Description

Sparkling with good-natured humor, this light, hilarious story follows Vovochka, a spontaneous, indefatigable ten-year-old boy, an ever-inventive daredevil who happens to be quite a handful for the grown-ups around him. With his arrival on the eve of the New Year holidays, a quiet suburban Moscow village blows up both figuratively and literally.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Silly.......2004-03-05

The direction is a little heavy handed, and the acting is far from top-notch, but what a lot of fun it is too see Vova getting into trouble! The film touches on many aspects of modern Russian life -- from the traditional Russian Vovochka jokes and terrorism to corrupt cops. The wide-eyed boy who plays Vova is a bit reminiscent of M.C. in "Home Alone." And Yury Shevchuk, the lead singer of the legendary rock group DDT, makes an appearance.
