In his most effective thriller since Enemy of the State, Tony Scott makes time travel seem plausible. It helps that his New Orleans hero, ATF agent Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington in his third go-round with the director), spends more time in the present than the past. In order to catch a terrorist, FBI Agent Pryzwarra (Val Kilmer) invites Carlin to join forces. They have the technology to see the past. He has the expertise to interpret the data. Unfortunately, the bomb has already gone off and hundreds of ferry passengers have died. Then there's the body of a beautiful woman, Claire Kuchever (Paula Patton, Idlewild), that turns up in the vicinity of the blast. Evidence indicates she was killed beforehand. Since the FBI enables him to observe Claire prior to her murder, Carlin gets to know what she was like and finds himself falling in love. He becomes convinced that the only way to solve the case--and prove her innocence--is to travel to the past. But as Pryzwarra's colleague, Denny (Adam Goldberg), argues, "You cannot go back in time. It's physically impossible." Or so he says. Déjà Vu is constructed around a clever script and executed by a top-notch cast, notably Washington, Patton, and an eerie Jim Caviezel (miles away from Passion of the Christ). In shedding the excesses of recent years--the sadism of Man on Fire and weirdness of Tarantino favorite Domino--Scott re-affirms his rep as one of the action movie's finest practitioners. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Not bad for a time travel movie.......2007-09-10
The first point is the acting. It had too small of part for Kilmer, but all the acting is top notched. Denzel plays a guy who is good at his job and is morally upright, who uses his charm to speed up the bureaucratic process. Caviezel was intense and good. The plot was good. The trouble with the plot was that once Denzel goes back in time, he should not have been able to change the past. For example, the Twelve Monkeys did this well. However, since it was Denzel Washington, the past had to change. What happens to Denzel once he went back in time was pretty obvious to this viewer.
There was a previous reviewer who said the science made perfect sense and was straight-forward. Funny. The movie was about time travel and worm holes. Give me a break. People watch NOVA a few times and think they understand space and time. I have a physics degree, I did not understand their mumblings, and I thought it was silly. They explained the massive energy requirements by having the lights of the city dim when the time machine was in operation (stolen from Weird Science?).
The movie for a while reminded me of "Laura" in which a detective falls in love with a portrait of the supposedly dead victim. Who wouldn't fall in love with Gene Tierney or Paula Patton? I thought they should have kept working with that idea instead of the time travel, but the problem was that this victim was very dead indeed.
The movie had some very interesting ideas. The car chase scene was very good. How well they tied in the future and the past was very good. The problem was that once you figure out what is going to happen to Denzel and Paula, the movie lost its edge and excitement for me.
He killed her four days ago! You were at the funeral, what's wrong with you?.......2007-09-08
An ATF agent, Doug Carlin, is called in to investigate a ferry explosion.
During his investigation he stumbles upon the body of a murdered girl. He knows she is somehow connected to the bombing. With the help of some very high-tech, Einstein inspired, government equipment, he is able to watch the last four days of her life.
As he watches her last moments, he cannot stop himself from falling in love with her and becomes determined to recover her life. Carlin needs to travel back in time, save the girl and stop the terrorist, but has to be quick for the clock is ticking....
A Tony Scott/Denzel Washington collaboration is always worth watching as they usually deliver a movie with an intricate plot, thrilling action sequences, and characters that are driven by their emotions. These are rare qualities in action movies to-day. Déjà vu is no exception for it has all these qualities and more. The supporting cast is fantastic, a sublime Adam Goldberg makes a great super intelligent and witty side kick to Washington and Jim Caviezel is unnerving as the psychopath who believes his actions are for a greater good. Be warned; if you are a Val Kilmer fan, you will be a little bit disappointed as he seems to be a bystander in most events and not a participant. I have the impression that most of his scenes ended up on the cutting room floor.
Like all time travel stories it will leave you with questions e.g. if this event did not take place how come Carlin knew to go back and stop it happening. Unfortunately as with all time travel tales I don't think this can be avoided but don't get too hung up about it; just let it wash over you and enjoy the film. The ending is slightly weak and leans towards the saccharin but you can forgive Déjà Vu these few flaws. This is the thinking person's action movie and after you have watched it you will probably be compelled to watch it all over again.
Deja Vu DVD.......2007-08-30
Denzel Washington seems to know how to choose the right scripts. This movie is so intense--and convoluted--it really makes you think in order to keep up. Together with a great cast, he puts this one over and makes it believable. It meets our criteria of "clean entertainment" and is a great addition to our home collection. We got it from Amazon fast and in super condition--as usual.
Since when did voyeurism become a virtue?.......2007-08-28
The premise of this movie is an interesting one. Denzel Washington is an ATF agent who while investigating a ferry explosion is recruited by a group of government funded techno nerds who have a device which can see backwards in time.
Somehow their mission mostly involves observing the leading actress in the shower and also walking around her apt in her underwear. Denzel is suddenly smitten and decides he has to go back in time to save not 300 victims in a ferry explosion but one woman he has seen in her underwear. This is Hollywood at its most insipid and this would have been a pretty decent movie if it wasn't for this adolescent spin.
What If You Could Change The Past..........2007-08-24
So, what does it take for a movie to get my attention? It's an assortment of factors, some of them would be the following: a story that appears intriguing, a director attached that has a solid record of hits, a star or group of stars that I'm a fan of, or merely be a sequel to a movie that I enjoyed. Many times it only takes one of those items to get me interested in a movie, but sometimes it helps to have more than one factor working to a movie's advantage. This is the case of the action-packed thrill ride "Deja Vu" that stars Denzel Washington (one of my favorite actors), is directed by Tony Scott (director of "Man on Fire"), and is produced by uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer (whose movies I thoroughly enjoy 9 times out of 10). With all of those factors together in one movie, this was definitely one film that I wanted to see from the moment I saw the first trailer.
"Deja Vu" focuses on federal agent Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington) being called in to recover evidence from a deadly ferry explosion that rocked New Orleans. While working the case, Doug is pulled aside to aide in a top-secret government experiment dealing with time-shifting surveillance, basically they can watch events of the past as if it were in the present. The team behind the experiment is hoping that this revolutionary technology will allow them to see the crime before it happened in hopes of catching the person(s) responsible for the heinous act. But can this technology assist in changing the past or merely watching it from the sidelines?
Here is a movie that caught me completely by surprise. I was fairly confident that I was going to be in for an enjoyable action-packed thrill ride, based solely on the facts that Jerry Bruckheimer was producing (a man known for delivering the best action movies in Hollywood) and Tony Scott was directing (whose use of quick cuts and groundbreaking camera work has created some of the most thrilling sequences put to film). Sure this movie delivered explosive action and intensity, but what I didn't expect was the use of so much science fiction with the concept of bending time and even some time travel. Surprisingly, the sci-fi aspect actually worked for the film, which couldn't have been easy to execute due to time-themed science fiction being rather difficult to pull off in a way that makes sense, and doesn't create plot holes within the story. But the writers of this movie managed to craft a story that was filled with plenty of action, intriguing drama, and some sci-fi thrown in to mix things up a little bit without allowing the story to become bloated and clunky. Another aspect of this movie that surprised me was Tony Scott's seemingly more reserved direction. After filming both "Man on Fire" and "Domino" with such frantic camera work, extremely fast cuts and stylistic color manipulation, it was somewhat relaxing to watch a much more straightforward approach to movie making from this talented director.
Denzel Washington was superb as always in his role as federal agent Doug Carlin. He handles the action and drama with great ease, and even the science fiction aspect seemed like second nature to him, which is a genre he's had very little experience with (his last foray into sci-fi was the lackluster film "Virtuosity"). The main supporting cast comprised of Val Kilmer and Jim Caviezel provided interesting, three-dimensional characters from a script that seemed to have them painted very thinly, based on their roles and screen time, but these two talented actors made the most of what they were given. It was nice to see Val Kilmer back on the big screen, he's a gifted actor that it seems like we don't see much from anymore (though that may have something to do with his apparent weight gain, a career ender for some in Hollywood). The remainder of the cast were all solid, but weremade up of fairly run-of-the-mill filler characters that were used mostly for exposition.
"Deja Vu" is a surprisingly original, entertaining thril-ride that grabs you from the opening sequence and never lets go. This is a movie that is a definite must-see, and one that is fun to watch time and again.
"Deja Vu" is rated PG-13 for violence, language, and brief nudity/sensuality.

Getting THE Science Fiction Right.......2007-09-13
*Déjà Vu* is the perfect blend of science fiction and action film for the average movie watcher as well as the science fiction fan. At its core, it is a thrilling, well paced action adventure story about an ATF agent, Doug Carlin, investigating a terrorist bombing on a ferry full of US Navy sailors in New Orleans. 540 people are killed in the massive explosion, but one young woman's body washes up and doesn't seem to fit with the other victims; though it looks like a victim of the explosion, the body was discovered 8 minutes before the bomb went off. Other pieces of evidence regarding this victim quickly lead Carlin to roughly piece together where she fits in the puzzle; unfortunately, none of it is enough to provide leads to the perpetrator.
When Carlin presents his information to the FBI agents in charge, they are quickly impressed by his keen ability to size up a crime scene and filter out the noise from the pertinent details. They invite him to join a new test project that uses the latest technology to analyze a crime scene. Though the FBI and scientists involved try to hide the true nature of the technology, it doesn't take agent Carlin long to realize that there is more to it than advanced surveillance camera processing. This is where the science fiction weaves itself into the crime action drama film. While testing a new high-powered telescope technology, a way to bend the fabric of space/time is discovered, allowing the ability to watch the past in "real time" exactly 4+ days before.
What makes this film work so well is that the action mostly takes place in the present, but the technology leads to some very good storytelling and the most interesting car chase ever conceived. I had read in some positive reviews that as good as it was it didn't fully make sense...well they are wrong - it complete sense - just pay attention to the details along the way and the story comes together nicely. Yes, there are a few inconsistencies - whose explanations probably were left on the cutting room floor to keep the film well paced - but they are small. If you have a basic understanding of the physics and space/time you can piece them together yourselves; if you are not, don't worry and ignore them because they don't take away from this very film.
DeJavu.......2007-09-01
The story line was interesting , different and exhilarating. Unique movie allowing one to see the possibilities of things to happen with computer technology, and get one to wonder if it is possible to change happenings with cutting edge technology of computers. The sound and picture quality is excellent with the Blu-ray format.
Deja Vu all over again.......2007-08-21
Déjà Vu (DVD)
Déjà Vu starring Denzel Washington is an outstanding movie. Of course I don't know if Denzel was ever in a bad movie. Anyhow, the movie has a slight Science Fiction aura, its basic premise is a machine that can look back in time for approximately 96 hours, no more, no less. A ferry is blown up and this machine is used to solve the crime. The movie is set in the city of New Orleans, BTW.

This Rocks !!!.......2007-08-16
I have to say was entertaining. The premise was silly and Denzel Washington has played this role before in alot of his movies. There is no escaping the fact that the movie looks and sound excellent on blu-ray. You would be stupid if didn't add this movie to you collection. It's one of the best Blu-ray title on the market. You won't be disappointed.
Great movie!!!.......2007-08-14
Great action movie that really keeps your attention until the end. Denzel Washington has an outstanding performance that again does not disappoint. Worth the money to have on blu-ray if you ask me.

Falling neatly into the Enchanted April and Under the Tuscan Sun category, the made-for-HBO My House in Umbria boasts lovely Italian vistas and comforting Englishness. But it begins with a note of violence: on a train rolling through the sunny countryside, a terrorist bomb detonates, killing a handful of passengers. The strangers that survive recuperate at the villa of an eccentric but kindly romance novelist, also a survivor of the blast. She's played by Maggie Smith, who bustles through the role with a pleasing mix of gin and daffodils. Chris Cooper is an uptight American who comes to the villa to pick up his orphaned niece and bristles at the bohemian atmosphere. Director Richard Loncraine maintains the melancholy mood amidst the sun-dappled gardens of Umbria, but Smith really holds the film together with her authority and slightly tipsy humor. --Robert Horton
Description
Based on the acclaimed novel by William Trevor, My House in Umbria is a charming, evocative drama about a group of travelers in Italy who find solace and friendship after being thrown together by tragedy.

Writer with grappa seeks lover.......2007-08-16
Emily Delahunty has acquired four guests in her cosy Italian country mansion. She's revelling in the intimacy, eagerly dropping beads about her adventurous past; although now, it seems, she has settled here in the groves of Umbria as an author of romance paperbacks with titles such as "Two on a Sunbeam."
When she's splitting peas in the solid, vintage kitchen with Werner she is sincere and caring. With Thomas Riversmith, a university professor who studies the red carpenter ant, Emily is begging for jungle romance. Confiding unabashedly, she holds back nothing from her twirly past. The disgusted Tom shrinks from her almost body to body conversations and regards her love books as trash for the desperate. While she fancies that they might be courting an affair, Tom fears her boldness, looking forward to returning to America with his niece Aimee. Wickedly she smiles: "A few weeks with the right woman and all his little irritations would soon disappear."
"What Mrs. Emily Delahunty requires is a faucet of passion. Sloshing her grappa around the old world Umbrian mansion she speaks of her memories--an obliterated childhood; of numerous, disappointing men and a vanished youth in the Cafe Rose where she was obliged to entertain sweaty gentlemen.
Tom will return to America with Aimee in the morning. Needing to be a mother to the child of sunlight, Emily is in a restless fever. With two glasses and a bottle of grappa, she wakes him, her satin dressing gown flowing open. Again he is annoyed with her. Her sad face beseeches him: "It's unkind to call me Mrs. Delahunty, Tom. It's not even my real name." Though decidedly drunk, Emily exposes his guilt with wisdom then splashes grappa over his pajamas.
The writer of "bodice-rippers" triumphs and the novel of her Umbrian life ends with:
"In the garden, the delphiniums were in flower. Through scented twilight the girl in the white dress walked with a step as light as a morning cobweb. That evening, she hadn't a care in the world."
Relax and sip lemonade with My House in Umbria. You'll be singing "Rosa's Song" along with the jaunty Italian maid as she irons in the fragrant yard.
Not Entirely A Chick Flick.......2007-08-14
"My House in Umbria," released by HBO Studios in 2003 certainly walks like a chick flick and talks like a chick flick. It's set in the beautiful Umbrian countryside of Italy, thereby strongly resembling chick flicks set in Tuscany, or Provence, or wherever. And it stars the magnifico Dame Maggie Smith, who can carry any movie, let alone a chick flick, on her own.
Smith plays Mrs. Emily Delahunty, nicely-fixed English romance novelist, passing her life in the peaceful Umbrian countryside, with an overcooked outfit for every day of the week. However, she takes the train into Milan monthly to shop. As the picture opens, she's just catching that train, getting acquainted with her compartment mates. But a bomb shatters the peace, and when the smoke's cleared, each of her compartment mates has lost their nearest and dearest. An elderly English general, played by noted comedian Ronnie Barker, has lost his only child, a daughter, and his son-in-law. The young German, Werner, has lost his girlfriend. And the child, Aimee, has lost her mother and father. So, after the hospital releases them all on the same day, Mrs. Delahunty scoops them all up and takes them to her villa to recover, in mind and body. Former heart throb Giancarlo Giannini plays the Italian police detective who comes around now and then investigating the bomb. Timothy Spall plays Mrs. Delehunty's reliable Man Friday. And Chris Cooper plays Aimee's uncle, estranged since before her birth from his sister: he's a puritanical academic. (Do they really make such people? I've sure never met one).
So, aside from the fact that the movie opens with a spurt of bloody violence, how else does it differ from your average chick flick? To begin with, it's based on a novella by William Trevor, an admired Irish author resident in England. His work is mysterious, threatening; never soothing. The telescript is by well-known playwright Hugh Whitemore, distinctly high-brow; doubt that he's ever written anything even slightly chicky. And let's look at the film itself. Mrs. Delehunty is the product of an abused childhood, nor was her young adulthood any too healthy. She drinks quite a bit, as the English sometimes do, morning, noon and night, as it happens. (Some of what she does might not have been done by a sober woman.) And her (always charming) drunkenness does upset Aimee's supposedly straight-laced uncle. Well, really. But the movie does come with a happy tear-jerker of an ending. Still, is it a chick flick? Not entirely.
Brilliant!.......2007-07-28
From beginning to the end, the brilliant Maggie Smith takes you on a marvelous journey. No part of this film disapoints!
Excellent movie.......2007-07-12
This movie is amazing. It is full of life and heart, and the characters are very real. I have watched it many times, and each time I am inspired.
A multistory level story of healing to delight for the whole family.......2007-06-08
This movie has wonderful, lovable characters that take you through joy, sadness, hope, challenge and especially teamwork with caring....setting is beautiful, Maggie Smith her gorgeous best.....it is the kind of story that could motivate some wonderful family discussions albeit with some difficult and some lovely themes and topics....I have given it to many people for gifts...one set of grandparents who have experienced a granddaughter muted by loss to another friend who consulted on the garden at my new house. A very highly recommended movie.

The political becomes personal in 9/11: Press for Truth, which examines the World Trade Center attacks from the perspective of the families who lost loved ones. Written and directed by Ray Nowosielski, the documentary draws partly from Paul Thompson's website-turned-book, The Terror Timeline, and much of the commentary comes from Lorie Van Auken, Patty Casazza, and Mindy Kleinberg, three of the "Jersey Girls." Along with Kristen Breitweiser, the 9/11 widows have become activists in its wake. As Casazza says, "We all had questions...and wanted answers." The primary one was: How could this happen? Interestingly, two of the women voted for Bush. Casazza adds, "Even though he should have been our biggest advocate, he turned into one of our biggest adversaries." Together with eight other spouses, parents, etc., they form the Family Steering Committee and lobby for an independent commission, which comes to pass, but fails to deliver the goods. The widows find more useful information in Thompson's timeline, which he compiled using material in the public domain (Thompson also appears in the film). The style of 9/11: Press for Truth couldn't be more conventional--talking heads, television footage, omniscient narrator, relentless score--but the personal approach makes it a valuable addition to the rapidly-growing list of 9/11 documentaries. The point is, to quote Patti Smith, "people have the power"--people like the Jersey Girls, Paul Thompson, and all the other ordinary citizens who have kept pressure on our elected officials and the news media to dig deeper and work harder. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
Description
The Coverup Exposed By The 9/11 Families
"They lied, they all lied." --Patty Casazza (one of the "Jersey Girls")
"We don't know the whole story, not at all" -- Lorie Van Auken (one of the "Jersey Girls")
"9/11 was the biggest 'don't ask-don't tell" --Sally Regenhard, lost Firefighter son.
"Press for Truth" is an astonishing portrayal of the lengths our public servants will go to protect themselves from any accountability. --Scott Horton, Antiwar.com
Although independent investigations began within weeks of both Pearl Harbor and the Kennedy assassination, the same was not true of the attacks of September 11th. Most are unaware that formation of the 9/11 Commission was strongly opposed by many in Washington, including the Bush administration. It was only due to pressure from the 9/11 families, led by a particular twelve calling themselves the Family Steering Committee, that, fourteen months after the attacks, the first hearing finally began. These twelve remained active in monitoring the Commission's investigation, providing a list of hundreds of specific, well-researched questions to the Commissioners. In the end, the 9/11 Commission Final Report failed to answer seventy percent of them.
In 9/11 PRESS FOR TRUTH, five of the most prominent members of the Family Steering Committee, including interviews with three of the "Jersey Girls," tell their story for the first time, providing the most powerful argument yet for why 9/11 still needs investigation. Adapting Paul Thompson's definitive Complete 9/11 Timeline (published by Harper-Collins as The Terror Timeline), the filmmakers stitch together rare, overlooked news clips, buried stories, and government press conferences, revealing a pattern of official lies, deception, and spin.
Customer Reviews:
Lots of unanswered questions.......2007-09-06
This is frustrating to watch because there is so much we don't know about 9/11 and nobody seems to care. Very well made & produced.
Well-crafted 9/11 documentary, good intro to 9/11 Truth.......2007-08-22
This film is a quality, professional production that details many of the glaring lies and contradictions in the U.S. Government's story about the 9/11 Attacks. It shows many mainstream acknowledged details about foreknowledge of attacks and exposes connections between the CIA, Pakistani ISI, and Bin Laden's Al Qaeda fighters. It could have gone much farther in presenting damning evidence, but it sticks to the details that support a "let it happen on purpose" hypothesis. The film relies heavily on Paul Thompson's timeline surrounding 9/11 and the efforts of the Jersey widows to get the government to respond to their questions about 9/11. Their testimony reveals that most of their questions and concerns were ignored by the government, as a majority of 9/11 families now support further investigation and distrust the government. This movie shows that the 9/11 Truth movement honors the dead and their families by seeking the truth and justice pertaining to those events. Those who truly dishonor the families of those killed in the attacks are the government and media gangsters who suppress new investigations and defend the litany of lies offered by the government.
Doesn't go far enough..........2007-08-19
This is a good movie which gently exposes the Truth of 9/11 but it does not cover the real conspiracy behind the crime.
A careful, low-key conspiracy theory expose.......2007-08-08
As someone who long ago abandoned belief in the "official" story, it seems to me that the strength of this film is its introduction of the basics of the alternative explanations of what really happened, in a manner so matter-of-fact that the average viewer will not be so quick to deny them. This, and the conventional, mainstream sources sited position this as a potential breakthrough film for the 9/11 truth movement.
Anyone open-minded and interested enough to want more info should check out The Terror Timeline, written by Paul Thompson, the "citizen journalist" that appears in the film. Although the information in this book is certainly highly suggestive on its own merits, Mr. Thompson has taken an even-handed approach that allow individuals to draw their own conclusions.

Description
This is the official version created (and endorsed) by director Sofia Smallstorm.
"Watch and decide for yourself." - Rosie O'Donnell
"Excellent. The best of the 9/11 movies." - David Ray
Griffin, author of The New Pearl Harbor
"An outstanding contribution to understanding 9/11. Simply superb." - James H. Fetzer, founder, Scholars for 911 Truth
"WOW! is my reaction to this movie. - Steven E. Jones, physics professor, Brigham Young University
"A superb work and asset to the patriot community and America itself." - Aaron Russo, producer/director, America: From Freedom to Fascism
Tall buildings shatter in 10 seconds; steel beams buckle as if crushed by Superman; a volcano of ash darkens the sky. Can jet fuel perform such a feat?
911 Mysteries is a careful deconstruction of the official story set alongside clean, clear science. It is ninety-minutes of pure demolition evidence and analysis, laced with eye opening witness testimonials.
The 9/11 picture is not one of politics or nationalism or loyalty, but one of strict and simple physics: How do you get a 10-second,110-story pancake collapse of a major structure?
This is the film that might actually reach out to mainstream America-no agenda, no finger-pointing-just the facts and "mysteries." It is a story of people. Willie Rodriguez's recollection of strange noises on the 34th floor, and Scott Forbes' similar story. Who was up there bumping around just weeks before the towers fell?
This is also the story of blasting itself; how shaped charges are strategically placed to slice through steel beams, allowing total control of how a building falls. This information helps give a better understanding of how a building can be purposely set to collapse and shed insight into what happened on the fateful day of 9/11.

Just another hate Bush documentary........2007-09-17
You conspiracy nuts need to really get a life. If it were an inside job, then who attacked WTC in 1993, Clinton? And where are all these people that were involved in such a big job? And how long would it have taken for the government to setup such explosives? Your guys never take these basic thoughts into mind. There is not one person that can claim they were involved in plotting planning or setting up these so-called explosives. And no one heard them or saw them putting these explosives on two 110 story buildings and WTC7?
You people don't really care about facts, you're just driven by this blind hatred for Bush and you'll buy into any conjured up idea that can make Bush look bad.
The rest of America can see right through these hate Bush propaganda that are in everyone's face. They will keep making more of them and feeding themselves more and more hatred for the rest of us Americans that don't blame the Government. The real truth is they are just haters and have brainwashed themselves paranoid of the their own government that give them their freedoms which they claim they don't have.
911 INSIDE JOB .......2007-09-14
I say worth every penny I spent. The events of September the 11th, 2001 forever changed the world. 9/11/2001 has been used to justify two major wars (with more wars to come) and a dramatic increase in both the size and scope of domestic law enforcement.
How much do we really know about 9/11/2001? We need more Americans to buy items like this to help expose those really responsible for 9-11-2001 within our own government.
Absolutely a must!.......2007-09-09
This is an excellent, very educative, documentary on 9-11. Well researched and accurately presented material. If this movie does not affect your consciousness, you are in a hopeless denial.
If There Is Any Film That Needs To Be Seen This Is It.......2007-08-16
If you don't know yet that 9/11 was an inside job, see this film and be prepared to cry.
Many questions do remain about 9/11. However, whether it was false flag terrorism is not one of them, as this film makes abundantly clear. It carries the smoking gun visual footage that makes the unassailable case.
Everyone in the Western world needs to see this film.
Garbage.......2007-08-14
Most of the concepts in this movie your typical conspiracy theory. I am amazed the amount of garbage that people will believe. I would avoid this moive at all costs since it is based on proven lies.

It's a good thing Sandra Bullock knows her strengths and weaknesses, because without Bullock as star and producer, Miss Congeniality would be an insufferable mess as opposed to being a mildly enjoyable trifle that is custom-made for Bullock's established screen persona. Only Bullock's fans could really appreciate this fluff (even then they'll wish its ripe premise had been more intelligently handled), but it's not without some highlights to accompany Bullock's reliable charms. Here she plays clumsy, nerdy FBI agent Gracie Hart, who is given the horrific pseudonym Gracie Lou Freebush (one example of the movie's juvenile tendencies) when assigned to infiltrate a beauty pageant to investigate threats of a terrorist attack.
Transforming Bullock from frumpy to stunning is a piece of cake (although she gives pageant coach Michael Caine a run for his money), so the movie's premise is trivial at best. More enjoyable is her character's uncouth disdain for pageant contestants and her mistaken perception that they're all a bunch of bimbos. The movie nicely charts Gracie's realization that her own pageant makeover provides a much-needed ego boost. In addition to Caine's effortless scene-stealing, pageant host William Shatner and organizer Candice Bergen are smart choices for comedic support (Shatner's a perfect Bert Parks wannabe), but the movie desperately needs a credible foundation for its comedy to really pay off. Bullock's bureau boss (Benjamin Bratt) is an unconvincing dimwit, and none of the plotting is as smart as say Beverly Hills Cop in combining procedure with laughs. That leaves Bullock to carry the burden of a comedy that just barely works in her favor. --Jeff Shannon
Description
Sandra Bullock stars as a bumbling female FBI agent assigned to go undercover as a participant in the Miss United States beauty pageant when it is discovered that one of the contestants is being targeted for murder. Benjamin Bratt leads the undercover team, while also playing the reluctant love interest. Candice Bergen and William Shatner manage the pageant and hire Michael Caine to turn Bullock from rough and tumble agent to stunning beauty queen. The physical transformation is impressive, although the klutzy personality remains. Everything seems to be fine once the killer is suddenly caught, but Bullock suspects there is more to this story, and the truth eventually unfolds with an unexpected twist. For her part, Bullock received a Golden Globe nomination for best actress, and heads the star-studded cast in the year's most hilarious comedy.

She's a wiener!**.......2007-05-23
** From the lyrics to Tom Jones' hit song "She's a Lady" (played over the closing credits):
Well, she's all you'll ever want
She's the kind I'd like to flaunt
And take to deener.
Well she always knows her place
She's got style, she's got grace
She's a wiener!
I put off watching this movie for a long time, as I generally don't laugh at the comedies Hollywood produces these days. When I did finally watch, however, I had a wonderful hour and a half. It is an absurd situation - an FBI agent (Sandra Bullock) must transform herself from a tough tomboy to a beauty pageant contestant in just two days in order to thwart a unibomber-type domestic terrorist who has targeted the Miss United States pageant.
Bullock is charming, as is the entire supporting cast - including William Shatner who seems to be having fun in his Bert Parks-like pageant emcee role. Michael Caine glides lightly in his loafers as Bullock's handler and makeover artiste.
All in all, a very enjoyable way to spend an evening. Congratulations to everyone involved in making a light and fun piece of entertainment. "Miss Congeniality" is a real wiener!

FBI Sandra - rulezzzz !!!.......2007-01-25
The directors have done a superb job. Making Sandra Bullock very believable as a sloppy woman not taking care of herself. Some good comedy and a 'nice' story. A general all round, this film won't have you guessing the plot, but it does invoke that feel good factor.
This film was incredibly funny and it must be viewed several times before all the jokes and gags have been made clear. Fantastic movie!
Just Love this gal! Sandra Bullock is just wonderful in every part she plays!.......2007-01-21
This gal could do a movie standing on her head and I'd love it. She is one of my favorites. She is a gifted actor. She is funny and plays the comedian and yet can take being humiliated like water off a duck! She can be serious and tug at your heart. She is talented enough to meet it all. I have just about movie she performs in. She's a trip...literally!
Miss Congeniality.......2007-01-10
An interesting, if implausible, plot. The story is followable, which is often not true of contemporary films. The plot is well timed.

Description
With the increasing controversy surrounding the federal probe into the September 11 terrorist attacks, GNN decided to pre-empt the government and produce its own version of a `truth commission' with AFTERMATH: Unanswered Question from 9/11.
What did the Bush administration know and when? Should airlines have been more prepared for 9/11? What ties did the US government have, if any, with the terrorists?
AfterMath delves into the troubling span of issues that have arisen since the attacks on 9/11, including:
- the negligence of military officials in reacting to the hijackings, - proven links between the hijackers, Pakistani intelligence (ISI) and the CIA - the role of oil in the Eurasian conflict, - the impact of post-911 legislation on American civil liberties.
The film poses questions that continue to overshadow and critically challenge the administration's official version of the story, and is a must see for those who continue to question the terrible and as yet unexplained events of that day.
Extras Over 90 minutes bonus footage Extended interview clips Live panel discussion featuring George Soros, Mike Ruppert, Nafeez Ahmed and more!
Narration and original score by hip-hop legend Paris.

Too Little But Not Too Late.......2007-09-06
This video is fine as a short and sweet introduction to 9/11 issues, but leaves informed viewers asking "where's the beef?" A far superior film addressing similar testimony that I would rate a "4" is "9/11: Press for Truth" which again, I would say is important, but "introductory," material that illustrates the sham of the 9/11 Commission. Two "five-star" DVDs after this are "911: In Plane Site" and "9/11 Mysteries: Part 1: Demolitions," both of which will rock your world with hard evidence not only of negligence and foreknowledge by powers in "high places," but circumstantially point to the disturbing reality of lies, fabrication, and collusion. Follow these up with Alex Jones' "Terrorstorm" and/or "Martial Law 9-11: Rise of the Police State" and you'll get a fairly complete picture of the "why?" behind the truth. Jones' alarmist tone can be annoying, but his research and conclusions are pretty solid--as I said, he provides a "big picture" look at the global politics and purpose for orchestrating such an event. Also, related to 9/11 for those interested in the history and future of Islamic terrorism, politics and prophecy pertaining to war in the Middle East, read Dave Hunt's "Judgment Day! Islam, Israel, and the Nations," and view the DVD, "Israel, Islam, and Armageddon."
Conspiracy?.......2007-07-23
I am intrigued by this short DVD about the effect that 9/11 has played on the american psyche. it is informative and leaves you wondering about the quesions posed and the bills that have passed through the senate. It has certainly opened up a new area in the living world about what our governments are doing to protect us or themselves?
Mandatory viewing!.......2007-07-06
It is essential to watch not just the movie, but the special features on this DVD; all of them. While there is a lot more information out in the world and on the Internet regarding 9/11 and the truth that dare not speak its name, much of it is concentrated on this DVD. From here, with computer links, one can explore as far and wide as the eye (and heart) can see.
We all should be asking these questions - and it is upon us as American citizens to be demanding answers, while our citizenship still means anything at all!
Fahrenheit 9/11 (Dol)
Good additional material to 9/11 Mysteries.......2007-03-18
This is interesting, but the most convincing 9/11 conspiracy documentary was 9/11 mysteries.
Aftermath: Unanswered Questions from 9/11.......2007-02-06
First I want to say that the shipping and service was first rate. This movie was OK, but it was not the movie I thought I was ordering. That is no fault of the seller. There is another that is more informative that I still have not located. This one is good as a warm-up to one I saw at a friends home. This movie is thought provoking, but it is a toned down version of the other whose title I am not sure of.

Completing a trilogy that should be required viewing for all Americans, Unconstitutional explicitly reveals how the USA Patriot Act violates numerous civil liberties guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. Following the equally persuasive documentaries Unprecedented: The 2000 Presidential Election and Uncovered: The Whole Truth About the Iraq War, this film presents powerful and tragic examples of how the USA Patriot Act--passed with virtually no Congressional debate just 45 days after the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01--has been used to justify the unconstitutional arrest of innocent immigrants based on Arab stereotyping; the illegal detention of vaguely defined "suspects" and their improper treatment (including beatings and torture) during extended confinement; prisoner abuse of alleged terrorism suspects in Guantanamo Bay military prison; the allowance of improper search and seizure without due cause; prohibited travel based on racial profiling; bully tactics employed with impunity by local police in efforts to undermine free speech; and other clear indications of the Patriot Act's unconstitutional enforcement. The more personal these stories of violation are, the more gut-wrenching is the realization that U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft--and by extension, the George W. Bush administration--have used the Patriot Act to justify what is essentially a dictatorial police state.
Sponsored by the American Civil Liberties Union and full of bipartisan testimony by lawyers, politicians, and victims of Patriot Act abuse, Unconstitutional makes an eloquent case for the careful interpretation of Constitutional law, exploring rising opposition to Patriot Act abuses while exposing how many of our freedoms have been undermined in the name of post-9/11 security. Regardless of your political affiliation, this is a chilling reminder of how seemingly good intentions can corrupt even our most cherished American values. --Jeff Shannon
Description
Unconstitutional: The War on Our Civil Liberties is the new, hour-long documentary from Robert Greenwald - one of the most prolific and progressive producers in Hollywood - in conjunction with the ACLU. This new film, written, directed and produced by Nonny de la Peña, details the shocking way that the civil liberties of American citizens and immigrants alike have been infringed upon, curtailed and rolled back since 9/11 and the USA Patriot Act.
Autumn of 2001 brought us assaults against Americans' comfort zone on many fronts. We learned that we could fall victim to attacks on US soil, and we learned that those guarantees provided to us in the Constitution were equally vulnerable.
Unconstitutional is the third in a series of Public Interest Pictures films that follows Unprecedented: The 2000 Election and Uncovered: The Whole Truth About the Iraq War. True to their legacy, Unconstitutional provides the facts and stories that illuminate administration lies, wrongheaded policies and the real victims of these actions - the American people.
Here, you'll get the real story behind the USA PATRIOT Act and other administration policies and the gut wrenching stories behind those affected - from law abiding sales clerks to United States Olympians unable to travel. It'll remind you of what America used to stand for and what it seems we're falling for now. In short, this film will affirm why you're angry and give you a tool to help others join your ranks.

It's the end of the innocence.......2007-05-11
As with all documentaries I've seen by Robert Greenwald, he enlists experts to give credible testimony to support the information in his programs. In `Unconstitutional' you are able to hear from experts on legal analysis and constitutional law along with counter-terrorism specialists to confirm the disturbing information about our disappearing rights and civil liberties.
Just over a month after the cowardly attacks of September 11, 2001, American citizens were presented with the `Patriot Act' which was, in essence, protections for citizens against terrorism and tools for the war on terror. If it was such a good plan, why did the Bush administration present it to Congress and tell them not to hold hearings on its contents which would then avoid any public input whatsoever? To add insult to injury, this legislative bill was presented to Congress before anyone had a chance to review its contents but it still passed with overwhelming support. It even contained provisions that Congress previously rejected before 9-11 ever happened. Using the cover of terrorism, the `Patriot Act' largely and inappropriately expanded the power of federal law enforcement which may haunt us for many years to come.
Not long after 9-11 occurred, federal law enforcement began to indiscriminately arrest and detain immigrants from Arab and Muslim countries. This sinister trend began to look suspiciously like ethnic or religious profiling not to mention targeting someone because of stereotypes. Those that were victims of the system were subjected to solitary confinement, inhumane treatment, no contact with the outside world whatsoever, and no due process of the legal system. The phrase `guilty until proven innocent' immediately springs to mind and it fits the equation. The Justice Department even coined a term for this nefarious activity. It was the `hold until clear' policy.
A solution was even found to incarcerate those detained (in the interests of the war on terror) outside of the United States. It was in the form of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. This opens up a completely new level of questionable legalities due to the known information. First, those confined in this facility are not subject to legal restrictions. Secondly, everyone here is not subject to constitutional protections because they are not being held in a United States territory. Lastly, no one is subject to the Geneva Convention because they are not combatants and therefore are not considered prisoners of war. As the war on terror continues, it becomes readily apparent that the government makes the rules as they go to fit their agenda.
When it comes to your expectation of privacy as a citizen, well, that is right out the window. Without probable cause, federal law enforcement agencies can check your employment, medical, and bank records without your approval. Oh, your email traffic and internet browsing history isn't confidential either. And if that's not enough, the `Patriot Act' also allows for secret search warrants of your home and wiretaps of your phones, again without your permission. Big Brother is not only watching you now, it is smothering you and taking away the protections that the Constitution has promised you for over 200 years.
`Unconstitutional' is a very good documentary, in my opinion, and it relates a very serious message that every American citizen absolutely needs to hear. It can also be interpreted as a warning of sorts of what is to come in the future if no attempts are made to change these dangerous policies. A government for the people, by the people, and of the people should be just that and not an all-powerful administration teetering on the edge of totalitarian control. I highly recommend this documentary to everyone and I commend the producer for his courageous work.
Wonderful job documenting frightening loss of our rights.......2007-04-28
Greenwald does it again. He's produced a well-crafted film showing clearly some of the substantial losses and further threats to our civil liberties by the fiercely anti-democratic Bush administration. You see a wide range of folks who've been personally oppressed by the strong-arm, unconstitutional tactics allowed and encouraged by the Bush administration all in the name of fighting terrorism, but not having much effect on terrorism at all.
For those who can't understand how Germany became as it did before and during WWII, watch this film for how insidious the process of losing civil rights in a democracy can be. Obviously the US today is NOT as bad as Nazi Germany, but there are disturbing parallels. You see how perfectly law-abiding citizens have their civil rights increasingly denied or whittled down and how this threatens the very fabric of our fantastic democracy.
I dare anyone to see this film and not come away concerned for the future of our republic if we do not change course soon.
good veiw.......2007-01-11
Well what can i say if you like seeing your rights vanish then see this dvd you know whos hitting you from in front and behind ....lol.
Unconstitutional - The War On Our Civil Liberties .......2006-08-25
Good movie. A must watch for anti-Bush crowd. Sad direction we're headed with this guy in the lead.
Unremarkable.......2006-06-28
Unconstitutional is a movie about an extremely important topic. It's even more topical now in 2006 than when it was produced in 2004 (with some interviews done earlier than that). Unfortunately I found it overall a less powerful message than Greenwald's previous films, Unprecedented, Uncovered, etc. I think it's unlikely to win over those who support the Bush Administration's actions on its own, but it will provide some valuable tidbits of information for those who are already concerned about the loss of our civil rights.
The main problem with the movie (to me) was that the first half of it illustrates its point with examples of a lot of people toward whom Americans who support the administration's "war on terror" simply are not going to feel very sympathetic: Moslem immigrants from the Middle East, Jose Padilla, etc. It's only the second half of the movie that starts to address how this threatens the liberties of everyday, homegrown, law-abiding American citizens. Of course the revelations of what this administration has done have only increased in scope since the movie was produced. This is a movie worth watching--but don't expect to be on the edge of your seat.

MORE ABOUT CNN THAN 9/11.......2007-09-02
I just finished watching this DVD from the library. I have been looking for one that shows minute by minute details of what happened that day. This DVD jumps around a lot, which makes it a bit confusing as to the flow of that whole day. A lot of pats on the back for CNN but not at all what I was looking for. It's not a bad account, just seemed to jump around way too much.
I also saw National Geographic's Inside 9/11. A 2 DVD set. One disc about the events leading up to 9/11 (not what I want) and one disc that gives minute by minute coverage of that day. (this is what I want). If I can find this 2 DVD set for the price of 1 DVD, I'll be happy. But the CNN DVD, I have no use for it.

There is enough information in this journalistic video to realize there are people raising their children to believe it is divine to kill themselves in order to destroy America.
Terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in 1993 and 2001. Eight years. It's only been five years since 9/11 ... are we prepared for another attack?
Katrina should be another big lesson-learned that America doesn't have the infrastructure to help everyone in a disaster. Terrorists know this, now.
What can you do to prepare and protect yourself & your family, today?
Watch this video with your family and friends. Talk about it. Ask questions of one another. Take action for readiness. Stay motivated!
wake me up when 9/11/01 ends.......2006-11-08
I love the cnn tells us about september 11 2001 and I felt sad when the world trade center fell but my brother told me they are going to rebuild the towers
Touching, But Thats All.......2006-08-07
To start of this is probably of the better 9-11 tribute DVD's. But, if that is all true, we need better ones. The first 45 minuites are very well done and deserves applause for it's stories and good information. But the rest is all just about are reaction to 9-11. This DVD is great, but if you wanted more information on the events of 9-11 you will fell hungry.
Let The Media Blind You From The Truth.......2006-05-25
I am on a mission. I am out to find un doctored video of what happen that day. In this edition of America Remembers is media hog wash. All of the impacts of the planes have been removed so that the victims and the american people are blinded by what really hit those towers.
Although they show 1 to 2 impacts of planes, this stripped down version of the real events hides the truth.
In this dvd no reports of the hundreds of eye witness accounts that reveal many explosions going on at the twin towers before and after the "planes" hit.
There is so much left out of the dvd that i decided to compare it to the first dvd.
The differences clearly show that a lot more needed to be edited before the public figures out, what really happened that day.
This dvd is a one sided slap in the face to victims and Americans in general.
Everyone that reads this should call or write cnn and tell them we want the original dvd. Not this government version of events of mass murder.
