horseman we're dealing with, its just foam puppets that are trying to educate our children about the world. Nobody can hide their little babies inside when they r 40 years old to hide them of the dangers of the world, they need to expierence the world, if you know what I mean learn about it, learn about strangers, weather, etc anything about the world so they are prepared when they go out on their own in this cruel world when they grow up. So parents, try to get them to watch this little by little and not ban them from this tape because they teach them about the WORLD. I know this is coming from a 13 year old but at least try to expose them to this video alittle bit.

While it's true that Elmo's World is one that most 2- to 5-year-olds wouldn't mind waking up to any day of the week, Birthdays, Games & More makes plain that, as far as preschool meccas go, this is as good as it gets. Here, the furry little red guy gets the festivities under way watching real, live kid friends festoon pretty packages with colorful bows (his way of answering the endlessly curious Dorothy's question about how to wrap a present) before tuning into the Birthday Channel for a whirlwind trip to Mexico, where ebullient kids whack away at a piñata, and Israel, where a dizzy gang dips to the ground, doing its best to put on hats sans hands. After a chat with a talking birthday cake, it's game time. A chubby baby gets his toes tweaked in a round of "This Little Piggy"; Ernie and his ducky stop by via e-mail to demonstrate hide-and-go-squeak; and a couple of kids crack Elmo up with their search for Thumbkin, first in English, then in Spanish. The games give way, in a third segment, to a pack of pets. Mr. Noodle the lovable numbskull tries to play fetch with a fish; Elmo's tricky drawer trots out a parade of lettuce, a tiger, and a Telly monster, hoping for some help with the question "What can be a pet and what can't?"; and friend Alisa shows off Fluffy, her cat, and dog Spike. Taken together, Birthdays, Games & More is 60 minutes of playful, furry fun destined to be dusted off for repeat watchings by all wannabe Elmo's World inhabitants. --Tammy La Gorce

5 out of 5 stars What kid doesn't love Elmo?.......2006-08-14

Of course my son loves this video!! He LOVES Elmo. My only complaint is that he gets upset after watching it because it's not his birthday, so I don't have cake with candles to offer him.

5 out of 5 stars My 2 year old son loves Elmo's World!.......2005-02-14

I think some of these parents that wrote these previous reviews need to lighten up! Disappointed because a Elmo video did not give you any good ideas on planning a birthday party??? (Did you also get the one on hair to see if you could get some ideas on a new hairstyle?) The bottom line is Elmo is adorable and my son LOVES these videos and wants to watch them again and again. ...and he is learning about all kinds of things throughout the series. YES! it is the same Elmo's World that we have all seen on Sesame St., that is why it is titled "Elmo's World"!! Why are you even surprised? I recommend these videos for TODDLERS highly. Someone mentioned that they find Mr. Noodle annoying. He is trying to entertain your child, not you! ... as Elmo would say "silly parent!"

4 out of 5 stars Good, but a copy from the tv show........2004-02-26

This is a very cute video but don't buy it thinking that you're getting something new. This video is comprised of three segments from the show, pets, birthday parties and something else. It's cute and very nicely done, but when you've seen it rerun many times on television before, it gets a little boring for a toddler.

2 out of 5 stars Elmo's World anytime you want.......2003-04-02

I bought this video hoping it would inspire me with some ideas for my child's birthday party. It didn't help me for that but it is a cute video and my 21 month old likes it. It is 3 Elmo World segments from the Sesame Street tv show (birthdays, games & pets). It is not a separately made movie just copies from the show.

5 out of 5 stars My daughters favorite one!.......2003-02-28

This video is by far my daughter's favorite Elmo video...I am not sure why - but the birthday segment really taught her how to blow out the candles on her birthday cake and the segment with Mr. Noodle wrapping a present had her wrapping everything in sight .."Tape, Mama, TAPE!"...she also learned how to play Simon Says from this video and Tag.....she loves the part where the kids play.....
I think it is a good video as any from the Elmo series....

You might think that this 1997 comedy based on the popular late-'50s TV series would be little more than a pointless clone of its small-screen predecessor, but as a harmless slice of family entertainment it's surprisingly easy to take. Of course nobody could ever hope to match the original Cleaver family for Eisenhower-era charm, but there's cleverness afoot in the notion of presenting the Clinton-era Cleavers with just a hint of dysfunction beneath all that domestic bliss and innocence. While Ward (Christopher McDonald) pushes his son Beaver (Cameron Finley) onto the football team to compensate for the lost glories of his bygone youth, Beaver's grades suffer along with his self-esteem. When a teacher suggests that the Cleavers seek family counseling, June (Janine Turner) has visions of Beaver in the loony bin. Meanwhile, brother Wally is wracked with guilt over dating his friend Eddie Haskell's object of affection, but eventually these various plot lines (borrowed from the TV show) converge for the requisite happy ending. What--you were expecting Beaver to become a Prozac kid? --Jeff Shannon

1 out of 5 stars Heaven forbid Hollywood ever has a original idea........2007-07-12

How far back in sit-com history are they going to go? How about a new "Amos and Andy" movie with white characters? or the Jackie Gleason Show but cast a skinny guy as Jackie Gleason? or the "William Bendix show" with Sinbad? or "Pete & Gladys" with Beyonce and M&M as the new "Gladys and Pete"? or "December Bride" with Spring Byington, but now it can be "May-December Bride" with Jennifer Lopez? or a full length feature film with Quickdraw McGraw and Baba Louie, staring Jim Carey and Ricky Martin? Actually, these aren't that bad, hmmmm, I think I'm off to Hollywood, and if anyone steals these ideas I'll sue.

4 out of 5 stars Groovy Movie.......2005-06-07

Okay, YUP-it's corny. HELLO-its based on a very popular show from the 50s and 60s, which I happen to love. Forgive the cheese factor every once in awhile and enjoy this family film!

5 out of 5 stars Leave it to the Beave!!!.......2004-12-06

"Leave It to Beaver" was one of the most popular TV shows of the late 50s-early 60s.

Beaver was the youngest member of a 50s family called the Cleavers that included Dad (Ward), Mom (June) and big brother (Wally). When the show began in 1957 Beaver was 8 and his brother Wally 12.

Tony Dow as Wally Cleaver was perhaps the most likeable and most believeable of the Cleavers. He was teen-cute and acted like an honest-to-goodness, normal 50s teenager. Jerry Mathers as the Beave was cute too but a bit of a drag as he aged on the series. He grew up quickly and at one point he was almost as tall as his TV Mom and Dad! The producers should have quit while they were ahead.

Hugh Beaumont and Barabara Billingsley as the Cleaver Dad (Ward) and Mom (June) are another story. Dad grew up on a farm and apparently he and "June" were something like high school sweethearts. I don't remember discovering exactly what Dad did for a living. He had an office "downtown" and a "den" at home where he occasionally worked. But I don't remember ever being told exactly what he did. I'm guessing he sold insurance. He spent an extraordinary amount of time however counseling, guiding, and mentoring his boys over every little thing. He was the perfect 50s dad.

Mrs. Cleaver was a wonderful fantasy character. She reminded us in a number of episodes that she grew up with her Aunt Martha and she went to boarding school. Like other TV moms of the 50s she dressed in pearls, earbobs, and crisp, attractive frocks while housecleaning. Her hair and her makeup were perfect as she went about dusting the tops of china closets and making waffles. Ma Cleaver appeared to have few interests outside the home (like charities, church activites, animal shelters, bake sales, etc.) She was always at home tending her men by pouring glasses of milk, buttering toast, and tidying the kitchen. She was never shown doing truly laborious housework - like sorting dirty laundry or mopping floors. Her household tasks were light and ladylike (slivering carrots, polishing the silver, etc.) After the dining room table was cleared in the evening and the dishes were done, she sat beside her husband on the living room couch. He read the newspaper and she sewed buttons onto what appeared to be male clothing while both chatted about the boys.

Interestingly, none of the Cleavers watched TV.

The Cleavers lived in several different houses over the lifetime of the series and in each house the boys always had their own bathroom. The boys' bathroom wasn't out in the hallway but just off their bedroom - like a master bedroom and bath. This bathroom arrangement was really peculiar. It meant that there were at least 5 bathrooms in the Cleaver house: Mom and Dad probably had their own bathroom as part of the master suite and Beaver and Wally had their own bathroom as part of their bedroom suite. That's two bathrooms. There was probably another upstairs "guest" bedroom and this bedroom must have had its own bathroom as well. That makes three bathrooms. (This guest bedroom was where June's Aunt Martha would have stayed when she visited.) And then there must have been a bathroom in the upstairs hallway and possibly a downstairs "powder room" for guests and the convenience of the family when they didn't want to run upstairs. That makes 5 bathrooms. I'm guessing the downstairs powder room was tucked somewhere at the back of the main hallway or tucked into a corner of the kitchen.

The Cleaver boys spent a great deal of time in their bedroom. Whenever they rushed into the house after school, they usually asked to be immediately "excused" from Mom and/or Dad's presence and hurried to their bedroom. Wally sat at a desk doing homework while Beave lay in bed daydreaming, kid-worrying, or playing with a toy plane, a cowboy pistol, a comic book, etc. The amount of time the Cleaver boys spent in their bedroom was very peculiar. Beaver was very, very occasionally seen on the telephone in the living room however.

The Cleaver boys had several friends: Beaver had Larry Mondello, (a fat little boy), Gilbert, Whitey, Gus (an old fireman down the street), and many more but the most memorable were two snippy, snooty girls in his class. Wally had Lumpy and Eddie Haskell. Eddie is one of TVs most beloved and best remembered characters. His Slick Slimy approach to Mom and Dad Cleaver was the most orignal touch on the series.

Other notable minor characters were Mrs. Cleaver's maiden aunt Martha, Lumpy's Dad Mr. Rutherford, and Mary Ellen Rogers, a teen classmate of Wally's.

Almost everyone (including his mom) called little Theodore Cleaver "Beaver" or "The Beave." (Exceptions were Aunt Martha and Miss Landers, the Beave's teacher.) According to one of the earliest episodes, Theodore received his nickname from his older brother Wally who, as a 4 year old, could only pronouce "Theodore" as "Tweeter." It was Ma and Pa Cleaver who refined "Tweeter" to "Beaver." The producers intended the name to suggest a perky, toothy, happy little kid.

4 out of 5 stars Great movie!.......2004-10-25

This is a good movie to see, especially after seeing the original Leave it to Beaver series that were made in the 1950s. But there were some things wrong like some of the girls were wearing miniskirts and nobody wore miniskirts until 1965 or in the late '60s. And also in the movie, I saw Wally (Erik von Detten) was kissing his girlfriend Karen (Erika Christensen). And Wally wasn't kissing any of his girlfriends in the original Leave it to Beaver series except in this one episode that was made in February 28, 1963, "Box Office Attraction", Wally's girlfriend Marlene Holmes was kissing Wally. But anyway, this movie is 10x better than "The Sandlot." You can see my review on that movie too. So it is a great movie but I still like the original series of Leave it to Beaver that was made in the '50s.

4 out of 5 stars Leave it to Beaver.......2004-08-04

Why does everyone expect this to be a TV-show clone? For gosh sakes, it would be critcized for being too akin to the TV show because it wouldn't be original. I think those people need to open their horizons.

Leave it to Beaver is an incredibly well done film. It is true to the series only in bits and pieces, but it really shines anyway.

The acting is superb. It's all excellent. No actor/actress in the film did even one thing wrong with their roles. It was truly an improvement over most Disney films.

The storyline and plot is, like most Disney films, toned down and simplified for younger kids. Their is truly only two full plots: Wally and Karen's jumbles, and Beaver's main story. See, that keeps it enjoyable for all.

The script and words themselves were written in clear, direct language. As such, Beaver has a bit of a lyspy voice, but it can be forgiven. He was young. Again, the movie's actual talk was toned down mostly for younger ones.

The movie really doesn't have SFX to talk about. Like most Disney films, it focuses on charm. It certainly chose well.

All in all, they did a great job!

2 out of 5 stars A Depiction of Perfection !!!.......2006-07-15

After veiwing this movie I was ecstatic and raced to the phone to share the wonderful feeling I was left with during the credits. My Mother, who became a caretaker for my Father for 10 long years as he gradually succumed to the devastation of Alzheimers,is now anxious to veiw the movie as well. The time span of possibly 3 years(???)portrayed the stages so impeccably, it seemed to parallel the many years of my fathers illness. The touches of humor (so desperately clung to in the beginning stages of this disease) become downward spiral eventually replaces the person who was thought to be irreplaceable, and dares us to survive the challenge of coping ,caring, and loving a stranger who, occasionally, says a phrase or hums a tune, one we thought was so long in the past, we'd never get to hear it again. These are the best of moments, for their length is just that,a pleasurable reprieve, swept from our thoughts as suddendly as it arose and replaced with seemingly constant repetative rapore, as the days of the week are explained again, and then again to Martin by his ever-patient Love, Barbara. I was saddened to find the original book written by Ulla Isaksson, was in Swedish and was not translated into english.
So much of the book, I'm sure, was impossible to cover in this two hour drama and unfortunately I'm unable to read the book on which "A Song For Martin" was based. If this is inncorrect please respond w/info on locating an english copy.

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully done movie of a fatal disease.......2006-05-05

Having been in the medical profession and dealt with Alzheimer's disease more times than I care to remember the movie was true to life and dealt with the disease and its impact on the the lives of two people in love. I have witnessed the impact on the families as well as the impact that this devistating disease has on the husband/wife or wife/husband. No Hollywood drama, but a true to life experience. The end is especially poignant; acceptance resignation and finality. This is a movie that should be of use in every physician's to help people understand Alzheimers and its impact.

5 out of 5 stars Incredible love story, realistic.......2004-12-12

*****
Unlike other reviewers, I did not see this film as depressing. That said, it is not easy to watch. It is realistic, about a powerful accomplished man who gradually disappears into his own world with Alzheimer's disease, and how this affects the love of his life who becomes his caretaker. It is poignant, and unusual, as it is rare to see love stories between older people that are portrayed realistically with the couple as having the same desires, passions, and needs as the young.

The story is not told along a physical time line (so you don't know how many months or years intervene in the story) but along an emotional time line, so that you watch as one loss after another occurs, a gradual dying instead of a sudden one. At the same time the love between the two falters, but recovers, and never dies. This is why I don't find the movie depressing. It is about the power of love.

If you have ever had losses in a relationship you will enjoy this film. Or, of course, if you live with someone with Alzheimer's. Or if you are in a relationship with someone who is mentally ill. Or if you just want to see a story of "true love", but a realistic "true love". It shows the loneliness, the isolation, and too, the triumph of love. It reminds us of what is truly important.

A previous reviewer said that this was a Norwegian movie; I had thought it was Swedish. At any rate, it is Scandinavian, with English subtitles. Instead of finding this annoying, the language seemed charming to me. The director's comments in the version I watched were in English and very interesting. I watched the whole film once, and then a second time with the director's comments, something I've only done twice before in my life. This is a film I will treasure forever and I am so glad I own.

5 out of 5 stars Powerful, sad, and compelling.......2003-09-10

A super-depressing, but well acted, and very engrossing Swedish drama about an late-middleaged couple struggling with the husband's sudden onset of Alzheimer's-based dementia. They are both high-level musicians, and the love of art intertwines their love for life, and each other. This film is very good and certainly worth watching (it's more of a European art film than an American-style disease-of-the-month flick), but it is definitely a big old downer, so be prepared.

5 out of 5 stars giggles and fun.......2007-01-24

My 14 month old loves the sesame street characters. She laughs and does her own little version of the "big kids" dance. I can actually get my bill writing done while she's watching this DVD. I don't exist when it's playing.

4 out of 5 stars Give it a chance!.......2006-12-06

The first time I put this one on my daughter walked away from the TV. I was thrilled because after a few minutes I wasn't sure that I could've sat through it anyway. We were very disappointed. I tried it again a month or so later (making her 16 months) and she enjoyed it. The more she watched it, the more it grew on me. Now we sing the songs and really get a kick out of the video.

1 out of 5 stars VERY disappointing.......2006-11-20

I love Sesame Street and I love watching it with my 16 month old daughter. However, I found this video to be a major let down. The people are so annoying. I found the flashing lights (used to make it look like American Bandstand) distracting. I can't imagine that they were good for my little one's eyes. Fortunately I rented this one from Netflix before buying. If you want a dance along Sesame video, try Zoe's Dance Moves.

2 out of 5 stars the okay movie.......2006-08-14

Not the best movie we've seen but okay. I think that it was cheap made. I must say that this was the most borring movie even thoug there was lot of music in it.

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed that it's boring.......2006-03-31

This is the only SS video that bored my toddlers. It bores me as well. It's very outdated. The one star I gave was for the Count's song I love. Other than that - save your $$, you can find many other great SS videos out there....My fav is Rock n Roll Sesame Street. Very clever and great songs for adults too.
