The most widely known of Troma Films' stable of low-budget exploitation, The Toxic Avenger is an exuberantly crude poke at superheroes and monster movies, delivered with a healthy dose of cheap gags, splattery special effects, and T&A. It's also a genuinely funny film, and its no-holds-barred attitude has a grubby charm that eludes most gross-out comedies. The Toxic Avenger opens with an absurdly vicious crew preying upon Melvin, a nebbishy janitor. Their pranks land him in a vat of chemical waste, which transforms him into a lumpy monster that deals out gruesome revenge. Directors (and Troma company heads) Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz aim low in detailing "Toxie's" vengeance spree, and the subsequent carnage should please gorehounds. But they're also savvy enough recognize the film's limitations, and wisely camp things with plenty of slapstick. The result is a frantic and funny mess that should amuse even the most dour cult movie fan. --Paul Gaita

I'm Not Just Another Pretty Face!.......2007-08-07
I just recently saw this movie, which I consider one of the best creations ever to hit a tv screen. A couple of days ago, me and my friend went to a weird, underground video store (definitely not your normal blockbuster or Hollywood video) and I happened to finally come across The Toxic Avenger. I have looked for this movie at other video stores but was unsuccesful at finding it. This video store also carried atrocities such as Cannibal Holocaust, which I was very surprised to find.
Anyways, so I went back home, popped the DVD into my xbox 360 and watched the most brilliant movie ever created. First of all, this movie is pure cheese, but it was meant to be that way, so WAY TO GO TROMA!! The acting is so over the top that its just ridiculous, and this goes for the gore-fx as well. None of the characters are believable. They over-do it so bad that I think it takes talent to do so. The gore in the movie is alot more realistic than the acting. You'll get to see children's brains being run over by cars, dogs being shot, and much more. It is sick, but Jesus is it entertaining (and funny).
The biggest thing about this movie is the comedy, and it so funny I almost crapped my pants. Toxie is the funniest super-hero i've ever seen. He constantly growls, and he has the most hilarious one liners your ears have ever heard. Even for being mutated into a monster, he has the most normal voice out of everyone in the film. Everything that he did, from mopping people's faces to throwing an old lady into a drying machine, was 100% hilarious fun.
Overall, if you are ready to see an extremely gory cheesefest, then this movie is for you. This movie's taste is so foul and absurd that it is pure genius. I just don't know why all movies can't be like this. Go buy or rent it to see for yourselves.
A superhero who kills his oppenents is the sickest ways possible.......2007-06-04
This movie is filled with all of the things you don't want your kids to see on TV. It also has a lot of stuff that nobody should ever see. A woman pleasures herself while looking at photos of a head being smashed by a car, a little girl gets a shotgun pointed at her head, and some characters drive down little kids for fun. I never thought I would laugh at an old woman getting beaten to death, but it is done in such a corny way. Even the dog getting shot got me to crack a smile. It starts out sick, but then they show a quick shot of the dog with his guts hanging out, but the dog's tongue is hanging out like he doesn't even notice what is going on. I don't know if they meant to show the dog alive happily breathing after it gets shot, but it was hilarious.
The story is about a nerdy young man who falls into toxic waste and turns into a big muscular toxic superhero. Nothing in this movie should work, but the overacting by everyone is truly a joy to watch. After seeing this cheesy masterpice, I can't wait to see the other Toxic Avenger movies.
3.5/5
Picture quality is very good, and this is definitely the uncut version.
Special features include a commentary from Lloyd Kaufman, commentary from Mark Torgle on a couple of scenes, and a couple other fun things.
i love the monster hero!!!.......2007-03-25
wow. the toxic avenger. what an amazing freaking movie! if there is one film that defines 80's cinema, i feel that its the toxic avenger. the film is about a nerd janitor named melvin who is constantly harrased by everyone at the tromaville health club were he works. he receives the most torment from 4 hit and run drivers, one of whom tricks melvin into dressing in a tutu and meeting her at the pool were everyone is waiting to laugh at him. melvin is chased through the health club before jumping out a window and landing in a barrel of misplaced toxic waste. this transforms him into the toxic avenger or toxie for short. its now toxies job to fight crime in tromaville and get revenge on the 4 creeps who transformed him into a monster. the toxic avenger is a very, very entertaining film that althoughis full of violence and sensitive subject matter, is still very funny. the best parts of the film are toxies fights with the deranged criminals of tromaville. his first fight is against 3 drug dealers who are about to kill a cop. another cool fight scene is against 3 insane freaks robbing a fast food rersaurant. besides these 2 fight scenes, the rest of the film is wildly enjoyable. gore hounds will be pleased as toxie smashes heads, tears limbs, gouges eyes and rips out the guts of every sadistic criminal he comes across. one infamous scene is were the 4 hit and run drivers run over a young boys head. even though this scene is pretty intense and disturbing, its not done to disturb the audience and the rest of the films violence is done in an over the top fashion. if you havent seen the toxic avenger then trust me, you wont be dissapointed. my only complaint is that toxies revenge onthe 4 hit and run drivers should have been as gruesome as the rest of the films violence. they ran over a little kid and laughed about it! they should have been torn to peices, but they still get whats coming to em. the toxic avenger is one of my all time favorite films and i'm positive that once you see it you'll love it. get tromatized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wonderfully funny.......2007-01-09

when that helpless little boy on the biycle gets his head squashed like a melon I knew this was probably the greatest cinematic experience i'd ever have. And guess what? I was right! And Freud was right too. Sex & violence is what attracts people the most & this has a fairly nice balance of boobs & carnage. A+

not better than the original but nearly just as good........2007-06-09
the first toxic avenger is one of my favorite films and on my list of favorite films. the 2nd and 3rd werent to great but after seeing the trailer for citizen toxie on my copy of the original i couldnt wait to see it. in this film toxie gets thrown into an alternate universe and an evil toxie named the noxious offender goes to toxies universe. toxie has to get back in his own universe and defeat noxie while battling other feinds along the way. this film is great. its full of over the top gore, gross out gags, politically incorect humor and gratuitous nudity everyone can enjoy. saying that, this film is not for everyone. people who are offended easilly or cant take a joke will not like this film because it makes fun of abortion, school shootings, the mentally handicap, racism and much more. the only thing that i didnt totally enjoy was that toxies make up wasnt that great. he looks cool, but his make up is kinda lame. toxie still looks cool and this movie is awesome. its nearly as good as the original and one of the few films i can watch over and over again. awesome!
Feces lovers rejoice!.......2006-07-26
This movie is realy disturbing & funny with realy nasty scenes... Not for people who cant watch gross things. Citizen toxie-the toxic avanger iv is a must've if you love disturbing & disturging things.
Greatest Film in the world.......2006-04-15
This is the greatest film ever, I enjoyed reading Robert Hedges review of it, how could watching a car run over a grannies head causing the granny to squirt diarrhea all over the road not make you laugh, yes it is mindless gore but thats the whole point, its not going to encourage any reall life violence because its so over the top, also the film has its heart in the right place, the toxic avenger only kills people in a manner of comical ways when someone does something wrong. Political correctness had started to suffocatte us before comedies such as the simpsons and south park started to target absolutely everybody without exeption, this film does the same.
innocence of tromeo and juliet and evil of terror firmer rolled into one........2006-01-31
thats exactly what i would describe the real toxic avenger sequel as. troma junkies should already have seen/own this dvd. i think this is one of troma's best of all time.yes, under the retard massacre, the rednecks' recist act, and violence to the elderly lies a innocent heart in this movie. something that terror firmer lacked and something tromeo and juliet was abundant in. dont watch this or terror firmer if you are a troma virgin. start out with sgt kabukiman nypd, cannibal! the musical, and toxic avenger 1. after those move on to tromeo and juliet. you may be prepared for this after you see those ones first. good job troma!
Movies I Own U Should 2!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-09-04
Toxie at his best this is one of the greastest TROMA movies ever made I would gladly pay 30 dollars for a movie this good also get the Tox Box***** and the Toxic Crusaders***** It's the cartoon show from when I was kid It's FRESH as HELL. The extra features are great like always with TROMA, you also get a cool Citizen Toxie poster!

Troma Films' Toxic Avenger series shows its lack of legs with the second sequel to its 1985 hit. Despite a typically absurd premise, which has Toxie battling Satan to save his hometown of Tromaville, the film lacks the go-for-broke gags and gore that made the first two films such guilty pleasures. Part of the reason for this may be that the movie was culled from footage shot for The Toxic Avenger, Part II; Troma heads Lloyd Kaufman (who also helmed the feature) and Michael Herz simply stitched together Part III from the loose ends. While haphazard construction is part of the charm of Troma's films, the relatively high quality of the Toxic Avenger series raised the bar, and the slapdash nature of Part III is more of a disappointment than a campy source of humor. True to their nature, Troma disregarded the drubbing this film received and completed a fourth entry, Citizen Toxie. --Paul Gaita
Description
The New York Post raves, proclaiming Toxic Avenger III to be "Troma's `Intolerance,' with bigger sets and higher aspirations." The third 35mm theatrical hit in director Lloyd Kaufman's wildly successful Toxic Avenger series finds our hideously deformed creature of superhuman size and strength battling his most formidable foe to date- the Devil himself! He's cleaned up Tromaville. He's conquered Tokyo. The Toxic Avenger series has set a new standard for independent action/comedies, transcending the limitations of low-budget filmmaking to become a bona fide worldwide phenomenon! The Toxic Avenger Part III continues this tradition in high style with eye-popping, gut-wrenching special effects, explosive action, and the unmistakably Tromatic sense of humor.

Toxic Avenger Part III.......2007-06-02
The Toxic Avenger Part III is pretty much made up off leftover footage from the Toxic Avenger Part II. That being known, you can tell Toxic Avenger III has a paper thin script. The best part of the movie is the fight scene in the video store, where he rips out a guys intestines.
The plot involves the Toxic Avenger working for the devil, the chairman of Apocalypse Inc, which really doesn't make any since. He battled Apocalypse Inc in Toxic Avenger Part II, so he would already know that Apocalypse Inc is bad. Toxic Avenger wants to get Claire an eye operation. Why is her name Claire in Toxic Avenger II & III, when her name was Sarah in the original? So, if you watched the first two Toxic Avenger movies Part III is going to seem kind of stupid and pointless. Even though is movie pretty much contradicts Toxic Avenger II, I still give it three stars because I enjoyed the first two so much, if you forget about what you know first the first two films part III is fairly entertaining. If you didn't like Toxic Avenger II stay away from this one!
An OK sequel!.......2007-05-25
After the events of part 2, lovable monster superhero Toxie must still deal with the evil forces of the greedy corporation known as Apocalypse Inc. as he struggles to get his fiancee Claire an eye operation to restore her sight. He joins Apocalypse Inc. and becomes a yuppie then the hero every Tromaville citizen loves, unknown to him that the owner of the corporation is actually satan who plans on taking over the town of tromaville but can Toxie regain back his soul and take on the dark lord himself or will Tromaville including humanity will suffer?
An all-right entry of the series though it's not as good as the first, second and fourth entries! The splatter is well done but there's not much of them as shown in the other parts of the saga but the laughs are still there.
This DVD has good picture and sound with the unrated director's cut and cool extras like trailers to this and other Troma movies, an introduction by Toxie creator and Troma president Lloyd Kaufman, interviews with cast, interactive troma map, Toxic Avenger museum with stills and merchandise gallery, easter eggs, where in the world is Toxie? featurette and more.
The Weakest Of All TA's, but still enjoyable........2005-06-29
I first got into the Toxic Avenger with this very movie years ago. I loved the humour and the over the top goofyness of it. I became a fan 'cause of this movie and then later on saw Toxie 1 and saw why people didnt like the sequels 'cause they where more comedy driven then gore, like the original.
However, part II does has some great re-inserted gore bits that makes it better then it's original release. I was hoping that this one, part III, the directors cut would have re-inserted some bloody awsome grouseme shots. But, I hardly noticed any changes at all from the old VHS copy I had.
It had been a long time since I watched any of the Toxies, and watching them all on DVD in the correct order, i did see why this movie is said to be the weakest of them all, it does drag for a while through the middle of it and doesnt pick up untill the end. But there is still some great scenes in it.. however, I cant say you will enjoy it, some will, some wont, it depends on taste and how much you loved the first movie I guess.
The DVD contains the movie. The movies fine, except it looked a bit faded in color. The subtitles are screwed up. it's only in stereo, the commantary is the usual crap, the Toxic interviews would only entertain the die hard fan, they would put everyone else to sleep, Clips from the Anthology Film Archives screening of the movie is a snore, Watch the Naked Dance of the Damned Fat is just a dumb extra added, Absorb the Radiation March is a stupid thing put on every Troma DVD, Visit the Troma Treasure Chest is something that has potential to advertise there gift store, but it's just not funny, Learn to TromaDance is for the dumn at heart, The Mutant Slide Show old-school style is a bunch of pics and cover arts, Where in the World Is Toxie is hardly diffrent from the one on the 1st TA DVD, i didnt even bother going through them all.... the bonus features are pretty weak.. some outtakes & Deleted scenes are badly needed, but unfortunalty none exsist because they where thrown away.
If your a fan of Toxie and want this to complete the collection, then theres no stopping you from buying it, but otherwise, look for it in the cheapie bin or rent it, it's ok, and watchable again and again, but it's not as classic or as strong as part 1, 2 & 4's directors cuts.
The Worst of the Series, But Still a Lot of Fun.......2004-10-13
What a great idea... after Toxie cleans up Tromaville and makes it a "nice place to live" where people are happy and dance like idiots in the streets, who's left for Toxie to oppose? Well, how about THE DEVIL!!! For those that don't know the story behind parts II and III, it was originally supposed to be one movie. The ony problem is that after it was completed it turned out to be something like 6 hours long! So the directer decided to chop the film in half and trim it down to two seperate movies. This explains the continuity problems and the fact that Part III seems to have such a weak plot. It's really just the end of one long movie. Personally I would have liked to see it as a 6 hour epic, but that's just me. So anyway, the themes of evil big business conglomerates being represented by satan is taken literally this time around. Now we find out that the Chairman of Apocalypse Inc (whom you'll remember from part II) is actually Old Nick himself (i.e. Satan) trying to pollute the planet and control the people. Of course we all know who wins. With the help of non other than the Good Lord, Toxie mashes satan. I would say to ignore those advising to steer clear of this movie. I found it to be, while not quite as good as I and II, a good, fun little movie.
This was a Disappointment.......2003-02-02
As much as I like Troma films, this movie was seriously disappointing. As a fan of the first two films in the Toxic Avenger series I was expecting a lot more from this third installment. Instead, this movie is a large step backwards from the previous two. The acting is horrible, the fight scenes are awful, and the plot is lacking.
And it features one of the worst endings ever. The "videogame" showdown makes little to no sense. Regardless of whether or not you're a Troma fan I recommend steering clear of this one.

not better than the original but nearly just as good........2007-06-09
the first toxic avenger is one of my favorite films and on my list of favorite films. the 2nd and 3rd werent to great but after seeing the trailer for citizen toxie on my copy of the original i couldnt wait to see it. in this film toxie gets thrown into an alternate universe and an evil toxie named the noxious offender goes to toxies universe. toxie has to get back in his own universe and defeat noxie while battling other feinds along the way. this film is great. its full of over the top gore, gross out gags, politically incorect humor and gratuitous nudity everyone can enjoy. saying that, this film is not for everyone. people who are offended easilly or cant take a joke will not like this film because it makes fun of abortion, school shootings, the mentally handicap, racism and much more. the only thing that i didnt totally enjoy was that toxies make up wasnt that great. he looks cool, but his make up is kinda lame. toxie still looks cool and this movie is awesome. its nearly as good as the original and one of the few films i can watch over and over again. awesome!

Despite a roster of disreputable films that includes everything from Bloodsucking Freaks to Terror Firmer, Troma Films' crowning achievement remains its comic book tribute/parody The Toxic Avenger (1985) and its pair of 1989 sequels. The comedy/action/sci-fi effort, about a crime-fighting monster spawned from chemical sludge, is as proudly crude as Troma's other films, but also genuinely funny and competently directed by company chiefs Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz. The combination of slapstick and splatter helped earn the film the broadest audience recognition of any Troma film prior to Tromeo and Juliet--so much so, in fact, that several years later, the Toxic Avenger would be given his own Saturday morning cartoon.
Troma's affection for Toxie is made abundantly clear with The Tox Box, a lavish (by the company's standards) four-disc package that contains the three features as well as four episodes of Toxic Crusaders, Toxie's animated adventures. Troma fanatics should note that that the discs for Toxic Avenger I and III are largely identical to versions that were released independently within the last few years, but the disc for Toxic Avenger II is a true "uncut" version (with more violence) that differs markedly from the previously released R-rated DVD. As with all Troma DVDs, each disc is packed with supplemental material, from Lloyd Kaufman's hilarious (and often unhinged) commentary to a wealth of excised scenes, trailers, and production stills. Toxic Crusaders even includes a pair of '40s-era serials in their entirety to fill out its scant running time. Cineastes may decry that lowbrow material such as this has been given the deluxe treatment, and even Toxie fans may wonder if this much Troma is good for their mental health, but DVD buyers must admit that The Tox Box is an embarrassment of riches. --Paul Gaita

Original is excellent, the rest are horrible........2005-09-12
To be brief, the original movie is an excellent classic for all to enjoy. The other 2 aren't worth speaking of. I couldn't even watch more than 15 minutes of part3. This movie was almost as bad as Van Helsing.
Reviews on all the TOXIC AVENGER movies........2005-01-23
The Toxic Avenger is a masterpiece from Troma while the sequels are decent the first is a classic.
The Toxic Avenger-*****-Entertaining black comedy features a nerdy janitor that is picked on and accidentally falls into toxic waste and becomes a hero around Tromaville and then the fun starts. The Mexican restaraunt scene is a classic as well as the head crushing scene. Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz are geniuses.
The Toxic Avenger part 2-**- Don't really remember this one too well but the plot has Toxie(aka Melvin) in Japan.
The Toxic Avenger part 3:The Last Temptation of Toxie- So-so chapter has Toxie working for a company called Apocalypse to help get his blind girlfriend her eyesight back and soon discovers the boss is a devilish villian. The movie store scene is another classic where punks try robbing it and one of those punks get there hand in the VHS rewinder and the close-up of the hand being grinded and then Toxie gets a mop and jams in his head and twists his head right off and blood squirts everywhere. Overall the Toxic Avenger movies are watchable B-movies with good production values and excellent special effects.

If you don't own this, why are you even alive?.......2004-03-05
The Toxic Avenger, the crown jewel of Tromaville Productions. Melvin certainly has come a long way. From a hot blind girlfriend at the dump (Who does her makeup anyway?), to Japan and cooking villians in the bathhouse. The Toxic Avenger is a dynamite, soul brother, action adventure for the whole family. Seriously, what other movie has a leotard wearing freak pointing a double barreled shotgun at a baby? Or a chick masturbating to pictues of bodies her boyfriend ran over? How do you fight with fish? Can you windsail from New Jersey to Japan? How many people can Toxie fight at once? All these and many more questions are answered. Buy this now or live a miserable and empty life.

Although "clever" isn't the first word that leaps to mind when describing Troma Films' Toxic Avenger series, the sequel to their 1985 hit has enough laugh-out-loud gags (amidst a barrage of slapstick and bodily function jokes) that should tickle the funny bones of veteran and novice Troma viewers alike. The Toxic Avenger, Part II finds the chemically altered crime fighter depressed about the lack of evil in his hometown of Tromaville. That situation is quickly reversed by the appearance of the dastardly Apocalypse, Inc., which sends Toxie to Japan after his long-lost father while they plan to transform Tromaville into a toxic waste dump. Longtime Troma fans might feel let down by the subdued levels of gore and gross-out humor found in Part II (which is possibly due to the participation of television production company Lorimar Films). But the zest with which director/Troma co-chieftain Lloyd Kaufman delivers his lowbrow laughs should allay any cult fan's concerns. --Paul Gaita

Toxic Avenger Part II.......2007-06-02
First off all, the dvd of The Toxic Avenger Part II that you can buy individually, although labeled unrated directors cut is exactly the same as the R-Rated version that was originally released from Warner Bros on VHS.
Melvin, had destroyed all of the evil in Tromaville until Apocalypse Inc moves into town. Apocalypse Inc. wants to take over Tromaville, so they devise a plan to get the Toxic Avenger out of Tromaville long enough for them to take over the town. The Toxic Avenger is sent to Japan on a quest to find his father. In his absence the people of Tromaville have no choice but to do what the Apocalypse Inc want them to do. Of course once the Toxic Avenger returns he takes on the Apocalypse and runs them out of town. The Toxic Avenger Part II is nowhere as good as the original Toxic Avenger, but it is far from terrible. If you loved the first one you should at least like this one. 3 stars!
Inferior to the original but good cheesy fun!.......2007-04-30
After the original movie, mutated superhuman hero Toxie (Ron Fazio) has been saving the town of Tromaville lately and works for the Tromaville home for the blind with a new girlfriend named Claire who's also blind. However the greedy chemical company known as "Apocalypse Inc." conducted by the evil chairman has plans to take over Tromaville as Toxie goes to Japan to find him. Over there he must find his long lost father that he hasn't seen in a long time, meanwhile Apocalypse Inc has taken control of Tromaville and it's bad news for Toxie, can he find his father so he can return to save Tromaville or will he fail?
Although inferior to the original cult horror action comedy classic, it still provides good laughs and nice splatter here. The acting is laughable as the usual Troma movie and so is the writing, what's missing is the original blind girlfriend Sarah from the first movie but suddenly they replaced the character with a new blind chick named Claire i dunno why and some of the charm that made the original a great horror comedy. Neverthless it's a funny movie but doesn't hold a candle to the first one and "Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger part 2" even though there are some nice hot chicks in this movie.
The DVD contains the unrated uncut version has good picture and sound with some good extras like introduction by Troma founder/Toxie creator Lloyd Kaufman, interactive tour of the Troma building, audio commentaries, Toxie 2 on Japanese TV clips, still gallery, trailers to this and other Troma releases and scenes of Tromaville Cafe.
Not as Good fight scenes but still has the Gory parts........2006-05-23
I was eagerly excited when I rented this Film from the movie store. I was expecting more blood and gore than the first but was a bit upset that It didn't. The Toxic Avenger Part 2 had some very memorable scenes such as when Toxie turns a midget into a basketball, pulls a guy's both arms off with his mop, crushes a guy with a wheelchair, burns a Japanese guys nose into the shape of a fish, makes ramen noodles from a fat Tokyo thug, kills a ninja with a starfish, cuts another ninja in half with a bush whacker while he cut's the other ones fingers off. This installment of the toxic avenger is the funniest of them all and even though it's not the greatest, it still has a space in my VHS collection. If you want to see more of my reviews on the other movies, I go into detail on what the goer scenes are. Rent it if you come across part 2 or simply buy it for $5.00. It's worth some laughs. GET THE DIRECTORS CUT!!! THIS ONE HERE IS NOT THE DIRECTORS CUT!!! The R-Rated Version SUCKS!!
NEVER A DULL MOMENT.......2006-02-22
This is the funniest of the Toxic Avenger movies, with moments of truly high hilarity. The oddball hijinx will have you groaning, chuckling, and bellylaughing by turns. Toxie has a girlfriend in this one, and he travels to Japan in search of his father. His girlfriend is played by New-York-City-performance-artist-and Underground-Diva Phoebe Legere, who is over the top to begin with, and who here goes way over the top in her performance. Her rendition of "Amazing Grace" on the soundtrack behind a Sumo wrestling montage ranks among the glories of cinematic history. If you're in the mood for comedy that's raw and raucous and offbeat and silly, this is the movie for you!
Description
IIn 1984, Lloyd Kaufman and the Troma Team introduced the Toxic Avenger to an unsuspecting world. No one could have expected the response The Toxic Avenger received, with rave reviews in The New York Times and The Village Voice and playing theatrically in New York City for a year. Since then, Toxie has grown from a cult icon to an indelible part of the American lexicon. In the space of fifteen years, Tromaville's favorite hideously deformed creature of superhuman size and strength has traveled from movies to comics to TV to the World Wide Web. Toxie's brilliant career has produced two theatrical sequels, The Toxic Avenger Part II and The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation Of Toxie, an animated television series (Toxic Crusaders), numerous spin-off comic books published both by Marvel Comics and Troma's own independent comics imprint, action figures, games, Topps trading cards, designer jewelry, and more merchandise than you can shake a mop at.

Special features include a commentary from Lloyd Kaufman, commentary from Mark Torgle on a couple of scenes, and a couple other fun things.
i love the monster hero!!!.......2007-03-25
wow. the toxic avenger. what an amazing freaking movie! if there is one film that defines 80's cinema, i feel that its the toxic avenger. the film is about a nerd janitor named melvin who is constantly harrased by everyone at the tromaville health club were he works. he receives the most torment from 4 hit and run drivers, one of whom tricks melvin into dressing in a tutu and meeting her at the pool were everyone is waiting to laugh at him. melvin is chased through the health club before jumping out a window and landing in a barrel of misplaced toxic waste. this transforms him into the toxic avenger or toxie for short. its now toxies job to fight crime in tromaville and get revenge on the 4 creeps who transformed him into a monster. the toxic avenger is a very, very entertaining film that althoughis full of violence and sensitive subject matter, is still very funny. the best parts of the film are toxies fights with the deranged criminals of tromaville. his first fight is against 3 drug dealers who are about to kill a cop. another cool fight scene is against 3 insane freaks robbing a fast food rersaurant. besides these 2 fight scenes, the rest of the film is wildly enjoyable. gore hounds will be pleased as toxie smashes heads, tears limbs, gouges eyes and rips out the guts of every sadistic criminal he comes across. one infamous scene is were the 4 hit and run drivers run over a young boys head. even though this scene is pretty intense and disturbing, its not done to disturb the audience and the rest of the films violence is done in an over the top fashion. if you havent seen the toxic avenger then trust me, you wont be dissapointed. my only complaint is that toxies revenge onthe 4 hit and run drivers should have been as gruesome as the rest of the films violence. they ran over a little kid and laughed about it! they should have been torn to peices, but they still get whats coming to em. the toxic avenger is one of my all time favorite films and i'm positive that once you see it you'll love it. get tromatized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wonderfully funny.......2007-01-09
good for a long laugh.. watch late at night for best viewing. :-)
AH HA HA!.......2006-12-14
when that helpless little boy on the biycle gets his head squashed like a melon I knew this was probably the greatest cinematic experience i'd ever have. And guess what? I was right! And Freud was right too. Sex & violence is what attracts people the most & this has a fairly nice balance of boobs & carnage. A+
