The political becomes personal in 9/11: Press for Truth, which examines the World Trade Center attacks from the perspective of the families who lost loved ones. Written and directed by Ray Nowosielski, the documentary draws partly from Paul Thompson's website-turned-book, The Terror Timeline, and much of the commentary comes from Lorie Van Auken, Patty Casazza, and Mindy Kleinberg, three of the "Jersey Girls." Along with Kristen Breitweiser, the 9/11 widows have become activists in its wake. As Casazza says, "We all had questions...and wanted answers." The primary one was: How could this happen? Interestingly, two of the women voted for Bush. Casazza adds, "Even though he should have been our biggest advocate, he turned into one of our biggest adversaries." Together with eight other spouses, parents, etc., they form the Family Steering Committee and lobby for an independent commission, which comes to pass, but fails to deliver the goods. The widows find more useful information in Thompson's timeline, which he compiled using material in the public domain (Thompson also appears in the film). The style of 9/11: Press for Truth couldn't be more conventional--talking heads, television footage, omniscient narrator, relentless score--but the personal approach makes it a valuable addition to the rapidly-growing list of 9/11 documentaries. The point is, to quote Patti Smith, "people have the power"--people like the Jersey Girls, Paul Thompson, and all the other ordinary citizens who have kept pressure on our elected officials and the news media to dig deeper and work harder. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Description

The Coverup Exposed By The 9/11 Families

"They lied, they all lied." --Patty Casazza (one of the "Jersey Girls")

"We don't know the whole story, not at all" -- Lorie Van Auken (one of the "Jersey Girls")

"9/11 was the biggest 'don't ask-don't tell" --Sally Regenhard, lost Firefighter son.

"Press for Truth" is an astonishing portrayal of the lengths our public servants will go to protect themselves from any accountability. --Scott Horton, Antiwar.com

Although independent investigations began within weeks of both Pearl Harbor and the Kennedy assassination, the same was not true of the attacks of September 11th. Most are unaware that formation of the 9/11 Commission was strongly opposed by many in Washington, including the Bush administration. It was only due to pressure from the 9/11 families, led by a particular twelve calling themselves the Family Steering Committee, that, fourteen months after the attacks, the first hearing finally began. These twelve remained active in monitoring the Commission's investigation, providing a list of hundreds of specific, well-researched questions to the Commissioners. In the end, the 9/11 Commission Final Report failed to answer seventy percent of them.

In 9/11 PRESS FOR TRUTH, five of the most prominent members of the Family Steering Committee, including interviews with three of the "Jersey Girls," tell their story for the first time, providing the most powerful argument yet for why 9/11 still needs investigation. Adapting Paul Thompson's definitive Complete 9/11 Timeline (published by Harper-Collins as The Terror Timeline), the filmmakers stitch together rare, overlooked news clips, buried stories, and government press conferences, revealing a pattern of official lies, deception, and spin.

5 out of 5 stars Lots of unanswered questions.......2007-09-06

This is frustrating to watch because there is so much we don't know about 9/11 and nobody seems to care. Very well made & produced.

4 out of 5 stars Well-crafted 9/11 documentary, good intro to 9/11 Truth.......2007-08-22

This film is a quality, professional production that details many of the glaring lies and contradictions in the U.S. Government's story about the 9/11 Attacks. It shows many mainstream acknowledged details about foreknowledge of attacks and exposes connections between the CIA, Pakistani ISI, and Bin Laden's Al Qaeda fighters. It could have gone much farther in presenting damning evidence, but it sticks to the details that support a "let it happen on purpose" hypothesis. The film relies heavily on Paul Thompson's timeline surrounding 9/11 and the efforts of the Jersey widows to get the government to respond to their questions about 9/11. Their testimony reveals that most of their questions and concerns were ignored by the government, as a majority of 9/11 families now support further investigation and distrust the government. This movie shows that the 9/11 Truth movement honors the dead and their families by seeking the truth and justice pertaining to those events. Those who truly dishonor the families of those killed in the attacks are the government and media gangsters who suppress new investigations and defend the litany of lies offered by the government.

3 out of 5 stars Doesn't go far enough..........2007-08-19

This is a good movie which gently exposes the Truth of 9/11 but it does not cover the real conspiracy behind the crime.

4 out of 5 stars A careful, low-key conspiracy theory expose.......2007-08-08

As someone who long ago abandoned belief in the "official" story, it seems to me that the strength of this film is its introduction of the basics of the alternative explanations of what really happened, in a manner so matter-of-fact that the average viewer will not be so quick to deny them. This, and the conventional, mainstream sources sited position this as a potential breakthrough film for the 9/11 truth movement.

Anyone open-minded and interested enough to want more info should check out The Terror Timeline, written by Paul Thompson, the "citizen journalist" that appears in the film. Although the information in this book is certainly highly suggestive on its own merits, Mr. Thompson has taken an even-handed approach that allow individuals to draw their own conclusions.

5 out of 5 stars Please show this to your friends and family..........2007-07-18

This information needs to be seen by every patriotic American! It's time for change in the political system of our nation... War for profit and needless loss of our childrens lives must end! A must see!

What is it about director Richard Donner that Mel Gibson enjoys so much that he's appeared in five of Donner's films? Is it the on-set pranks? Could it be the big-budget perks and $20-million paychecks? Or is it just a well-stocked catering table? Whatever the case, the Lethal Weapon star and director teamed up again, along with fellow superstar Julia Roberts, for this typically glossy, entertaining but ultimately hokey thriller. Gibson plays New York cab driver Jerry Fletcher, whose wacky belief in conspiracies finally hits on a coincidental truth involving an evil figure named Jonas (Patrick Stewart) and a secret program of government-funded mind control. Roberts plays the Justice Department attorney who finally believes in Jerry's paranoid ramblings. With a plot (from LA. Confidential cowriter Brian Helgeland) that's a lot of fun as long as you don't think about it too critically, Conspiracy Theory benefits immeasurably from the charisma of its high-magnitude stars. --Jeff Shannon

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Conspiracy Fact.......2007-08-29

You don't run into to many people that seem over the edge with theories on conspiracies. Mel Gibson, Julia Roberts, and Patrick Stewart all do great jobs in their roles. Gibson is good as the slightly crazy taxi driver with all kinds of theories on government agencies. Roberts is a believable Department of Justice agent. Stewart does well as the CIA operative with questionable methods of programming agents. Not a bad government cover up action thriller. I recommend as a rental before purchasing. The set that includes this and Tequila Sunrise is a good value.

5 out of 5 stars I believe it..........2007-07-09

This movie is probably so on point I'm surprised the government allowed it to be made. But they do say that art imitates life!

5 out of 5 stars One of my favorite Gibson films.......2007-05-07

Couldn't be happier with the movie and the service. Thank you.

3 out of 5 stars Teen flick.......2007-04-16

This is your basic teen flick: lots of car chases, bombs, violence, torture, and a sloppy ending. The plot is extremely complex; I'm not sure anyone could make basic sense out of it. And the hospital escape scenes are among the most fanciful in screen history. Fanciful as in ridiculous. Yes, the two superstars can certainly act. But both deserve to be in better movies.

4 out of 5 stars A clever departure from the usual "agents out to get me" genre..........2007-01-28

If for nothing else, this is worth watching to see how schizophrenics really act. In most ways they appear to carry on with life normally, but ultimately their paranoia prevents them from holding a normal job or having social interaction to any degree. Jerry (Gibson's) chatter is seriously well acted.

Of course in this film the paranoia is (surprise!) justified. But the way Jerry secures his food and apartment from tampering is hysterical. The escape hatch from his apartment, and an escape from the hospital, chained to a bedrail, are masterpieces.

If you liked the book "Catcher in the Rye", you may enjoy this film too, although the book described a descent into mental illness, and the film describes escape from it; Hollywood wouldn't have it any other way.

The resonance of the film has changed since it was made a decade ago: Now the executive branch of government is strengthening its powers of surveillance, by its own admission. Whether you agree with that or not, it makes this film worth re-watching (and I seldom receommend re-watching any film).

Finally, if you love the films of Julia Roberts with her Mick Jagger lips, then of course you will like this film (for the others, in spite of her). There are some nice Mel Gibson action/chase scenes thrown in: the hot-dog-stand chase in particular turns out nicely comical.

Description

This is the official version created (and endorsed) by director Sofia Smallstorm.

"Watch and decide for yourself." - Rosie O'Donnell

"Excellent. The best of the 9/11 movies." - David Ray

Griffin, author of The New Pearl Harbor

"An outstanding contribution to understanding 9/11. Simply superb." - James H. Fetzer, founder, Scholars for 911 Truth

"WOW! is my reaction to this movie. - Steven E. Jones, physics professor, Brigham Young University

"A superb work and asset to the patriot community and America itself." - Aaron Russo, producer/director, America: From Freedom to Fascism

Tall buildings shatter in 10 seconds; steel beams buckle as if crushed by Superman; a volcano of ash darkens the sky. Can jet fuel perform such a feat?

911 Mysteries is a careful deconstruction of the official story set alongside clean, clear science. It is ninety-minutes of pure demolition evidence and analysis, laced with eye opening witness testimonials.

The 9/11 picture is not one of politics or nationalism or loyalty, but one of strict and simple physics: How do you get a 10-second,110-story pancake collapse of a major structure?

This is the film that might actually reach out to mainstream America-no agenda, no finger-pointing-just the facts and "mysteries." It is a story of people. Willie Rodriguez's recollection of strange noises on the 34th floor, and Scott Forbes' similar story. Who was up there bumping around just weeks before the towers fell?

This is also the story of blasting itself; how shaped charges are strategically placed to slice through steel beams, allowing total control of how a building falls. This information helps give a better understanding of how a building can be purposely set to collapse and shed insight into what happened on the fateful day of 9/11.

1 out of 5 stars Just another hate Bush documentary........2007-09-17

You conspiracy nuts need to really get a life. If it were an inside job, then who attacked WTC in 1993, Clinton? And where are all these people that were involved in such a big job? And how long would it have taken for the government to setup such explosives? Your guys never take these basic thoughts into mind. There is not one person that can claim they were involved in plotting planning or setting up these so-called explosives. And no one heard them or saw them putting these explosives on two 110 story buildings and WTC7?

You people don't really care about facts, you're just driven by this blind hatred for Bush and you'll buy into any conjured up idea that can make Bush look bad.

The rest of America can see right through these hate Bush propaganda that are in everyone's face. They will keep making more of them and feeding themselves more and more hatred for the rest of us Americans that don't blame the Government. The real truth is they are just haters and have brainwashed themselves paranoid of the their own government that give them their freedoms which they claim they don't have.

5 out of 5 stars 911 INSIDE JOB .......2007-09-14

I say worth every penny I spent. The events of September the 11th, 2001 forever changed the world. 9/11/2001 has been used to justify two major wars (with more wars to come) and a dramatic increase in both the size and scope of domestic law enforcement.

How much do we really know about 9/11/2001? We need more Americans to buy items like this to help expose those really responsible for 9-11-2001 within our own government.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely a must!.......2007-09-09

This is an excellent, very educative, documentary on 9-11. Well researched and accurately presented material. If this movie does not affect your consciousness, you are in a hopeless denial.

5 out of 5 stars If There Is Any Film That Needs To Be Seen This Is It.......2007-08-16

If you don't know yet that 9/11 was an inside job, see this film and be prepared to cry.

Many questions do remain about 9/11. However, whether it was false flag terrorism is not one of them, as this film makes abundantly clear. It carries the smoking gun visual footage that makes the unassailable case.

Everyone in the Western world needs to see this film.

1 out of 5 stars Garbage.......2007-08-14

Most of the concepts in this movie your typical conspiracy theory. I am amazed the amount of garbage that people will believe. I would avoid this moive at all costs since it is based on proven lies.

Description

More than 40 years have passed since the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. The Murder of JFK: A Revisionist History takes a comprehensive examination into the theories behind the assassination itself. It also explains the tragedy within the context of the existing U.S. political and cultural climate, and the global context of the Cold War.

The Murder of JFK: A Revisionist History includes:

  • The first digital rendering of the Zapruder film, mastered from the original.
  • The only known color footage of Lee Harvey Oswald.
  • Cuban source material on the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
  • First-time use of audio material from Robert F. Kennedy¹s oral history.
  • Interviews with Arthur Schlesinger, John Frankenheimer, Jack Anderson and Sam Halpern.
  • A link between the film Psycho and the FBI's report on Oswald.
  • Newly discovered footage from local television archives and foreign news sources, including Lyndon B. Johnson's thoughts concerning a conspiracy.
  • Winner of the 1999 IDA/ABCNews VideoSource Award for the Best Use of News Footage in a Documentary.

3 out of 5 stars Good for Archival Footage, Not Much Else.......2007-07-07

I've read about 30 books on the Kennedy years and Kennedy assassination, as well as the Warren Report, and countless programs about it. I feel I have a pretty solid base for a description - and if you're looking for anything new regarding the assassination, you won't find it here.

The first half of this film is top-notch, discussing some key events of Kennedy's presidency and providing excellent archival footage and interesting analysis. The assassination itself was described very quickly and without much detail, which is fine - I mean, what are we going to hear that we haven't heard before? So by that point in the film, I was thinking it was going to continue to be terrific.

I was wrong. At that point it devolves into incredibly broad generalities that are all directed toward one thing - suggesting that there was definitely a conspiracy in the assassination, that the Warren Commission were little more than lackeys to the FBI and set out with a deliberate agenda to arrive at the conclusions in the Report, and to give a great deal of air-time to several nicely-dressed conspiracy nuts.

My problem with that is that there was no balance. They showed Gerald Posner for about 10 seconds and mentioned his book, then allow it (with no evidence presented) to be trashed as a book of lies. And while there were plenty of problems with Posner's book, it was more responsible to fact than most books on the subject, but would leave the casual viewer with the impression that to arrive at the same conclusion as the Warren Commission, you must be full of it.

Basically it became just another conspiracy program. It offers all kinds of speculation and no proof of anything, which was an incredible disappointment. This was one half of a terrific program, and was worth the $15 just for that first hour or so. The last half is pretty irresponsible and could not be taken seriously by anyone who knows more than a little about the case.

It's okay. Worth a look for that first half. Watch the second half to see if you concur with me - and if you do forget that last half and watch the first half again. That half is definitely worth having.

4 out of 5 stars A little intense, but worthwhile........2007-04-18

JFK: A Revisionist History helps the viewer to understand that the [...] of John F. Kennedy was far more complex than having been committed by a lone, crazed gunman named Lee Harvey Oswald. In fact it makes a good case for the whole thing not having been committed by Oswald at all. This even goes into all the political events and those who may (or may not) have played a part in doing this horrific act. It also goes into a lot about the autopsy and whether the shot to the President's head did damage that looked like this or that. It also explains something about who may have controlled things and why, so that the Warren Commission was so resolute in it's final assertion that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole shooter, inspite of the overwhelming amount of information to the contrary. A very good DVD to see to add further information to the knowledge on this event in history.

5 out of 5 stars Cornerstone of a Conspiracy Theory.......2007-03-06

Excellent DVD! The historical footage as well as enigmatic soundtrack added to the documentary without being overly dramatic or campy. The historical background material adds perspective to the whole issue. When watching "JFK" (Oliver Stone, starring Kevin Kostner), the movie very poorly touches on the issue of the mafia...although I knew the history of the Cuban revolution, I never connected why they might want to shoot Kennedy. Or the Mafia for that matter! "JFK" leaned heavily on the Coup-de-tat end of the conspiracy theory, while this documentary evened things out more and made more sense of the history that would have contributed to Kennedy's assassination.

I believe there was a conspiracy...but watching the real Zapruder film of the shooting, unedited, in this documentary, leaves me with only more questions. The shot would have seemed to come from the back (a head bobbing back when shot from behind isn't uncommon...its not the force of the bullet as much as the muscles relaxing). An exit wound is far larger and messier than an entrance wound. In the Zapruder film, its obvious that the messy wound is in the front, indicating he was shot from behind. The angle of the shot seems wrong, however and the autopsy footage clearly shows and exit wound at his neck. There seemed to be some evidence, watching the Zapruder film that the exit wound was up near the temple, not the neck. It is hard to see on such a small film.

Anyways, fascinating. Watch this, watch JFK. Compare the two. Both great movies.

4 out of 5 stars ACTUALLY, A PRETTY GOOD DVD.......2007-02-21

As the leading civilian authority on the U.S. Secret Service (and President Kennedy's interaction with the agency), I was much interested in this DVD by Matthew White. Quite frankly, I didn't expect much, but the technical brilliance of the program---and the archival footage contained herein---make this a worthwhile purchase. Get this. vince palamara

4 out of 5 stars Some Great Archival Footage In Here; Several Rare Film And Video Clips; Definitely Recommended For JFK Collectors.......2006-03-25

"The Murder Of JFK: A Revisionist History" makes a very nice addition to any collection of John F. Kennedy-related materials (regardless of whether you're "pro-conspiracy", "anti-conspiracy", or somewhere in between with respect to your particular beliefs regarding President Kennedy's assassination). Although a definite thread of conspiratorial belief most certainly is woven into this documentary, it's not shamefully brazen or overly ridiculous-sounding in terms of conspiracy, which is unlike many of the other outlandish JFK theories and plots that have been postulated in the various books, films, and documentaries over the years.

What this program fails to do, though, is to delve in any depth whatsoever into the life (and more importantly, the mind) of Lee Harvey Oswald....a man who I believe killed John Kennedy all by himself in 1963.

Oswald's role in the assassination is pretty much glossed over here; and, strangely, Jack Ruby (the man who killed Oswald on 11/24/63) is barely even mentioned in this documentary. There's a short clip of Ruby murdering Oswald in the police basement, but after that snippet the subject of Ruby comes up (as I recall) only one other time, during a rather strange film clip showing a group of protestors demanding the immediate release of Dallas prisoner "John Ruby". (Oddly, these protestors didn't even seem to know the true name of the man they were fighting so hard to have released from jail.)

"A Revisionist History" is a lengthy program, with a running time of 140 minutes (not the 180 minutes that is advertised on the DVD). It was made in 1999 and won an award for "best use of news footage in a documentary". And I can see why. This DVD is loaded with rare news snippets associated with JFK's terrible murder, which occurred in Dallas, Texas, on November 22nd, 1963. There are many news clips presented here that I had never seen before, including quite a bit of footage taken during the years leading up to Kennedy's death.

"Revisionist" hints at a possible "Cuban connection" with respect to JFK's ultimate demise, and thusly this documentary features several video and film clips taken in Havana around the time that Fidel Castro gained control of Cuba. One such interesting clip was culled from "The Ed Sullivan Show" of January 5, 1960, where Sullivan puts on his interviewer's hat and asks Castro some hard-hitting questions. Fidel, in a classic bit of irony, informs Mr. Sullivan (and, hence, America) .... "You can be sure that Batista will be the last dictator of Cuba".

Some of the video footage seen in this program can also be found in another excellent, must-see documentary film on the Kennedy assassination, that being 1964's "Four Days In November" (narrated by actor Richard Basehart).

"Four Days" in many ways serves as a good companion program to "A Revisionist History", insofar as presenting a large dose of vintage filmed materials relating to the JFK case.

In my own opinion, "Four Days In November" (which consists of almost nothing but vintage, archival news footage, circa 1963) is superior to all other Kennedy films and documentaries, with a musical score by Elmer Bernstein that is also second to none. But this "Revisionist History" program has its own set of high points in the "vintage footage" department as well, making it a pretty good bookend piece to "Four Days".

Some of the highlights worth noting from "A Revisionist History" include:

    >> A good-sized portion of a June 22, 1964, interview with Texas Governor John Connally (via KRLD-TV in Dallas). Mr. Connally, after having recounted the entire assassination sequence which had occurred exactly seven months earlier, becomes quite emotional at the end of this footage. This black-and-white clip (which appears to be on videotape and not film) exhibits super-sharp video and audio quality.

    >> Footage showing John Connally introducing Lyndon Johnson as a candidate for the Presidency at the Democratic National Convention on July 10, 1960.

    >> Two brief rarely-seen film clips (in color) showing Lee Harvey Oswald during his altercation with police on the streets of New Orleans in the summer of 1963. (This is evidently the only known color film footage of Oswald in existence.)

    >> The November 29, 1963, telephone conversation between new President Lyndon Johnson and Senator Richard Russell, discussing the creation of LBJ's Warren Commission, of which Senator Russell was strongly opposed to being a member (as can be heard in this phone call). Excellent audio quality attached to this clip, too.

    >> Very, very rare film clip (I'd never seen it before) showing Warren Commission members standing outside the Texas School Book Depository Building in Dallas in July 1964. This B&W film footage is accompanied by audio as well, with the microphones picking up some comments made by Allen Dulles and David Belin. This unique footage also shows Dulles and Belin looking out at Elm Street (where JFK was assassinated) from behind the picket fence atop the now-famous Grassy Knoll in Dealey Plaza.*

    * = I thought that that particular "Behind The Picket Fence" portion of this 1964 footage was rather interesting, in that it certainly indicated that the Warren Commission members were, in a sense, not totally ignoring the idea that one or more shots on 11/22/63 could have conceivably come from behind that fence -- otherwise, why would the Commission and its staff have even bothered to have a look for themselves at the view that a potential assassin would have had from that Knoll vantage point? (Conspiracists will no doubt argue that the Commission members were merely "going through the motions" for the press, which was following the WC's every move in Dealey Plaza that day, as can be observed in these film clips.)

    >> Portions of a BBC-TV special entitled "The Death Of Kennedy", in which the Single-Bullet Theory is discussed (and even re-constructed on camera using mock-ups of victims Kennedy and Connally). This BBC clip, which is in B&W, also includes comments made by Warren Commission counsel member Arlen Specter, as Mr. Specter defends his position aggressively with these words: "You call it the theory; I call it the conclusion; it was a theory until we found the facts; that's why I refer to it as the Single-Bullet Conclusion".**

** = Note: The DVD claims this BBC program aired on January 27, 1964; but that's an obvious error/typo. The SBT had not even been postulated by Specter and the WC as of that January '64 date. The Commission, in fact, as of that date in early 1964, had barely even begun their work. That BBC broadcast is probably from 1965.

    >> Rare color footage of a portion of the FBI/WC re-enactment of the assassination from the 6th-Floor window of the Book Depository (as seen through the scope mounted on Lee Oswald's Mannlicher-Carcano rifle). I didn't know that color footage of the FBI re-creations even existed until viewing this DVD. This snippet is very, very short, but it's quite interesting seeing it in fairly-vivid color.

    >> A September 27, 1964, news clip from a CBS-TV special ("Report On The Kennedy Assassination"), with Walter Cronkite giving a general overview of the just-released Warren Report. Cronkite speaks forcefully about the facts and evidence of Oswald's guilt during this B&W news clip. I especially enjoyed Mr. Cronkite's first blunt and to-the-point observation re. the Warren Report: "Oswald was a liar". (Darn right he was, Walter. LHO never stopped lying from the minute he was arrested in the Texas Theater. And it's great hearing a newsman reporting it like it is.)

    >> A portion of Walter Cronkite's September 1969 CBS-TV interview with former President Lyndon Johnson, during which JFK's assassination is openly and candidly discussed. (Note: Oddly, this particular in-color news clip with Johnson and Cronkite is shown in a 1.66:1 Widescreen format on the DVD. A few other clips on the DVD are also shown in Widescreen for some reason.)

    >> March 1975 footage of the late-night talk show "Good Night America" with Geraldo Rivera -- The Zapruder Film (showing JFK's murder) is broadcast for the first time on national television. This color clip includes Robert Groden's blatant exaggeration of the number of witnesses that he claims heard shots from the Grassy Knoll on 11/22/63 ("80 percent"). Groden deliberately overstated the number of Knoll earwitnesses in order to further his own notions of a JFK conspiracy. In reality, well more than 50% of all earwitnesses in Dealey Plaza said they heard shots from BEHIND the President's car, and not from in front of it.

This same "Good Night America" footage (in expanded form) can also be found on another MPI Home Video release from 1998 -- "Image Of An Assassination: A New Look At The Zapruder Film" (which is another very worthwhile collectible DVD product pertaining to the Kennedy murder case).

    >> Color film clip of Congressman Christopher Dodd interrogating former CIA Director Richard Helms on September 22, 1978, during the House Select Committee's inquiry into JFK's death. Stinging remarks by Mr. Helms can be heard in this clip, which is footage that's not in very good shape, picture-quality-wise.

In the years following JFK's murder, Richard Helms, obviously sick of having his agency raked over the coals and suspected of having a hand in Kennedy's death, always exhibited a harsh and brusk tone in every comment I ever heard him make publicly in wake of President Kennedy's assassination. Helms' comments, however, come off as rather foolish-sounding in this specific clip re. "AM/LASH".

    >> Video clip of an irate Wesley Liebeler (Assistant Counsel member of the Warren Commission) in the early 1990s, wherein Mr. Liebeler publicly denounces the Oliver Stone film "JFK". Liebeler: "Your movie is a vast tissue of falsehood, deception, and distortion. .... Your movie cannot be defended on a factual basis".

    >> The "Castro Playing Ping-Pong For Three Hours" video clip. (Consult the DVD for more details on this humorous footage.) ;)

    In-A-Nutshell Breakdown Of This Program:

    Pros:

    >> Many rare and hard-to-find-anyplace-else news clips.
    >> Good video (DVD) quality.
    >> Peter Dean's solid narration. (Peter also, btw, served as narrator for MPI's "Image Of An Assassination" documentary.)

    Cons:

    >> Could probably have been edited down to a shorter length.
    >> The music score (which isn't very impressive, IMO).
    >> Not enough background information on Lee Oswald.

    ----------------------

    Overall......

I think that conspiracy theorists and lone-assassin believers alike will be able to appreciate many things within this MPI program, with the wealth of seldom-seen film footage that is presented here, all by itself, being worth the cost of this disc for ardent collectors of JFK-related material.

Now you can see for yourself what really happened on November 22, 1963. These DVDs will take you back in time to Dealey Plaza where you will become a witness to the "crime of the century."

Robert J. Groden is acknowledged as the world's foremost authority on the photographic evidence relating to JFK's assassination. Mr. Groden was technical advisor to Oliver Stone's JFK.

Here, for the first time, are his optically enhanced films and photographs from that dark day and the investigation and cover-up that followed. Mastered from Mr. Groden's original materials.

    2 out of 5 stars Tedious.......2007-08-15

Bland! I purchased this in hopes to gain a more in depth understanding of what happened that fateful day in American history. The films all show without a doubt that the shot came from the "grassy knoll", but fail to provide any more interesting information than that. The voice over is lifeless and useless. Save your money on this one. However, any idiot that still believes the government had nothing to do with the assasination should be made to endure this one.

5 out of 5 stars Some reviews are proof positive that the Cover-Up is alive and well.......2006-06-30

Imagine that: just 1 star by another reviewer for a DVD that is essentially the first comprehensive photographic record of the most important murder of the 20th Century! Now, why do you think anyone might want to discourage you from seeing it? Being a three-decade student of the JFK assassination, I watched both the Peter Jennings documentary ("Beyond Conspiracy") and Dan Rather's earlier special. They, along with the books "Case Closed" (a title which reflects the wishful thinking of surviving conspirators) and "Marina and Lee," all recommended by our 1-star reviewer, are merely the latest slick, well-funded attempts to poison the well of truth. If they can at least leave an uninformed public with the impression that the lone-gunman theory isn't totally laughable, then they can count these productions as money well-spent.

But, please by all means check them out. Watch "Beyond Conspiracy"...and then go to www.dealeyplazauk.co.uk/ and read "A Critical Review of the TV Documentary `The Kennedy Assassination: Beyond Conspiracy'" by Dr. Tony Austin. Read "Case Closed" by Gerald Posner...and then buy "The Great Zapruder Film Hoax" by James Fetzer and a host of other film and photography experts. See what Priscilla Johnson McMillan, long believed by many researchers to be a CIA operative with a role in handling Lee Harvey Oswald, has to say in her book "Marina and Lee," but don't miss reading Mark Lane's "Plausible Denial: Was the CIA Involved in the Assassination of JFK?" And when you are done, you will be convinced of three truths: that a U.S. president was abruptly removed from office through a meticulously-designed act of treason involving well-placed government figures; that no grown person of average intellect who has actually studied one-tenth of the evidence for a conspiracy could still believe that the crime was committed by a nutty lone gunman; and that the continuing efforts to make this claim with a straight face in books and TV documentaries serve only as evidence that some powerful people still alive today are worried enough to keep muddying the water.

For those who seek the truth about who controls the world in which they live, Robert Groden's collection of priceless historical evidence (whether or not some of it was altered by the guilty) is unquestionably a treasure worth owning.

5 out of 5 stars Groden has done it again!.......2005-12-30

Quite simply, you MUST own this! This is an amazingly well done dvd of all the primary film footage for 11/22/63. 'Nuff said (great bonus footage, too)

3 out of 5 stars tainted by poor production.......2005-11-26

Groden would have done well to have a professional narrator do the commentary. It would have been more powerful that way. I'll leave it at that. Sometimes it's just a hoot!..Also the music sounded a bit on the homemade side too and also made me laugh at one point. But....lots of great photos and films. 21 films...who knew?....

1 out of 5 stars Groden continues his Conspiracy Theories in Spite of Evidence to the Contrary.......2005-08-25

Robert Groden suggests that the Zapruder film of the Kennedy Assassination has been tampered with to cover up the real killers of Kennedy. In my opinion, his "evidence" is shaky at best. Groden has made a lucrative living off of proposing alternative theories of who "really" shot Kennedy, and here he is in 2003 suggesting that there was a conspiracy to kill Kennedy despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary presented by ABC, CBS, and many books. Groden needs to finally realize that the Kennedy assassination has been solved definitively, and his continuation of conspiracy theories is clearly his lame and pathetic attempt to keep his money cash-cow alive.

Don't draw a conclusion based on this DVD! Look at other sources listed below and then draw your conclusion:

    1. ABC's Peter Jennings presentation of the Kennedy Assassination (available on Amazon.com) clearly shows that Oswald was the one and only killer of JFK.
    2. CBS's Dan Rather's special program on the Kennedy Assassination (available on CBS website) also suggests that the preponderence of the evidence points to Oswald as the lone killer.
    3. The book "Case Closed", by Gerald Posner. He uses the physical evidence collected in Dallas, logic, and his ability to see through the fallicies of the conspiracies to show that Lee Oswald is the lone assassin.
    4. The book "Marina and Lee", by Priscilla Johnson McMillian. This book shows that Oswald was certainly capable of the assassination, and the circumstances of his life point to the conclusion that he killed Kennedy.

My advice is to watch this DVD first, and then look at the sources I list above, and then make an intelligent conclusion. If you are like me, you will see that Groden really has nothing solid to stand on.

    Description

Despite all the evidence, millions around the world continue to blame the Jews for 9/11. This belief is a modern-day incarnation of the infamous "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," the century-old forgery that some people claimed to be the Jews' master plan to rule the world. Filmmaker Marc Levin sets out to understand why "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" has been revived, and to challenge one of the most persistent, insidious conspiracy theories of all time. In the course of his explosive journey, Levin finds himself delving into the heart of hate, facing those who would traffic in bigotry, all in the name of God.

    5 out of 5 stars Disconcerting.......2007-05-19

I am a big fan of the genre, and I can say without qualification that this is a very well-made documentary. The subject matter is both chilling and mystifying. Marc Levin demonstrates that no matter how many times they've been debunked the "Protocols" continue to be cited by anti-Semites old and new, domestic and international. Following 9/11 the manufacture of new myths surrounding the Jews gives us, through Levin's lens, a fascinating if disturbing opportunity to witness the development of this kind of lie first-hand. It is a briskly made film with its fair share of humor, but it definitely leaves you with something less than a smile on your face. I highly recommend it.

1 out of 5 stars The Hidden Hypocricy.......2007-04-10

All the while this film bemoans anti-Semitism, Marc Levin's father has the nerve to downgrade the Catholic Church by making fun of the sign of the cross. Some people in this world can't take it but they can dish it out! Anti-Semitism is horrid, but I have no sympathy for double-tongued people.

    2 out of 5 stars Give me a Break.......2007-03-10

Imagine a movie that starts with a premise that racism still exists in the United States. In order to prove this, they go and find the nastiest, sleaziest white supremicists they can find, and stick them in front of the camera.

That's what this film does with anti-semitism. It talks about a document called the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and examines it in detail. This document is discredited and is believed only by the kooks and flakes of the world. And it's those flakes that this film goes to great pains to seek out and interview.

And so Levin "proves" that there is rampant antisemitism in the United States. Whatever.

    1 out of 5 stars Nearly Unwatchable.......2007-01-31

Ever Again was not a particularly well done documentary, but it's a work of genius compared to this drivel. It seems most of the other reviewers have been soft on this film because it is against the evil of Antisemitism. This film fails to make a coherent argument. The director jumps from scene to scene with no flow or direction. There are numerous tangents that go nowhere. The director likes to hear himself talk and ends up in verbal fights with idiots while he spouts stupid platitudes. Worst of all, the director seems to believe in a great all encompassing corporate conspiracy not much different than that expoused by The Protocols.

    4 out of 5 stars Hard view.......2006-11-02

"Protocols of Zion" takes a somewhat convulted view on modern, post-9/11 anti-Semitism in the world, using the nefarious fabrication of the "Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion" as a template.

Much of the film doesn't reflect much on the actual screed itself, but rather the modern world's Jew hatred. The new anti-Jewish myth is no Jews died at 9/11.

Get ready for some intense dialogue. Ironically, some of the most hateful remarks in the film come from participants in a peace rally. An older man states he'd rather go to hell than be in heaven with "f----" Bush and Cheney. This is opposed to the spokesman from the Natonal Alliance in his tacky red tie speaking plainly about their beliefs and operations. Actually, some of the best, most honest and rational sounding people in the whole film are convicts at a maximum security prison.

One of several scens that bothered me was the interview with young Palestinian-Americans. They were born Americans, but still so wrapped up in the affairs of the "old country." I had to wonder why this was, especially in the wake of so many others, like the Irish, the Poles, the Italians, the Chinese, etc. who worked to become Americans and never looked back. And then hearing these guys start talking like gangstas didn't make the situation any better.

The worst moment was definitely the interview on the Passion with James Carroll. Aside from that, it was worth the look.

1 out of 5 stars Should be titled Beyond Belief.......2007-08-24

    Give me an ever-lovin' break.

No one in America has been or remains more eager to "prove" the poorly conducted prosecutor's brief that is The Warren Report than the American News Media. Why? It could be they were bought off, rather implausible but they are beholden to the government for their licenses. It could be they are embarrassed to retract their unwarranted approval of the report when it first arrived, it could be they embarrassed to retract the plethora of inaccurate and dishonest reporting they have provided the American people over the past 45 years on this subject. Embarrassment at one's own foibles has made people do stupider things than that. That's anybody's guess, but clearly the idea that the news media might have a vested interest in "proving" the Warren Report was right after all is not too difficult to imagine. If someday someone finally unearths an undeniable smoking gun, think of the egg that will be on their faces. Of course they want you to believe they can prove it after all. They can't or they surely wouldn't have waited 40 years to do so.

To take the JFK murder "beyond conspiracy", one has to solve the crime, doesn't one? And that is inarguably not accomplished in this program, only one of several pro-Warren Report "documentaries" that miraculously appeared on the scene at the 40th anniversary of the assassination. Putting people in a computer simulated mock up and moving them about fractions of inches proves very little. It might prove that it is theoretically possible for a bullet to have passed through both Kennedy and Connally, no one ever said it wasn't possible, nor would the bullet have had to come from the Book Depository in particular to have done so. It does not explain how a bullet alleged to have done so and caused seven injuries in two men emerges in pristine condition, free of blood or tissue, or even a dent, on a stretcher at Parkland Hospital that was used by neither man, nor does it explain how they are obviously struck by different bullets according to the Zapruder film, the testimony of both Governor and Mrs. Connally, and the majority of the witnesses who testified regarding this impact. Ask yourself why.

All of the character assassination that can be dredged up in the entire world about Lee Harvey Oswald will not change the fact that not one single person saw, or claims to have seen, Mr. Oswald in that window pulling off a feat of marksmanship that could not be duplicated by the world's greatest sharpshooters with that piece of crap rifle. Ask yourself why.

And neither Peter Jennings nor the entire staff of ABC News combined can explain how the alleged crazed act of a lone nut in any way jeopardizes national security in such a manner as to cause the records and evidence in the case to be sealed from the public for 75 years. Even in the 21st century, years after the enactment of the Freedom of Information Act and the Assassination Records Review Board, literally hundreds of thousands of documents (perhaps most notably Oswald's IRS records) remain hidden from the public. Some have been demanded released in a court of law, YOUR courts of law, people, only to have the agencies responsible for these documents then claim they must have been "accidentally" destroyed. Ask yourself why.

This "documentary" will be of great entertainment, and comfort and solace to those who, for their own personal reasons, cannot violate the official party line. To those who truly wish to approach the assassination with an open mind, whether they are inclined to believe it was Oswald or someone else but want to know more, hard proof or even generally accepted facts are few and far between in this piece. It does not prove what it sets out to prove, it does not carry us "beyond conspiracy", indeed it only serves to create an even more uncomfortable and paranoid environment of study than already existed (if that's possible).

At my place of business, the morning after this "show" aired, I overheard two customers saying "Did you see on the news last night about Kennedy? They proved it was Oswald!" Clearly these people had not attended law school and did not understand the concept of "proof" as is generally acceptable usage in the English language, but their response...well that, my friend, is precisely why they made this program.

5 out of 5 stars Goes well with Bugliosi's Reclaiming History.......2007-08-14

Bugliosi's new book on the Kennedy assassination comes with photo sections but the archive film used in this ABC special is quite useful. Most useful is the analysis of the Zebruder film showing the viewer exactly how the second shot passed through both men. This third shot is shown in all its graphic horror.

5 out of 5 stars this DVD is for a certain type of person.......2007-06-30

If you need to feel safe and secure about your government and believe that 'they' would never lie to you, then this DVD is a 'must have' for you. It will help put to rest any doubts you may have had about the Warren Commission Report.
But as for the rest of us delusional, paranoid, pot-smoking, lunatic conspiracy theorists ; we still wanna know a) why the Zapruder film looks so fake and tampered with (don't believe me? look into it), b) why would a pristine bullet turn up on Governor Connally's stretcher at Parkland Hospital and seriously be considered as evidence of a bullet that passed through both JFK & Connally while so much other evidence was discarded because it didn't fit the official theory, c) why all the bizarre coincidences, associations and mysterious deaths surrounding the assassination of JFK, not to mention bizarre deaths surrounding LBJ, d) why is the most important autopsy of the 20th century is so hard to figure out and seemingly so amateurish and finally (although there's lots more to discuss) e) why all the confusion about the whereabouts of President John F. Kennedy's brain?
Oh yeah, I could go on and on, but instead I'll just say that for someone like me; this DVD is good for the 3D animation and showing the position of the people in the limousine. That's all. It doesn't dispel any questions I still have about the topic. So I really give it one star.

5 out of 5 stars Jennings is My Hero.......2007-06-29

Anyone with intelligence and an open mind will be convinced by this DVD. Oswald acted alone. There was no conspiracy. Peter Jennings is honest and brave, just like Posner and Bugliosi. These three men have the courage to face down the deluded dimwits who still cling to their unsubstantiated paranoid fantasies. After 44 years of conspiracy nonsense, the conspiracy nutballs will never give up. They cling to their distortions, their lies, and their half-truths because they are too afraid to change their minds and admit they have been wrong all along. This DVD should have been the last word on the assassination, but unfortunately we live in a world filled with blind paranoid fools.

    1 out of 5 stars Don't believe this garbage.......2007-05-27

I have seen this on cable several times. Each time it amazes me what blatant propoganda this is. If you are writing a thesis and are trying to write a persuasive thesis then you present facts that support your view. You argue the facts to support your theory. This presentation is as lacking as the Warren Commission. The Warren Commission was not formed to prove who killed the President. This show presents facts??? related to, without uncertainty, pointing the finger directly at Oswald. They show only one side of the equation frequently. (Including interview footage of Oswald's brother saying that "he did it and I know Lee." (paraphrasing) As the warren commission did - this mocumentary leaves out important facts and leaves questions unanswered. Preposterous rubbage that is being subjected to our younger generation who don't know any better. Tell everyone who will listen not to believe this trash. You know what really happened and I'm not so sure that Oswald was even part of it. When you have an important plan do you leave anything to chance. Of course not, and they didn't either. It is truly amazing that they got away with it. My opinion of Peter Jennings goes down when he participates in false propoganda. He loses his credibility when he accepts projects such as this.

5 out of 5 stars Hey I'm In this Show!.......2007-01-11

As a UFO investigator and a Roswell Researcher I was able to help Sci-Fi work on this special. A little concerned at first about the ridicule factor which could have been embedded in this show, I was very happy with the way Larry (the Producer) pulled it off. There's a lot of information wrapped up in this show including the science behind the archeology dig I was a part of. Don Schmitt and Tom Carey stepped up to the plate with a wealth of information only the finest UFO investigators could provide, and Dr. Bill Doleman put together the science. There was a lot of conflict, heart-ache and heated discussions while filming this special, which only made it better. [.

5 out of 5 stars Evidence Enlarged - The Roswell Crash.......2006-07-17

This is an excellent documentary on past coverage of events concerning the Roswell Incident hosted by Bryant Gumbel. It definitely reopens the case with news breaking investigation.
It shows unquestionably and undoubtly there has been a "Air Force cover up". The key breakthrough of course is the "General Ramey Memo" - "Take the disk and the victims to Fort Worth Texas". If you want to get at the "truth" about the "Roswell Incident", then this is the documentary to see.

Loose-limbed and casual even for a Robert Altman movie, Dr. T & the Women has a sly, offhanded wit that makes up for its ramshackle structure. Richard Gere's eponymous gynecologist seems the model of success: his office is packed daily with the cream of Dallas's society matrons clamoring for an appointment, his home life is blessed with loving wife Farrah Fawcett and daughters Tara Reid and Kate Hudson, and when he needs a break from the estrogen congestion there are always weekends to be spent with his trio of hunting buddies. But on a trip to the mall to shop for Hudson's upcoming nuptials, Fawcett strips naked and leaps about in a waterfall. Her subsequent incarceration in a mental hospital (she's diagnosed with the fictional "Hestia complex," suffering from receiving too much affection) along with the ongoing preparations for the wedding barely make a dent in Gere's charming, compassionate demeanor. Then his golf course hires a new female pro who's everything the other women in his life are not--independent, self-confident, Helen Hunt--and Dr. T finds himself with yet another woman to love. Though the minor characters are mostly nasty little caricatures, the film is not the bitter misogynistic rant its detractors claim it is; the problems in Dr. T's life are placed squarely on his own inability to see that women don't need his genteel protection, and Gere perfectly captures this sweet yet condescending blind spot. --Bruce Reid

1 out of 5 stars Do not waste your time.......2007-07-24

My biggest regret was not reading these reviews before I rented this colossal waste of time. I realize that most rentals are impulsive and we can't plan out our lives to go and browse Amazon reviews before renting, especially older stock like this seven year old garbage, but still...I have wasted my money so hopefully you don't have to.
No redeeming qualities about this movie at all. Sadly, I'm amazed at some of the reviewers saying that it is worth it to see Farrah Fawcett or Helen Hunt naked. And you admit this freely? Put away the tissues and get out of your parent's basement right now! The rest of you, avoid this. Despite some great actors and a reknowned director, this is not good. No characters to like - not one, a ridiculous plot, and an ending that is satisfying only because it is the rotten cherry on this terrible cake, so at least the ending is as bad as the rest of it.
The most bothersome thing is that you have reviewers who rate this so highly on the cover of the dvd, a shameful act of shilling for garbage that makes you doubt the integrity of the reviewer.

3 out of 5 stars Another Entertaining Movie from Robert Altman.......2006-07-14

I've seen several of Robert Altman's movies (MASH, Popeye, Gosford Park, Nashville, A Prairie Home Companion, The Player) and have enjoyed them. Dr. T & The Women is no exception. I really enjoyed Richard Gere's character and empathized with him throughout. The ending is strange (like Paul Thomas Anderson's "Magnolia", as others have pointed out), but I would rather have that ending than something depressing. I want to see more of Altman's movies after watching this one.

1 out of 5 stars not to bright.......2006-06-03

ok, the movie isnt too bad, but why would you charge $33 for something you can get for $5 in new condition at Walmart? You rip ppl off, your not to smart, and the ppl that buy it are just retarded!

    3 out of 5 stars Not a bad flick.......2006-04-14

I really don't know what all the hype is about. This movie is not as bad as these reviewers are protraying it. It is a bit slow at first but I found it quite funny. You people need to get a sense of humour. The only surprise was the graphic child birth scene. It was a bit too much in that respect. I would recommend seeing the movie, especially if you're a Richard Gere fan like I am.

    1 out of 5 stars Not good.......2005-11-07

I wonder why Richard Gere accepts these roles in movies with no plots and sense. I just watched on TV because there was nothing better, I can't belive that actresses like Liv Tyler are on these movies, she has talent to make better movies. I want somebody to explain me the movie.

    4 out of 5 stars Fun thriller.......2004-12-04

I liked it. yes, the budget's a little low for what they were trying to do, but there are some good themes in this you wouldn't normally expect from a movie of this kind. Nice twists and turns, a creepy paranoid vibe and (at least from what I got), a timely message about the dangers of people becoming sheep. how fitting given the current state of the world. It also doesn't hurt that Elizabeth Berkely is easy on the eyes.

It appears that the only way we can get the truth out about the Paradox of Evil the United States has become is to package it as a movie. The Government of the United States is treating its citizens as bags of popcorn by microwaving them to keep them from speaking out.

    2 out of 5 stars Rubbish.......2004-12-02

I picked up this movie with a number of other SciFi Channel releases and this one is not worth the time taken to view it,the plot is full of holes, for example why doesn't the director of the covert op need a helmet like his troops to protect his brain from being controlled. The redemption of Karen (the wife)is totally unbelievable as is the participation of the street gang who just happen to want to fight the government, and to top it off most of the acting is second rate, probably because the actors found the script as trying as I did.
