In addition to boasting one of the most astonishing opening sequences in the history of extreme-sports filmmaking, Billabong Odyssey offers a breathtaking survey of big-wave surfing at a pivotal stage in its evolution. With the advent of Jet-Ski Waverunners used for "tow-in" access to gigantic waves that paddle-surfers could never reach, this three-year, globe-trotting quest for the world's biggest waves is nothing less than spectacular. As documentaries go it's a bit cruder than 2003's other surfing movie, Step Into Liquid, and many of the same world-class surfers appear in both films (including 49-year-old Ken Bradshaw, still going strong). But Billabong is unrivaled in its abundance of jaw-dropping footage--most of it shot from helicopters hovering in close proximity--showing the sheer, terrifying scale of breaking "tubes"--some reaching 100 feet--at the most challenging big-wave locations on the planet, including Maverick's at Santa Cruz, California; Cortes Bank off the Pacific Coast; "Cyclops" in Australia; Mundaka, Spain; and the treacherous "Jaws" reef on the coast of Maui, Hawaii.
While touching on various hot topics such as safety training, serious wipe-outs, swell-tracking technology, female surfers (like the great Layne Beachley), and hydrofoil surfboards (billed as "the future of the sport"), director Philip Boston applies a casual, competitive structure that's too diffuse and lightweight to have much impact. But when the film focuses on the climactic "Jaws" showdown between Carlos Burle and Mike Parsons, Billabong Odyssey achieves a state of raw power and spiritual intensity, culminating in Parsons' best-ever 10-point ride on a massive tube that constantly threatens to consume him. As dozens of adrenaline-junkie surfers strive for new horizons of unprecedented skill, Billabong Odyssey chronicles their efforts with amazing bird's-eye cinematography. For surfers and non-surfers alike, this movie must be seen to be believed. --Jeff Shannon

Wow.......2007-05-13
I definitely enjoyed this movie for the shear terror you feel every time you see these madmen screaming across the waves with thousands of pounds of liquid ready to crush them at a moments notice. I also loved it for the fact that it showed all of these big named surfers getting together and going to most of the big name waves and just doing some awesome surfing.
Billabong Odyssey .......2007-03-16
Its an amazing film with wonderful places and powerful waves
What a wave!!!.......2007-02-06
Has by far the sickest ride at Jaws that I have ever seen (Parsons). Overall a great movie, but wtf is Laird. You can't talk about big waves without talking about Laird.
Billabong Odyssey wowzer.......2007-01-25
Well photographed, and in depth with the world of big wave surfing. The locations are amazing, and it really shows how dificult riding those monsters is. Their training is intense and crazy. These guys make the wave!
Fantastic Footage of Monster Tube Ride at jaws.......2006-11-12
The opening sequence is the best photo coverage of any wave anywhere.
Product Description
East Coast Tribal bellydance blends sensual, fluid movement with sharp percussive accents evoking the flair of urban modernity. It resonates with exotic echoes of the world's ancient dances and bears a touch of the dark cyber-age mystique.
The East Coast Tribal Bellydance instructional and muscle-conditioning program is designed by Sera, an acclaimed performer of Tribal fusion bellydance, and sought-after instructor with a superb systematic and effective teaching method. Sera's primary form of creative expression is through Tribal styles of belly dance. Her movements are rooted in Tribal Fusion Bellydance, drawing from ballet, modern, jazz, hip-hop, and ATS (American Tribal Style) to make the blend she calls East Coast Tribal.
Sera's Warmup and Drills programs combine fluid movements and percussive hipwork of bellydance in a way that promotes muscle strength, tone and elongation - the basis for a beautiful body line and effortless grace, both in dance and in everyday life. These sections will take you though series of upper and lower body isolations, help you ingrain in your muscle memory the precision of bellydance technique, and develop muscle control that will convert into a mesmerizing fluid dance as you are learning the East Coast Tribal combinations.
The step-by-step instructional section breaks down essential bellydance movements and assembles them into 6 combinations. The combinations can be practiced and performed individually or as a whole. They come together into a seamless choreographed sequence with a wonderful flow of energy and an amazing expressivity.

Customer Reviews:
Good bellydance workout.......2007-09-12
This bellydance video offers a good, fun, workout. It is not a good instructional video for traditional bellydance moves. It would be a good companion to a traditional bellydance dvd.
Excellent teaching, and a versatile video........2007-08-01
I finally worked through this video after owning it for a while, and I was stunned at how excellent it is. There are a few flaws (which I'll get to later), but those aside, it's a superb video.
First things first. This is not a beginner's DVD. Sera neither gives the kind of explanations of basic movements a beginner would want, nor does she present all the basics of bellydance. No way. It is, however, a great DVD for intermediate dancers. Sera goes over some basic movements (especially in the warmup), but in such a way as to help you increase your flexibility and power.
The 20-minute warmup and the 10-minute drill section get you doing some basic stretches, focusing on your isolations, and quite importantly, working on powering moves from particular muscles. The dancers mirror your movements (so when she calls "left," they actually move to their right) which I prefer. Sera is extremely thorough about calling out which muscle to use for a move, and always managed to remind me as soon as I forgot. I *was* worried about the neck stretch, since she moves the head all the way back, and some moves also seemed quite hard on the knees, so I modified them. In the choreography Sera is careful to point out which sections are knee-unfriendly, and sometimes offers a modification, but this is not the case in the workout. She does, however, tell you when certain moves are difficult for beginners, so you don't get discouraged.
I would say that, considering how cheap the DVD is, the warmup is worth the price alone. I know I'm going to use this (with some extra stretching) as an introduction to other bellydance videos.
Next comes a demonstration of the combinations to be learned, and then very detailed instructions for each of six movement combinations. I had watched the video before, but only by doing it could I see what a brilliant teacher Sera is. She has that uncanny ability to know *just* when you're relaxing a certain muscle, or doing a movement lazily, or forgetting about your posture, and to give a perfectly-timed reminder.
On the other hand, the combos themselves are challenging and, to my eye, beautiful. It's not hard to get the basics of each, but to do them right, with the correct arm movements, good timing, and perfect form, is hard. This is a major strength of the DVD: you can grow into it a little. Both the warmup and the dance instruction are basically doable for an advanced beginner/intermediate, but they have enough layering and little details that you have a reason to go back and do the video again.
As you can probably tell by the length of this review, I am impressed! I do want to say though that it's not the right DVD for you if you just want to pop something in the player and shake your hips around. Some of the muscular movements can be quite strenuous. You need to pay attention to the instructions, you need to listen to your body to avoid injury, and you may even need to pause it and practice a movement slowly and carefully on your own. And you need to stretch thoroughly at the end. But this is what makes it so good.
You won't notice the time passing. This is elegant and fun........2007-07-04
I am writing this because I hope some of you reading it will recognize yourself: I have either studied, taught or competed in about five different sports or disciplines. (Ballet, competitive swimming, Pilates, yoga, White Crane kung fu, and Cha Yon Ru.) My biggest problem with exercise is finding workouts that don't bore me, but that won't aggravate old injuries.
I had avoided bellydance, because it is one of those things my hippie mother did. (Sorry Mom.)
I did this for the first time today, and I thought maybe fifteen minutes had gone by--nope, I had done the whole tape. Wow. I can't remember the last time that happened. And, nothing hurts in a bad way. I think this is my new obsession. Wow.
it was fun.......2007-07-03
I have a few bellydance DVDs at home. I have to admit that this is on of my favorites. Even though I think the warm-up is too long (20 minutes), I have to admit that it is effective. If you don't even have time to do the whole video, the warm-up would be enough for you. There was a 10-minute segment on hip work, which is also pretty good. I think it would have been better if they included more moves than just hip slides, hip locks, and shimmies. There is a demonstration of the routine which is about 5 minutes long (the routine is only about 2 1/2 minutes, but they repeat it automatically), which I love. Afterwards, the routine is broken up into 6 combinations and Sera teaches you how to do them. What I like the most is that the instructor is actually talking instead of using a voice-over.
Too Gothic.......2007-06-08
This is not what I would consider an authentic belly dance DVD. It tends to be too Gothic and there is not enough instruction to even consider this DVD for a beginner.

Fade to Black is a document of Jay-Z's self-proclaimed final concert; a grand affair that took place before a sold-out crowd at New York's Madison Square Garden in November 2003. (But anyone who follows celebrity news knows that Jay-Z was out of retirement and back performing at the Garden just a year later.) Fade to Black is a legitimately powerful record of a truly historic event in the annals of rap. Muttering offhand narration with typical bored, streetwise affect, Jay hails the concert as a momentous occasion for being the first time a hip-hop show was allowed to headline at the Garden.
It's unlikely that the full impact of the live performances will hit home to viewers unfamiliar with Jay-Z and his Roc-A-Fella Records stable of artists. Another frustration is trying to identify the array of visitors who trade raps on Jay's stage. Included in the star-studded lineup are Missy Elliott, Foxy Brown, Pharell, Ghostface Killah, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, and R. Kelly. One unmistakable figure--and we do mean figure--is Jay's squeeze Beyonce, who raises the temperature and the roof with her skimpy outfit, flowing hair, soulful yowl, and sexed-up dance routine that leaves her boyfriend and the whole of Madison Square Garden slack-jawed with animal desire.
Twenty cameras captured the event, and some of the most powerful sequences are sweeping moves across the swirling, blissed-out masses as they lip sync along in perfect unison with Jay-Z's complex, profane, quick-witted raps. Less effective are intermittent cutaway segments that show the artist in various studio settings working up beats and rhymes. These amateurish home video breaks may give some insight to Jay's perfectionism and dedication to his craft, but they detract from the visceral power of the beautifully executed performance footage. --Ted Fry
Description
FADE TO BLACK takes a look at the rapper's career, providing a backstage glimpse during the concert and showing how his last album was conceived. Narrated by Jay-Z himself, the film features notable guest performances by Beyonce, Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige, R. Kelly, Pharrell Williams, Foxy Brown and appearances by P. Diddy and 2004 Grammy-winner Kanye West.
Customer Reviews:
exceptional in every way.......2007-08-25
I'm quite convinced that this is the most watched DVD I've ever owned, I must have seen it 30 times. Jay-Z's madison gig must've been one of the greatest nights in entertainment history, and for a fan unable to be there that night, this is the next best thing. the event was captured in an outstanding way, just watching this makes me bop my head, jump around the room and sends mad chills down my back. One of the greatest concerts ever performed and THE best live capturing.
My Inspiration.......2007-06-05
This film shows Sean Carter is the most positive light. I see a man with a strong work ethic and so much drive. He's hungry for success and he never settles for anything. He always aims higher. I think I enjoyed the studio footage more than the actually concert footage. Much love goes out to Jay Z and his production crew!
An Authentic Peek.......2007-05-29
I recently began seeking out hip-hop documentaries after watching Jin's No Sleep Till Shanghai. I was pretty skeptical though as to how much a superstar like Jay-Z would be willing to show. It's actually a much more insightful doc than I expected, in terms of understanding the music process. I was surprised how much, and sometimes how little, effort goes into making an album, especially for an artist of Jay's stature. Of course, Fade to Black can also be enjoyed simply for its concert footage, which makes this an excellent film overall.
It is what it is...........2007-05-14
What more can I say?... It's Hova baby.... The concert footage is hot... The studio footage showing the many producers he worked with in creating the Black Album was hotter... Only one reason for falling short of five stars... It wasn't long enough...
"The Last Waltz" of Hip-Hop.......2007-01-08
Jay is one of the few hip-hop artists who can not only fill the seats at the Garden, but play to an audience that large as well. There are tons of guest appearances here and they are universally strong. Even potentially mismatched performances such as Beyonce's appearance work extremely well. The behind the scenes footage of Jay in the studio is riveting. He has a soft, almost hoarse speaking voice yet a powerful voice on the microphone. Like his contemporary Biggie Smalls, he listens to beats with a frighteningly focused intensity and then writes and records all from memory. Some scenes, like when Jay visits Rick Rubin and spits an entirely new verse to the Public Enemy classic "Welcome To The Terrordome" are alone worth the price of admission.
The picture quality of this DVD transfer is decent, though not stunning. Saturation is pushed a little high and the transfer can appear a bit soft at times. The audio track is a well executed surround mix that really captures the acoustics of the Garden. Audio and video sync appears to be quite good.
This is one of the great hip-hop DVDs. Highly recommended.
Product Description
Beginners Volume 1 offers the easiest and most thorough instruction for anyone wanting to learn both Single-Time Swing and East Coast Swing, the two most popular versions of Swing dancing. Each volume is professional, easy to follow, designed for beginners and fun for everyone. With nearly 1½ hours of instruction and multiple camera views, Shawn and Joanna Trautman will build your confidence and have you dancing along with them - literally. The design of the curriculum and camera placement for the DVDs allows leaders to do the EXACT movements that Shawn presents, and it allows followers to mimic Joanna in real time without having to turn away from the screen. In addition, youll also get to dance each dance with music alongside the instructors at the end of each section.
This beginner DVD covers everything from the history of Swing, how to do Slow Steps, Rock Steps, and Triple Steps, what the footwork is for both leaders and followers, how to properly use the four connection points specifically for Swing, and how to go from one dance position to another to another, seamlessly. Youll also learn lead and follow elements to each move, what adding lilt to your body means, how to do left turns, right turns, underarm turns, and much more.
With nearly two decades of experience, a number of World Champion students to their credit, and their recently published book Picture Yourself Dancing, Shawn and Joanna have perfected the basic elements of each dance while specializing in the leading and following aspects which are extremely hard to find. Shawn and Joanna will demonstrate, explain, and teach you to lead and follow the Swing so you can dance anywhere with anyone, rather than just learning a single step that can only be done with your partner. Once youre comfortable with this DVD, youll want to look into Beginner Volume 2 as it seamlessly adds on to everything you learned here to rapidly gain confidence based on consistency and repetition.
Customer Reviews:
Terrible!.......2007-09-14
Very disapointed in this prduct. Bought it because I wanted to learn to dance, and it was rated so high by others. Let me say that the technical production of this DVD is the worst. The sound fades out so much that it makes it impossible to here anything. Both Amazon and the Trautman's should feel guilty selling such a poor produced product.
The dance instructions by the Trautman's is like being in a 100 yard dash, they go very fast, not really giving the novice with no dance experience any oppurtunity to learn the many steps that they present. My fiance and I have plans to take dance lessons and do give up on this poorly DVD on swing dance. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!
Comprehensive, user friendly and fun!.......2007-06-03
Other than dancing with my son at his wedding, I am a dancing "newbie"--so green that I was reluctant to go to a dance class! I have wanted to learn to dance for many years but never had a partner so I decided to take matters into my own hands and begin with DVD instruction. I made several unsuccessful phone calls with various suppliers until I happened upon Shawn Trautman's order department. An operator helped me personally select the first two DVD's to suit my needs and then long-story-short, I have purchased 12 DVD's to date. I received a personal email follow-up making sure that I had received the DVD's and that I was satisfied.
Shawn Trautman's teaching style is comprehensive and clear allowing for plenty of practice time within the lesson. The DVD format has all chapters clearly labeled allowing for precise access to a desired spot in the lesson. He and his wife, Joanna, give the lessons with plenty of tips for men on how to lead effectively and for the women, how to follow responsively...also provided are the much-needed tips on how to look stylish and confident as you take your first steps on the dance floor. It's great for us who fit into the "fake it 'til you make it" category!
I was cautioned by dancing friends to make sure the instruction I received was accurate as to avoid learning faulty technique. I have learned enough at home to Swing dance with several different partners and I have been complimented on my technique when I confess that I am a beginner. Thanks for the great product!
Great intro to Swing Dancing.......2007-05-20
This was a great intro to Swing Dancing in a way I've never seen taught before. The attention to detail on all facets of leading and following including the demonstration with the hula hoop was impressive. The instructors are very relaxed and easy to follow on the floor. The parts on connection points and on going from single swing to triple (east coast) swing were very helpful. If you want to learn how to Swing dance, go with this video.
Outstanding Starting Point for Swing Dancing.......2007-04-12
Shawn and Joanna Trautman's three DVD series on Swing Dancing is an excellent way to learn Swing Dance basics. For example, both lead and follow basics are explained so that both the lead and the follow know exactly what to expect on every move. The lead's role is explained, the follow's role is explained, the individual move is explained, and then the move is done to music.
Also, at the end of the DVD, there is a summary of what was taught in the indidvidual DVD. I found that this really reinforced learning.
Furthermore, the difference between single step swing and triple step swing are explained. Plus, I thought the explaination of how to lead left turns and right turns proved helpful to me. It was explained in a way that I could grasp it.
I also thought that there customer service is excellent and that they were very respectful.
These DVD's are reccomended highly.
Great Teaching.......2006-12-31
I am 50 years old and have NEVER danced, but got this DVD to be able to take my wife dancing. Within 5 practice sessions we had most of the basic steps and turns down. Shawn does a great job of whole-part-whole teaching; using very appropriate and comfortable progressions. It is not flash and dash it is just great, easy to follow teaching. Shawn and Joanna come across as completely professional, but never rigid. A great beginning dance video.

What would Late Night be like if David Letterman was replaced by a superhero? That's the question posited by the Cartoon Network's original series Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and the answer is: truly odd and frequently hilarious. The series took '60s-era animated crime fighter Space Ghost and reinvented him as the slightly addled host of a celebrity gabfest. SG's awkward chats with guests like David Byrne, Hulk Hogan, and the Ramones were frequently interrupted by his old foes Zorak (now the show's bandleader) and Moltar (director). Deliberately stilted and proudly absurd, the program was a strange but often dead-on parody of hollow celebrity worship, and garnered a loyal cult following. However, those diehard fans may be disappointed by this two-disc set, which features only 16 of the 22 episodes from the first three seasons (a clip from one missing episode, "A Space Ghost Christmas," is included in the supplemental features). Also somewhat of a letdown is the commentary from the show's creative team, which is amusing but rarely informative. --Paul Gaita

it smells like cartoon planet(oioie!).......2007-07-15
the cartoon network shows these in sporatic order, the Fran Dresher"Girlie Show' and the one that you think is a follow up-though that's funny in it's self huh, "my girlfreind" miss nesbit you think he means "Fran" Dresher! but he just got blown off cause she's married! Not hooked up! Nesbit(anagrahm of Miss Tessmocker or something) is an actual EX girlie friend! I just watched a tape I recorded in '96(or something) at the odd after hours of spacey craziness. this is the whimsical "Spaced" ghost based on the old 1960's cartoon show by H/B! I have never seen anything funnier than Lowe's Space Ghost persona and the rediculously bad guests retorts.(Carrot Top's funny because his cut-downs are so darn weak!) I wish live action "real" TV was this funny! Makes one think a moment why it's dead and cartoons are now the thang! I turned off "Saturday Night Dead" and watched my old VHS now I want it on DVD!-ALL OF IT!(flexes rubber-sounding muscles and makes odd disconjointed pointing gesture at Robin Leach on veiwing monitor). "Now you listen to ME, buddy boy!"
This isn't a talk show, it's a freak show!.......2006-12-30
What if the Tonight Show were hosted by a washed-up superhero?
That's the quirky idea behind "Space Ghost: Coast to Coast," which unforgivingly lampoons talk shows and empty celeb worship, with the pompous superhero Space Ghost and his ex-nemeses in the spotlight. It takes a few episodes for the idea to really start working, but then it's absolutely hilarious.
Middle-aged Space Ghost lives on the Ghost Planet, where he guards lava-man Moltar and sadistic mantis (or locust) Zorak. And he has a talk show, which he tries to keep relatively calm, but which is frequently disrupted by Zorak's evil ramblings, Brak's demands for attention, and Moltar getting bored and flipping channels.
All his guests are non-animated real-people: Michael Stipe, Terry Jones, Fran Drescher, Lassie, three stars from "Batman," the Ramones, Weird Al Yankovic, David Byrne, Matthew Sweet, Slash, Alice Cooper, Donny Osmond, and a ten-second cameo by Ashley Judd at the end of the first episode (which is arguably the best thing about it).
Along the way, chaos is spread on the set as Space Ghost deals with a giant sea-monkey running amuck, tries to keep Zorak from conquering Rome, tries to convince Adam West to turn into Batman, must rescue Moltar from the evil YOUR MOTHER, falls in love with Fran Drescher, tries to do a monologue, and tries to order a pizza. All while interviewing his celebrity guests: "How many clouds does Earth have?"
"Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" starts rather weakly; the first few episodes are straightforward parodies with no surreal twists. Then the makers got into their niche, and began sprinkling the short program with surreal subplots like Zorak using a spell to make Space Ghost ask stupid questions on the air ("Would you like to see me eat a live mollusk?"). Not to mention utterly random stuff ("The Tingler is loose in the theater!").
At that point, the short episodes become thoroughly entertaining, with the flat Hanna Barbera animation in stark contrast to the live guests, who are a mixed bag. Some (Michael Stipe, David Byrne and especially Slash) seem very uncomfortable, but since the interviews are meant to be awkward, it's not a big deal.
Others (Weird Al, Eartha Kitt, Matthew Sweet, Carol Channing) seem to be enjoying themselves, and even join in on the insanity ("Citizen Joe, we're thrilled to have you on!" "Pleasure!" "Planet." "Gooey." "Deer Tick." "Who knows?").
Space Ghost himself is pretty funny -- pompous, vain about his GI-Joe body, a bit of a snob (he spends half an episode abusing Palmer Mills), and somewhat insane("I am a talk show host. I can say lots of things: Tuna fish, parentheses, coochie-coochie girl Charo. Zingnut ranch!"). Zorak is... well, Zorak. He's evil, malicious, and quite funny.
"Space Ghost: Coast to Coast" may never win a LuLu, but it was a hysterically funny show that only lagged toward the beginning. Definitely worth watching.
Great stuff..........2006-10-30
What a concept! A stupid, egomanic cartoon superhero talk show host who mistreats his famous real life guests. Top notch.

Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast seems to be an acquired taste, with a silly and dry wit that I find quite palatable. Its theme is a very bad talk show, which Space Ghost (real name Tad Ghostal) hosts, along with his old enemies Zorak, Brak, and Moltar.
Back in 1966, Space Ghost was a real cartoon (that I used to watch) that aired for 2 years, only 42 episodes. It was cheesy back then, and SGCTC takes cheese to a whole new level. The guests are real, appearing on a TV screen for their interviews. If you like oddball humor like Mystery Science Theater 3000 then you will love Space Ghost Coast To Coast. And speaking of MST3K, Joel Hodgson appears in the first episode here in Season Two. Here is a quick line up of the episodes:
DISC ONE:
1) $20.01 - Guests are Penn & Teller and Joel Hodgson (from Mystery Science Theater 3000!!). SG replaces Zorak and Moltar with the MOE 3000 Sidekick Computer System to replace Zorak and Moltar. The interview with Joel Hodgson is priceless.
2) Lovesick - Guests are comedian Carrot Top and Star Lady. I can't stand Carrot Top but he held his own against SG. Star Lady is a cow. I mean, a real cow.
3) Transcript - Guest is singer-songwriter Jonathon Richman. He sounds like he's been doing nose drugs for a while. This guest was so bad my hinder hurt.
4) Sharrock - Guest is Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth performing as Fred Cracklin. Very boring episode. Dedicated to Sonny Sharrock.
5) Boo - Guests are Michael Norman and Bill Nye The Science Guy. Norman is a ghostwriter, and gives a great interview. The interview with Bill Nye was way too short.
6) Freak Show - Guest is Bill Manspeaker from Green Jelly, at least that's what the DVD says. There's Wylie who does really bad yodeling, and Commander Andy Of The Cosmos, a guy in a red one-piece pajama. The episode is probably the worst they've done.
7) Switcheroo - Guests are Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady) and Major "B" horror Goddess Elvira. Tad Ghostal's evil twin Chad Ghostal,
8) Surprise - Lots of stars listed on this episode, including Bobcat Goldthwait, Judy Tenuta, Cameron Diaz, and more, but they make only visual appearances before Zorak blasts them. The crew is getting ready for Space Ghost's 30th birthday.
9) Glen Campbell - Guest is Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons and Futurama). Good interview with Groening, just remember this was before Groening did Futurama. Moltar leaves the show.
-- Extras on Disc One are the real, live interview with Matt Groening. Great insight into how and why the guests answer the questions the way they do, and also great Groening stuff. Second is the Thurston Moore performance, just guitar playing.
DISC TWO:
1) Jacksonville - Guests are James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica. Tansit messes up the feed so Space Ghost has to find Moltar, who's headed to Jacksonville. Zorak, Brak, and Lokar tell Space Ghost they are pregnant. Metallica's Kirk and James are awesome.
2) Late Show - Guests are Janeane Garofalo, Dave Grohl from The Foo Fighters, Flip Orley the Hypnotist, and hamonicist John Popper. Everyone gets jazzed. SG plays a short called "Fun With Moltar". Great lines: SG, "Zorak can lick my center of gravity!" Zorak, "Not even with Moltar's tongue!"
3) Cookout - Guests are chefs Emeril Lagasse, Nathalie Dupree, and Martin Yan. The cook-off is judged by the Council Of Doom, made up of Lokar, Metallus, Black Widow, Tansit, and Brak. Emeril and Yan actually cook dishes for the show! Yan is hilarious, he threatens to cook Space Ghost and "relaxes a chicken". SG to Yan, "You killed the chicken!" Yan, "No, I didn't. I just dissected." Zorak demands bones.
4) Art Show - Guests are performance artist Laurie Anderson and percussion group Stomp. Pretty boring episode.
5) Woody Allen's Fall Project - No guests, but a live action episode. Features highlights performed by the Ghost Planet Dinner Theater Ensemble. Skip this, its pretty boring. Stupid-Bad, not Stupid-Funny.
-- Extras on this disc are 'Andy's Pilot' (a partial episode unable to air because the guest's rights were too expensive), '1993 Pencil Test' (nothing but pencil raw sketches in pencil), and 'Sharrock Bonus' (a one-page tribute to Sonny Sharrock).
It seems that with Season Two, the guests are a little more relaxed and cooperative in their interviews. Space Ghost is in top form with such remarks as, "I'll spank you smartly with my spank ray ... whoops, sorry, that was my smell ray." And, "We'll caper about in our little grass pinafores to delicious calypso melodies."
All in all, if you love zany comedy, SGCTC is hilarious way to pass away some time, and will certainly lift your mood with its sharp but silly wit. Enjoy!
If you're down with it, it's awesome.......2005-09-15
This is one of those love it or leave it shows. People I talk with either think it's brilliant or stupid. I like to think it is brilliantly stupid. This must be the longest running animated talk show in history. Granted it may well be the only one, but that counts. I love the irreverent humor. Thus my love for CN's other creations. This set is great to have because there were some early episodes I've missed and it's nice to see them. On the bad side, considering the short season and relatively small amount of content, they should do these two seasons per box at least. I guess Ted's gotta earn his bucks though. I've you love this show, you can't go wrong with this set. If you're flying blind, see the show before you dump the cash on something you might find stupid.
Are You Getting Enough Oxygen?.......2005-06-27
I have liked "Space Ghost Coast To Coast" since it first aired. This compilation is strong (although perhaps not as strong as volume one) with outstanding episodes; my favorite of which features Carrot Top, who by himself I can barely look at, but here he gets mocked by a cartoon ghost, which for some reason synergistically yields comedy gold. The interplay with Zorak, Moltar, and Brak is excellent on this set as well. Guest shots by Brak are always welcome, and Zorak never looked crispier than after a few blows from the Ghost's powerbands.
This set has several entertaining extras, and offers a lot of comedy for the money. Without question, the critics who pan the show for being cheaply made are correct, but the wry wit and innuendo that can be found in many of the interviews makes for great late night entertainment. I highly recommend this DVD set and the show, as well.
Its not a Question of Getting or Not Getting it..........2005-03-19
The Question is: is it worth bothering to get at all. Let me tell you... get it because "I got the tapes boy oh boy". They are good dry and stupid off-beat humor that delivers laughs time and time again. Better than anything currently on Adult Swim, Space Ghost Coast to Coast was one of the funniest shows of the 1990's and this collection includes some of the funniest episodes.
With interviews with Carrot Top and Emeril Lagasse among manhy others, off beat skits and an occasional appearance by Brak this DVD set's got something for everyone looking for some good off0beat humor.
I waited for it to get funny, but it never got funny........2005-03-15
I like Space Ghost. I liked the first D.V.D. This second D.V.D. was a supreme waste of my money. I should sell it but I am a person who will most likely get the whole set anyway. I am hopeing the third one is better. Of course it could not be worse than this second D.V.D. I must remember that just because something is put on a D.V.D., that does not mean it is worth purchasing.

Essential Line Dances.......2007-05-05
Great DVD. Shawn's DVD make learning to line dance easy and fun. His methods of instruction get an A+ from this teacher.
A lot of fun!.......2006-12-17
I have several of the Shawn Trautman collection - they are all very professionally done. I think this is my favorite so far!
Great Dances!.......2006-12-14
So you know a few line dance steps and you want to get out on the dance floor. Essential Line Dances (Vol 1) is for you!
Shawn Trautman introduces the beginner/intermediate dancer to several popular line dances in this volume. If you already know the basics of line dancing it will be easy for you to follow along the first time through as Shawn breaks the dances down step by step.
Even if you haven't danced before, each step is explained in detail and can be learned after a couple viewings (and with practice, of course!)
In addition to teaching the basic steps, Shawn offers alternative steps depending on your dancing level. There's something for everyone!
Great for learning.......2006-11-06
Just like Line Dance 101, this DVD was very well received. My wife and I both loved it. It was a little faster paced than 101, but we felt prepared and could keep up. The dances are fun and presented very well. We like the way Shawn breaks down the dances and then has you learn with him. We liked Essential Line Dances Volume 2 for the same reasons.
It's Great Exercise!.......2006-06-28
I've been looking for a way, other than the treadmill, to get some exercise indoors and I remembered what fun and what great exercise line dancing was. A long time ago I used to go to a country line dancing bar and I had so much fun there. I searched the internet for a Learn to Line Dance DVD and decided to get this one because I knew if I liked it, there were more in the series.
I've gone through the DVD two times now and I feel like I can do the dances to "real" music already. The dances are broken down in a way that make them very easy to learn. You can also get a play list of suggested music on Shawn Trautman's website to practice the dances with.
I do have to admit, I feel a little ridiculous line dancing all by myself in the living room. But who cares, right? Now that I have the play list I'll just turn the music up loud enough so that I won't hear the neighbors laughing at me when they drive by and see me through the windows.

Great stuff.......2007-04-03
This set is worth it for the Telethon Episode alone. I can't think of any other show of any series that made me laugh that hard. I just wish they'd release some more volmes of Space Ghost.
Mostly good.......2007-04-02
The discs play well and have an easy to navigate menu. The packaging has an index as well which is helpful in remembering which episodes are on which disc (it's a two disc set). The image and sound qualities are good.
Most of the episodes have some very funny moments, and some episodes are great. One or two are duds that seemed to have been slapped together at the last moment.
The few bonus features they have included aren't very entertaining. The commentaries aren't funny or informative and aren't really worth a listen. The producers come off sounding conceited and taking the show's popularity for granted.
Overall, I would say the set is a good value because there are some really classic episodes, such as the musical one and the one of Zorak's life.
Good Entertainment.......2006-03-10
The overall quality of this DVD set is equal to or better than Volumes One and Two. Unfortunately there are less bonus features than there are in Volume Two. All the episodes do not disappoint as they are either satisfactory or excellent. My favorite is the one with Peter Fonda because, for me, the weirder the better.
You're bringing me down, man!!!.......2005-09-17
Why are all the SG DVDs in mono while the adult swim episodes feature swell surround?
If you're a fan, it's a must-have.......2005-09-05
This show is bizarre. For the most part, you either like it, or you don't. If you do like it, you have to buy this dvd set. You _have_ to. It's fantastic.

Great for Beginners!!.......2007-03-19
This is the second DVD I have bought from the Trautman's series. My fience' and I are preparing for our wedding and will be able to use several of these steps during the night. I can't believe we are having fun learning together instead of being frustrated with each other. Shawn breaks the steps down in such a way that we picked most of it up easily. (we're still practicing) Worth it.
Can get you where you want to go.......2007-01-25
I've been teaching couples dancing (rumba, cha, foxtrot, waltz, etc.) since 1993 and have designed a few dance DVDs. I got this DVD because I have no expertise in these particular dances. And I'm glad that I bought it.
Some people learn primarily by seeing a lot, others by hearing a lot, and still others by doing a lot. Most people learn best by getting some of each. Shawn Trautman overtalks the instruction? Not at all. DVDs that attempt to present a lot of information in a relatively short amount of time, as this one does, are condensed learning presentations. So, the necessary and helpful repetition of information may seem too much to people such as Mr. Davis. But if Shawn cut his verbal instruction way back, then people who learn primarily from hearing would be shortchanged. It is better to offer the maximum of which the DVD is capable, and let the viewer focus on what works for him/her.
Mr. Davis makes a value judgment when he says that he thinks that Shawn is "...trying to impress us..." I get the exact opposite impression. Shawn's presentation is very relaxed, even casual... as though he is a knowledgeable friend whom you invited into your house to teach you some dance basics. Friends don't try to impress; they try to help.
Would the DVD look different had I designed it? Sure, but it would be similar in more ways than it would be different. That's a matter of two teachers who have somewhat different approaches. There is no single correct method to teach dancing. Shawn's is certainly a valid technique.
The bottom line is: this DVD is a good introduction to the dances that are presented. People who buy it can expect to be successful in learning what is covered.
Worst dance tape I own!.......2007-01-19
This is by far the worst dance CD Ive seen and I own several. Trautman overtalks everything and makes all the moves much more difficult than they really are. Im a teacher myself with a degree in physical education and computers and have taken and taught many classes on teaching physical activities. This tape is very frustrating to watch and learn from. The only way you can get anything out of it is to watch it with the sound off so you dont have to hear the nonstop over complicated talk! I think hes trying to impress us with his chatter rather than teach dance. I have other tapes with the same moves and it takes 1/10 the time to learn the moves from them with no frustration and its actually fun! Gary in Texas.
Country Dancing Pros!.......2007-01-11
Living near an area where country music is king, I always wanted to know what the big fuss was about with country dancing, especially couples dancing. When I went out to a country western club, the couples line dances were AMAZING, but when I tried to catch on in the club, it just wasn't working. I searched all over to find DVDs like this one, and really there aren't many. When I found this one (I've bought from Shawn's series before) I was thrilled because I knew that he was a great instructor and already taught me quite a bit. After practicing for awhile, I went out to the same club and fit in really well! I even got a few compliments from my dance partners saying how fabulous I looked on the dance floor! If you want to dance the night away in the country club, this DVD is for you!
PERFECT GIFT FOR MY AUNT & UNCLE.......2006-11-27
My aunt and uncle are in their late 60's and took up line dancing at the community center about a year ago. Now they attend 3 times a week and sometimes help teach the classes.
As a gift, I decided to buy them a copy of this DVD and they absolutely love it. They haven't heard of amazon.com before and are now asking me where they can get more dances. Fortunately, I was able to search and find more DVDs from the same instructors.
I couldn't believe it as they were using just the step sheets to try to learn the dances. Since they had past experience dancing other dances, they were able to easily pick up the lessons in this DVD after just a couple times through. Now they're even shopping at the local western store for shirts, hats, etc. and have been going to the Country Western night clubs once a week in addition to the community center.
Many thanks to Shawn and Joanna for creating theses DVDs and helping me give the perfect Xmas gift to someone I had no clue what to get!

The title says it all: Tupac Shakur was as much angel as outlaw. Unlike some of the other profiles made in the wake of his passing, Thug Angel doesn't focus only on the first few days of his career or the last few days before his death, but on his entire life. That makes it valuable as much for the fan as for the merely curious. The production was backed by friends and associates and includes never-before-seen material. It's surprisingly evenhanded, juxtaposing footage of Tupac at 17, for example--sounding mature beyond his years--with an interview conducted years later on a shooting range. Passion was still in full effect, but idealism had been replaced by paranoia. Peter Spirer's film is a documentary, not a music video, and contains only snippets of Tupac's work. At its best, Thug Angel makes a compelling case for his continued relevance as an artist and activist. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
Description
In the $3 billion industry of hip-hop music, no one has touched as many lives with a microphone as Tupac Shakur. In this never-before-seen footage, see Tupac at seventeen, a young man at the edge of his destiny, speaking out about injustice on the streets of Oakland. See him at the brink of his stardom, kickin' freestyles with Treach, Biggie and Grand Puba. See him at the shooting range, at home, at the highs and lows of his career, as a man constantly plagued by and provoking the media. See Tupac as never seen before, as the people closest to him knew him. See him as Thug Angel. Directed by Academy Award nominee Peter Spirer (Rhyme and Reason), Thug Angel takes you beyond the drama of Tupac's notoriety in the press through all-new interviews with friends, collaborators and scholars as they look back on Tupac and define his legacy today. 92 minutes.

"This ain't no democracy.".......2004-12-19
The documentary "Tupac Shakur: Thug Angel" takes a deconstructionist approach to analyzing the Rap superstar. Was Tupac a thug whose life ended in an uncanny replication of his lyrics, or was Tupac Shakur, a revolutionary with anarchistic beliefs? With these two diametrically opposed images, the filmmaker deconstructs Tupac's life while exploring both possibilities. As a result, this thought-provoking documentary offers a great deal of insight into a life that so often hit the front page.
Tupac, named after a Bolivian revolutionary, was born into a troubled family--his mother was a Black Panther, and other relatives served jail time. One relative even received political asylum from Cuba. By the time Tupac was a teenager, he was no stranger to poverty, and frequent moves across country finally left him living in Marin County. The film includes an interview with a 17-year old Tupac, and it's clear from the statements he makes that he's intelligent, idealistic, respectful towards women and very socially conscious. It is difficult to align these early statements of Tupac with some of the film's later interviews. Within a few years, now famous, Tupac's world view is much harder. There's one scene of him toting a weapon in a shooting range, and one senses he is preparing for the big showdown he is sure is in his future. It is at this point that Tupac makes several anarchistic statements: "The police ain't nothing but a gang. The National Guard ain't nothing but a gang. The army ain't nothing but a gang." But it's also quite clear from the documentary's investigation of Tupac's past why he felt this way. Tupac noted that even Dan Quayle took the time at the Republican Convention to lob a verbal attack against the rapper, and as his acquaintances realised, Tupac interpreted this attention to be devastatingly significant.
The documentary includes many interviews with those who knew Tupac best--relatives, former manager Leila Steinberg, Quincy Jones, and fellow rappers. The film touches on Tupac's Death Row Records contract, and the feud with Biggie. He is described by those who loved him as "the hardest working man in hip hop." "Tupac Shakur: Thug Angel" is a fascinating account of the rapper's brief and brilliant life, and as an attempt to unravel the mystery of Tupac's two sides, I think the film succeeds quite well. The DVD also contains a booklet that highlights key points in Tupac's personal life and his career--displacedhuman
2Pac the Prophet, The Father, and the Spirit of Hip-Hop.......2004-12-05
As to say this, I can't get my eyes on Tupac. 'Cuz he had a lot going on in his life, you know what I'm mean. You see Tupac will be telling a lot of stories of his past when he begin writing poetry at a early age, learn to act, and how to be a superstar in the rap business. Yeah Tupac been gone for 7 or 8 years now, but in 10 years he'll be remember 'cuz he modered a generation for the hip-hop community. I also a lot of people from that culture to Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, JFK, RFK, and on and on.
Now a lot of people are still talking about him and how he became a part of our culture. That's why he lived his life the way he live b/c of the fight with Biggie, the East Coast/West Coast rap war, how he got arrested, been in jail all of his life, need I say more?
Nobody even care on how he lived or how he died. He help changed that by putting it into his lyrics. The reason why I love him the most is there's nobody like him like Jada Pinkett Smith "There's nobody, nobody like that man. I don't care how many records you sell. I don't care how popular you are..."
You know Tupac lives on and he'll always will be to the fullest.
For those of ya'll are missing out a lot of good information about this icon, I urge you to check him out. He's one of the greats that put it on since Martin Luther King and Malcolm X we learned back in the day.
