Michael Crichton's bestselling novel was both a high-tech thriller and source of controversy with its hot-button plot about a man's charge of sexual harassment against a female colleague and former lover. The movie, directed by Barry Levinson, turned these issues into a prurient thriller gussied up in glossy production values, virtual reality computer graphics, and steamy sex between Michael Douglas and Demi Moore. Having cornered the market on roles for men whose brains are located south of their waistline, Douglas is well cast as the computer-industry guy who loses a plush promotion to the opportunistic Moore, and he's perfected the expression of paranoid panic. If you don't think about it too much, this is one of those films that can draw you into its manipulative web and really grab your attention. Disclosure is more entertaining than thought provoking (because the filmmakers basically danced around the story's potential controversy), but there's enough star power and visual glitz to make this an enjoyable ride. --Jeff Shannon
Customer Reviews:
A must-see thriller!.......2007-04-18
Here's one of those must-see thrillers starring Michael Douglas who is a computer operator sued for sexual harrassment by a former girlfriend(Demi Moore). This is one thriller that Douglas was born to star in. His other great thrillers include FATAL ATTRACTION,FALLING DOWN,BASIC INSTINCT and A PERFECT MURDER. Moore also delighted fans in GHOST,INDECENT PROPOSAL,NOTHING BUT TROUBLE,NO SMALL AFFAIR and THE SEVENTH SIGN.
Excellent R-rated movie.......2006-12-21
Very entertaining movie, built around a powerful female who clashes with a family man in a hi-tech workplace.
HIS revenge tops HER revenge, but it's a near thing..........2006-10-29
Demi, hot as a pistol, gets promoted over Michael, whom she used to sleep with before he got married. She wants him back in her body, and becomes demanding about it. He spurns her after a brief slip into immorality, and then she sets out to get him fired. The rest of the movie tangles up corporate cowardice with executive power plays. Michael has a mystery helper who communicates only by e-mail, and eventually he figures out a way to nail Demi but good (not a sexual nailing!) In the end, his career survives but he gets a big disappointment, and Demi's career seems trashed, although we and she know that she will soon sleep her way to the top in some other tech company. The computer and phone technology shown in this 15-year-old suspense tale is laughable now, which is amazing. When I see a movie made in the 1940's, for instance, the old-fashioned cars and telephones really do not bother me at all, but you'll be surprised at how absurd the computers and phones seem in this film now.
Disclosure: A Good Suspenseful Thriller.......2006-10-18
Disclosure tells the story of Tom Sanders who gets sexually harassed by his new boss, Meredith Johnson, his former lover. Now the thing about Disclosure that will keep you watching is not just the tension between those two characters. You will know who from the two is right, you will know who is wrong, but it are the people around them who are making it difficult: they don't know who did it which leads to nice thrilling situations.
The casting of Disclosure is perfectly alright: Michael Douglas is perfectly cast as Tom Sanders and acts very good and believable. He shows us how a man in his situation feels very clearly and does that well-acted.
Demi Moore is maqnificent as the bad guy, or I mean Bad girl in this motion picture. She acts on a certain way that will make you know how dangerous the woman is she is playing, which is superb.
Even though Disclosure is not a Thriller with gunshooting, running and high speed pursuits, it fits perfectly allright next to those kind of Thrillers. Disclosure is at first a kind of sexual thriller with a highly erotic scene, but then goes to the level where it gets labeld a kind of office/court thriller. But don't worry, for the biggest part the film may take place in an office: it will put you at the end of your seat at some suspencefull moments.
It is greatly shot, professionally made, well-directed and has performances that are perfectly alright. The story is written by and based on the novel by Michael Crichton. He knows how to write those kind of thrilling stories as we all know, but some things you just see coming in this film. That is too bad, but still, you have to expect some of the unexpected, cause that will be present to.
Conclusion: Disclosure is a nice, well made, erotic and tensefull Thriller which also has some good dramatic moments. Recommended to Thriller fans, Demi Moore fans, Michael Douglas fans and to anyone else who wants to see a thriller where the situations get hot and out of hand.
Like the tagline of the film says: sex is power. In this film you will see that indeed, with a nice thriller edge to it.
Outstanding Book, Good Movie.......2006-08-02
The book 'Disclosure' by Michael Crichton was an amazing book full of suspense and hi-tech excitement. Intertwining the newest computer abilities (I love the way a big 'E' jumps out when the main character get an e-mail LOL) and taking the subject of sexual harrasment and going the opposite direction, this had movie written all over it. The resulting product by Barry Levinson is good but not great, more like 3 1/2 stars out of 5 if I had the option. I enjoyed it (albeit the movie is a bit dated at this point in time), but it probably could have been a little better, the cheesy score at times doesn't help the movie in the long run. Good chemistry by Douglas (man does he ever get to screw around with the cutest women) and Moore, this is a good film to sit back and take in, even though it is slow at times.

Customer Reviews:
GARBAGE.......2007-08-24
There is absolutely nothing compelling, or thought provoking about this movie, If you are familiar with the folks in this DVD then you will simply hear them give a rehash of info you already know!!!!
A good UFO DVD convinces the sceptic!! and you cannot do that by not explaining which scenes are just some CGI filler crap to make the movie go along or are these scenes actual verifiable UFO footage.
Most of the material(DVDs,Videos) from Germany and Eastern Europe, does more harm to the serious study of ET phenomenon then supporting it!!!!!
A Compelling Documentary on ExoPolitics.......2007-07-31
Fastwalkers: They Are Here is a powerful cinematic presentation of a cutting-edge new paradigm which is destined to completely change our concept of humans and their relation to the Universe. Director Miles has masterfully assembled a collage of credible witnesses from military, scientific, and journalistic sectors within an international context which is tastefully low-key, yet deeply credible and intellectually compelling. This landmark documentary skillfully introduces the emerging paradigm of "Exopolitics" into the Global Arena as a bright new pathway for renaissance, enlightenment and survival of Humans as an evolutionary species.Elliott Maynard, PhD, Arcos Cielos Research Center, Sedona, Arizona
A waste of money.......2007-06-02
Talking heads and really bad graphics. Nothing new.
Out of the Blue is by far the best UFO documentary to come along in recent years. Although I've yet to see a completely objective UFO film.
Not worth your time and money. What stunning new footage???.......2007-04-22
There is no stunning new footage. Why did they sell something saying there is when clearly there isn't! All it is is 90 mins of experts talking.. and talking.. and talking.. it almost put me sleep! No substance, or exciting new information. It's just them giving their opinions on the same boring crap we've heard for decades. And don't get me started on the poorly designed graphics and robotic host. I could've made this DVD myself, really! Just take a bunch of experts, sit them down and have them talk for 90 mins, and make sure to plug their books. There is nothing new in what they're saying.. it's all been said and done before under a new "clever" name.. Fastwalkers! Absolutely boring. Nothing new. Move on.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH SUBTITLES?.......2007-03-16
SOMEBODY KNOWS ABOUT THE SUBTITLES?
I LIVE IN MEXICO AND I'M REALLY INTERESTING IN THE DVD.
I WENT TO JAIME MAUSSAN'S CONFERENCE, AMAZING! AMAZING!
HE KNOWS EVERYTHING!

Description
John McWhirter is a hard-drinking reporter whose award-winning career is slipping away. But he's just been handed the story of a lifetime and his editor wants the scoop. A group of radicals want McWhirter to protect a beautiful fugitive who is actually a Palestinian operative on the run from the FBI and an assassin. As the pulse-pounding action builds to an astonishing climax, McWhirter must fight for both the woman he loves and the story of a lifetime--and hope he doesn't have to choose between them.
Customer Reviews:
UNFORTUNATELY, THE SCREENPLAY WINS OUT........2004-09-29
Fred Ward enjoys a rare starring assignment in this Canadian made melodrama, cast as an award winning New York City reporter who has seen palmier days, yet has decided, when given an opportunity, to write the most significant story of his career, one in which his private past forms a critical chapter. John McWhirter (Ward) had belonged to a radical left-wing organization during the 1960s that attempted to bomb an R.O.T.C. building, but his identity was not disclosed by those who were arrested and sentenced to substantial prison sentences. Shortly after two of the bombers are released, they pressure McWhirter to provide a safe house wherein a Peruvian refugee (Rachel Ticotin) may hide, and when he agrees to the task as payment for his moral debt, he quickly finds himself enmeshed in dealings with such as the C.I.A., the F.B.I. and Palestinian terrorists (although strangely the subsequent murderous proceedings apparently occur without involvement by the New York City Police Department). Director John Bradshaw is notably competent with use of extras, therewith smoothing the flow of action, and his oversight of editing and other post-production processes assist in keeping the film interesting, but the storyline, and chiefly its rushed and logic bereft ending, largely jettisons his endeavours. There are curious casting choices, with Virginia Madsen rather uncomfortable as a metropolitan area newspaper editor, while Penelope Ann Miller thoroughly revels in her eccentric turn as a C.I.A. contract killer, while sterling actors Christopher Plummer and Kim Coates are too lightly used as F.B.I. agents; Ticotin garners the performing laurels, creating her part as an ambiguously actuated fugitive. Cinematographer Barry Stone provides well-composed scenes despite ineffective utilization of flashbacks; in a final analysis the script is what most matters here and a coherent narrative structure requisite for such an ambitious plot as this is simply not forthcoming.

**** RECOMMENDED
