5 out of 5 stars Haunting Similarities Regarding Teen Angst........2007-04-04

I saw Disco Pigs on the heels of watching Cillian Murphy in Red Eye. What a triumph for director Sheridan. What stood out for me was the similarities between Pig's experience as an Irish youth and that of many young African-American males. Pig appeared to be reared in a single-parent environment where there was no father figure; his school social worker made reference to him as a "lost cause" and his identification with manhood was sought through having his first sexual experience with his girl, Runt. Despite the dense dialogue, I was amazed to see that the two were actually robbing a liquor store at one point. I could almost feel the downward spiral beginning as Pig slowly but surely lost his anchor with reality. The sense of fear and doom I felt for these two teens mirrored the fear I felt for the teens in Boyz N' The Hood. The ending to Disco Pigs is an absolute shocker. Few movies have moved me to that extent. I was literally haunted for many months afterwards -- largely due to the outstanding performances by Murphy and Cassidy. Sheridan's expertise in directing successfully captures the innocence of youthful, unbridled puppy love, while simultaneously illustrating the affect of the erosion of confidence and dignity and the stark emasculation young males experience, often times at the hands of their own countrymen.

2 out of 5 stars A perfectly painful "Irish" film..........2006-04-25

While I agree with the many positive reviews that this film is well-directed and shot, and engrossing in it's plot, it is also chock-full of weirdness. Cillian's bizarre Jamaican accent made me want to reach into the screen and smack him at (many) points. This one aspect of the film alone ruins it for me. Why? Of all the Irish accents available, why go with such a thick, disgusting accent for the most important, dynamic character in the film? Perhaps the accent was chosen to make him seem more insane, but honestly, it made him seem more of a brutal dullard than anything else, which makes one wonder why Runt would have ever cared for his company in the first place.
All in all, an interesting, but aggravating film to watch.

5 out of 5 stars Cillian is Amazing!.......2006-04-02

I highly recommend this film. This movie is about obsessive love between 2 friends Pig and Runt. They share a world and a bond that seems to be unbreakable until their 17th birthday. Cillian Murphy is incredible as Pig. Even though his character is very violent, you can't dislike him. At times when Pig has went to far instead of getting upset with him, you want to embrace him. He cuts at your heart deeply. You feel his pain and how much he loves Runt. The ending made me cry harder than I've ever cried over a film in my life, even the titantic. When you view this movie you get lost in Pig and Runt's world. After viewing the film you can't stop thinking about the character's especially Pig. The film seems to haunt you, but in a good way. When viewing this film be prepared to become emotionally attached to the characters, do some serious crying and enter into a place you've never been. I promise you will enjoy the ride. Cillian Murphy really displays his acting abilities in this film. He is more than a gorgeous face the man is really talented.

5 out of 5 stars Disco Pigs.......2005-10-26

Until I saw this movie, I thought the love relationship in "Wuthering Heights" was the deepest. Not anymore, this is such a intensly close relationship, that I have never seen anything like it on screen ever before. There are 12 reviews of top critics giving it their heighest rating. If you ever had a strong "puppy love" you will recognize the strength of a bond here. But, that is not all. There is a story here; and, a character's personality not seen before, including showing the tendesest and also the most violent reactions of the male in his transition from teen to adult. Amazing. And actor, Cillian Murphy is flawless-even his singing (he really does) in karoke sceen. Here too is good example of scary obsessive relationship.

5 out of 5 stars better study for psych major than the usual clockwork orange movie.......2005-09-08

This film was compelling it had great clarity on the subject of schiziod personality disorder ,the clang associations, and the fast dissent of the pig character into a crazed sociopath ,was mesmerizing . I hate watching violent movies ,but i was interested in this character study ,it will be one of my favourites, its a must see for any psychology student

4 out of 5 stars Better than the first Pack.......2007-08-16

this second edition of the Zombie pack is a lot better than the first on and to say more complete than the first one. A must have for the real Zombie fans out there.

4 out of 5 stars Well worth the money..........2007-01-24

This is a very good bundle for a very generous price, and is actually a much better set than the Zombie Vol. 1 pack. Media Blasters quality really is second to none (probably on par with Blue Underground) and their tendency to release three movies for less than the price on one is something I think people should be enthusiastic about.

So far as the movies are concerned, we aren't talking Citizen Kane, obviously, but they're certainly fun for what they are, and well worth watching. The strong point of the set is Zombie Holocaust/Doctor Butcher M.D., which is a pretty good Italian style jungle romp, and the low point is the staggeringly awful Flesheater, which drags on for-freaking-ever. Regardless, these are all plenty of fun, and the price is right. If you're more than a casual fan of the genre, this is worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Bargain for the price.........2006-12-15

...well if you buy these separate they run at $19.99 to $24.99 a pop so you do the math. This is a great buy for the price. About the movies:

Burial Ground: not bad at all, the zombies look creepy, the atmosphere is creepy. Not a bad zombie flick. 4/5

Zombie Holocaust: a gory gem. Pretty graphic, nuff said. 4/5

Flesh Eater: horribly low budget, it sounds like it was dubbed even though it is in English. It is extrememly cheesy, but has some really cool gory scenes. 3/5

Gets the five star treatment because it is basically a steal for the price. Order from amazon, I was unable to track this set in any store so I ordered form here and received it in about three days. No complaints here.

5 out of 5 stars three awesome Zombie films!!.......2006-11-27

Like good zombie movies, get this set or buy these movies...nuff said.

4 out of 5 stars Great Deal.......2006-10-03

Oh how I love Media-Blasters. They are putting out movies that time has forgotten. The Zombie Pack 2 includes Burial Ground and Zombie Holocaust both from Italy and Flesh Eater, which is American.

Burial Ground directed by Andrea Bianchi is the so bad that it's a great movie. If you like silly Italian horror flicks loaded with gore this one is for you. There is no plot at all. Just zombie killing people.

What I love about this movie is Peter Bark. He looks like a mini Dario Argento and easily has to be in his 20s or 30s and he is playing a child. And not only that, but his character Michael really likes his mother I'll leave it that.

Also from Italy is Zombie Holocaust directed by Marino Girolami. Though I have to question why they included Zombie Holocaust. It's more of a cannibal flick than a zombie movie. The zombies don't even kill anybody.

They show up making funny noises and scare away the cannibals, but regardless Zombie Holocaust is a fun film with some good gore scenes.

The highlight of the movie is when one guy jumps out a window; it's fairly obvious it's a dummy and when it hits the ground limbs go flying, yet when we cut down to him everything is still in place.

Finally we have the American movie Flesh Eater by S. William Hinzman best known as the zombie that chases after Barbara in the cemetery in the opening of George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead.

Flesh Eater had potential to be a great bad movie, but while it has it's moments just not enough. Once the main characters are killed off zombies just roam around killing people. Sounds great right? Yeah I thought that as well, but trust me it gets old. It's the same scene over and over again for a good 40-min or so.

All 3 movies on the Zombie Pack 2 are quite fun with Burial Ground being the best of the trio.

Like the first Zombie Pack you aren't getting the best horror flicks out there, but for those who love trashy cult cinema (and if you are reading this I'm sure you are a fan) you get some really fun movies.

All 3 of the movies on the Zombie Pack 2 go for a little over $20 each, but with the set you get all 3 for about $20. Even if you only wanted 1 movie from the set it pays to buy the set.

Thank you Media-Blasters for putting out these cult classics.

Zombie Holocaust has a double sider cover. The other side goes under the name Dr. Butcher, Medical Deviate.

Noble Adams, a legendary tracker, is coaxed out of retirement to hunt down crazed killer Red Jack Stilwell and his gang. Now it's kill or be killed in a West so wild you can never turn your back on a stranger.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars No Academy Awards Here.......2006-01-14

A pretty lame western from all aspects. Weak story line, poor character development and the acting (if one can call it that)was almost non-existant. The movie was filmed in beautiful locations however, the director was not even interested enough in the project to shoot in locations void of jet trails in the sky.

If you like westerns like I do, I would not watch this one more than once. I was very relieved when it ended, so relieved I skipped the credits at the end.

4 out of 5 stars Good morality tale.......2005-10-23

Westerns seem uniquely well suited for the presentation of (near) epic morality tales. Even when made for television they lend themselves to the Big Issues. Beautifully filmed in New Mexico, THE TRACKER is a 1988 HBO production that touches on the stuff with deep roots - need and obligation, trust and home. Mostly, though, it about vengeance and the fine line between the Good and the Bad.

The Bad is ably portrayed by Scott Wilson, who's probably best remembered as Robert Blake's killing-spree partner in In Cold Blood. Wilson plays fervent Danite and general sicko Jack `Red Jack' Stillwell. The legendary Danites, as the movie explains, were a perverted branch of Mormons who cleansed the Earth by indiscriminate murder. When Red Jack and gang invade New Mexico Federal Marshal Lane Crawford (David Huddleston) is called on to track them down, dead or alive. But Crawford isn't as young as he used to be, and he needs help. He calls on old friend and renowned tracker Noble Adams (Kris Kristofferson - `even the Apaches were afraid of Adams.') Although inwardly reluctant, Adams agrees to track down the bad guys. Even more reluctant is he to allow his half-son Tom (Mark Moses) to tag along, but the young man is set on it. And so it is three hunting six - four bad guys and two female hostages.

Although Kristofferson sometimes comes across a little detached he doesn't do anything here to embarrass Kevin Jarre's smart script or John Guillermin's taut direction. Noble Adams is more complex than Kristofferson plays him. He's a reluctant avenger, a brutal killer when the situation demands it, a man who sends his son off to college and learns that his return home may not be permanent. It's the type of character western fans like to cheer for, one that's best developed by an actor who can play all the angles. We cheer for Adams, alright, but we're a lot more interested when Wilson's Red Jack is on the screen. All that doesn't make THE TRACKER any less a very good western, nor one that I wouldn't hesitate to heartily endorse.

3 out of 5 stars Formulaic HBO entry.......2003-09-06

Plot, drama, suspense, character development -- this western has them all, to reasonable measure. It seems awfully like other HBO movies I have seen. If you like westerns, this may be a candidate for an evening's entertainment. If you like exceptional westerns, try "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance", "A Big Hand for the Little Lady", "El Mariachi", "Stagecoach" or the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns.

5 out of 5 stars The Tracker.......2002-11-16

I bought this dvd on a whim... It is a great western and now one of my classics in my own personal collection.

5 out of 5 stars Hard Hitting.......2002-08-26

Noble Adams (Kris Kristofferson) is a retired tracker. He runs a ranch and has a wife. He wants nothing to do with his former life. An old friend is calling in a favor and Noble must return to the hunt one last time. Noble's son Tom (Mark Moses) has just graduated from college and has come to tell Noble that he will be living in the east and practicing law. When he finds his dad is going on a track, he headstrongly joins the chase. They will be tracking Red Jack Stilwell (Scott Wilson), a self professed Morman Avenging Angel that just broke out of prison and has been on a violent rampage. He is travelling with a kidnapped women and child.

Noble doesn't really want his son along. He doesn't think the boy can handle the brutality of the land and is worried about the brutality that his son may see in him. Noble Adams is not just any tracker, he's the best tracker ever. The law's avenger, the army refers to him as Nemisis (The God of Vengeance). Even the indians fear him. So Noble, the aging sheriff and Tom Adams, the eastern college boy set out to hunt down the ruthless Red Jack Stillwell and his gang.

Far from a typical father son bonding movie, Tom sees Noble as a cruel, harsh and exceptionally unforgiving man. But he comes to understand that the land has made him that way. Tom turns out to be just as hard but not quite as cold blooded as his father. Hard men in a hard land, doing a hard job.

This unhearalded HBO production stands up as one of the great westerns of all time. More people need to see this movie. It is a classic with no shortage of action or suspense. Although filmed a number of years ago, HBO would do well to provide us with a sequel of equal caliber.

Watch it and enjoy.

Dog lovers will delight in this Scholastic Video Collection compilation of classic canine stories. "Bark, George" is a whimsical story by Jules Feiffer about a dog that meows, oinks, and generally does everything but bark. Feiffer's simple drawings are nicely animated and viewers can't help but chuckle while watching the Veterinarian's comic efforts to cure George. "Dot the Fire Dog" features Lisa Desimini's original still drawings and explores just what firefighters and firedogs do all day and night. An animated "No Roses for Harry" (Gene Zion) follows a cute little white dog with black spots as he cavorts and schemes to get rid of the hand-knit sweater that Grandma made for him. The DVD includes three bonus stories: Mercer Mayer's "A Boy, A Dog, and A Frog" is a classic, wordless, real-life photography piece about a young boy's amusing attempts to catch a frog. Ezra Jack Keats' animated "Whistle for Willie" features a boy intent on learning to whistle for his dog and Marjorie Flack's "Angus Lost," while a dated, real-life photography piece, nonetheless tells a charming story about the wanderings of a mischievous black Scottie dog. (Ages 3 to 9) --Tami Horiuchi

Husband and wife Arliss Howard (Full Metal Jacket) and Debra Winger (Terms of Endearment, An Officer and a Gentleman) star in Big Bad Love, a fragmented adaptation of stories by Southern writer Larry Brown. Leon Barlow (Howard) is a hard-drinking, heavy-smoking, long-haired, and deeply unhappy aspiring writer who pulls a dozen rejection slips out of his mailbox every day. He fights with his ex-wife Marilyn (Winger) over his undependability, helps his best friend Monroe (Paul Le Mat) paint a house, and generally tries to get through his life with some semblance of purpose. The struggle of everyday life is well balanced by vivid realizations of Barlow's dreams, fantasies, and fleeting thoughts. Just at the point when the vague plot of Big Bad Love threatens to become maddening, the movie crystallizes with a tragedy that brings the underlying grief into focus. A messy but deeply felt movie. --Bret Fetzer

Description

Arliss Howard (Full Metal Jacket) and three-time OscarÂ(r) nominee* Debra Winger (Terms of Endearment) "achieve a tempestuous chemistry" (E! Online) in this alternately poignantand funny film based on the stories of Mississippi writer Larry Brown. Co-starring Rosanna Arquette, Paul Le Mat and Angie Dickinson, Big Bad Love is "blazingly alive, admirable [and] marvelously cinematic" (The Hollywood Reporter)! A sexy publisher reads submissions on horseback. A house floods with the tears of an overprotective grandma. And a soldier braves a minefield to bring a toy to his kid. But nothing in the fantasy life of alcoholic writer Leon Barlow (Howard) can compare with his reality. From a fiery relationship with his ex-wife (Winger) to enough rejectionslips to spell out the word "failure," it's no wonder Leon escapes into his imagination until a tragedy forces him to focus on tying his two estranged worlds back together. *1993: Actress, Shadowlands; 1983: Actress, Terms of Endearment; 1982: Actress, An Officer and a Gentleman

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The Angst of Arliss.......2007-03-14

If everything in your life is going well, you'll likely regard this story as somewhat frustrating. For once could you NOT be drunk, Barlow?? But if you have unfulfilled dreams and are struggling without sympathy or support, and face it, most of us have been there at one time or another, then you'll find this one of the most compelling, engaging stories ever. The character of Leon Barlow (Arliss Howard) is both complex and perplexing. You'll want to watch this more than once. And get the sound track too -- awesome music!

4 out of 5 stars Don't forget Larry.......2006-03-22

I bought this DVD for my brother's birthday because he has almost all of Larry Brown's books (as does my wife) and neither had heard of "Big Bad Love". To me this movie is more about Larry Brown than Arliss Howard or Debra Winger, who most of the critics discuss rather than its resemblance to an autobiography of Brown.

If you have read any of Brown's books, you will soon realize that you probably can't get through all of them -- too much this, or too much that, as your tastes dictate. So it is with this movie. Winger gives the movie credibility and is probably the best reason to see it.

For those of you who think the movie setting is hokum, leave the University campus and take a quick swing around Oxford where Brown lived and worked until his untimely death. Mixed in with all the ante bellum homes, oak lined boulevards, new mansions, University professors, Faulkner festivals and professional people, you will find just the kind of people and neighborhoods portrayed in this movie.

4 out of 5 stars Big Bad Love Good.......2006-02-23

Unusually good adaptation of a set of stories by Larry Brown, strung together into a good script and very well acted on all accounts. If you're a struggling writer, it will make you laugh, and then you'll be back into your normal depression at how the publishing mill spits out great writers in favor of hacks every day.

3 out of 5 stars Never getting used to rejection.......2006-01-30

"Some dreams ruin being awake if you know the difference. Best not to know."

In high school I spent the night over at a friend's house. We lived out in the country. He wanted to watch "Pink Floyd: The Wall." He said you had to be on drugs to really get it. He didn't have any drugs, but he said if we watched the movie really late at night, being half-awake and half-asleep, that it might give the same experience. Watching "Big Bad Love" reminded me of that night, even though I watched it wide awake on a Sunday afternoon. It's what "The Wall" might've been if Roger Waters had been a writer who'd grown up in Mississippi.

I think I needed to read Larry Brown's book of short stories before I watched this so I could have better appreciated the film's narrative. Halfway through, I gave up trying to connect with any of the multiple storylines and started watching it as an expressionist portrait of a writer's struggle. This is Arliss (Men Don't Leave) Howard's directorial debut -- he also plays the main character, Barlow. Howard has been acting for over twenty years, and this seems like a film packed with all the ideas from a notebook kept during that time of scenes he'd want to direct whenever he got the opportunity. Those scenes are gorgeously shot, and are filled with powerful small moments - the opening sex scene with Marilyn (Debra Winger) in a bathtub wearing a wedding gown, Barlow and best friend Monroe (Paul Le Mat) chasing after the Flasher in their pick-up truck, the scenes with Rosanna Arquette -- but the overall narrative structure is so disjointed that it made it difficult for me to become emotionally engaged with anyone other than Barlow. This is a shame because the supporting players all deliver strong performances that are all lost in Barlow's detached, tormented, inebriated perspective. Then again, maybe that's the point. Howard inhabits Barlow on the screen and behind the camera. There's a tragedy late in the story that provides some focus, but the film never really loses its hallucinatory feel.

Also, the soundtrack is worth checking out if you're into eclectic blues. In the film, there's a scene in a bar featuring the late R.L. Burnside performing "Snake Drive" as Barlow punches some guy's lights out.

5 out of 5 stars Didn't know what to expect.......2004-10-21

I've read some Larry Brown novels but not the short story this movie was based on -- this might have been a good thing. I had no particular expectations, except that the movie would be about a writer and that, as with other Brown characters, the writer would be frustrated and maybe drunk.

I'm *not* a writer, so this is hard for me to explain -- but watching Big Bad Love was like being in Brown's head. What a great experience. I can't think of any other film that's done this. I enjoyed every second, and I'd like to thank Arliss Howard and everyone involved for doing it.

3 out of 5 stars Is it a Psychological Drama, and Odd Couple Movie, or a Thriller?.......2007-01-04

Unfortunately, this movie doesn't know what kind of movie it is. It starts out as a psychological drama, even an odd couple movie, but then suddenly, unexpectedly veers into a thriller. If they wanted it to be a thriller, they needed to show more of the evil side of 'Fats' much earlier in the movie. If they wanted it to be a psychological drama, then they needed to peacefully overcome the evil of 'Fats' to show that Bobby could have a fulfilling life, even with his intellectual limitations. Both aspects of the movie are very good, but they simply don't reasonably fit together. Because the acting of John Hurt and Christian Bale is excellent, it is worth watching. (Rarely is a normal intelligence actor able to believably play a truly simple character, but Mr. Bale does the best job I've ever seen.)

4 out of 5 stars Nice, that they fixed the DVD description!.......2006-03-13

Unfortunately, I purchased this movie from Amazon when they were still claiming that it was available in a wide screen format! Alas, when it arrived in fullscreen, I was really bummed out. It's a great film and as such, it really deserves a proper presentation. I suggest following it up with a viewing of American Psycho. The polarity of Bale's performances in each of these films is almost frightening....

3 out of 5 stars Nice enough, but not a great film.......2005-09-27

I am a big fan of Christian Bale and of John Hurt. They both do their very best with these characters and I'm certain that with less talented actors this could have been an abysmal film. However extra points are awarded for the moral soundness expressed in Hurt's character devoting his life to giving a decent burial to Britain's roadkill. I do the same on a much smaller scale with native animals in my local area.

Noticeable flaws in the logic of the plot and some cheesy direction make this film seem rather like a B-grade childrens' soapie.

4 out of 5 stars Absolutely Beautiful .......2005-09-12

As has been noted, this is an allegorical film and people will often divide down the middle over allegories. If you appreciate them and like digging beneath the surface, this is a remarkable film in a great many regards. Even as just a basic tale, the film works and is given outstanding performances by the three principal actors. Not enough good can be said about Christian Bale, who is maturing one of the finest actors we have today. Here, Bale is playing his exact age, 24, but looks no more than 17. As Bobby is mildly retarded due to a childhood accident of which he has more than one scar to serve as reminder, he is eternally a boy trapped in a man's body. When it comes to playing "damaged goods" Bale pulls off the nearly impossible, making you forget the actor and see only the character. (This was my primary difficulty with Forrest Gump, where everything seemed to draw attention to Mr. Hanks' brilliant "acting.")

Bobby isn't too dim to sense the evil of his stepfather "The Fat" aka Mr. De Winter, and upon his mother's death, realizes the man is out to do him serious harm. By refusing to sign over to The Fat, his inheritances, including the family's successful London department store, Bobby has sealed his fate. The Fat is going to have him declared mad and institutionalized for the remainder of his life. Bobby escapes the mansion, and wends his way towards Cornwall in search of his grandfather. The journey is brief, but symbolic as he finds rides along the trek, a young, hippy family in a van, complete with happy little dog, and an odious trucker whose zest for killing animals in the road causes his death. Wanting to help the trapped, barely alive trucker we stumble upon Mr. Summers (John Hurt) an odd hermit with a few affectations and full of mystery. An unlikely relationship develops between the two men, as Bobby finally finds the father figure denied him all his life. Summers takes Bobby in and instructs him in "The Work" - caring for the burial of animals killed at the hands (and wheels) of man. These scenes, shot in and around Cornwall, are dazzling . . . breathtakingly beautiful.

Inevitably their idyllic existence gives way to the reemergence of The Fat and confrontation, danger, resolution and acceptance. It's a beautiful tale of good versus evil and innocence versus cunning. The acting is uniformly excellent, with a truly stunning performance by Mr. Bale.

    Description

Words collide with image and music. The result is pure Poetry!

It's been said that all things seen and heard have already been recorded by man. The magic in creating fresh new work is in finding a different way of assembling the treasures you have collected.

In RAVE we have reached back in time and gathered wisdom sayings from great poets and film from great cinematographers and created a complex brew that nourishes the soul as it stimulates the mind. Designed to challenge, provoke and inspire, these films hit on a broad spectrum of social, political and spiritual issues while effortlessly cutting across traditional lines of gender, race, religion and ethnicity.

Great poetry is naturally rhythmic and infused with image and symbol - qualities that enable them, like great religious texts, to trigger a deep emotional and spiritual response. In these powerful films, we endeavored to create an audio/visual balance that allows the spirit of each poem to shine through the screen while providing the viewer space to experience each poem as it speaks to him or her.

Each of our eight poems has been crafted into a short film with its own unique image set and soundtrack. The short films have then been carefully sequenced to hold the viewers full attention while always trying to keep him slightly off balance - a place where possibilities arise.

Mixing original footage with obscure gems from far and wide, you will find yourself on the front seat of the Cyclone in 1940's Coney Island, scrambling for cover in present day Iraq or on the Space Shuttle looking back at earth. Maybe you'd prefer hanging out in a smoky Tango bar in 1922 Argentina, participating in a Union strike during the Great Depression, wandering the desert in Israel looking for meaning or dancing with a tribe of American Indians in 1895.

    Have we created some magic?

Cover your ears and let the beautiful streaming imagery take you on a journey not bound by words or rhythm.

Close your eyes and let the poetry and music pull images out of your own imagination.

Sit back and fully experience some of the distilled wisdom of the human race

    Product Description

Words collide with image and music. The result is pure Poetry! It's been said that all things seen and heard have already been recorded by man. The magic in creating fresh new work is in finding a different way of assembling the treasures you have collected. In RANT, and it's sister films RAVE and RIFF we have reached back in time and gathered wisdom sayings from great poets and film from great cinematographers and created a complex brew that nourishes the soul as it stimulates the mind. Each of our seven poems has been crafted into a short film with its own unique image set and soundtrack. Sit back and fully experience some of the distilled wisdom of the human race!

2 out of 5 stars OVERRATED Euro Trash.......2007-09-11

This movie was supposed to be so gory, so scary, such good make-up. I didn't see any of that. I saw poor acting (expected though), more dialouge than action,& funny looking NOT scary zombies. I bought this based on reviews that said it was cheesy, fun, zombie lovers dream come true kinda flick, boy were those reviews WRONG! I love crappy, cheesy, gory, funny/scary zombie flicks. This however was STUPID. Yeah big deal, a woman gets her nipple chewed off by a midget who plays the role of her perverse son. The special effects were anything but special. IT was OK at best. Nothing I'd watch again.

5 out of 5 stars Impressive zombie flick!.......2007-09-02

After the slew of zombie movie purchases I made recently, I came upon "Burial Ground" with my expectations set at a "Hell of the Living Dead" level, and man was I wrong! If you're sifting through B-movies looking for that hidden gem, this is it right here! This is the ultimate sci-fi type zombie movie that really delivers on the blood, guts, and sex.

The bare bones plot goes as follows: Scientist unintentionally awakens the dead, then invites some folks for a stay in his mansion to satisfy the hunger of the zombies. The pacing of this film is the best you could ask for in a zombie flick, about 10 minutes of introduction, then it cuts right to the chase, no time wasted on character development or intricate plot. From then on, it's a rampage of the rotting corpes in paper mache masks, gratuitous nudity, and monumentally wooden acting with all the uninspired dialogue you could ask for. Just to really push this movie over the top, it features a mother/son incestuous relationship in which the son is played by a dwarf! All culminating in the corpses victory over the living!

Finally, I feel that I just have to comment on the soundtrack of Burial Ground. This is what really makes the movie. It's this weird ambient noise with these super strange futuristic sound effects over it, volume swells with robot noises...I can't even describe it, it's truly wild.

Burial Ground is really out there. If you can understand what you're getting into by even watching a movie like this, you're going to love it.

5 out of 5 stars I would have given this movie 10 stars if they let me!!.......2007-06-26

I have to admit I really thought I was not going to like this movie, but something inside of me just told me to purchase it. In the begining the movie is all over the place, and at times I found myself asking what the hell is going on, but soon the action picked up. This movie has ALOT of great scenes in it, and one scene that probably made it one of the weirdest moments in horror history. This movie also has one of the best slaughter scenes I have ever seen in my life. Do yourself a favor and pick this up!!

5 out of 5 stars This should be THE Halloween movie.......2007-05-01

I can just see this film being played on local channels on Halloween Day. It seems the most popular Halloween film is "Night Of The Living Dead". However, if this one was released before Night Of the Living Dead, I think it would have been the ultimate zombie classic film instead. Truly, just pure fun and the best zombies on film. And what is up with reviewers saying "it doesn't make sense why the zombies come back to life", like um, there is a rational explanation in any other zombie flick?

3 out of 5 stars Weird zombie movie.......2006-10-16

This is a pretty strange zombie movie. The zombie masks are well made, but the music is over the top and distracts rather than add to the atmosphere, like the music in "Zombie Flesh Eaters" and "The Beyond" did. The dubbing is pretty bad and the entire movie is set during the day when it's light outside, which doesn't really make it more scary. Overall, the movie is more funny than scary, and there are some really bizarre details, like the "boy" (who seems to be played by a dwarf) who wants to have sex with his mother.

"Burial Ground" is not a great movie, but it's still quite entertaining as long as you don't expect a good and scary horror movie.

3 out of 5 stars Trinity take off........2007-01-10

Well made take off of the Trinity movies. Follows the origionals very well. Actors are unknown to me but at one time so were Tereence Hill & Bud Spencer. Watch it.

    4 out of 5 stars A Western Farce.......2005-11-09

The Trinity movies were western comedies which succeeded not because of production values (they didn't have any) but because they were hilarious. Terrence Hill and Bud Spenser made them so. That made a "son's of" movie a dangerous prospect. Could a new cast of characters recapture the hilarity?

They do. Two unknowns play the parts of the sons of Trinity and Bambino and capture their mannerisms well. They clean up a western town, right the wrongs and pick up the laughs. The quality of the film is improved as well. It works.

Many of the situations are frankly absurd. That is part of what makes it funny. Try this one for some cheap laughs.

3 out of 5 stars Sons of Trinity.......2005-09-11

This was a 'fair attempt' at revisiting the Trinity Movies.
The 'background' cast members were folk from both the first two movies. If your Looking for Terrence or Bud you won't find them here. I was Dissapointed that the 'sons' had the same names.
It would have been a better movie without calling them 'Trinity and Bambino'.

I Did like the movie, although at times, it felt strained, like they were trying too much to capture what only Mr Hill and Mr Spencer had in the originals.
I liked to see alot of the same villians and shop keeps etc from the other movies, that was nice to see.

    1 out of 5 stars interesting..........2005-07-11

That's rare about cast (never again seen). It's the clone of the italian "Trinità" with Terence Hill and Bud Spencere.
    Technical quality is horrible.
