Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars It's what you know but Roizen gives the scientific facts.......2007-03-05

Come on. You know you shouldn't smoke, eat refined flour and sugar, and need to exercise. Too many of us are in denial and Dr. Roizen gives the straight scoop. If you need to know the whys, then this is a great book. There's no substitute for healthy habits and this may be the kick in the pants you need. Who wants a heart attack in their 40's.

4 out of 5 stars Practical Tips for Improving Health.......2007-02-02

Dr. Roizen offers easy, practical tips for improving health and well being through diet and exercise. His suggestions apply to the 50- or 60-something as easily as it does the 30-something. It's a great place to start if you're looking to take better care of yourself.

4 out of 5 stars Grow Younger - Control How You Age.......2007-02-01

Dr. Roizen presents his ideas on how you can not only feel healthier, he explains how simple lifestyle changes can produce dramatic results, actually causing your body to feel younger. What is your Real Age? Can you really grow younger?

If you do absolutely nothing, you will continue to age. If you take simple steps like walking 30 minutes a day Dr. Roizen believes you can dramatically alter the course of aging. He talks about taking aspirin, the importance of sleep and why using olive oil is an excellent choice. I was surprised by his advice on coffee and you may want to read up on how caffeine affects aging.

Some of the main features of this short program include discussions about bone mass, muscle mass, blood pressure, exercise, dangers of saturated fat, breathing techniques to reduce stress, life-long learning and the biggest stressors to deal with first.

I learned a few helpful things while watching this DVD, especially the information on Vitamin D, which I think everyone has to worry about. This was very easy to solve with fortified orange juice - Calcium and Vitamin D. I was happy to find out that the orange juice my husband has been buying does have Vitamin D! One less thing to worry about!

While this DVD is interesting, I think I'll also buy the book to read more detailed information on all the topics addressed in the lecture.

5 out of 5 stars The Real Age Makeover: Book and DVD.......2007-01-04

Very important information contained in the pages of this book. I also bought the DVD. I watch Drs. Roizen and Oz on the Oprah Show whenever possible. I wish she would produce a weekly show called "You, the Owner's Manual." Learning about our bodies and how they work is the most important education of all.

5 out of 5 stars How great was it?.......2007-01-04

It was so great that I gave them as stocking stuffers to my brothers, principal, and a good friend. We're all 50+ and looking for sensible ways to stay healthy. This DVD does just that, while explaining Why! We love it.

Product Description

Barely out of their teens when they got together, Matt and Khym spent many years generously taking care of others instead of concentrating on themselves. Now in their thirties, Matt and Khym are taking the time to rediscover the joys of married life and married sex.

"Director Tony Comstock shows what it looks like when two people who are in love have sex. It's beautiful--the antithesis of shapeless, boring porn in which everyone is just going through the motions." -- Oprah Winfrey's O Magazine

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars A loving and sexually honest, real couple.......2007-08-24

Matt and Khym is a wonderful introduction into the joys of married sex. When you look at this movie, you can see the genuine love Matt and Khym have for each other. Matt and Khym are so candid in talking about their life in and out of the bedroom that you come away feeling like they could be your next door neighbors or close friends. The scene at the end of their lovemaking when Matt looks lovingly at Khym is the way any girl would want her guy to look at her. I replayed the promo at Tony Comstock's web site over and over again, just to see that look.

This is definitely not your typical porn movie. Half of the movie involves talking interspersed with clips of their love making. I recommend couples watch the whole movie in the living room, and then move on to the bedroom.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful and believable.......2007-06-17

This is the first of the Comstock movies I've seen, but it absolutely won't be the last. This really is something different - "documentary" erotica, about a real couple not so different from anyone else.

The first half of the movie features the two talking to a silent, unseen interviewer. They describe their relationship, from the time they met, to their wedding (surprisingly like my own), through years of a complex and full home life. Throughout, they describe the career of their physical relationship at each period. It comes across as happy and a bit ordinary - I like that, it creates a kind of comfort with the couple that I don't have good words for, and teases me into caring about them.

The interview is broken into segments of a few minutes each, interleaved with moments from their bedroom love-making. That seems natural, too, the kinds of activities and positions I've enjoyed rather than bizarre contortions to create some camera angle. The interview ends about halfway through the movie. At that point, the bedroom scene restarts, then plays beyond what we saw in the first half. Because the interview made the two seem more real, my own arousal comes from theirs as if they're sharing it with me - not vicarious or voyeuristic, but friendly.

If you've been put off by adult films in the past, you probably had good reason: negative tone, forced activities and pacing, and people that look like plastic and sound worse. There's none of that here. It's warm, private, and above all happy - and isn't that what a love life should be?

5 out of 5 stars Tony Comstock is better than ever with his latest glimpse behind the couple's door.......2007-04-05

Tony Comstock is the creator and master of a new genre of films: explicit couples' sexuality documentaries. Comstock states that "intent to arouse" is often cited as the dividing line between art and porn. Of all the emotions a director might hope to induce in an audience, arousal remains the last taboo, and Tony Comstock takes it head-on.

Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever is an affirmation of married love and sexual exploration. The pair got together in their early twenties, and now after over a decade of marriage, the spark is still there. Comstock's other films feature a porn couple, a hip New York pair, and young gay lovers, so this look at married love is an exiting new angle in his series.

Amazon also carries Comstock titles Marie & Jack (Comstock's first film, with married pornographic actors), and Xana & Dax (an older blonde and her Brazilian lover). I only wished they also carried his first-rate gay male feature Damon & Hunter.

5 out of 5 stars Hooray for love!.......2007-02-19

Matt and Khym are a beautifully sexy, real life couple and I was completely charmed as I listened to them tell their story in the documentary style interview that opens this wonderful film and totally captivated to witness their lovemaking in the erotic scene that followed.

They seem to enjoy themselves in front of the camera in a way that welcomes us as viewers into their intimate life and into their bedroom with a disarming frankness that's become a trademark of Tony Comstock's films. As a result, this lovely film has been welcomed into my own bedroom on a number of occasions!

Not only do Matt and Khym shine and bubble over with a tender enthusiam for each other that seems to make them literally sparkle, but the film itself has the most beautiful lustre. It has a look that lends weight to the idea that love, sex, pleasure and intimacy are indeed important and special and wonderful. With his distinctive style, Tony Comstock has once again cleverly combined visual beauty, sexual heat, genuine chemistry, sympathetic characters and compelling real life stories into an erotic, well crafted film that I'm delighted to recommend.

Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever, just like all the other sexy Comstock Films I've enjoyed, was a real pleasure to watch alone and a great joy to share with a lover. It's sex filmed with grace, style and skill, with respect for the lovers and for the viewer.

Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever shines!

5 out of 5 stars Utterly Beautiful.......2007-02-15

I was so moved and delighted by this DVD that I emailed Tony Comstock to tell him that as soon as I got done watching it. For those who have misgivings about the content or quality of mainstream porn, this offering from Comstock may be just what you're looking for in that it is genuine, heartfelt, and sexy. For those like me who do delve a fair amount into mainstream porn, I recommend Matt and Khym as a magnificent and refreshing testament to how hot the depiction of genuine sex in the context of obvious true love can be. Very highly recommended.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting.......2007-09-07

First, I want to say that the slurping and kissing noises are way too overpowering in this documentary. The second thing is that this didn't make me think AT ALL. It was stereotypical and the guys really didn't turn me on in the slightest. If you really want a movie that makes you think and follows this sort of genre, then get "Short Bus".

5 out of 5 stars Damon and Hunter.......2007-08-04

I purchased this fantastic DVD just from reading the advertising and review. I absolutely loved it. Finally my voyeurism was rewarded with, as Tony Comstock so aptly put it, 'real sex.' I am one of the few people in the world that wonders how anybody 'gets off' on commercially produced porn...it defies my sexual sensibilities.

5 out of 5 stars Hands down my favorite Comstock title (and all of his titles are first rate).......2007-04-19

I bought all of Comstock's collection at the urgings of the editorial team over at the Feddy & Eddy website. Comstock is a genius, and Damon and Hunter is my hands-down favorite of all his titles. For reference, his other titles include Marie and Jack (Comstock's first film, with married pornographic actors), Xana and Dax (an experienced NY blonde and her younger Brazilian lover), Matt & Khym (a 30-something married couple), and Ashley & Kisha (a lesbian couple). Damon and Hunter is the story of two gay male lovers, and I encourage viewers of any sexual orientation to pick this one up. I'm a heterosexual female and I can assure you that both my partner and I enjoyed this one.

Damon and Hunter found one another as roommates in New York City, and started a sexual relationship before their romantic one. One is a Canadian from a family in which they gays outnumber the straights, and the other was raised as a tried-and-true Southern Christian. In the first half of the film, they discuss their love life, attraction, relationship history, and personal turn-ons in frank terms. Who actually doesn't enjoy anal action during stimulation? Was one worried about handling the size of the other? What are their rules for outside guests in the bedroom? The second half of the movie is movie is pure intimate action.

The DVD comes complete with a bonus track showing alternate camera angles, including an optional audio commentary from Tony and Peggy Comstock. The camera angles would be of interest to cinematography students, but for the casual fan, I recommend sticking with the terrific editing job Comstock did for the main film. The audio commentary contains insights about how Comstock finds his subjects (I guess you can find someone to do anything on Craigslist) and his movie-making strategy. Buy this film to enjoy again and again, both as a documentary piece and as erotic cinema, and look to the audio commentary and previews of other titles when you want to go deeper.

Product Description

Comstock Films offers a new vision of couples' sexuality in this groundbreaking series of documentary-style features of real-life lovers. Xana and Dax are a study in contrasts: she's blonde and buxom, he's dark and lean; she's got life experience, he's younger and eager to learn. Now you can get to know this exuberant husband and wife in a uniquely intimate way.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!.......2007-09-13

I was hesitant to buy Xana and Dax to watch with my wife for obvious reasons. Watching an erotic film seems like it should be a fun way to get things going, but the few times we've tried it we ended up just feeling dirty and sad. Xana and Dax was just SPECTACULAR. It delivered in every way - the story was sweet, the sex was hot and it left us both in a frisky mood and ready to have fun! I highly recommend it to anyone looking to add some spark to their relationship!

2 out of 5 stars A bit misleading.......2007-09-11

Tony Comstock's films are labeled "Real People, Real Life, Real Sex." While the "real people" and "real sex" lines are true, the "real life" ... well, that's not entirely the case, and that comes into play with his second film "Xana and Dax."

Xana is a buxom, tattooed and pierced Midwestern blonde; Dax, eight years her junior, is a slim dark Brazilian. Like Comstock's other films, the first part is the couple talking about what got them together and what they love about each other; the second part is a admittedly erotic sex scene. Unlike Comstock's other films, which seem to invite the viewer into the couple's bedroom, Xana and Dax's sex scenes take place on a dark set with a brightly lit white bed. If you Google "Xana and Dax" you will quickly learn that, as the couple in Comstock's first film "Marie and Jack" were, they are porn actors, with the difference being that they don't deal with any outside actors (unless, as per Xana's website, you count women for girl-on-girl scenes). While it's obvious they're a couple, there are also more of the conventional porn elements in this film compared to Comstock's other films, namely Xana's physical appearance, which may be offputting for some viewers. Although this was the Comstock film that "O" magazine raved about, I would be hesitant to show this to the adult film neophyte. While "Xana and Dax" is miles above your average porn in quality, it's not Comstock's best.

5 out of 5 stars In love and making love.......2007-08-16

Comstock has developed a truly enjoyable formula. The disc begins with the couple talking to an unseen interviewer. They summarize the history of their relationship briefly but spend a good bit more time talking about each other - their real love for each other, and especially for each other's bodies comes across throughout. It's something I know and value in my own life, the sense of beauty that deepens with affection. It would be easy to look at one or the other and see nothing special, until you see each through the other's eyes. My own beloved is an enchanting beauty, to me, but her beauty seems hidden in plain sight from almost everyone else.

Scenes in the interview alternate with sequences from the bedroom, illustrating points they make in the interview and setting a happily erotic mood. Then, about halfway through the disc, we switch completely to the bedroom. For the next twenty minutes or so, we follow this loving couple from their initial caresses and undressings, through the full heat of their lovemaking, to a warm, lazy moment at the very end. If you've been turned off by other "adult movies," the pervasive sense of affection and play will be a pleasant change. You may also enjoy the feeling that loving people don't have to meet some standard of plastic perfection - just being a regular person is pretty special, to someone who loves you. I don't know how to describe the tone of the movie, but I feel as if a nice couple with something to share has invited me over for a special evening. That very last frame, when Xana gazes dreamily into the camera, seems to say that she's glad that you, the viewer, could be part of what's so wonderful between them. I am grateful to them for their gentle, generous offer.

5 out of 5 stars The gold standard for a new genre of arousing, intimate documentary films.......2007-04-03

Tony Comstock is the creater and master of a new genre of films: explicit couples' sexuality documentaries. Comstock states that "intent to arouse" is often cited as the dividing line between art and porn. Of all the emotions a director might hope to induce in an audience, arousal remains the last taboo, and Tony Comstock takes it head-on.

In Comstock's award-winning Xana and Dax: When Opposites Attract, he stays true to his mission of showing flesh in the context of intimacy and love. The conversation between husband and wife is in many ways more revealing than the pure sex, as the two discuss their initial attraction, personal turn-ons, secret desires, and intimate moments. In this case, Xana, the pale blonde with a gorgeous full-color back piece, is the older and more experienced of the two. Brazilian Dax is shyer about his sexuality and reveals some of his early fears about his body hair and lovemaking style.

The DVD is straightforward and to-the-point. The first half consists of a conversation with Xana and Dax, with brief segments from their lovemaking style interspersed within the narrative. The second half is an uninterrupted bedroom session (outtakes from which are what add spice to the first half of the move). The viewer is a part of their bedroom, and at no time does it appear that the director has interrupted to give them any cinematic tips. This is raw and intimate, beautifully shot, with no exaggeration or acting.

This is recommended along with the other Comstock Films advertised on the DVD. Just watch the outtakes and you'll be rushing out to purchase Marie & Jack (Comstock's first film, with married pornographic actors), Damon & Hunter (a male gay couple), Ashley & Kisha (a female lesbian couple), and Matt & Khym (a 30-something married couple).

5 out of 5 stars Sparks fly when opposites attract!.......2007-03-16

In teaming up with filmmaker, Tony Comstock, Xana and Dax get to tell us their love story and show us their lovemaking. It's a beautiful and delightfully sexy tale, just like a good love story should be, and exactly the kind of story I love.

There's Xana -- all blonde, creamy smooth skin and lovely curves and then there's her handsome, dark haired, Brazilian husband, Dax -- she's a little bold -- he's a little shy -- on the surface they do indeed appear to be opposites, but as we hear their story, we learn just how close and complementary they truly are. When we see them make love, it's confirmed without a doubt. These two enjoy themselves with the unhurried grace of a couple who've come to know each other well, with the assured, confident moves of soul mates who know what it takes to turn each other on and with the ease of real life lovers whose motivation is pure pleasure. Their pleasure quickly becomes ours.

In making a film that lets the lovers shine, Tony Comstock allows some of that warmth to spill over onto us.The filmmaker seems to indulge the viewer, wanting us to see everything he sees and much more -- it's a generous kind of filmmaking that presents sex in an elegantly explicit but almost defiantly straightforward way.

The DVD is a very good looking production from the box cover, disc titles, the clear, simple and easy to navigate menu to the paragraphs of text that introduce and provide context for the clips that follow. There are four extended trailers included for the other currently available Comstock Films Marie & Jack: A Hardcore Love Story, Damon & Hunter: Doing It Together Love, Ashley & Kisha: The Right Fit, and Matt & Khym: Better Than Ever.

Xana and Dax is a very sexy love story -- one that starts sparks flying in our household regularly. I recommend it highly.

Get Real begins with a couple of hedgehogs having sex, and deals with a topic just as prickly: gay love in adolescence. Steve (Ben Silverstone) is a student at a British school where everyone wears classy uniforms, knows he's gay, and is pretty comfortable being so. John (Brad Gorton), a top athlete and all-around admired guy, is just getting an inkling and isn't sure how he feels about it. This, cleverly, is how the movie manages to explore coming-out issues and be over them at the same time. In fact, the whole movie is pretty clever--witty dialogue, deft direction, nimble pacing, and clean editing--in exploring the seriousness of adolescent life without taking it too seriously. The key is in Silverstone's performance; he's a completely convincing mixture of hesitation and recklessness, all the conflicts of high school in one sweet-faced package. As the movie follows Steve and John's relationship--their evasions at school, getting picked up by the police in a park, goofing around in a heated swimming pool, grappling with coming out to the world at large--it lays out a bit of contrast with Steve's best friend Linda (Charlotte Brittain), who's as unapologetically fat as Steve is gay, and who's having an affair with her driving instructor. Excellent performances all around, funny, sexy, charming--if only straight teen comedies were half this good. Get Real even demonstrates the proper etiquette when soliciting sex in public restrooms; what more can you ask for? --Bret Fetzer

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars One of my very favorite movies.......2007-06-30

I love this movie. It's one of those magical little Brit flicks in which everything just works. It's also one of the very few films that I can watch again and again (with intervals of a few months in between) and still feel the same kind of emotional response.

No doubt much of my reaction is personal, and I suspect this movie is pretty much a gay thing. It may even be more specialized than that -- a gay thing for people who aren't American idiots, which would rule out much of the audience for teen-oriented entertainment, as evidenced by a couple of the more vapid reviews in this thread. So be warned if you are (a) straight, (b) stupid, (c) unable to tolerate non-Hollywood fare, or some ungodly combination of the above.

5 out of 5 stars Another must have.......2007-06-26

What a great movie! Great acting. Humor where you wouldn't expect it. A movie that makes you think. And what a great line to almost end the movie with: "It's just love! What is everyone so afraid of?" Not only was it entertaining, but I bought it at an apropos point in my life, and it has helped me during a couple of struggles. Wonderful when a movie can be thoroughly entertaining, insightful, and personally helpful.

2 out of 5 stars nice try.......2007-05-24

Almost hit the mark, deals with some serious issues, and funny in parts, but not extremly convincing. Still worth a spin, but needed some better casting.

5 out of 5 stars Very very good movie.......2007-03-18

This movie is about sadness, love, lies, loneliness, rumors and abusive!! This movie got me heartache and I almost cry the whole time. If you have never seen this movie oh my my!! You should buy it and see it for yourself!!

3 out of 5 stars A good coming out story.......2007-03-17

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit because it nicely depicted the complications that arise from being in the closet, ultimately coming out, and having to deal with the sad consequences of someone else's failure to be honest and truthful. Of course it's tough to be "real" when that is exactly what friends, family, and society often don't want to see, but in the long run it is just so much better than trying to live a lie and make yourself believe this is okay. In the film, I thought the writer did a nice job of showing how some people who appear to have everything actually end up with very little of true value while the "outcasts" often shine with true grit and integrity. Overall, this is a feel-good movie with a mostly good ending. The characters are great. You'll like it!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars For fun this time, not profit.......2007-08-31

Comstock does it again, presenting a brief and enjoyable documentary about one couple's love life. The entire presentation takes about forty minutes. Marie and Jack introduce themselves in the first half, talking about how they met, the challeneges of balancing work against their home life, and about their real devotion to each other and to their marriage. Their discussion includes a few physical details of their sex play, illustrated by cuts between the interview and a scene in their bedroom. (I just wish Jack wouldn't interrupt her so much - that really grates on me.) The second half of this study presents a longer look at their lovemaking, including the moments from shown in the interview. The lovers are clearly there for each other first, and for the camera second if at all.

This is what erotica is supposed to be, and so very rarely is. It shows a loving moment between a loving couple, generally doing things that I'd enjoy with my own beloved. After the interview at the start I feel that I know them, at least a little. I want to see them happy together, and that includes delighting each other sexually.

The unusual thing about this handsome couple is that they work as actors in the adult film industry, and generally work with other people. This leads to odd moments on the set, such as when some adult actor is introduced to Jack just before getting physical on camera with Jack's wife, marie. It also leads to some odd moments at home, thinking about how to act natural with each other after acting out exaggerations of other people's fantasies all day on the set. Maybe "acting natural" itself is an act for them - and maybe putting that concious effort into what the other wants isn't a bad thing.

Explicitly sexual videos are easy enough to find. Videos with genuine affection, gentle tone, and people you can care about are painfully rare, though. Jack and Marie give just that, the kind of erotica that sensitive viewers can whole-heartedly enjoy.

2 out of 5 stars Save your money.......2007-07-07

I'm surprised by these glowing reviews. They inspired me to buy the film, but I found the film itself deeply uninspiring. I bought it to watch with my boyfriend-- and we're new to couples' porn, so I wasn't after anything too intense-- but it was 28 minutes (28 minutes for $24!) and astoundingly dull. The commentary between the husband and wife is interesting for a glimpse into the real life of people in the porn industry, but neither their conversation nor the sex scenes are arousing to any notable degree. Mainly, as another reviewer wrote, they talk about the relatively "vanilla" nature of their home sex life, and about the corresponding intimacy. They seem to love each other and enjoy the sex, but, as a viewer, there isn't much to be excited about. I certainly won't buy any other Comstock films, despite the giddy reviews, and I'm returning this one.

5 out of 5 stars Tony Comstock invents a new genre of intimate, arousing documentaries starring real couples.......2007-04-05

Marie and Jack: A Hardcore Love Story marked Comstock's creation of the genre. Marie and Jack are a husband and wife pair who met while the both worked in the porn industry. Both are still active in the industry, and their on-screen antics are completely separate from what goes on behind their bedroom door. In intimate conversation, they reveal the ins and outs of their marriage and love life. They delight in the fact that their home sex life is relatively vanilla, with a few key positions and some signature moves that each knows turns the other on.

When Marie and Jack agreed to star in this documentary, they made a pact not to edit their sex life for the camera, but to create a revealing and intimate portrait of their life in the bedroom. This is the hands-down winner for any couple looking to watch erotic film together, and Comstock offers a number of other titles in this series for viewer who get hooked on the idea. Matt & Khym and Xana & Dax are two titles available from Amazon. I only wished they also carried his first-rate gay male feature Damon & Hunter.

5 out of 5 stars The search pays off!.......2007-03-26

A couple of years back I went seeking sexy films I might watch with my husband - something fun and erotic that we could share. Having trawled through acres of trite, poorly crafted, not very inspiring videos and on the verge of giving up the search, I had the luck to find Tony and Peggy Comstock and Comstock Films. I've been a fan ever since - hence the reviews!

Marie and Jack: A Hardcore Love Story, from director Tony Comstock, has been talked about a good deal and justifiably cooed over since its release in 2003. Reviewers one by one have succumbed to the film's charm. They've no doubt been beguiled, like I was, by the fresh faced enthusiasm that Jack and Marie demonstrate for each other, engaged by their good natured humour and captivated by witnessing the intimacy and pleasure of authentic sex between this real life couple, all skillfully captured buy a clever filmmaker.

As I discovered on my search, Marie and Jack seems to represent a rare find in explicit erotic material -- a film that truly celebrates sex as a joyous, intimate connection between people and does so in a way that clearly reminds us of why beautiful lovemaking is so enthralling and pleasurable to watch. I highly recommend this film.

Tony's other films including Xana and Dax: When Opposites Attract (Real People, Real Life, Real Sex series) are all a pleasure to watch.

5 out of 5 stars What a sex film should be.......2007-03-12

Along with his wife Peggy, filmmaker Tony Comstock makes a name for himself in filming real couples having sex. These are not the horrible "amateur" films one can find everywhere on the internet, but lovingly filmed and beautifully lit near-documentaries of couples who genuinely enjoy each other. "Marie and Jack: A Hardcore Love Story" was the first Comstock film, and if you have high standards for erotic films you won't be disappointed.

The couple--Marie Silva, a porn actress who works under the name of Aria, and her husband Jack Bravo, also a porn actor--talk frankly about their relationship and how their sex life intermeshes with their professional lives. Interspersed with their interview are the sex scenes. Despite their professions neither Marie nor Jack look like typical porn stars--they're good-looking, but not gorgeous; there are no fake breasts or painted faces or overly buff bodies or bad fake tans. About the most outrageous thing to be seen on either of them are Marie's silver-painted nails! The chemistry between them is palpable, which makes the sex scenes scorchingly hot. There is no overdone moaning or screaming or weird positions. It is voyeurism at its most intimate, but with much better camera angles.

This is a great couples film, as well as a good introduction for the sex film neophyte. Comstock Films has released three other films since "Marie and Jack"--one, "Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever" is also available on Amazon--but "Marie and Jack" remains a sentimental favorite of mine. It's always enjoyable to watch people having sex who look like they're actually having fun. Thank you, Tony and Peggy!

Product Description

Funny and tender, sexy and sweet, "Ashley and Kisha: Finding the Right Fit" is the fifth in Comstock Films' award-winning Real People, Real Life, Real Sex series. When they first met, Ashley was a lady-killer and proud of it; Kisha was sexually conservative and straight. But Ashley's doggy ways turned to dogged determination as she watched one after another of her surefire moves fail to get her into Kisha's pants. Finally, after weeks of failed seduction, Ashley's determination paid off: Kisha's ambivalence gave way to curiosity, her curiosity gave way to desire, and ultimately desire blossomed into love.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Finding The Right Fit With Audiences.......2007-06-15

Is Ashley and Kisha: Finding The Right Fit a film about two beautiful, black lesbian lovers from the South? Yes. Yes it is.

It's also a film about the ache of longing to be with someone very particular, the exquisite tension of the chase, the thrill of seduction, and the disarming sweetness of romance. It's a film about losing your heart, falling in love and in lust, and the joyous belly swooping pleasure of finding the right fit with someone who loves and desires you for who and what you are.

This tenderhearted, beautifully sexy film is certain to find the right fit with audiences everywhere. I also recommend Tony's Matt and Khym: Better Than Ever (Real People, Real Life, Real Sex series)

5 out of 5 stars A MUST companion.......2007-09-09

Not as "entertaining" as the 1978 Oscar winning version of "The Buddy Holly Story," but this video is a must have companion to that movie. Done with love and respect by all who participated, you get a real sense of what a decent and talented (in ways more than just musical) person that Buddy Holly was. The theatrical movie is a nice tribute, but "The Real Buddy Holly Story" is what every rock buff should view to appreciate the essence of Holly's greatness.

3 out of 5 stars It was okay.......2006-03-19

I didn't find anything different from other books and DVD's. It's basically the same information you can read or look up on the internet free.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent for Students of Criminal Psychology.......2006-03-16

Gives you the facts, and also the opinions of various Serial Killer experts. It gives you the stories of some of the world's most horrifying examples of human depravity. Overall it is an essential part of a true student of criminal psychology's collection.

4 out of 5 stars A good starting point.......2004-04-30

This documentary primarily covers the psychological profiles and exploits of three particular serial killers (Albert Fish, Andrei Chikatilo, and Jeffrey Dahmer), and features various psychologists, authors, pioneering FBI profiler Robert Ressler, and the prosecuting and defense attorneys of the Jeffrey Dahmer trial discussing their thoughts on the events. Also given a look are the factors, conditions, and motivations that might lead someone to become a serial killer. And, as suggested by the show's title, the most infamous fictional serial killer Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter is discussed, compared and contrasted to his real-life counterparts.

While I found the presentation reasonably informative, the subject matter tended to be a bit dry at times: much of the show consisted of psychobabble from experts in the study of serial killers. Another somewhat low point was a bit of misleading advertisement: although they're featured prominently on the front of the DVD cover box, Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy are given only minimum coverage. Gacy is talked about a little bit in the show itself, but is covered in greater detail in the disc's bonus feature, a five-minute-long interview with Robert Ressler. As for Bundy, his only real presence in this show were a few quotes that popped up between chapter breaks.

Another bit of somewhat misleading advertising is the blurb on the back of the DVD case that states, "shocking never-before-seen footage" of the criminals and their horrid acts. Aside from a few scenes from the classic "night of the Living Dead" flicks, a few reenactment shots of Andrei Chikatilo drooling blood whilst hiding his latest victim in a pile of leaves, and a few black-and-white pics of Dahmer's beat-in brain in a formaldehyde jar, I didn't find any of the footage particularly shocking or outrageous. Of course, I've been watching these true-crime documentaries for so long now, I've probably become a bit jaded by it all. Still, I don't recommend this for the young'uns to watch, as the subject material is fairly graphic in nature (we ARE talking about serial killers and/or cannibals here, after all) and would likely have fallen somewhere into PG-13 territory had the MPAA rated it.

While the presentation gave a reasonable general overview of serial killers, what makes `em tick, and what may have led them down the dark path to #ell that they chose, there little here I didn't already know or heard about from other sources. Overall, I'd recommend `Serial Killers: Real-Life Hannibal Lecters" more for the novice true-crime aficionado who doesn't mind a little egg-headed psychobabble. Otherwise, I suggest you for a more in-depth documentary or documentaries on the subject.

5 out of 5 stars Creepy Cool.......2003-05-10

Very good factual study inside the minds of the most prolific Serial Killers. Deliciously Disturbing. Truth is always stranger than fiction.

Don't plan on eating meat or sleeping for a while.

5 out of 5 stars There are CANNIBALS among us..........2002-09-13

I owned the VHS of REAL LIFE HANNIBAL LECTERS for a while and was thrilled to see that it'd been upgraded to DVD format. For anyone interested in learning more about the criminal cannibals in the world, and the twilight zones in which they reside, this documentary is a MUST-have. Features the infamous Jeffrey Dahmer and Albert Fish cases, among several other "well-knowns". Discussed is the serial killer mentality in general, as well as possible explanations as to why some people choose to cannibalize in such a brutal fashion. For instance, Dahmer ate pieces of his victims so he could feel closer to them. Other career cannibals engage in anthropopaghy (technical word for humans consuming humans) in order to completely CONQUER the victims (as was the situation with the Russian cannibal killer Andrei Chikatilo). Very well produced, I think, with some cool haunting music and a variety of eerie quotes (some anonymous, which makes it even creepier..."IF YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT, I COULD BE YOU TOMORROW" is a chilling example!). Be warned, however, this one is NOT for the faint of heart. Afterall, this does indeed go into details of these human-flesh consumers...Do you REALLY know your neighbors?

Description

In 1976, William Eggleston's hallucinatory, Faulknerian images were featured in the Museum of Modern Art's first one-man exhibition of color photographs. It is rare for an artist of such stature to allow himself to be shown as unguarded as Eggleston does in Michael Almereyda's intimate portrait. The filmmaker tracks the photographer on trips to Kentucky, LA and NY, but gives particular attention to downtime in Memphis, Eggleston's home base. The film shows a deep connection between Eggleston's enigmatic personality and his groundbreaking work.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars I wanted to like it, but alas..........2007-06-18

I bought this to show my class and found it both a little boring and sad. Yes, Eggleston is a national treasure but he also is a train wreck.
The documentary is not very revealing and what it reveals really isn't that interesting. I got through this once but haven't watched it again.
I like looking at his work but really didn't learn anything from this.

5 out of 5 stars Eccentric Pleasures.......2006-08-28

I am very biased in favor of anything that would bring the extraordinary work of Mr. Eggleston to a wider audience - still please trust me when I say that this film is a remarkable acheivement and a riveting experience and would be even if I knew nothing of Mr. Eggleston's art.

Mr. Almereyda has tricked the ultimate trickster into revealing more of himself than one might have thought possible. Not since Duchamp has anyone delivered the artistic goods with correspondingly well targeted mockery of the 'received wisdoms' of art and photography as Mr. Eggleston. He is a master of misdirection and inscrutible yet unfailingly potent verbal and visual renderings.

So when I heard that someone had set out to produce a documentary on the subject it was a little like hearing that I should step outside if I wanted to watch a neighbor catch a greased pig. I wasn't expecting we would be enjoying pork chops for dinner but I knew there would be quite a show. Mr. Almereyda's film delivers the show and the bacon.

First, the show - Mr. Eggleston's eccentric and loving world of family and friends are photogenic and interesting. They are presented as they are without much fuss and caught in media res. We begin the film by simply ambling along with Mr. Eggleston and his son Winston as they trip over pictures that suggest and offer themselves to Mr. Eggleston, falling as it were into the campfire of his vision like so many moths from the real world looking for that something more. By following this work in the field we get to see and know the craftsman in his primary state -- someone who is out in the world looking and searching still. This allows us more ease as we move into other aspects of his family life and career. This early field work set up helps especially when we're presented with his dialogues which Mr. Eggleston intends (as with the statements of Jasper Johns, Duchamp or some Zen master) to enlighten through confusion and the confounding of the irrational nature of "the real world".

Second, the bacon -- where Mr. Almereyda's work acheives its greatest insight is in revealing Mr. Eggleston's complex yet fundamentally loving nature. A man who despite a well groomed and tended reputation as an enfant terrible is tender to and with all those we see encountered from the very close -- his wife, son, and close friends to the most casual encounters. Witness his thoughtful reassurance to the shopkeeper who offers to move the pinata he wants to photograph -- in reassuring tones he congratulates her on how she's positioned the thing -- he says she's got it just right.

Ultimately, I think that is the bacon -- Mr. Egglston is revealed as a great lover of the world and all that's in it -- even with all the suffering and strife and odd-ball visual awkwardness he sees and presents to us a world that whether we recognize it or not "is just right".

4 out of 5 stars illuminating.......2006-05-12

I first saw a pre-release, rough draft version of the film at the Harvard Film Archives in 2004. I thought it was an illuminating and intimate view into the life of an important American artist. I feel the scenes in which Eggleston is walking and looking, as well as his partiality for liquor and the various high and low social realms he comfortably navigates are essential: they give the audience of this documentary a unique insight into the plausible mechanics that make Eggleston, and his imagery, what they are.

5 out of 5 stars An Artist Sees An Artist.......2006-04-22

Noted independent American film-maker Michael Almeryda spent several years coming in and out of noted independent American photographer William Eggleston's life, in his house, in his car, at a lecture and an award (one of many for Eggleston as his stature has grown), in a barbecue joint, with his girl-friend.

He looks at Eggleston with a handheld video camera, just looks, and talks with him, and thinks and talks with him and with us about what Eggleston's art is.

It's a labor of love, and I don't think anyone has ever portrayed so well what it's like to be an artist.

5 out of 5 stars the South.......2006-04-12

I would guess that the reviewers who gave this DVD bad reviews are not from the South or anywhere near it. I am from the South and I know Memphis and I know the milieu and this is a real piece of work, from the sixties to beyond 2000. Eggleston's art has the look and the sound and the feel of the place. We see him dressed up for New York and L. A., which Southerners have to do to invite favour, presenting his down home photo poems basically to sharp-edged people who are not from the South and basically have no idea at all about any of that. Eggleston gives us the smell and the feel and the what it is and he does what he wants to do because he can do what he wants to and to hell with the rest of it. And he is right. And long may he prosper in his art.
