Fans of Cartoon Network's Aqua Teen Hunger Force series (part of the cable channel's Adult Swim programming) know what they're in for with this feature-length extension of the nearly-indescribable animated show. Set in a rundown, Jersey suburb, Aqua Teen concerns the misadventures of three human-size characters who happen to be fast food refuse: the crude Master Shake, a discarded milkshake in a cup similar to those from McDonalds; skeptical Frylock, a flying, cardboard box of french fries; and the personable Meatwad, a piece of expired, red beef of unknown origin. Together, they go in search of a missing piece of an exercise machine that happens to be more than an exercise machine, placing them on a collision course with the likes of Oglethorpe and Emory, a pair of jagged, ridiculous creatures from the future who travel with a robot companion claiming to be the Ghost of Christmas Past. They also encounter Dr. Weird, a mad scientist given to disguises and who seeks revenge against the Hunger Force; McPee Pants, a rapping spider who wears a shower cap and diaper; and the hilarious Ignignokt and Err, two-dimensional villains from the ancient days of pokey, Atari video games. Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro, series creators and writers-directors on Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters, are wildly entertaining class clowns, but they expect the rest of us to follow them into their surreal world of postmodern animated nuttiness. The rewards, however, are plentiful. --Tom Keogh

Supersized Giant Jazzercising Robots.......2007-09-17
If you're a fan of Aqua Teen Hunger Force (ATHF), you have very low expectations of the show. ATHF involves three symbols of fast food: the insane Master Shake (Dana Snyder), the lovably moronic Meatwad (Dave Willis), and the super-intelligent Frylock (Carey Means). They are exactly what they sound like: walking (sometimes floating), talking shakes, piles of meat, and boxes of fries. This is not an ironic fact lost on the producers; at various times, other people who encounter the Hunger Force (like Carl, the shut-in voiced by Dennis Franz) comment on the strangeness of these bizarre alien beings who happen to act like teenagers.
There are other beings who happen to harass our protagonists, including spiky aliens, aliens that look like they came from an Atari 2600 video game, and aliens that might be time traveling robot turkeys. But that's largely irrelevant, because ATHF isn't so much a universe as it is performance art, with the topic of the night playing out to its inevitable conclusion. In the vein of much British humor, plotlines and continuity are irrelevant. Characters argue with each other, fight with each other, and even kill each other. Sometimes, Frylock gets tired of his idiot roommates and just leaves. Sometimes, Master Shake's insanely far-fetched plans destroy the world. And sometimes, Meatwad kills Master Shake.
ATHF, unburdened by any real anchors to reality, is thus free to explore whatever, whenever, and wherever, the plot meandering to some illogical conclusion, often played for laughs but sometimes just to torture a particular character to death. 15 minutes of this is hilarious, and it's pretty obvious that ATHF is meant to be watched by college kids with short attention spans. And adults like me who have 15 minutes before going to work.
So why make a movie? Or to be more precise, why make a movie titled Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters?
The dodge is that it reveals the origins of the ATHF, but that's silly. For one, ATHF's comedic value is precisely in the complete and utter lack of explanation as to why fast food is living in New Jersey. For another, ATHF is about conflict between various characters for no good reason other than to dance for our entertainment. And that's precisely what the movie does, although it wears a little thin after the prerequisite 15 minutes normally allocated to the television show.
Explaining the plot of the movie is pointless, because it's not meant to be explained. It involves a talking watermelon, a mad scientist, Bruce Campbell voicing a chicken McNugget (of course), Space Ghost, the reincarnated soul of MC Pee Pants, the CIA, jazzercising giant robots that poop little jazzercising robots, and Abraham Lincoln's time travel shenanigans. Aren't you sorry you asked?
Your perception of all this is really dependent on your perception of the show. It won't turn you into a fan. In fact, the entire intro is a joke on those "let's go out to the movies" dancing food characters, with various angry incarnations of movie junk food screaming to thrash metal, "You came here. Watch it. Don't like it? Walk out."
I didn't walk out. If you're a fan of ATHF, you won't either.
nooo.......2007-09-15
I was watching this with my brother and we had no idea what the hell was going on after around 10 minutes of the movie and turned it off, it was horrible. The tv show is great but the movie sucks. Don't waste your time with this.
Finally...more than a 12 min edition of AQHF!! .......2007-09-14
Excellent movie!! Explains the origin of the Aqua Teen's. Star's every character that's been in the show. Is there going to be another??? Can't wait!!
Laugh your head off.......2007-09-14
This movie is so funny! I think aque teen is a series that you either love or you hate and we love it. We laughed continously throughout the movie. If you love the television series then you will love this movie.
Great... but only if your a hardcore fan.......2007-09-14
I've waited for an ATHF movie for... well, since i first saw the show. After finally watching it I've very satisfied. But, there are so many jokes and allusions that would not make sense unless you've seen most of the television episodes. Almost every character from the show is featured in some way, so you kinda need to know their back story.

Carroll Ballard's 1983 adaptation of Farley Mowat's autobiographical novel turns his life-changing experience studying the wolves in Canada's inhospitable North into a moving drama of one man's courage and discovery of nature's majesty. Charles Martin Smith plays green biologist Tyler, sent by the Canadian government to "prove" that the wolves are depleting the caribou herds, but what he finds is a natural world in perfect harmony where he becomes a tolerated outsider. Dumped unprepared in the wilds by a hard drinking bush pilot (Brian Dennehy), Tyler learns survival skills from the aged Eskimo who saves his life and the rules of coexistence from a neighboring wolf (which results in a literal pissing contest as man and beast mark their respective territories). Tyler's journey culminates in the majestic run with the wolf pack, an exhilarating sequence where for an instant he becomes one with natural environment of the wilds. For all its beauty, however, Tyler's experience becomes a bittersweet lesson as the encroachment of hunters, tourism, and the social landscape threaten the natural order. As in his previous film, the delicate and lovely The Black Stallion, Ballard's astounding visual treatment captures the awesome natural beauty of the Canadian wilderness with power and poignancy. Kevin Costner's Oscar-winning Dances with Wolves explores many of the themes presented in this film, but without the resonance or beauty of Ballard's unsung masterpiece. --Sean Axmaker
Description
Filmed amid spectacular wilderness vistas, NEVER CRY WOLF reveals a world of hypnotic beauty and breathtaking cinematic imagery. An unforgettable adventure begins as Tyler, a young inexperienced biologist, is deposited alone onto the desolate Arctic terrain. Once settled, he struggles to endure the forces of nature as he documents the mysterious habits of the wolves he has been sent to study. An odyssey of self-discovery told through captivating drama, NEVER CRY WOLF is a haunting, lyrical film from the director of THE BLACK STALLION.

Never Cry Wolf.......2007-09-16
One of my Favorites. Great scenery, funny, sad, real. Finally a movie to show the family life of wolves and how more family life they are then people.
Crockett Critique.......2007-09-05
Though a rough adaptation of Farley Mowat's superb 1963 story, this Disney classic puts into proper perspective the wolf-caribou-human relationship which unfolds to this day. It serves as a reminder - sometimes humourously - of how far our species has placed itself apart from the animal kingdom, and the resulting environmental degradation which often occurs. If only for the awe-inspiring scenery and the acting of the main characters - Rosie the Bushpilot (Brian Dennehy) especially - this movie is both entertaining & educational.
Bring the world of the wolves to your home........2007-08-24
This movie shows the magic of nature with a small cast and amazing country. My family has worn out the VCR copy of this movie and have now got the DVD version. It is a great family entertainment that can be watched time and again. The production is also of high standard and helps make this first rate viewing.
Never Cry Wolf.......2007-07-09
Under-rated family adventure film (best for older kids) is not only stunning to look at, with Ballard's superb on-location photography, but delivers a cautionary tale about the importance of protecting delicate ecosystems and fading species against encroaching civilization, vividly represented by Dennehy's group hunting trip later in the film. The talented and appealing Smith carries this special movie along, supported by some truly majestic-looking wolves. In short, "Never" will always be worth the trip.
Oldie but goodie.......2007-06-12
I'm a big fan of Charlie Martin Smith, and somehow I had overlooked this movie. Could only find it on Amazon, of course. I enjoyed the movie very much, and enjoyed the ease of finding it and buying it on Amazon.

Fun but a little creepy.......2007-06-04
I was led to this DVD by a book (How Not to Look Fat), which recommended viewing the first season for tips on walking the runway. After reading the DVD reviews here, I was intrigued enough to give it a try.
I enjoyed cycle 1, but I couldn't help feeling a little queasy by the vitriol spewed by some of the competitors in that little red room and elsewhere. Didn't these women remember they were being taped 24 hours a day? I realize the show was edited for mass appeal, but most of those people were not shown in their best light, so it was hard to care who won in the end. And the judges -- Tara was wonderful, but one judge made me feel like I needed a very hot and soapy bath after every episode. In all, this series was fun (loved when they went to Paris), and I am sorry you can't rent or buy the other seasons.
I was happy for the winner; I'd been rooting for her from the start, but I wonder if her career wasn't as stellar as had been promised. I don't recall seeing her in any fashion magazines in subsequent years.
One of the better reality shows.......2007-05-27
America's Next Top Model is a successful reality TV show because the bulk of the show has the contestants doing different things, and what they do is interesting. Creator and host Tyra Banks is out to prove to the world that modeling isn't just about smiling and looking pretty. She has the girls compete in every possible arena related to modeling - which includes weekly photo shoots, acting, public speaking and publicity appearances, and traversing non English speaking cities alone with nothing more than a map and a dictionary. The show is a crash course in modeling 101, and each week one model fails to pass. Voting is based on competitive challenges and a panel of judges who evaluate the girl's best photo of the week. The weekly photo shoots appear loosely based on past photos taken of Tyra. She relishes making the girls "suffer" the life of a model by freezing on the top of a skyscraper in bikinis in the winter, and suffering with a smile while posing with snakes and other creepy critters. The show gets particularly interesting when the final five contestants are flown to Paris to prove they can make it as European models. The insight into the modeling business is quite appealing as the girls audition with real Parisian clients (called "go-sees") and the final two participate in a real life runway show.
It is entertaining to watch a group of average looking girls transform on film, through training and lots of makeup, into real models. The characters in cycle 1 are so diverse that the interpersonal segments- "life in the house"- are fairly interesting. The final five breaks down into the bible belt vs. Adrian and Elise. Adrian speaks as if she is on heroin, and Elise makes the show because she's actually very intelligent. Elise's educated ranting on the painfully stupid other girls is very entertaining (although despite being smart enough to make it into Med school, she is obviously anorexic). Particularly interesting is the episode when the bible thumping model wanna-be's refuse to pose nude. Cycle 1, lacking the budget, sets, and pizzazz of future cycles of the show, is perhaps the best of all of them. Tyra has yet to go over the top with her challenges (like making the girls pose in drag or as murder victims), and the cast was diverse enough to be appealing to more than 14 year olds. [...]. If you like reality TV, America's Next Top Model Cycle 1 will be a pleasant diversion.
Excellent.......2007-05-19
Very interesting...and entertaining. The bikini wax session was a little much...and watching them lying there nude while having their vagina painfully waxed was a little over the top. I don't think the show really cared about the models...they were just trying to make money. The models seemed like nice people and the show was interesting.
ok.......2007-02-25
I channel surf a lot and sometimes i watch the rerun marathons on MTV. What i can't stand is Miss J. So freakin' gay. This guy/girl dresses like a woman with bands in his hair. When he's not on America's Next Top Model he's(or she) is on the E Channel for the fashion police. He criticizes all these female and male celebrities about how bad they dress and he dresses 100 times worse than the celebrities. I'm gay and out of the closet but this Miss J gives gay men a very bad name. Not all gay men are girly or queeny. And seeing Miss J dress like a woman on every show is pathetic. Every time i see him on the show i just want to punch his face in. Bring back Janice Dickenson. Oh yeah. She was too good for the show and left. Thank God! Who wants to sit next to Miss J.
antm.......2006-10-15
This is the only season worth watching. The rest of the seasons are so horribly put together that you want to watch this over and over.

Another great biblical film which is underrated in my view.......2007-09-07
Fantastic! A great story with great attractive actors performing with great belivability! This is one of the best biblical films out there, and a film guaranteed not to disappoint.
Enjoy!
Be Careful when Samson Runs Free & More Careful yet when He is in Chains! .......2007-07-06
The '50 was the "Sword & Sandal Movies" decade. Uncountable films of the genre were released. The most notable: "The Ten Commandments" (1956) and "The Robe" (1958). Also in a very good supporting second line "The Egyptian" (1954), "Land of Pharaohs" (1955) and "Helen of Troy" (1956).
"Samson & Delilah" (1949) was nearer to the first group than the second.
A renowned specialist as Cecil B. DeMille was summoned to direct this movie.
He had a solid and successful experience in the genre, from first "Ten Commandments" (1923) version (he was responsible also for 1956's version) thru "The King of Kings" (1927) till "Cleopatra" (1934) and "The Crusades" (1935), he directed one blockbuster after other.
The script is based on the Biblical tale of Samson. This Hercules-like hero appeared among the Jews when they were oppressed by the Philistines.
The film depicts him as a rather naïve peasant in love with a Philistine girl. In order to gain her hand he kill barehanded a lion and won the prize.
Unfortunately for everyone a conjunction of mishap transform his wedding day in a bloody tragedy.
Delilah, his would-be sister-in-law swears revenge. She will not stop until poor Samson is rendered powerless and delivered into his enemies' hands.
The movie is outstanding in several categories: Costumes and Set Decoration both won the Oscar; Cinematography, Special Effects and Music Scoring were nominated. Remember that in those days the Oscar Award was an undisputed Major Award.
As for the performing, Victor Mature had the perfect physique-du-role and he will profit from it in following years starring and co-starring "The Robe" (1953) and "Demetrius & the Gladiators" (1954) amongst other films.
Hedy Lamarr was a gorgeous vamp as Delilah and played the seducer's role perfectly.
For me there are two unforgettable scenes: one Samson defeating an entire Philistine army armed only with an ass' jaw bone; the other the Hero smashing the temple.
It is a very good Ancient History related film.
Reviewed by Max Yofre.
Lamarr's beauty took audience's breath away..........2007-01-13
Hedy Lamarr took the title role of Delilah and made it her own... She was full and sparkling as the Philistine temptress, the central figure of Samson's last love story, dark and troubled when she took advantage of Samson's confidence to betray him to his enemies, repent and full of love when she sees him blinded and disgraced... Her name has since become synonymous with a voluptuous treacherous woman...
Victor Mature was a mighty, troubled Samson, beset by conflicting emotions, totally dominated by a pagan woman... He teases with her, perhaps showing some smarts here for a change... He falls victim to his enemies through the love of Delilah, a sophisticated beauty with innate elegance, who beguiles him into revealing the secret of his strength... His performance was always up to the standard of Lamarr... Together, they acted with wonderful passion and were as convincing dramatically as long-suffering Hebrews as they were Philistines drunk with victory...
George Sanders, whose dignified presence was a perfect match for the Saran of Gaza, admires Samson for his strength, and envies him for the love of his people... He persuades Delilah to find out what is the source of Samson's strength so they can destroy him...
"Samson and Delilah' is a film of emotion, of love, and action... It is at once a wonderful, and rich historical look at an ancient era, an excuse for beautiful and passionate music, and a thrilling climax hardly rivaled in its size and lavishness... The film is wonderful to look at, and the music is terrific...
Look for Russ Tamblyn playing the little shepherd Saul...
Well worth owning........2006-10-22
In searching for this movie I found there are two DVD products available along with a VHS version. There were complaints about the video/audio quality on the other DVD and VHS versions, so I bought this one. This DVD is also produced in China like the other version, but I have no complaints about the video or audio quality. According to the box: "For this new edition a 35mm interpositive was made from the original 3-strip Technicolor nitrate negative, and digitally transfered. The soundtrack has been transfered from the 35mm optical positive protection master.".
My only complaint is that it is not in wide screen format.
Because it is a product of China the subtitles are in Chinese and it doesn't have the usual top menu system. You pop the DVD in and the movie begins playing. There are no special features except at the end of the movie you can watch the theatrical trailers for two other DeMille classics.
I won't waste time reviewing the plot or actor's performances - there are already some great reviews containing that information on the other versions available here, which I would only be duplicating.
I recommend you read the reviews of the other DVD and VHS version, then play it safe and buy THIS one because of the poor quality reports on the others.

Veggie Tales are a Great Buy for ANYONE. Although we have no children at home (grown and on their own) and no grandchildren... (yet)... we have every single Veggie Tale movie! They are entertaining, witty, light and a perfect quick watch before retiring after a long day! Always a great and thought provoking message to end your day with. By the way, KIDS LOVE them TOO! Even though some of the humor is over their heads, but we old folks can relate!
Minnesota Cuke - Saturday morning fun with Sunday morning message.......2006-09-25
My nieces (6 and 4 years old) both love this movie. I love the fact that they are watching a DVD with a positive message. I may have overlooked it in the decription but just in case it isn't there - CHARLIE DANIELS (The Devil went down to Georgia) does the soundtrack. I am a huge Charlie Daniels fan so I may have to buy another copy for myself. I will definitely be buying many more "Veggie Tales" DVDs for my nieces.
Fool me twice..........2006-04-16
It looks like alot of people here liked Cuke, and I'm glad they did. After a bunch of good reviews I bought it. I think I'll give it to Goodwill.
As many here have pointed out, Cuke is at least better than Sumo (Yuck). But it's nowhere near as fun as Lyle, Pickle, Josh, Little Joe, etc. It's terribly predictable, not very engaging, the humor is contrived, and once again there aren't even any songs my kids can sing along with in the car. (Are my young daughters supposed to be impressed with that Pizza song? They sure like alot of the Veggie songs that came out five or ten years ago!) On the plus side, the graphics are flawless.
If I read my news right, Mike and Phil sold to a bigger company that decided the Veggies need "less God." It shows. A young company that was in it for the fun and lessons has turned over the reigns to an outfit that's in it for the money. (This isn't one of those stupid "Big corporations are evil" rants. It's just that creative control of the Veggies is obviously going in a different direction. How astoundingly sad.) That's explains why Cuke could have been cranked out by any cartoon studio in the country that thinks kids will watch any fool thing you put in front of them as long as it's animated. Well, my kids have better taste than that.

Description
Fun, excitement and the whale that captured the world's imagination add up to big family entertainment. A lonely boy understands the plaintive cries of the orca confined to an aquatic park's too-small tank and does something about it in Free Willy (Disc 1/Side A). Watch and understand why "audiences have gone wild for Willy" (Richard Corliss, Time). The boy rejoins Willy in his new ocean home and together they confront a burning oil spill in Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home (Disc 1/Side B), "the ideal family movie" (Caryn James, The New York Times). And Free Willy 3: The Rescue (Disc 2) - "the best of the Free Willy pictures" (Siskel & Ebert) - adds a grittier edge with a story about an illegal whaling operation. Don't miss 3 whales of a tale!

Description
When the plane carrying Charlie Halliday, a maverick bush pilot and a sick, young, Inuit woman, Kanaalaq, crashes hundreds of miles from civilization, they are at the mercy of nature's worst. While search parties try to find the downed plane Charlie decides to trek over land, promising the woman that he will return with help. Despite her weakened condition, she follows Charlie and nurses him back to health when insects, cold and starvation threaten to kill him shortly after he leaves. Kanaalaq teaches him the skills he will need to survive and he comes to respect her wisdom and love her valiant spirit as they each set out into the wilderness. Each will find a startling and solitary destiny in the beautiful and stark tundra. An adventure story that will move and inspire you as it touches your heart.

Thanks to Spiritual Cinema Circle.......2007-08-30
What a powerful film this is.
This film is featured in Spiritual Cinema Circle August 2007. What a simple way to access many awesome films by being a part of SCC family.
Many wonderful independent films were not discovered by us because they are not massively promoted.
Thanks to SCC, I have seen many great films for the past several months. This film makes me rethink to keep my subscription active with SCC.
Solid but not stellar production; exceptional DVD .......2007-06-12
Quick plot review: arrogant Euro-Canadian pilot learns survival and life skills from ailing but industrious Inuit woman when they are stranded on the tundra.
The Snow Walker starts out a bit shakily, with several actors including Barry Pepper awkwardly delivering their lines. I didn't buy Pepper's portrayal of the cocksure bush pilot with the anger management problem; several of his emotional blow-ups seemed faintly ridiculous and self-consciously "acted." But Pepper improves dramatically as his character softens and matures in response to the ministrations of Kanaalaq (solidly played by lively newcomer Annabella Piuggatuk). Thankfully, there is no disturbingly neo-colonialist Captain John Smith-Pocahontas love match to distract from the power of the fraternal relationship that does spring up between this Euro-Canadian man and Inuit woman (fraternal relationships in general are too often given short shrift in movies). The miming-charades style of communication between these two was sometimes rendered puzzling when Kanaalaq would later jump in with the English translation she knew along.
The biggest miss-steps in my opinion were the contrived girlfriend ("Estelle") storyline--again, as though the writers felt the audience needs that romantic connection to feel grief over the situation--and the related "search and rescue" drama of the gung-ho young searcher and his caustic co-pilot. James Cromwell was sadly wasted in a very minor role; much as I hate to say it, they could have done away with his part altogether. Also, it's important to keep in mind that this movie (and its source material by Farley Mowat) does nothing to remedy the unfortunately common film convention of the European (often, but not always male) aided in survival and general "life skills" by willing Native...
***SEMI-SPOILER
...who becomes means of European's redemption before meeting an untimely/tragic end.
*****SEMI-SPOILER OVER***
But these are minor quibbles in a movie with a simple but time-tested and effective "survival" storyline (come on, we're always riveted by those), the well-filmed and stark beauty of the tundra, and the Mychael Danna score (not among his best, but still evocative). I am giving this an extra star because the DVD has the best Extra/Bonus features I have ever seen on an independent movie of this low profile and limited distribution. There are interviews with several key players including the screenwriters, director, crew members, actors, and composer; plus a fully produced "Making of" documentary that is at least 30 minutes long, has its own alternative-rock soundtrack, and takes us through the entire process, from the casting of then-unknown Piugattuk at a local teen dance, to the crew's run-ins with polar bears while filming on the tundra.
When Heaven Freezes Over.......2007-01-12
I live in the arctic - it can be the most beautiful, frightening part of the planet. My family can't figure out why I moved here from the east coast, so for Christmas I bought everyone a copy of this film.
The movie is stark, beautiful, and very human. It highlights the arctic and the people who have lived here for centuries and their relationship with this wild, hungry landscape. It tells tells the story of a "cocky" white pilot who crashes his float plane into an uncharted arctic lake. Unwillingly he has to rely on a young native woman sick with TB to nurse him back to health and share her survival skills.
In addition, the DVD offers some great interviews with the stars and Charles Martin Smith as well as Farley Mowat. Extraodinary.
The Snow Walker - an amazing tale starring Barry Pepper.......2007-01-04
Barry Pepper stars as Charlie Halliday in this film adoption of the Farley Mowat book "Walk well, my brother". Halliday is a rogue and somewhat cocky pilot who one day takes a routine trip that ends up taking on a whole new meaning. Eventually giving in and taking in a sick Inuit woman, they suddenly crash land on their return trip back to the airport. There is just a minor problem: They crash in about a million miles of open, rocky tundra. Okay it's not a million, but when its cold and you are on foot, even 20 miles can be a killer.
Quickly deciding to leave the woman and go for help, Halliday takes off on a 200-mile journey towards the next closest town. After five days, he is beaten down both physically and mentally as nature's table of tundra punishes him on an hourly basis. Cold winds, deep mud and horrendous swarms of mosquitoes are just some of the things Charlie endures in these first few days.
The movie isn't all about "survival" though. The very girl he left back at the plane rescues Charlie, and it's from this point out that the heart of the movie takes full shape. Learning her customs, language, skills of survival and even a little spirituality, the two begin a journey together that you only hope minute after minute, mile after mile, concludes with a happy ending.
Annabella Piugattuk plays the part of Kanaalaq, the Inuit girl who sometimes does not understand Charlie as he retells tales of his WWII bomber days, and other experiences in the city. Many themes are brought out in the movie, and an important scene early on is when Charlie is in a bar (before making the plane trip) and telling an Inuit man "you are not my brother". The saying will come back later to have a full effect in terms of ironic meaning for Charlie. Barry Pepper is superb and overall the movie has an excellent pace that really makes you feel like you are there. A lot of understanding and human spirit comes to mind as I experienced seeing this movie for the first time. My review does not do it justice, so I will simply say it is a "must see".
Simple, Moving and Good.......2006-12-07
Don't want to give too much away but take the time to watch this film either on cable or get the DVD. Totally worth it if you enjoy simple, but powerful and moving stories. Not too artsy or cheesy but really pulls at your heartstrings- even the most macho of guys will shed a tear.
Enjoy!

Amazon.com essential video
Director John Waters broke new boundaries of bad taste with this hilariously trashy tale of suburban misadventure. His favorite leading lady, transvestite Divine, plays Francine Fishpaw, a dissatisfied suburban housefrau who longs for a little romance in her life because her husband and children drive her crazy. Salvation arrives in the form of Tod Tomorrow (Tab Hunter), a drive-in owner who sweeps Francine off her feet (a mean task, given Divine's girth). But he's not all he's cracked up to be. Filmed in the miracle of Odorama, video viewers now have to imagine the scents (actually, odors) that came on the Odorama scratch-and-sniff card during the film's theatrical release. It won't be too hard. --Marshall Fine

Polyster Review.......2007-07-30
Funny movie, a little wayout! Just wanted to buy it because Tab Hunter was in it.
One of John Water's best.......2007-06-02
Not all of John Water's films are great, but this one is. Full of absurb humor a campy aesthetic. The Odorama card included is fun to scratch and sniff while watching the movie.
Oh Tad, be gentle!.......2007-04-11
This one ties with Desperate Living as my second favorite by John h20's. My favorite scene; Elmer Fishpaw driving around the neighborhood in a van with a loud speaker making announcements about his estranged wife. "She eats an entire cake in one sitting!"
Poor Francine, the main character played by Devine, even her mom is against her. She bursts into the bathroom where Francine is on the toilet; "I dont know why you bother, you've always retained your fluids!" Great cult flick.
"For a quarter I will!".......2007-01-12
I love John Waters and will watch anything he creates. Polyester is one of my favorites. Silly, campy, and just a bit off and I love it. Hundred's of quotable lines and funny moments. If you like John Waters and haven't seen this, get it.
A hillarious mockery of Americana!.......2007-01-08
John Waters is written all over the place in this one! Everything about suburban middle class Americana is lampooned in Polyester! Divine's mother sums up the whole thesis of this movie when she utters the epitome of the American Dream...-"Free, White, Rich and Happy!"
Divine plays Francine Fishpaw, a 30'ish housewife trying HIr best to live the American Dream. Except that HIr husband is a fat loudmouth pornographer! And HIr son is a glue sniffing foot fetishist! And HIr daughter is a punk whore who goes out with the slimiest guy in town! And HIr mother is a gold digging witch! And HIr dog hangs itself on the refrigerator! And HIr best friend is the deliciously ugly Edith Massey! And HIr new lover, Todd Tomorrow, (Tab Hunter) is in cahoots with HIr mother to inherit the house and Divine's American Dream!
My favorite scene is where Divine (Francine Fishpaw) goes to her first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting! The attendees mercilessly taunt and coach her to say the "Magic Words"---"I'm Francine Fishpaw! And I am an alcohoooooolic!" and they all cheer!
As if the theme and plot isn't zany enough for you, John Waters adds the spectacle of "ODORAMA" to the movie. At predictable times in the film a number flashes, to have you scratch and sniff the corrosponding number on you "odorama" card to enjoy, for the first time, SMELLEVISION! Smell all the delightful smells of Divine's life, from old moldy sneakers, to farts, to gasoline!
This is perhaps the only John Waters movie you can enjoy with your parents, providing your parents are from the Manson Family!

Some of us will never understand why this boy-and-his-whale tale became the hit family film of 1993 and one of the bestselling videos of all time. But it is easy to see how clever marketing and a tear-jerking story could touch the hearts of kids and parents the world over, especially because the endangered Orca whale named Willy is such a majestic creature. The story couldn't be more conventional--it's like Old Yeller and The Black Stallion with a big sea mammal--but as the boy who comes to Willy's aid against the whale's exploitative owner, young Jason James Richter gives an appealing performance with which children can readily identify. After two sequels and an animated television series, this popular film also had a happy real-life ending: Keiko the whale (who plays Willy) recovered from failing health and was gradually trained to survive outside of captivity. --Jeff Shannon

This movie is meant to show you that there are poeple willing to put the wild animals no matter what species back to the wild when threatened in captivity you will enjoy this movie as much as i when i was young!
And i still do!
Great Family Flim!.......2007-06-12
This is a great adventure movie that children and adults alike would Love!
Great Movie!.......2007-05-24
I like this movie very much. It is one of my favorite videos. The movie was very well made. The character Jesse in my opinion is pretty accurate for a foster child. Many of the same behaviors are in "real" foster kids. I like how he comes to peace in the end from his past and how he accepts his new parents. I like how clean the movie was and it was touching!

Description
This Turner Network Televison movie tells the true story of the black calvary corps known as the 'Buffalo Soldiers.' These troops patrolled America's wild west after the civil war. In addition to keeping the peace, they fought the racism of their commanders and other white corps soldiers.
Customer Reviews:
The Buffalo Soldiers Danny Glover.......2007-01-03
This is a superb film, giving the viewer a great story of a little known period of American history. The battle/skirmish scenes with the Apache were well done and very realistic. I did not let the automobile approaching in the distance in one of the scenes at Fort Craig put me off either.Glad I bought this DVD.
Historical but Corny.......2006-09-04
I like the movie for it's accuracy in uniforms, equipment, and weaponry. I like the scenery in the movie although it is filmed in Arizona and not New Mexico. FT Craig was in an area geographically different from Arizona. I've been there. Also, Rattlesnake Springs that was mentioned in the movie is actually in Texas.
I thought the movie should have been rated PG-13 because of the harsh racial language. I have read that there was a lot of racism by some of the officers who were not convinced that the black soldiers were capable. Many did think that their careers would be tarnished. I think the movie did offer both sides to that argument, showing that there were good officers who were willing to lead.
The end of the movie was really corny. I can't picture Victorio walking up and shaking hands with a soldier who has been chasing him and his starving band of Apaches for miles.
Overall, an entertaining movie with some inaccuracies. For more information on the Buffalo Soldiers, visit http://www.9thcavalry.com
A Hollywierd production on Buffalo Soldiers.......2006-05-29
This movie is very sad. Seminole Negro Indian Scouts only served in Texas, not New Mexico. There are no officers present but Colonel Grierson, only the sergeant major. Grierson is presented as a wimp when he was in reality a hero of both the Civil War and western frontier. No american soldiers would have been able to sneak up on the Apache. No black soldiers ever had to dismount to pass through a western town, this is purely Hollywood. The song that is sung by the black troopers as they are carrying one of there deceased to the cemetary was written in the 1930s. This is one sad movie.
Rating Warning.......2006-02-19
This is more about the rating perhaps than the move...However, I think that it is important to know that this is not,in my opinion a rated 'G' movie! Within the first few minutes, they used prejudicial language and swore-causing me to quickly turn it off in discomfort and disgust. When I think of a rated G movie, I think of something like Lion King, Parent Trap, or other family-type movies that EVERYONE no matter what their age can watch without offense. This movie is not one of those. I purchased this movie believing that I could share with/educate my kids on the historical significance and heroism of the Buffalo Soldiers and instead had to turn it off after 15 minutes due to its inappropriateness for anyone under 15. They were exposed to too much historic accuracy and prejudiced for my taste. We discussed why the movie creators may have added these words and situations (to be historically accurate and show the adversity the Buffalo Soldiers faced), but still felt the story could be told accurately without the use of such a strong and distructive prejudical term. I believe the rating should be changed. While this may be a worthwhile movie to show the plight of the African American in history, I found it to use too realistically harsh language and situations for its G rating. I relied on the previous reviews and the rating in making my decision to purchase and view this movie with my kids. Believe me, I will not make that mistake again.
Ignored chapter of American History..........2002-05-06
This commendable film addresses a shamefully ignored chapter of U.S. history. Freed slaves were enlisted in the military to patrol Western territories. Many served with distinction, as the narrative here takes pains to point out. Thankfully, the film is not unduly preachy, and it is very well acted. But it remains a bit sketchy and is dramatically a bit on the limp side. Well worth watching, but it could have been better developed and edited.
