Description
For years Zack Bradley (Dane Cook) has been working hard at hardly working at the local Super Club. That's until a hottie named Amy (Jessica Simpson) becomes the new cashier. After discovering she's willing to date the next guy to become "Employee of the Month", Zack takes on current titleholder (Dax Shepard) in a super-smackdown to see who will win the honor - and Amy's heart - in this outrageous comedy that proves you can't succeed at life and love till you get your shift together.

Watching this movie..........2007-07-11
Was more painful than a dental procedure. There were more cliches than your average comedy and plot holes big enough to drive a MAC truck through. Don't waste your time.
Somewhat mediocre, has its moments, funny premise .......2007-06-24
For what it's worth, the film is marginally entertaining, mainly because it seems to satirize the idea of making it to the top as an employee, even if it is a Sam's Club type of place (in this case, Super Club). With this movie's premise, it certainly should have been fairly funny, but for some reason it seemed to fail at many points. I think this had to do mainly with the lack of originality; everything seems to be standard and characters fail to deviate from their normal "comedy" stereotypes. You have the little cliques between the "bag boy" types on one side (great performance by Andy Dick), and then you have the "cashier" clique. Dax Sheppard plays Vince, the cashier who is not only the fastest, but will do anything to maintain his employee of the month record. On the other hand you have Zack (Dane Cook), the prototypical slacker type who does enough to just get by and not get fired. He's obviously the kind of guy you would root for because he doesn't have an ego, and seems to have a good repertoire with most of the employees (except, of course, Vince). Things begin to take off when Amy (Jessica Simpson) enters the scene, the new hot employee. Vince and Zack hear that she sleeps with employees of the month, and so the quest is on to be the next employee of the month. From here, we see Amy built a good relationship with Zack, all the while not fully aware of the "contest" between Zack and Vince.
This comedy is mediocre mainly because it is middle of the road, and doesn't take many chances or stray from the norm at all. We all know that Vince is a jerk just like we know that Zack is the "good guy" who tries his best, is honest, and will probably have things work out for him. Then there is the hot girl who just wants to be loved, and find someone to treat her right, for who she really is. We don't have much in the way of original characters or story and, while the film is funny at times and entertaining somewhat, it could have been a lot more. Still, it may be better than a lot of comedies out there right now.
Funny movie.......2007-06-10
Good humor. Nothing overly vulgar like you would normally expect from Dayne Cook. Leaves you feeling pretty good.
GOOD COMEDY, ANDY DICK STEALS THE SHOW!.......2007-05-13
I liked this movie, but I must admit, I thought it would be funnier! Andy Dick made me laigh a few times and the light hearted romantic comedy is OK. If your a fan of the people in the movie, you'll probably like it. I am and I did!
One of the worst films.......2007-05-13
The movie really shows how young and inexperience the director really is. It is terrible, very kid like thinking. This director can't be over 10 years old. That is how bad the movie is. I feel sorry for all the actors in this film as they will never be hired for any other films after this. And as for Jessica Simpson, please stick with singing, well maybe not :)

Surprisingly funny.......2007-06-19
When I first heard about this movie, I thought it would be just another idiotic lowest-common-denominator comedy. And to be fair, that's what the advertising painted it as. Well, after watching it on DVD, I had to change my mind. I mean, sure, it wasn't particularly intelligent, but it wasn't trying to be, and it didn't have to be. It was just...funny. And certainly original. I mean, like in every other romantic(ish) comedy, the good guy wins while getting the hot girl, but the setup is interesting, and makes for a lot of comedic moments. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the cast--especially Jessica Simpson--could actually act. It's certainly not for everyone, but if you're looking for a truly entertaining comedy that doesn't overstay its welcome, this is the way to go.
Incredibly Funny.......2007-04-01
This is a very entertaining movie about life in a big box store (like Costco) which I'll watch it again, because it was incredibly funny. It's about a character named Zack who has not achieved anything, because he didn't want to. Well, he was through living in the shadow of a guy named Vince, a hot shot who has the fastest fingers on a cash register in the region, plus he has been employee of the month twelve times running, but now Zack wants the honor, because he wants to catch the attention of a beautiful new cashier.
Zack finally lives up to his potential, but in doing so he's left his friends behind, however he did manage to sweep the girl off of her feet and get more stars for employee of the month than Vince. In the end, when things are totally messed up he fixes everything. Also, he has a funny, yet competitive showdown with Vince. As I said above, this is a funny movie and I loved every second of it. I recommend it for people of all ages and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
funny.......2007-02-20
this movie was pretty funny, it was okay, dane cook is a funny guy. it was kind of stupid plot but thats what makes these type of movies funny. they could've picked a more hotter chick than jessica simpson, like(Jessica Alba). we'll all in all this movie was okay.
BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL.......2007-02-02
Frequenters of bulk shopping like Walmart's Sam's Choice will certainly identify with this surprisingly effective comedy.
The story focuses on two employees of a large store who are competing for the coveted employee of the month award. Dane Cook is the reckless box-boy who decides to take the title away from 17time winner Vince, played with smarmy abandon by Dax Shepherd. The reason: the arrival of buxom Jessica Simpson who is surprisingly effective in her role; she even makes fun of her sexy status by showing Cook how big her ears are!
Needless to say, anything goes in the competition and as Cook starts making headway on Shepherd, all hell breaks loose.
The movie is engagingly charming and is to be commended for its limited use of profanity or overuse of sexual innuendo. Cook carries the movie nicely and it's a pleasant surprise all around.

excellent film.......2007-01-03
If you liked the original Wild Things or even Usual Suspects you should like this movie. Steve Zahn steals the movie and is truly a great actor.
A Strange Dark Comedy: Full Of Unexpected Twists!.......2006-11-05
This strange film, "Employee Of The Month," is one of my guilty pleasures. The film is not a masterpiece; and as some of the reviewers wrote, there are a lot of similarites to 'Wild Things' However, there are also many twists in the film that are not expected. [Plus it's a hell of a lot better than 'Wild Things', which I did not care for] David Walsh (Matt Dillon) is having one hell of a bad day. Things couldn't get any worse. Or can they? Well they can and they do. Along with his good friend Jack (Steve Zahn) this film spins arround with so many plot twists, that you find yourself saying 'WOW' [While laughing at the same time] A word of caution, however, rent the film first, as it may not appeal to many viewers.
There will be no spoilers, as to write them would ruin the film for you if you have not seen it. I really liked Matt Dillon's character. He did an excellent acting performance: Nothing is what is seems in this film. When David Walsh is informed that he is going to be let go from his job after two years; on the eve of his upcoming marriage no less, events begin to spiral out of control. Or do they? There is more to the story, and his job, than meets the eye. And the same goes for his friend Jack and his fiance' Sara Goodwin (Christina Applegate). This is a darkly funny film, that I highly recommend. However, as a word of caution, it will not appeal to many viewers. However, as for the film, remember: Nothing is as it seems!
Deja Vu?????.......2006-10-05
Was I the only person who thought this was a spin off of Wild Things, also starring Matt Dillon? Not to write a spoiler, but if you've seen Wild Things, you can pretty much predict the ending of THIS bad boy. Matt Dillon plots this huge scheme to get rich quick. And he does, get VERY rich...I'm talking million, but the character(s) everyone least expects to make off with the doe. Matt Dillon will never prosper off of stolen goods it seems. But man when he steals, he steals big. Overall, it was a watchable movie.
Not what I expected........2006-09-09
Not only was it not what I expected, but it was rather B grade and a bit cheesy. However, if you don't have anything better to do on a Saturday rainy afternoon, or for an all night movie marathon at home, it's not a bad flick all said and done.
The ending twisted a bit, and I know a lot of have said they liked it, but truth is, for me, it was quite predicatable, and perhaps a bit too convenient too. I think that revealing the ulterior motive and the relationship between the two remaining at the end was more for shock value and sales than it was to further the plot, but hey, that's just an opinion.
All in all, it was decent movie to watch, but I'm glad I didn't pay to see it at a theatre.
Product Description
Director/Writer Mitch Rouse brings you an outrageous dark comedy reminisecent of the Coen Brothers. That is, until his entire life dissolves into chaos. Nothing can prepare him for the twists and turns his day takes when a bank robbery and millions of dollars become part of the day from hell.

Underated. Very good movie........2007-04-17
Even though Jessica Simpson is smoking hot.. I didn't rate this movie on that fact. This movie reminded me of those feel good movies of the 80s, where "yes", the good guy wins in the end. Yes, this movie was somewhat predictable, but alot of movies nowa dayz are as well..that's not really the point. It's simple, funny, and has an actual plot (something missing in most movies released 2day).
Didn't like the movie.......2007-04-04
Not funny at all, You could guess the end before the movie started...
Entertaining Comedy With All the Right Stuff.......2006-11-29
This movie was hilarious!!! Okay, it may not be oscar material exploding with computer graphics, touching dialogue, or emotional nostalgia, but it had everything a great comedy should have...well-developed (though a bit steriotypical) characters, social sattire (in the case of Wal Mart), and a fast, and funny script with extremely comedic antics throughout. Though the humor is a bit crude at times, it is very clever, quick, and witty. The minor and slapstick stunts are awesome, and though this movie and it's plot were not overly original, many of the scenes and ideas displayed were. I suppose if you nit-pick this movie appart and judge every aspect then you may not enjoy it as much as I did. However, this movie was not made to be judged, it was made to entertain; and that it does, side-splittingly-well, I might add! This movie was awesome...by far the funniest movie in the fall of 2006! I highly recommend it!!!
Great Movie.......2006-11-12
This is a great movie. I saw it twice in the theatre and will buy it when it comes out on DVD. I've also been recommending it to my friends. I'm not a movie-goer unless the movie is artistic or has qualities that would strike my interest. "Employee of the Month" already had my interest by the title because I happen to work in the service industry and can relate to the movie. The characters were all wonderful, including Jessica Simpson. Please don't knock her. Everyone has to start someplace and this is the right place for her to start. She did a marvelous job. This movie was so entertaining and I laughed all the way though it twice. When the movie was over, I came out happy. I don't like bloodshed or Freaky Friday movies, just everyday humor and fun. I give this movie 5 stars for simplicity, humor, good actors doing a great job. It might be a certain expression on a face or a certain camera shot or angle. This movie had the right stuff. Hopefully there will be more movies like this with more of the same actors and unknown actors who need a start in the movie industry.
A low-rent "Office Space" starring Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson's breasts.......2006-10-22
In the film business it's called counter-programming: Provide moviegoers - usually women - with an alternative to the weekend's big opener.
And so, on the opening weekend of Martin Scorsese's pointless, nihilistic gangster picture "The Departed," in waltzes "Employee of the Month," also pointless, but also amusing satire about supermarket cashiers. And judging by her wardrobe, Jessica Simpson's chest is the other key topic. The better to distract you from her acting, I guess.
Directed and co-written by Greg Coolidge, it's not on par with Jennifer Aniston's "The Good Girl," but the movie does benefit from a likable newcomer in Dane Cook and a committed, funny turn by Dax Shepard, one alumni of "Punk'd" who at least knows where his bread is buttered.
Shepard plays Vince, the cashier at Super Club - a spoof of Sam's Club - with so fast a conveyor belt he's been called "the fastest hands in the Southwest." Vince is a professional sycophant who squirrels his way into the employee of the month award so many times, he's now eligible for the "grande prize" of a managerial promotion and a "newish" 2004 Chevy Malibu.
Slacker boxboy Zach (Cook) is the store clown who suddenly decides to compete for the award when a new cashier named Amy (Simpson) starts at Super Club and Vince fixes his gaze on her.
"Employee of the Month" has its moments. The "cashier's lounge" is cleverly presented as a kind of airline pilot's den of leather furniture and free soft drinks. Vince "rescues" a lost child and emerges from a haze of cold air that bursts out of a freezer-food door. And weirdo Andy Dick gets a few off as a nearly-blind optometrist.
Cook has some of that Ryan Reynolds look and appeal: Relaxed, confident, slightly moronic. Shepherd and his "assistant," played by Efren Ramirez are a good duo. The rest of the movie is copied, chapter and verse, from The Book of Sandler: Profane elderly women, a bullying dwarf, random shots at immigrants and gays, and, of course, the "lesson" of personal pride and self-discovery.
But let's get one thing straight: Jessica Simpson seems nice enough, even if she marches to Daddy's drum in her music career and personal life. Maybe Pops put her up to this, because you're not going to see a more uncomfortable performance this fall. It's not that Simpson can't act - she does not appear to know how. Her looks and reactions come off as inquisitions toward her director: "Is this how I should be?"
Coolidge, possibly by necessity, keeps her out of much of the movie. But each time she's in it, she's wearing low-cut, look-at-these! shirts and dresses that undercut whatever goal Simpson might have had in creating a character. The singer has a steep enough hill to climb without being unwittingly objectified in every scene.
