I already own his movie "Snatch" and that brings me to tears laughing, this movie is no exception. The way way he draws you into the storyline and the characters reactions are hilarious. Absolutly love this movie.

A triumph of attitude and style.......2007-05-26

Looking back on "Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels," it's not hard to see why Director Guy Ritchie became one of the hottest directors around. It's a rollicking joyride of a film that delivers non-stop action, head-spinning plot twists and plenty of laughs.

The movie centers around four young punks who chip in some money so Eddy (Nick Moran), the master card player of the group, can enter a high-stakes card game with Hatchet Harry (P.H. Moriarity), a local gang boss whose specialties include gambling and porn. Unfortunately for Eddy, he's in way over his head, and ends up owing Harry a cool 500,000 pounds. His penalty if he doesn't come up with the money in a week? Having his fingers cut off one by one by Harry's mammoth enforcer, Barry the Baptist (Lenny McLean).

Eddy and his friends Soap, Tom and Bacon are understandably distraught at this turn of events. As they rack their brains to come up with a plan to scratch together the money, they overhear their neighbors discussing plans to rob a wealthy group of drug dealers. A plan is quickly hatched to ambush the theives and steal the drug money that they stole. And did I mention that a seemingly unrelated pair of antique shotguns manages to work its way into the picture?

Needless to say, when Eddy & Co. put their plan into action, glorious mayhem ensues. The cast, which includes European soccer star Vinnie Jones as Harry's collector Big Chris, is a likeable bunch all around. But the film's real star is director Ritchie, who pulls out all the stops to command our attention, from freeze frames to slo-mo to speed-up and everything in between.

Naysayers call the plot ridiculous and lament the film's lack of substance. Come to think of it, the police do seem conspicuously absent considering all the gunplay, drug dealing and theivery that's going on. And even diehard fans of "Lock" will likely admit that it's ultimately a triumph of attitude & style over substance.

In spite of its shortcomings, though, "Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels" feels blisteringly alive from start to finish, a thrilling rollercoaster of a movie that's well worth the price of admission.

Unique but Great........2007-03-29

This movie has a more advanced story line portrayed through a heavy dialog, with highly developed fun characters that drive the movie. Typical Guy Ritchie film.
Directors Cut is worth the extra money.

I forgot how much I enjoyed this movie. Good characters, good story line and a good mix of humor and drama. If you haven't seen it - see it now.

This movie is awesome. My older sister has it, so everytime I go to visit her I have to watch Herbie. Finally I decided I would get my own DVD of Herbie. It just came today, so I was very excited. The Music video of Lindsay is cool. Lindsay looks really good. This movie is so fun to watch. I recommend it to anyone. It's worth all the money. You will love it.

We've owned this since it first came out & we love it. It's a movie that parents & kids can watch together. It's perfect for older kids who are 'too grown up' (lol!) for cartoons and yet whom you don't want watching movies with cursing & adult content. Great music, we have the soundtrack too.

Lindsay Lohan fans, beware! If you are looking for a film in a "Mean Girls" style, don't go for it. However, if you like Disney's well-known manner of creating family-friendly films, you've got the right title.
"Herbie: Fully Loaded" is a remake of the popular film serial from the '70s about Herbie, a fast VW Beetle with a mind (and attitude!) of its own. However, in the 21st century, he's at the junk yard, too old-fashioned to be driven. There he sees Maggie (Lindsay Lohan), an ex-street racer, who is looking for a cheap vehicle to buy. She buys Herbie, and when she finds out about their common interest, the fun begins!
This film is a candy for kids and adults alike. It's not as sterile as "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" (another Lindsay Lohan-Disney collaboration, and not a very succesful one), but it's not nearly as sassy as "Mean Girls", either! It's a movie about friendship, love... and how a VW beetle can be a regular Cinderella!

Good, but a bit of a let down.......2006-08-01

This is a very funny spoof of not just Naked Gun and Lethal Weapon, but every other movie in the genre. There's so many, I've even noticed a few that I missed the first few times I watched it.

I would have given it 4 stars, but the DVD is a let down for those who have seen the movie in theaters or on TV. Like too many others do when transfering to DVD, many scenes have been cut out. Often, these missing scenes are not missed, but with this movie, all of the parts are good ones and in some places, were essential to the movie making for some confusing lines later on.

Still, I think this is a very funny parody of action movies and is worth the time.

Heh, there's no Loaded Weapon 2.......2006-01-26

I'm really tired of critics trashing this movie, going so far as to say it's National Lampoon's worst. Have you seen what NL has been releasing? A big fan of NL, I rented a few of their recent movies, and the closest I got to laughing was during Gold Diggers, which was only kind of funny, but the best of the latest NL movies.
Anyway, Loaded Weapon 1 (a joke in itself) uses the ZAZ approach (you know, the guys who did Airplane! and The Naked Gun), parodying buddy cop movies, mostly the Lethal Weapons. Emilio Estevez is Colt, a loose cannon who leaves a mini-mart in shambles at the start (the highlight, in my opinion) and is obviously supposed to be Mel Gibson. Samuel L. Jackson is Luger, a by-the-book family man (cough, Danny Glover) who's paired with Colt to nab a drug czar (William Shatner) who is smuggling drugs through Wilderness Girl cookies, which gets Luger's old partner (Whoopi Goldberg) killed. Oh yeah, and Colt falls for Kathy Ireland, a babe who should always leave her hair down. Other Lethal Weapon references include Jon Lovitz (YES!) as the Joe Pesci/Leo Getz character, who appears to be dead many times but keeps showing up, Denis Leary has a cameo as someone like Michael Hunksacker in the first Lethal Weapon, and there's other great references, like Colt finding Luger on the toilet (LW 2), Luger yelling "Cigarette!" instead of gun like in LW 1, Colt having a dead dog instead of a wife, and so on.
This movie really is underappreciated. It mocks all the cop movies that are getting old with ease, and even though it's not up to par with Naked Gun or the other ZAZ tries (well, actually, "Mafia" and "Scary Movie 3" may conflict with that), it does what National Lampoon used to do: make us laugh.

If you like this type of comedy where jokes are as visual as they are vocal (play on words, taking things litterally, and so on), then this is for you.
There aren't many movies like this nowadays...
I recommend you watch it before sleeping... that's a much better way to end your day (and start your night) than watching news about tragedies, war and so on... Enjoy!

Anime At It's Best, Just Got Better.......2006-05-19

Everyone knows how great Gungrave is, but the expensive price tag might keep you away from purchasing this great show. That's all in the past now, with the release of this collection. Let me just say, if you ever wanted to own this outstanding series, now's the time. This is an excellent series, in a fantastic packaging, at a very reasonable price. The moment I saw this at a local Best Buy, I knew I had to buy it. I had wathced the show a few times, and only the high price kept me away.

A better box set for a great price! Highly recommended!.......2006-05-01

The first time I reviewed Gungrave it was for the series as a whole, not for the complete box set. I saw that a newer cheaper box set was coming out, so I waited. I bought this Fully Loaded Collector's set, and while it's not as fully loaded as I'd like it to be, it certainly is a better buy than the previous one.

The pros:

1. The DVD's come in slimline cases packed inside a very handsome box that holds all of them. The slimmer cases take up significantly less room on your DVD shelf than the other box set.

2. The option of 5.1 surround sound.

3. It's $45 cheaper than the other box set.

The cons:

1. While it is nice that the slimline cases make for more space on your DVD shelves, it would also have been nice to have more episodes per DVD. I sure wish companies that make American DVD's of anime would stop putting so few episodes on each disc (I'm talking to you ADV!), and pack more on there to save us money. I can't see how anyone really cares about cool front covers or how many different interactive menus can be used for each DVD.

2. No extras. Sure, you get character sketches and ads for other anime, whoop-dee-freakin'-do. What about interviews with the writers, artists, director, or voice actors? Companies like Geneon and ADV sure could take a lesson or three from the folks at Criterion who actually strive to make a DVD that gives you more bang for your buck.

Overall, the pro's outweigh the cons. If you really want to own this whole series and also save money and shelf space, I highly recommend you buy this set instead of the other one.

Not the best Pride card, but worth a look.......2006-12-07

Maybe it was because Final Conflict 2005 was so extraordinarily good, but Fully Loaded didn't live up to my expectations. I don't regret purchasing it, but it's not a classic.

Here's a fight by fight without major spoilers.

Mirko CroCop vs. Josh Barnett 8/10

The rematch to a fight that ended with a freak shoulder injury. Mirko is coming off a grueling (but not too damaging) fight at Final Conflict, but appears to have no ill affects from that fight. Likewise, Barnett is ready to go and doesn't show any ring rust. Crocop's takedown defense might be the best in the world (including any wrestlers). However, Barnett came to fight and shows he isn't just a 1-trick pony like Mark Coleman. It's a great fight, and I think we'll see more of both of these guys.

Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Ken Shamrock 0/10
This fight ends due to a premature stoppage. I know that's kind of a spoiler, but you should know that before you pay money for this DVD. What's even more disappointing perhaps is the uncomitting style that Shamrock displays before the fight was stopped. It's "classic" boring Shamrock. It kind of looked like Shamrock/Severn 2. Lots of dancing, almost no fighting, and then a quick stoppage.

Makoto Takimoto vs. Dong Sik Yoon 7/10

Two lighter fighters who fight with a style that would be more common at a Bushido event. Still, they are both pretty well-rounded and there is some good groundwork and surprising standup.

Sergei Kharitonov vs. Fabricio Werdum 6/10

This fight had me so excited in anticipation. Kharitonov is probably ranked 4th in the Pride heavyweight division, and has shown good submission wins, and some punishing knockouts (Ninja Rua, Pedro Rizzo, etc). Werdum is a world champion bjj player who has shown in his short career that he has made a good transition to MMA. He has a couple of really impressive submission wins. The winner of this fight could set himself up for a title shot in the near future. Unfortunately, each fighter respects the strength of the other too much (Kharitonov's striking and Werdum's groundwork). There isn't as much engaging of action, or all-out drama that were in previous fights from these two guys. There is a winner, but I don't think the winner is ready for a title shot just yet.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Hirotaka Yokoi 9/10

Rampage is an exciting fighter whose trademark slams have won him many fights. He has also had a couple of brutal losses at the hands of Vanderlei Silva and Shogun Rua, and a couple of other lackluster performances. Before this fight, he is at a crossroads. Yokoi is also at a crossroads, having lost a few in a row since going toe-to-toe with Nogueira for a round before being submitted in the 2004 heavyweight tournament. Both guys need a win, and after a competitive start, one of them emerges as a fighter with a bright future in Pride.

James Thompson vs. Alexandru Lungu 7/10
James Thomposon is HUGE. Not like that Brazillian basketball player, but huge like Hercules. He's not the slickest fighter in the world, but if you like to watch fighters who look like video game heroes, then you'll like this fight. Lungu is also huge, a world-class wrestler with a gigantic girth. There's no secret these guys aren't going to be able to go the distance and it's a matter of time till one of them gets tagged solid...

Murilo "Ninja" Rua vs. Murad Chunkaiev 8/10
Ninja is in need of a win. After being highly touted early in his career, a failed attempt at the 2004 heavyweight tournament and the emergence of his brother Shogun as the class of the middleweight division have left Ninja in no-man's land. This fight is the best he's looked in a long time.

Wagner da Conceicao Martins vs. Henry "Sentoryu" Miller 1/10

Another early stoppage. A knee lands, the ref stops it, and that's about it. In truth, a couple more knees might have landed if the fight continued, but it was too early of a stoppage for this level of fighting.

All in all, it's a little sub-par for a Pride card. If you don't buy every event, save your money and make sure you have critical countdown 2005 and final conflict 2005.

Not that great, but Pride still delivers........2006-11-30

This event has an equal amount of great fights and bad decisions. First off, the great fights include the returns of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Murilo "Ninja" Rua, plus the great battle between Mirko "Cro Cop" and Josh Barnett. There are a few controversial stoppages like Sakuraba/Shamrock and Zuluzinho/Sentoryu. The other fights can only be called decent, if anything else.

I have seen way better Pride events and I would recommend Critical Countdown 2005 or Final Conflict 2005. But it is still decent to watch.

An interesting video..........2006-11-20

In which you get to see Zuluhino vs Henry Miller with a strange finish, Sakaraba vs Ken Shamrock with a controversial finish, Mirko vs Josh in a good fight, Yokoi vs Rampage where Rampage seems to be back to normal, Verdum vs Kharitonov in an interesting fight, and other good matches.

It's not the best Pride show I've seen, but it isn't horrible, save for the Zuluhino match.

Very enjoyable.......2003-02-23

Every time I watch this movie I can sit there and enjoy it like it was the first. Although some of the information -such as the small part about the next Tomb Raider game for Playstation2- is now older and you can find more info about it, it is still fun to watch, expecially if you know nothing about it. Someone who is new to the Tomb Raider series can gain some background knowlege to the game, and some of the current players can possibly learn something they didn't.
There is even a little comedy in it (I don't think it was suppose to be funny, but I thought it was) when this Tomb Raider fan dresses up as Lara and walks around town (and yes, it is a girl.)
Anyway, I give it 5 stars because it's something that I can watch more than once without it becoming stale.

Lara Croft-super lady-.......2002-10-13

Is it that Loaded?.......2002-07-11

If you've not came here by chance, then there's no way you don't know who is Lara Croft and what's Tomb Raider. It would be hard that you don't know what is Tomb Raider and that you at least know that there are more than one Tomb Raider game.

If you know all this, then I doubt that this documentary will add a lot. First of all, we must clear out that this documentary was made for an English TV station and then it was released on DVD. In other words, it wasn't made to be an exclusive DVD documentary yet it was made just for the TV.

The documentary is carried in 50 minutes, which are divided into 12 chapters. Personally, I liked two or three, and I found no reason why they made the others.

This DVD focuses and TRIES to prove that Lara Croft is real. The first chapter is called 'Who Is Lara Croft?' and the last one is called 'Leaving Lara'. It starts by taking you to the school in which she's learned and tries through the whole documentary to prove she's alive.

Focusing on weird subjects, like the OBSESSION part which cycles you with lots of fans who nearly left their lives for the sake of Lara, I don't actually see why this is important. Also, focusing on a weird woman who has a collection of dresses like those Lara wears and she actually wear them in public, are these the right people? Perhaps I'm the one who's not normal.

Another man subject the DVD focuses on is her 'Sex Appeal'. It devotes a full chapter for that and then they return again for a similar subject in Chapter 8 'Uncensored' where they throw on you lots of manipulated nude pictures of Lara Croft.

It's really annoying, it's annoying that through the whole 50 minutes they didn't talk about anything except three subjects; Lara is REAL, Lara is SEXY and FANS are MAD of Lara (truly mad).

I don't know, but if you're expecting a documentary about the game, this isn't it. This is exactly as the name says 'a documentary about LARA' and as the picture shows 'Some Sex approach'. I was expecting more refering to the game, which is actually what Lara Croft is. I liked the game very much, but I never thought of Lara more than a character inside the game, not a REAL character as they were trying to convince me..

Be aware there is 'animated' nudity.......2002-05-26

I purchased this DVD for my 11 year old son. We have played all of the games together and really enjoy them , and are looking forward to Tomb 6. However, there was no mention in any of the reviews of the nudity. What does that have to do with the game, or the creation of Lara Croft? This DVD could have received 4 or maybe even 5 stars if that segment was left out. I expected Lara's 'size' to be mentioned, NOT pictured. A mention of this on the box or even here would have prepared us, or maybe I wouldn't even have bought it.

Perhaps the most-recognized computer game character on the planet is finally recognized with a DVD which covers almost everything from her creation to the methods of her destruction to gamers' obsession to Lara lookalikes. At about forty-five minutes long, there is an ample amount of eye candy along with plenty of interesting information.

However, this DVD is slightly dated, as there is absolutely NO information on the Tomb Raider film released Summer 2001; the film only gets a brief mention at the beginning of the main program. Another disappointment is that there are no bonus items on this DVD: no new images of Lara Croft, no official biography, etc. This is why I can only give a "4" rating to this otherwise excellent and low-price DVD.

The movie and its cast are oddly beautiful. The music is hauting also, I wish they sold a sountrack.

Loaded - Catherine McCormack was the only redeeming quality........2000-01-11

This bizzare tale of the filming of a horror movie left me feeling empty and dissapointed. The plot had many chances to thicken, but it never does. The actors do as best they can, but the script is poorly written. Many details begin to come up, but they are left in midair with no completion. This movie had many holes, but many attractive and talented actors in it.

Anna Campion's first feature film is okay.......1999-05-15

Loaded is an average, run of the mill first film. While the writing is so-so, Anna's direction shows she has some talent. As with most freshman films, it's not quite polished but it does indicate Anna has potential as a filmmaker. What makes this film enjoyable are the performances by Thandie Newton and Catherine McCormack. These two Brits demonstrate their acting talent and really make the film worth watching. I gave this film four stars for the acting -- that's what carried Loaded.

As Ryo learns more about her late father, she regains her belief in his integrity, which strengthens her commitment to baseball. Awesome, the kids will love it!.......2002-09-01

After Ryo feels better from that little hospital thing, she learns a bit more about her dad. She's proud, as well as thinking she's also finally made friends with Izumi. That all breaks down as Hiroki's birthday comes along. Izumi is angry with Ryo again, and now Ryo has to put up with that for four days in the mountains.

There's also some bonds with the secondary characters. I think that makes this DVD even more special, because the story isn't ONLY focusing on Ryo, Izumi, and Hiroki. It would be a complete drag if all they did with the secondary characters was have them play baseball and join the team... *yawn*.

I've noticed every DVD of this series has it's own theme of animation... Ryo has the biggest eyes I've ever seen in anime, which is kind of funny, as well as it really freaks me out. Anyways, that's beside the point.

The reason why I say "Four stars" is because it's accurate and all, but the time and extras are low. They should put in more extras, kind of like Steel Angel Kurumi. The last episode was about 14 minutes last time I checked. They could have put more effort into the whole Yuki thing, but not so much as to spoil the next episode, "You're Not Alone, Yuki!". Either that or the Seira and Coach Kido thing. But then again, it wouldn't really fit, would it? Haha!

It's Funny, Accurate, and has a wonderful Heart Taking story line. It even inspires other girls to play baseball. (Hey, it did it to me, lol!) The kids will love it. It has little swear words, and i think youngsters can handle animated beer. I see no reason why the whole bath scene should be a problem either (No, you don't see fifteen year old bare breasts). It's actually normal in Japan.

I have extreme high hopes for Grand Slam. It's awesome so far, great for kids and adults. So why ruin the last DVD? No excuse is excepted. I know it'll be great, and the day the story ends will be devestating (sp?). Well, for someone who has a huge obsession for it like me at least! ^_^ There. Enough Said.
