The audience for this rickety spoof is probably limited to three groups: diehard fans of Elvira, cultists of '60s horror (specifically the Edgar Allan Poe and Hammer offerings), and people who believe rim-shot, borscht belt humor ought to be brought back. The last group apparently includes Cassandra Peterson, the comedian who dreamed up Elvira; her fondness for vaudeville one-liners is either groan-worthy or infectious, depending on your tolerance for such things. Sample: "The village people say this castle is evil." "Ah, who listens to the Village People any more?" Ouch. Her Mae-West-meets-Vampira shtick wears surprisingly well at feature length (1988's Elvira, Mistress of the Dark is actually a pretty good time), although this movie simply runs out of material halfway through. Bonus: Rocky Horror genius Richard O'Brien contributes some amusing ravings as a mysterious Carpathian castle owner, pining away for a dead wife who suspiciously resembles our heroine. --Robert Horton

THIS ONE FALLS A LITTLE SHORT OF ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE NIGHT, BUT IS STILL ENJOYABLE VIEWING. IT IS MORE OF A PLOT THING THAN ANYTHING ELSE. IF YOU ARE A ELVIRA FAN, YOU'LL STILL WANT TO WATCH THIS ONE.

if you saw the Vincent Price/Roger Corman films The House of Usher, The Pit and the Pendulum and The Tomb of Ligea, you have the basic idea of Elvirs's Haunted Hills

The laughes are few and so far apart that wonder when the comedy comes. Elvira is in her baudy, busty best. however her one liners seem stale in this comedy. Elvira is in Better form here than she was in her previous film, Elvira Mistress of the Dark

Rocky Horror Picture Show's Richard O'Brien whines and mugs for the camera too much as he plays Lord Vladimere Hellsubus.

The supporting cast of semi unknowns ham it up for camera with bit gags that are hit or miss.

If you like good satire mixed with bad one liners, this piece is for you. Vincent Price, who was a friend of Elvira, must be rolling in his grave..laughing at this send up of his work

Funnier Than the First.......2007-05-20

If all of you remember Elvira's first movie, you are truly going to love this movie a lot (maybe better than the first movie). If your into comedy/horror and your a true fan of Elvira and her comedy type ways, then you will enjoy this film. This film is dedicated to the late Vincent Price (which the movie focuses on most of Price's classics) and Elvira does what she does best by hamming it up and poking fun with her "dark" humor ways. This film is truly a blast. Recommended to all Elvira fans!

It may be trash but it is really cute trash. Just the thing to watch while passing out candy on October 31. More then a few grins for the price!

Enjoy two of the all-time great Z-grade horror gems, hosted by the one and only Elvira!

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD ushered in a new wave of zombie movies. Directed by George A. Romero, the story concerns a group of ragtag survivors from an apocalyptic zombie invasion. Poor Barbra (Judith O'Dea) is driven to madness as she watches her brother being mauled to death. Judith O'Dea's kooky performance is one of the main fan highlights; the overall standard of acting is quite average (ie: it's very hard to tell the difference between zombies and the regular people). This merely adds to the feeling of the film. Top trash!

HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, starring Vincent Price, is the more stylish movie of the two featured on this disc. Price is a hoot playing the deranged millionaire who challenges a group of nitwits to last the night in a haunted house. Prime turns from classic scream queens Carolyn Craig and Carol Ohmart, plus some memorable special effects from William Castle make this a must-see. Plastic skeletons, old hags on conveyor belts, fun times...

Elvira is an absolute scream as she hosts these films, occasionally popping up during the films to cast a wry comment on the action (and no doubt to wake up those to have started to nod off). Viewers also have the option to watch the films without the Elvira bits. These films are always good value, and with the legendary Elvira, they are better than ever!
