100% Recomended. This DVD was the intro to change my life forever.......2007-09-17
This DVD was the intro to change my life forever. Law of attraction is one of the 7 Universal Laws that operate the Universe. I recommend also The Attractor Factor by Joe Vitale and Science of Success of James Ray. 100% perfect books. Advice: Everything you read you need to practice taking ACTION otherwise you just memorize and you won't have any result in your life. Thanks forever

The Secret: Movie synopsis and opinion.......2007-09-14
The Secret (Extended Edition)
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind
Basically it breaks down like this "Like attracts Like". You attract to you what you put out type thing. This movie tries to explain how to use this on a conscious level for achieving what you want in your life instead of attracting what you don't. I love this movie, I love the idea behind this movie. I find it very empowering.
Yes, the movie does emphasize a bit on wealth and gain, however it also speaks of using it (the secret) in Health and Relationships, how it can apply to anything and anyone. I love that idea, maybe the people just need a little faith in something other than themselves. I think of this movie as a gift for the masses, just think it we could all get ourselves together long enough to do something on a deeper level. Also check out "The Power of the Subconscious Mind by John Murphy", it's been around since the 60's. Good luck and keep an open mind.
A good first step........2007-09-14
I hope this movie inspires and uplifts all who watch it.
Few would deny that if you are born into a rich family, one which values financial success, and you are taught to succeed; then you will probably be successful. Being positive will come naturally to you. If on the other hand, you are born into a poor family, one which struggles to survive, and you are taught to struggle; then you will probably not be successful. Being negative will come naturally to you.
Of course, there are exceptions. There are those who succeed despite all obstacles of birth and circumstance. We read about them. We admire them. And it is to those many individuals desiring to be exceptions that "The Secret" aims. And there is no doubt in my mind that positive thinking is a requirement of success.
And there's nothing wrong with being successful. There was a comedian once who said, more or less, "I've been rich, and I've been poor, and believe you me rich is better." I think it was Joe E. Brown who said that, and I agree with him. While I have never been rich, I have been poor. And I did not like it. Making ends meet took all my time. I was too tired to meditate, too tired to read nourishing books, and too tired to spend time with those I loved. But I was not too tired to worry.
Nor is there anything wrong with being positive, setting intentions, and manifesting what you think you want. That is much better than being negative, not setting intentions, and manifesting what you think you do not want.
For those who struggle to send children to college, pay mortgages, and take care of aging parents; this will be an uplifting movie. Life can be hard, and people need hope. But I also imagine that most of those who love the message in "The Secret" know that there is more to life than living the "good" life. And I am sure the contributors to this DVD would agree.
As for me, the good that I seek beyond the "good" life is a state of inner stillness. And, as much as I value abundance and the teachings around it, I cannot manifest this inner state through positive thinking. It is through letting go of my thoughts that I enter into stillness.
We all know that the Buddha advocated the middle path. He neither distained nor desired the riches of this world. He saw that the poor struggled to get money, and the rich struggled to keep money. Therefore he talked about living in balance, first with oneself and then with ones neighbors. To me his words are as wise today as when he first spoke them. And perhaps the real secret is to set our intentions to live in harmony with each other.
Thank you, John C. Conley, author of "Letters to My Friends: A No Guarantees Guide to Awakening."
Product Description
On this inspirational DVD program, Esther and Jerry Hicks present the teachings of the Non-Physical entity Abraham, whom Esther calls infinite intelligence and Jerry refers to as the purest form of love I have ever encountered. The Law of Attraction is never more evident than in the pulse of an Abraham-Hicks Art of Allowing Workshop. And this is one of the years best, The Secret Behind The Secret...so sit back, relax, allow, and attract! Abraham defies explanation. Defies reason. Defies logic. Defies what many call common sense. So forget what you re seeing. And concentrate on what you re hearing. It is the sound of your heart. Beating a little faster and a little truer. It is the sound of Abraham straight up. And once you have heard it, your life will never be the same again. This fascinating DVD, includes segments on the Trilogy, The Meaning of Life and much, much more!

Inquisitive Viewer.......2007-09-15
After seeing the "Hollywood" movie of The Secret dvd. I was not contented with fashionable knowledge that is not, and has not been a secret. I had a strong point of realization that my mind is so powerful, and I was reminded what ever I am thinking, I will attract.... from watching the dvd "The Secret". However, there was something missing..., I could not make the connection of my spiritual being to accept such message as the truth. More so as luck and good fortune.
Until I viewed "Abraham The Secret Behind The Secret". My spiritual inquisitive mind was finally satisfied, that there was more for me to learn and experience the true knowledge of wisdom, as I can connect with my inner being and let all is well as I come to peace with source...Thank you Abraham for revealing the True Secret Behind The Secret!
The Secret Behind "The Secret".......2007-09-12
Very poor. The content was all about Esther & Jerry Hicks--not about "The Secret." Also, it was not professionally done. The voices were poor quality. I would like to return it if possible. I understand you sell used discs.
Simple brilliant and inspiring.......2007-08-22
This is one of my favorites in the collection I have from Esther and Jerry. I have all their books on my office desk and continually at different periods of the day pick this one up up and read a few pages then return peacefully to my work tuned in and turned on to new messages from "abraham". As a teacher myself for over 15 years now I refer to their works and send hundreds of clients to register with their site ... please buy this book and spread the word you will help change the world and we need you beside us.
Excellent introduction to Universal Laws.......2007-08-10
The Abraham material as provided through Esther Hicks is the best practical tool information I've come across to help my clients understand and utilize these Universal Laws. This particular product is an excellent starting place for this journey. I recommend it highly.
Excellent movie on Manifesting...........2007-08-10
I highly recommend this movie to anyone who wants to understand the Laws of the Universe and how to manifest their desires in life!

Esther Williams Volume 1.......2007-09-13
For any fan that loved watching her swim to wonderful music - and the light heartedness that went with her movies - the enjoyable cast, music, lighthearted storylines, and happy endings...this volume is for them!
DANGEROUS WHEN WET OR DRY!.......2007-09-13
These DVDs have been beautifully transferred. The films are entertaining but it is appropriate to say at this late date that Esther Williams is a minor actress surrounded by wonderful talent and gorgeous production values. Despite her swimming prowess, she was the Britny Spears of her day.
Not disappointed.......2007-09-01
I really liked Esther Williams when her movies came on the late late show when I was a kid...These movies to me don't disappoint...I hadn't seen the one which was her first movie called "Bathing Beauty" with Red Skeleton. I really liked it...They even had an interviewed her about her life.... The extras were good as well...Overall I was very pleased with my purchase.
DVD Esther Williams.......2007-08-25
The price was very competitive, shipping reasonable. Package came very quickly, without paying for fast shipping. The cd was protected well and no damage. Very pleased with service.
Oh, this girl is something else!.......2007-08-24
Esther Williams is one of the best examples of what a woman is. She should be able to be physically able, great looks, and a good actress.

This soapy but highly watchable television "sequel" to Gone with the Wind, the most popular Hollywood movie ever made, has nothing to do with memories of a vanished antebellum South. But it does end up in Ireland, where the determined Scarlett O'Hara Butler (played with frosty passion by Joanne Whalley-Kilmer) turns hard times into an opportunity by buying the ancestral home of her family. Before that happens, however, Scarlett fights to win back the estranged Rhett Butler (manfully portrayed by Timothy Dalton), often seen in the company of other women, struggles for control over the homestead Tara, and gets caught in yet another compromising position with poor Ashley Wilkes (Stephen Collins). The troubles never stop (Scarlett's Ireland adventures land her in a heap of trouble from which only Rhett can save her), but this TV miniseries wisely keeps the focus on these captivating characters, their entangled histories, and the collective destiny that refuses to part them. The show also looks good: the location scenes in Ireland are particularly handsome, and there is something unaccountably satisfying about seeing Scarlett and Rhett walking through peaceful green hills. Enjoy. --Tom Keogh
Customer Reviews:
Surprisingly GOOD !!.......2007-09-01
If you like "gone with the wind " North and South, you will love this!!
Highly Recommended!!
This to me was a sleeper.......2007-08-30
I think Scarlet is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The first time it is hard to get used to the new lead. I am so used to them now it is hard to watch GONE WITH THE WIND. Gone with the wind had no closure, Scarlet gives that closure. I watch this movie over and over. I've worn out my copy, and am fixing to reorder it. During to the time lapse between the movies, I'm sorry folks but they could hardly have Clark Gable, whom I love, or vivian Leigh. If you like long movies this is for you. The finish to a great romance.
The Pros/Cons of Scarlett the movie..........2007-08-26
First of all there are a lot more cons than pros, but somebody did go to the trouble of adapting the book to the screen even if it was the small screen. For a hardcore Gone With The Wind Fan this movie may be too much to fathom. I've read GWTW and Scarlett twice. Now, this is the movie so I won't go into the book issues.
The pros: The costumes are pretty amazing. Timothy Dalton does a surprisingly good job as a rough Rhett Butler. The movie itself is entertaining enough and easy to follow. I wouldn't consider it a worthless piece of tripe and wasted celluloid space so it gets an average 3 stars from me. If you can sit through five hours of movie it's pretty ok. I will admit I liked the end of the movie better than the book. It expanded more on Rhett's relationship with Cat and life with Scarlett once they were reunited.
The cons: Well lets face it, there's no outdoing the original. Gone With The Wind is a classic and it's in the top 100 movies ever made list. Joanne Whalley-Kilmer grates on my nerves in the beginning and also Scarlett's emerald eyes didn't show up in this movie. Ever heard of color contacts people? Hello!!! But eventually after a couple of hours I got used to Joanne's Scarlett. The creative license the screenwriter and director took in adapting this movie from the book is ridiculous. First of all, the scene where Scarlett looks at herself in the mirror and is appalled at the vision and then breaks the mirror with the liquor bottle happens a lot earlier in the book... like before she went to Charleston to win back Rhett. But that's a small liberty and who cares when it happens. The biggest issues I have are in the latter half of the movie in Ireland. First of all old Katie Scarlett dies. Second there was an old "witch" who helped Scarlett give birth on Halloween. Third the whole Fenian brotherhood subplot was completely destroyed. Why include that if they were going to completely write it out when it was in the book until almost the very end!!! Fourth Colum didn't get killed by Lord Fenton. Fifth Lord Fenton was not the evil man they portrayed him as and he never raped Scarlett. Scarlett was NEVER on trial for murder in the book. That was taking interpretation beyond anything normal or right. I was really irritated at that... even yelling at the tv about how that wasn't in the book! I understand you have to leave some things out or the movie would be 10 hours long, but seeing as how it was 5 they should have stuck a little better to the story. Why completely change the plot?
Overall if you like period movies with sappy, suspenseful romance plots that are around 5 hours long then this is the movie for you. If you are looking for a true sequel to the original movie in the same splendor don't hold your breath. Even if you are looking for a movie version of the book don't expect much. In my opinion it's watchable - at least 2.5 stars worth but half stars aren't an option so I was generous.
Blue-eyed Rhett, brown-eyed Scarlett?.......2007-07-29
I was sorely disappointed in this mini-series. It was not true to Alexandra Ripley's book, which in turn was not true to the original GWTW. The whole murder and trial plot line was bizarre. Why did Belle Watling appear in Charleston? Rhett with blue eyes, Scarlett with brown eyes? Whoever wrote the screenplay was not familiar enough with the original material to realize what details were just not meant to be messed with. Okay as a television drama, but it doesn't live up to its association with GWTW. If you love Gone with the Wind, the characters of Rhett and Scarlett, or just want to see the screen adaptation of the book Scarlett, avoid this movie, you will be disappointed too.
Did they even read the book?.......2007-07-29
So poor quality that it is embarrassing that they call it a "sequel" to Gone With the Wind. The story line is very weak and completely follows a re-write from the novel.

For the Hollywood remake rule, which dictates that an update of an older film be inferior to the original in almost every aspect, The Thomas Crown Affair stands as a glorious exception. The original 1968 film, starring a dapper Steve McQueen and a radiant Faye Dunaway, was a diverting pop confection of mod clothes and nifty break-ins, but not much more. John McTiernan's new version, though, cranks up the entertainment factor to mach speed, turning what was a languid flick into a high-adrenaline caper romance. Thomas Crown (Pierce Brosnan) is now a man of industry who likes to indulge in a little high-priced art theft on the side; Catherine Banning (Rene Russo) is the insurance investigator determined to get on his tail in more ways than one. If you're thinking cat-and-mouse game, think again--it's more like cat vs. smarter cat, as both the thief and the investigator try to outwit each other and nothing is off-limits, especially after they start a highly charged love affair that's a heated mix of business and pleasure.
What makes this Thomas Crown more enjoyable than its predecesor is McTiernan's attention to detail in both the set action pieces (no surprise from the man who helmed Die Hard with precision accuracy) and the developing romance, the witty and intelligent script by Leslie Dixon (she wrote the love scenes) and Kurt Wimmer (he wrote the action scenes), and, most of all, its two stunning leads (both over 40 to boot), combustible both in and out of bed. Brosnan, usually held prisoner in the James Bond straitjacket, lets loose with both a relaxed sensuality and a comic spirit he's rarely expressed before. The film, however, pretty much belongs to Russo, who doesn't just steal the spotlight, but bends it to her will. Beautiful, stylish, smart, self-possessed, incredibly sexy, she's practically a walking icon; it's no wonder Crown falls for her hook, line, and sinker. With Denis Leary as a police detective smitten with Russo, and Faye Dunaway in a throwaway but wholly enjoyable cameo as Brosnan's therapist. --Mark Englehart
Description
Thrill-seeking billionaire Thomas Crown (Brosnan) loves nothing more than courting disasterand winning! So when his world becomes too stiflingly safe, he pulls off his boldest stunt ever: stealing a priceless paintingin broad daylightfrom one of Manhattan's most heavily guarded museums. But his post-heist excitement soon pales beside an even greater challenge: Catherine Banning (Russo). A beautiful insurance investigator hired to retrieve the artwork, Catherine's every bit as intelligent, cunning and hungry for adventure as he is. And just when Thomas realizes he's finally met his match, she skillfully leads him into a daring game of cat and mouse that's more intoxicating and dangerous than anything either of them has ever experienced before!
Customer Reviews:
Thomas Crown II.......2007-08-07
This is a very good remake. Pierce Brosnan is more dashing than cool but Rene Russo is just plain hot! My wife says they used body doubles for the wild sex scenes - Horay for stunt men! The guy playing Catherine Banning must have shaved his legs.
The biggest difference between the original and the remake is the psychological make-up of the principal characters. Neither Brosnan nor Russo play antisocial characters as did McQueen and Dunaway. In the remake, Crown is just a rich guy who is bored and likes art. Russo's character displays the ethics and good judgement you would attribute to a successful insurance investigator in real life. Brosnan and Russo portrayed the believable characters of a love story. Thomas Crown II has a feel good ending and reinforces most of what we are looking for in our own lives; with just a little bit more flair!
BUY THE MOVIE - watch it with you sweetie and eat a warm snack, like popcorn. You're gonna have a good time!
Artful Dodger.......2007-07-21
It's not often that a remake is better than an original, but since the original sucked fairly significantly, almost anything would end up being better. This one is spicy, funny and has some WICKED music (and I'm not particularly a music lover).
Premise: insurance adjuster (hot chick) comes into town to investigate the theft of a famous painting. She meets and falls in love with the billionaire theif, and then has to cope with betraying her job or her heart...
This movie has one of the best and most memorable scenes I've ever watched; the bit at the end where it all "comes clean in the wash".... funny as, and brilliant. I grin like an idiot every time.
An Enduring Story... Becuase It's Real.......2007-07-13
There are plenty of Thomas Crowns in the world; maybe not all as rich as the title character, but just as clever at the "game of life" - and lonely - as a consequence of their insight and talents.
This film does an excellent job of highlighting the frustrations of "self made men" when it comes to finding trust, happiness, and expressing themselves to women, and society at large.
Anyone who knows the feeling of being "alone in a crowded room" will find this movie to be a beacon that there is hope out there.
The soundtrack is bangin' too!
Hot, Hot, Hot...........2007-07-08
This remake of a Steve Mc Queen movie is much better than the original and it took some convincing for me to even look at this film, but once I did, wow! Pierce is by far my favorite Bond and his character is an action packed one as well. He plays the perfect man--suave and debonair. His antics as a billionaire playboy are entertaining! The love scene with Rene Russo was so hot, you have to control yourself. This movie has it all--action, comedy and pure entertainment. You never get bored with it. A great buy.
OK.......2007-03-27
This movie is OK, but I prefer the original version with Steve McQueen. This remake is too Hollywood for me, with too many unbelievable stunts. The original was better.

Winner of the Academy Award for best picture of 1989, this gracefully moving drama, adapted from the hit play by Alfred Uhry, chronicles the 25-year friendship between a stubborn, aging Southern widow (Jessica Tandy) and her loyal chauffeur (Morgan Freeman). At first, the self-sufficient Miss Daisy is reluctant to accept the services of a chauffeur, but Hoke is quiet, wise, and tolerant, and as the years pass the unlikely friends develop a deep mutual respect and admiration. Tandy deservedly won the Oscar for her sassy and sensitive performance, and Freeman earned an Oscar nomination for bringing quiet depth and integrity to his memorable role. Ironically, director Bruce Beresford (Tender Mercies) was not nominated, but the film won Oscars for makeup and for Uhry's screenplay, in addition to a supporting actor nomination for Dan Aykroyd as Daisy's supportive son. Delicate, funny, and bittersweet, Driving Miss Daisy was a surprise hit when released, and marked the crowning achievement of Tandy's great career. --Jeff Shannon
Description
Four Academy Awards(R) including Best Picture! The funny, tender story of a feisty Southern lady and her chauffeur, fueled by the starpower of Jessica Tandy, Morgan Freeman and Dan Aykroyd.
Customer Reviews:
WONDERFUL story !!.......2007-09-12
I didn't see this movie when it came out years ago. I wanted to, but just never did....Now, I wish I had seen it in theater !
Jessica Tandy fully deserves the Oscar she won that year (and I think she's the oldest actor to win one?? No wonder with that performance!). Her portrayal of a 90 something elderly southern Jewish matron beginning to lose her cognitive mental skills was brilliant. And the film does her character justice by keeping that part minimal at the end, so the viewer doesn't lose remembrance of her feisty intelligence in the first three-quarters of the movie.
Morgan Freeman was absolutely terrific, and so was Dan Akroyd in his serious supporting performance. What a change in Akroyd from his comedies and SNL (10-15 yrs earlier).
Accurate settings, good period accents, etc etc...
I can't believe anyone would give this less than 5 stars.
If you haven't seen it - by all means, by it !!
AND WHAT A WONDERFUL DRIVE IT IS!.......2007-09-08
I enjoy all types of film....Horror, Dramas, Thrillers, Comedies, Mysteries,......etc., but I think the movies I enjoy most are ones that have such great characters and well written dialogue that it doesn't matter what they are doing on screen. Driving Miss Daisy is just such a movie! This movie spans 30 years of a relationship between an old Jewish woman and a old black man. I'm not going to go into the story, but it is a fantastic film and wonderful performances abound by Freeman,Tandy and Ackroyd. This is a must see film and should not be missed by any serious movie lover! The DVD transfer is very good and there are some OK extras.
warm, meaningful movie.......2007-09-06
This is a perfect example of a classic wonderful great movie. The actors and the acting was terrific. The meaning was great. They should make more movies like this instead of violent movies.
Nice family drama.......2007-08-21
A calm and subtle review of race relations over about 40 years. Never in your face, it still makes you think about the changes in our country and the work that remains to be done.
Freeman, Tandy & Ackroyd.......2007-08-10
A smart, wonderful, touching movie that slowly, carefully wins the viewer over with beautiful acting, smart dialogue, and a pitch perfect sense of time & place.
Morgan Freeman had been acting on broadway, film and tv for nearly two decades before he finally came into his own at the age of 52 as an A-list lead actor in Driving Miss Daisy for which he was oscar nominated. Coupled with his excellent supporting turn in Glory, Freeman became one the most beloved and bankable stars in Hollywood practically overnight.
Primarily a stage actress, Jessica Tandy didn't achieve notice by casual filmgoers until well into her 70's. She celebrated her 80th birthday before she won the Best Actress award in this movie.
Dan Ackroyd is famous for being hysterically funny. It is kind of a shame he hasn't done more dramatic acting. He was rewarded for his efforts in Driving Miss Daisy with an academy award nomination.
interesting that a movie featuring a warmhearted friendship between a black man and a Jewish woman in 1950's and 60's Georgia won the Best Picture award and Do the Right Thing and Glory weren't even nominated. I guess a relaxed nonthreatening race relations movie was more palatable to the academy voters.
For those looking for a break from crude comedies and blow 'em up blockbusters, DMD delivers as a fine dramatic period piece starring three fine actors at the top of their forms.

Lest anyone doubt that Maude was part of the great second golden age of TV sitcoms in the mid-'70s, the first season of the show will lay those doubts to rest. The inimitable Bea Arthur, who won an Emmy for the role, is the uber-feminist-realist at the center of a loving, slightly dysfunctional family in the Norman Lear series. Arthur, and Maude, are fearless in confronting issues of the day, from abortion and penalties for marijuana possession to the real heartbreak post-divorce. The supporting cast is first-rate, too, including Adrienne Barbeau as Maude's daughter, Carol, who's come home to nest after a traumatic divorce; Bill Macy as Maude's beleaguered fourth husband, Walter; and the beloved, fearless Esther Rolle as housekeeper Florida Evans. Despite the roiling issues and confrontation s in each episode, nothing rattles Maude, who became something of a role model for women trying to navigate through turbulent changing times. Sample dialogue: Maude: "When he says wife, he means possession." Walter: "So what, Maude? You told me a hundred times you want to be possessed." Maude: "Walter Findlay, I never said that standing up and you know it." Maude speaks her mind in all 20 episodes--and if you don't like it, God'll get you for that. --A.T. Hurley

Product Description
Emmy Award-winner Beatrice Arthur stars in this beloved, groundbreaking sitcom created by Norman Lear. Maude was first introduced as Edith Bunker's outspoken, liberal cousin on the classic TV show "All in the Family." Her spinoff, set in Tuckahoe, New York, focuses on Maude's daily adventures at home with fourth husband Walter (Bill Macy), divorced daughter Carol (Adrienne Barbeau), and Carol's son Phillip. Joining in on the fun is housekeeper Florida (Esther Rolle, TV's Good Times), and conservative next-door neighbor Arthur (Conrad Bain, TV's "Diff'rent Strokes"). Guest stars include Rue McClanahan (TV's "The Golden Girls"), John Amos (TV's "Good Times"), and Tom Bosley (TV's "Happy Days"). Blessed with some of the best TV comedy writing ever, along with controversial plotlines, the show is just as hilarious and surprising today as it was when it debuted in the top ten in the early 1970s. Full of memorable one-liners, including her famous warning "God'll get you for that, Walter!"
Customer Reviews:
Maude was a comic masterpiece.......2007-09-17
"Maude" stars famed comedienne, Bea Arthur in the title role. This is Bea's best work (sorry "Golden Girls" fans) because her part is so larger than like (just like herself.) Maude doesn't' know how to take no for an answer; she rules her house with an iron fist (and tongue.) This is pure 70's entertainment and a must for any Bea Arthur fan.
Maude.......2007-09-13
I've never seen this show on television but was loosely familiar with it. It is hilaaaarious and the cast is perfect; I'm loving these eps.
I am also completely sick of companies who cannot put these shows out properly; if they release future seasons of Maude, I will be buying them, but otherwise ya know what? Who cares. To make money, the company has to put them out. I am not going to buy some stupid, garbage show because they failed to release this.
It's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen, as I'm discovering.
MAUDE-fabulous Maude!!!.......2007-09-03
I don't care what anybody says: This has got to be the BEST COMEDY EVER PUT ON TELEVISION. Sarcastic, witty, oftentimes dark humor but realistic, it's a gem.
Maude The Complete First Season.......2007-08-28
What A Great SERIES How Good To Have A Good LAUGH If I DONT Buy ANOTHER SERIES IM SURE GOD WILL GET ME FOR THAT
Bea Arthur Fan.......2007-07-16
I love Bea Arthur and didn't really watch "Maude" when it was on tv as a regular show. I found "Maude" to be ground breaking for women especially for it's time. I really enjoyed it and hope season 2 will be available soon.

Description
When it comes to homespun fun, the Kettles rule the roost, and now four of their hillbilly tales, including The Egg and I, The Further Adventures of Ma and Pa Kettle, Ma and Pa Kettle Go to Town and Ma and Pa Kettle Back on the Farm, are together in a spanking new collection, The Adventures of Ma and Pa Kettle: Volume 1. Whether they're hobnobbing with city folk, or tangling with newfangled appliances, Ma (Majorie Main) and Pa (Percy Kilbride) always stay true to their country roots as they try and make sense of our crazy world. Pa might be a tad too gullible, and Ma might be a bit too feisty, but they always seem to get the best of every zany situation with luck, pluck and a whole lot of good old-fashioned love. From beginning to end, it's total madcap adventure and country corn at its finest.
Customer Reviews:
Country style humor at its best.......2007-08-12
This family is part of rural Americas upbringing. The humor is timeless and of a laid back style that was the envy of us all as children.
These films bring out family values that are missing in so much of the world today.
The memories that will come back are priceless.
Best quality rating for clarity of both sound and picture.
Ma & Pa Kettle - Vol 1.......2007-08-09
What a joy to return to a simpler time. Wonderful for children of any age - sure to stir lots of questions from the younger set - if you can just get them to sit still long enough to get started. Highly recommend it.
Love it!!!.......2007-08-07
I love it! It's so funny. I have been watch it with my dad since I was teenager and finally got this for my own.
Nice to go back.......2007-05-13
Excellent restoration of some of the funniest pieces of cinema ever produced. Yes, you have to somewhat be a fan but seeing Ma & Pa getting their start in The Egg and I makes each addition a laugh a minute. Granted, things might not be politically correct by today's "standards" but if you want good clean comedy, this set is for you.
All time favorite movie.......2007-05-07
This is a clean movie without the cursing, vulgar, and sexual content that movies contain these days. My three children loved it and Would recommed this movie to any one that is looking for a good family movie.

Get ready for some seriously big hair. The Last Dragon--or, to call it by its full title, Berry Gordy's the Last Dragon--is a stunning example of 1980s camp cinema. One-name kung fu wonder Taimak plays Leroy Green, a.k.a. Bruce Leroy, a humble student of kung fu who has achieved the highest level of skill, but hasn't yet found his inner master. Wandering through the streets of New York in a Chinese peasant outfit, he accidentally becomes the protector of nightclub hostess/video jockey Laura Charles (played by former Prince protégé Vanity, who also costarred in the trash classic Action Jackson). She's being threatened by a height-challenged mobster who wants her to play his girlfriend's video (the girlfriend is something of a Cyndi Lauper look-alike, played by Broadway star Faith Prince). Meanwhile, a man who calls himself Sho'Nuff, the Shogun of Harlem, wants to kick Leroy's ass and prove himself the baddest kung fu master in town. Add to this Leroy's smart-mouthed brother Richie (who calls Leroy "the chocolate-covered yellow peril"), a dregs-of-Motown soundtrack (DeBarge is a high point), ninja battles, pseudo-Eastern philosophical babble, and a jaw-dropping club performance by Vanity, and you have a hilarious example of why we're all so very glad the '80s are over. Featuring a bit role by William H. Macy (Fargo, Magnolia). --Bret Fetzer
Customer Reviews:
One to Remember..........2007-09-04
I remember when this movie hit the theaters. It was 1985 and instantly this movie became one of my childhood favorites. Although, this movie wasn't academy awarding winning material it did leave a long lasting impression on many. The movie covered romance, drama, comedy, and action. I wouldn't say that Taimak and Vanity were the best of actors at the time, but Taimak instantly became every teenaged girl's fantasy as did Vanity for every teenaged boy.
This film was one of the movies that began the spoof era. It's just one of those films because it wasn't award winning and it was a predominately African American movie, you couldn't help but support it. This movie came along when blaxploitation films had fated, but right before inner city hood movies were the rave (i.e. Boys in the Hood, Menace II Society, and Dead Presidents). We fell in love with this movie, Krush Groove, and Breakin' because it was about the black man underdogs and how they overcame their challenges.
Kung Fu for the Ghetto!!!.......2007-08-13
Great pop culture classic. If your into "TRUE" hip-hop, then you'll definitely appreciate this movie.
"You are the last dragon. You posses the power of the glow.".......2007-08-04
Even though this movie might be cheesy compared to the movies that come out now, this is still a classic martial arts film...If you are a fan of karate movies and you haven't seen this one, then you are missing out...I love how they even pay a tribute to the best karate movie ever made "Enter The Dragon" when a fight between Sho' Nuff and other people breaks out in a movie theater and they are playing that movie in the background...
Cheesy Cult Classic.......2007-07-16
But great! For an at-home double feature, pair it up with Caveman (w/Ringo Starr).
Great Nostalgia!.......2007-07-16
This movie is a classic, it really took me back, and it was just as good as before.

It is amazing that people making these films could place this country bumpkin family in any situation and their humor just falls in like it belongs there.
This second set of DVDs is just as great as volume one was. A must have addition to any good collection of family humor of rural country America at it's best.
I never thought I could enjoy a black and white movie again till I came here and purchased these masterpieces of movie making from the past.
Again they bring back priceless memories.
Ma & Pa Kettle - Vol 2.......2007-08-09
Continuing joy! Who can forget any of these classics? These movies were an anniversary gift that will be enjoyed and loved in the years ahead. So wonderful to find movies just as you remember them! Good family fun!

These movies are some of the few good memories from my childhood. While not exactly of Academy Award quality, they were hilarious! My family had 12 kids and these did remind me of alot of aspects of growing up. No violence, cursing, or sexual references are not necessary in these type of films. The whole family can sit back with soda, popcorn and each other and enjoy these family classics. I also bought Volume 2. They are all very funny. I just ordered Vol. 1-4 of Abbott & Castello classic films. I expect them to be as good as The "Kettles" films. As Ma Kettle would shout "Come and get it"! Enjoy! Papa Larry
