I like Megadeth but:.......2006-10-09
After seeing Dave Mustaine whine on the Metallica DVD complain about how he resented the success of Metallica on the Some Kind of Monster disc I've resigned myself to not watching them so much (Rude Awakening DVD was AWESOME!) and just listening to the CD's because they do have a lot of good songs and he's successful enough on his own without them dudes and all of thier controversy, (I don't think that they can compare to Cannibal Corpe's 'Kill' CD) - I think he (Dave Mustaine & others) stand better alone especially after that fiasco of Lars Ulrich with the file sharing issues that cost them alot of fans because I saw one of the last concerts with Cliff Burton before he died in Ft. Worth Texas when they opened for OZZY OSBOURNE and I don't think they've been as good since; too many bass player changes. Saint Anger sucked in many respects because it was disjointed. I read an article years ago that said that Cliff Burton and James Hetfield were working on a side project called 'Mighty Sphincter', - I've been looking for that record/cd ever since and haven't been able to find it.
definitivamente un arsenal d megadeth.......2006-07-05

Great.......2006-06-29
Arsenal Of Megadeth is the newest release of Megadeth. I must say I was really glad they finally released something. Although this DVD undoubtfully left tons of footage that I've seen on the internet, plus The World Needs a Hero era. Overall it was a pretty good DVD for any Megadeth fan. For someone that stuck with Megadeth, since the 80's this DVD is definatly a must buy.
Where art thou 5.1?.......2006-06-15
I couldn't agree more with many of the reviews on this DVD. I, like many, was chomping at the bit to get my hands on this release. Yet, when I placed it in my DVD player, sat back on the couch and stared with anticipation at my plasma screen TV, the words 'Dolby Digital 2.0' scrolled across my amplifier. What is this?!? How could such a huge release fail to be 5.1 dolby digital? Anyways, I was not disappointed with the content, however, can only give four stars due to the omission of dolby digital surround sound.
Amazing Mega \collection.......2006-06-10

Description
Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry have both reached the career milestone of scoring 100 goals for Arsenal. Dennis Bergkamp, a scorer of truly great goals, reached his landmark in an FA Cup tie against Oxford United. A week later the lethal & prolific Thierry Henry thundered two against Birmingham City in the Premiership, joining his 'brother in arms' as an Arsenal Centurion. This double DVD celebrates both players achievements, presenting each and every goal. Two hundred superb goals, captured on two glorious DVDs.

Master Class.......2006-02-17
You don't have to be an Arsenal fan (I'm not) to get your moneysworth from this. If you love the game and enjoy the skills of great players, you'll be well entertained. I've sat and watched the Thierry Henry DVD over and over. I've used it as a teaching aid for coaching finishing inside the box, having players study and chart every goal in detail (80% of Henry's goals in open play are scored inside the penalty area). Quite simply, I cannot think of another striker in my 40 years of football who can finish with such precision and accuracy time after time. It's not just a bunch of goals, it's a master class. The Bergkamp DVD offers an opportunity to contrast a different style altogether. Although it was obviously released for the fan market, I recommend this set not just from the fan's point of view but as a valuable addition to the library of anyone who loves the game, studies it,coaches it or otherwise takes it seriously.
A must have for any Gunner fan........2005-02-21
This DVD categorizes chronologically the 100 goals scored by Dennis Berkamp and Thierry Henry. It also has commentary by the two players on some of their more memorable goals.
Dennis is getting close to retirement so this is a nice review of his prolific career at Highburry. Henry has only reached the apex of his career. He is probably the deadliest goal scorer in all of Europe. Though he is getting close to his 200-goal mark this DVD is worth captures his first 100 goals along with match results beautifully.
It's a bit pricey compared to what it sells for in the UK, but we football fans in the US get penalized, because football is not appreciated by the mass populous.
It definitely is a must have for any Arsenal fan, as we see Dennis Berkamp hand the baton Henry, in this terrific DVD. Look out for Henry's 200 goal DVD soon (I hope).
In My Humble Opinion
Excellent set for American Arsenal fans.......2005-02-11
It's about time we American EPL fans can get DVDs in Region 1 format...the Centurions DVD does not disappoint. One disc for Dennis Bergkamp, one for Thierry Henry, 100 goals each in sequential order. It really shows the skill of both players and how adaptable they are to any situation on the pitch. Each disc weaves the scoring highlights with interview clips with both footballers.
Since this is ported from an original PAL source, the video leaves a lot to be desired, but most English football fans in the US are used to the conversion. It's in 1:33 full frame format. The audio is Dolby stereo and is very clear - nothing spectacular, but serves its purpose.
An excellent buy for Arsenal fans.

COLD SWEAT
Joe Moran (Charles Bronson) is a former drug dealer who has just been released from jail and wants to rebuild his life. But his former "gang" has other plans. They find Joe living in France and now married, and in an attempt to bring Joe back to their flock they kidnap Joe's wife Fabienne (Liv Ulmann). Joe must do whatever it takes as a "lone wolf" to rescue his wife in a vengeful showdown with the gang's leaders.
GUNS OF DIABLO
Hired gun Linc Murdock (Charles Bronson) ends a life as a "wanderer" and gets a job as a wagon train guide. The wagon train is ambushed and Linc is sent to a nearby town for supplies, traveling with Jamie McPeeters (Kurt Russell). When they stop at an inn in town, Linc is shocked when he learns a waitress working at the inn is an old lover of his. He thought she had been killed years ago by accident in a showdown with a thief. Fate has it she's not only remarried...but has married the thief, who is not only responsible for the wagon train ambush, but wants to make sure that this time a showdown results in Linc's death.
SOMEONE BEHIND THE DOOR
Neurosurgeon Laurence Jeffries (Anthony Perkins) finds out his wife, Frances (Jill Ireland), has been unfaithful to him and now he wants her dead. When an amnesiac patient (Charles Bronson) seeks help from the doctor, Laurence slowly and methodically conditions his patient to believe that Frances is his wife, has cheated on him, and that he must murder her as a way of taking the "appropriate action."

i give this hopless transfer no stars as they look like they fished their copy out of the river before they dubed it. skip this and look for better copies!!!!
Multiple Early Facets of Charles Bronson..........2006-03-20
The 1st of this trilogy, "Guns of Diablo," apparently a 1964(?) piece, is somewhat reminicient of a milder version of "The Magnificent Seven," also starring Susan Oliver. "Cold Sweat," a 1970 movie, is much more traditional Bronson, with more suspense, and a spectacular car chase. The last of the three presented, "Someone Behind The Door," a 1971 release, has a rather frustrating, twisted plot, limiting useage of Bronson's best acting talents. Overall, this is an interesting smorgasboard for comparison to Bronson's later, superior works.

Customer Reviews:
A Must-Have for Every Fan!.......2006-07-26
This dvd is a definite collectors' item for all fans of soccer let alone just Arsenal fans. The last time a team from the oldest professional league in the world i.e. England had ever gone through an entire season unbeaten was in the 19th century.
This achievement by Arsenal is nothing short of unbelievable and may never even be repeated although that's what they said about Preston North End way back when. Still, this dvd has been very professionally made and the surround sound setup is of the highest quality. The background music incorporates the latest modern techno music that seems to be all the rave these days and you get interviews plus highlights from every game Arsenal played during the season as well.
This dvd will interest every fan of attacking and flowing football in the trademark Arsenal style.
Highly recommended!
Thorough entertainment.......2005-03-01
A must for any soccer fan. Excellent picture quality. This team made goal scoring look so easy, no wonder they walked off with the Premiership with four games to spare.
You gotta have it if you're a Gunner fan!.......2005-02-21
Well, this was the season that all Arsenal fans had been waiting for...infallibility in the Premiership.
This is an excellent DVD, highlighting key moments in the year, including the missed penalty by Ruud Van Nistlroy that would of gave Arsenal their only loss. The DVD has all the games played by the Gunners in the 2003/2004 season, including FA Cup, Carling Cup, and Champions League, which includes that titillating 5-1 victory over Inter Millan.
There are interviews by 12 members of the team including Henry and the manager Arsen Wegner.
I know the price is a bit high, but I don't regret buying it, and if you're an Arsenal fan or even a football fan, you must own this DVD, which captures some of the best football you'll see from any club team.
In My Humble Opinion
Unbelievable as well as untouchable.......2004-08-30
I was ecstatic at finding this DVD in the American format and so I ordered it instantly. The DVD takes a while to play as it has to show three or four production logos but these can be scanned past. Menus are easy to use and the view any match feature is a brilliant idea. Picture quality is very good and having the actual british commentators is a good touch. Finally the football contained on this DVD is spectacular and anyone who has an interest in soccer owes it to themselves to watch the highlights of the historical achievement of Arsenal Football Club. Unbeaten champions 2003/2004!

There's very little actual footage of nuclear detonations and the film quality is extremely poor. As the title of this review suggests, save your money. It doesn't deserve one star but that's the lowest I can rate it.

Alexander Dovzhenko's films are composed of astounding images and exciting dramatic moments, often in hard-to-follow narratives. Arsenal is no exception, a cinematically thrilling but narratively confusing story of a small band of factory workers who rise in rebellion and hole up in the Kiev munitions plant as nationalist troops surround the city. Based on a true story, the film explores conflicts in the Ukraine between the White Russians and the communist Bolsheviks during the Russian Revolution. Worker Tymish (Semyon Svshenko) breaks with his fellow citizens to join the people's army and returns to face his countrymen in an impossible battle. A true document of the Soviet avant-garde at its most idiosyncratic, the film doesn't always make the finer points clear to the non-Soviet audience, but the stunning images and expressionist moments--as when Tymish miraculously survives point-blank fire from the enemy, symbolic of the enduring revolution in the face of sacrifice--give it a powerful cinematic life. Dovzhenko, considered by many critics to be the poet of Soviet cinema and a Ukrainian himself, invests the film with a sense of purpose and an astounding visual beauty. Kino's new edition, digitally mastered by David Shepard, presents the most complete version of this Soviet masterpiece ever seen. --Sean Axmaker
Description
This avant-garde masterpiece from renowned Ukranian director Alexander Dovzhenko employs the most complex and elliptical montage style of any Soviet masters in this treatment of events from the Ukranian Civil War. Based on an actual incident from 1913, the story concerns a group of Bolsheviks who battle counter-revolutionary nationalist troops in Kiev, putting up an Alamo-like defense of their cause inside the city's "Arsenal" munitions plant. Outnumbered by the nationalist troops, the defenders demonstrate their revolutionary spirit in the climactic battle which displays a dazzling mixture of traditional Ukranian folklore with modernist film techniques for a dazzling collage!
Customer Reviews:
Still tremendously powerful after 80 years.......2006-01-16
This film is remarkable and enjoyable. It's silent and from a different era, so some of the story elements are portrayed with a heavy hand, but the visuals remain powerful and unique. The director draws characters just from their faces, and powerful action simply from standing still. The plot is linear enough for this kind of art- if you like powerful artistic expression, you'll like this film.
Reputation supercedes total merit.......2005-11-28
Alexander Dovzhenko's silent war film about the 1918 struggle of Bolshevik workers at a Kiev munitions factory against White Russian troops, which he intermingles with Ukrainian myth. It's an intriguing relic of European filmmaking, clearly influenced by the virtuoso montage editing of Sergei Eisenstein, though it is dated and hampered by the feeling that it was commissioned as propaganda at the time. A multifarious moral examination of war none the less.
Alexander Dovzhenko's "Arsenal" (Prognosis + Pragmatics).......2005-05-07
The essential schism between what could be called commercial, "Hollywood" film-making and other types of the art can be seen no clearer than with Dovzhenko's "Arsenal". Brutal, exhultant and alive with the possibilities of cinema as a means of motivating people to actually do something to change the world: the negation of posturing, of "style" as a hollow shell for aesthtic nicities in favour of a harsh, rigid yet above all pragmatic regime of signs.
The theme is the same as all great Marxist films: the coming to awareness by the individual of the inequality of his world (it is always a man's world as seen by a man). The scales fall from his eyes: and by the end the scales tip in favour of Justice.
But the real marvel is how Dovzhenko does all this: his long-standing fascination with the tension between static human beings, frozen into a state of shock at the brutality and sickness of the tsarist world in which they live, in contrast to the kinetic and bounteous world that encompasses everything; the wonderful use of props, such as the pathetic flip-flopping of an accordian off the back of a train as it lurches from the tracks; the brutal repetition of images -soldiers affected by laughing gas, their faces contorted into a death-grimace... And you ask, why aren't all films like this?
Not Enough Bang.......2004-12-03
The film itself is only a compilation of scenes which have no inherent meaning to someone living outside of Russia. I won't deny that some of the images and techniques were quite revolutionary at the time (filmed 1928) but the problem with the film is that it has no interest to the intellectual or common man. We are merely watching an arranged form of pictures, ranging from a one arm man beating a horse, to a toothless soldier in the war. Everything in between is awkward, haphazard and quite unnecessary. It would have been possible to invent a forum which kept the viewer interested but this would not be it although the method of the director is quite brilliant. In all, one should view this if they are an art student or a student of pre-Tarkovskian cinema.
Gorgeously Intriguing.......2000-11-10
I'm sure there's plenty of people who would normally pass on this movie, for two reasons:
1) It's silent.
2) It's Soviet propaganda.
See it anyway. Dovzhenko's visual style is bracing, showing an astounding range of black-and-white palettes, from dusty grays to hard-edged chiaroscuro effects. His editing is even more audacious than that of his countryman, Eisenstein; parallel narratives, extended atmospheric montages, long, tense scenes suddenly bursting into flash cuts of near-subliminal effect.
Yes, the narrative line is somewhat confusing, with juxtapositions of abstract battle scenes, flurries of political agitation, allgorical action, and stark, fable-like tableaux. But keeping in mind that Dovzhenko is trying to capture the transition of an entire country from war to chaos to corruption and back to war again actually can help wean the viewer off of the need for a linear story. Unlike a lot of standard movie fare, "Arsenal" actually makes more sense the more you think about it: the dream-like structure gives the movie a marvelous retrospective clarity.
And, yes, the movie is propaganda, but it is far less didactic than most other examples, not to mention leavened with instances of black humor that give the film a curiously independent, humanistic streak. (There was only one scene that made me wince in light of later Soviet history.) In the end, Dovzhenko seems less interested in winning converts to his cause than in simply giving the viewer a chance to experience what it's like to be in the middle of epochal change. It's also a movie that at times is positively giddy at the possibilities of the medium. A real breath of fresh air, even now.

Product Description
When Paul (Firth), a middle-aged English teacher in Britain who nurses an obsession for the Arsenal soccer team, meets Sarah, a seemingly uptight young woman who is a single-minded professional, he is forced to drastically re-evaluate his life. Sarah loathes the sport, while Paul's entire life is based on it--it is the only place in his life that allows him to feel true joy or pain, as well as a British national identity. Soon, Sarah is pregnant, and although she's growing to enjoy soccer, she worries that Paul cares more for the sport than for the relationship and the impending arrival of fatherhood. Paul is concerned that the relationship is indeed mirroring the team's streak of wins and losses. As Arsenal approaches the 1989 Championship, it has a final chance to end its 18 year losing streak, and Paul and Sarah have one fleeting chance to restore their touchy union. The film is lent an extra spurt of realism in that the 1989 Arsenal upset is considered one of the touchstones of British soccer history.
