Arguing With Myself, a recorded live performance of ventriloquist Jeff Dunham, portrays a comedian whose revival of an old-fashioned art has made ventriloquism more relevant to modern societal concerns. Starring his six main characters, from Bubba Jay, a Nascar-obsessed hick, to Peanut, a flamboyant gay monkey, Dunham's puppets have dirty but relatively inoffensive senses of humor that mock the American Dream. One can easily see why Jay Leno champions Dunham, as his skits contain a similar sly sarcasm disguised as wholesome teasing aimed at men indebted to their ugly wives, for example, or people who live their lives working in cubicles. At times, though, Dunham's humor seems to lose its ironic distance, especially as he interacts with puppets like Jose Jalapeño, a Cuban chile pepper, or Sweet Daddy D, a Black pimp, both reliant on the antiquated humor once popularized in cartoons by racial caricature. Since the entire audience in the film is white, it is difficult to assess whether or not African-Americans or Latinos would find Dunham funny. In other words, Dunham's humor isn't overtly offensive enough to make fun of ethnic heritage. However, his skills as a ventriloquist alone make him a fascinating entertainer, and anyone interested in how puppetry and ventriloquism has progressed over the decades would benefit from watching Dunham bring life to his wooden friends. --Trinie Dalton

Description

Breathing life into an elderly curmudgeon, a purple human-like creature from the Micronesian islands, and a self-effacing talking jalapeno on a stick, Jeff Dunham is straight man to some of the funniest partners in show business! His comedic skill and impeccable technique serve as slight of hand however, drawing attention away from the fact that Dunham is a ventriloquist extraordinaire.

It's Jeff Dunham along with his outspoken and often edgy characters: Walter, Peanut, Jose Jalapeno ("...on a steeek!"), Bubba J, and Sweet Daddy Dee in their full, uncut, and uncensored live stage show that will leave you on the floor laughing like no other!

In Dress to Kill, Eddie Izzard spins free-flowing jokes about San Francisco (where the comedy concert was filmed), transvestitism, squirrels, American optimism, Hitler, the British royal family, mass murder, and Stonehenge--and that's only the first 30 minutes. It's as if this ingenious comedian says whatever comes off the top of his head, but giving that impression demands cunning and skill; Izzard romps through human history and transforms surprisingly complex ideas into biting satire--as well as knockout bits of sublime frivolity, like describing the movie Speed entirely in French. His mercurial patter is sprinkled with four-letter words, but his twinkling glances make this more mischievous than crude. Izzard has delivered some excellent performances in movies (like Velvet Goldmine and The Cat's Meow), but it's on stage that he really explodes with daffy wit and charisma. Simply brilliant and completely addictive; you will want to watch this over and over. --Bret Fetzer

5 out of 5 stars 5 stars I believe........2007-09-11

I always read the one star reviews of things that interest me, or that I have enjoyed, and I find that sometimes it's not that the item is bad, it's that the review in question is diametrically opposed to my viewpoint. Which is fine.

I highly recommend Watching this video and Robin Williams newer material one after the other (no idea what it's called, it's the one with the water bottles.) I didn't realize how much I had love the Izzard, until I realized how blazingly abrasive Robin Williams delivery was. Some will of course have the opposite reaction.

My vote is for Eddie, as opposed to most other comics. The only other two that I even try to remember by name are Mitch Hedberg and Omid Djalili. Eddie is the only one who inspired me to purchase a disc, and I own five. Until Sexie is available region 1, of course.

This DVD got me hooked on Eddie Izzard!! I wish that he would perform a show somewhere closer to NC so that I could go see him. I definitely recommend this DVD to anyone who is thirsty for a refreshing change in comedy. (Not to mention to-die-for clothes!!) Eddie Izzard is fan-tabulous!!!

5 out of 5 stars I'm totally in love with Eddie Izzard.......2007-08-18

A friend of mine, who used to have his own radio show interviewing stand up comics (Len Belzer) - showed me "Dress to Kill." I was completely blown away. Eddie Izzard is truly a comic genius, the best stand up working today, the smartest, funniest, most unique, insightful, lovable, adorable, talented, he's GREAT, BEYOND great.

I was walking down the street with a friend of mine after I saw it and I said - do you know Eddie Izzard? And we immediately went into twenty minutes of "Humperdink" and did half the bits and then ran home to watch it again. Everyone must own a copy of this DVD and then give it to every one of their friends.

I love you, Eddie. You live across the street from my best friend. I admire your talent and look forward to your next show. Thank you.

Product Description

This is a Sesame Street Best of Elmo DVD. This Sesame Street Best of Elmo DVD is another exciting episode of Sesame Street with Elmo the star of the show! Also a visit from Whoopi Goldberg.

Amazon.com

The Sesame Street character has fun singing some catchy new songs (you and your toddler just might, too), explaining the difference between light and heavy, having a laugh over pictures and numbers, and sharing the screen with a good-natured Whoopi Goldberg and Julia Roberts. Of the various Elmo videos, this one really does have the choicest material and stands up to repeat viewings--a big plus with little ones. --Tom Keogh

My son has really enjoyed this video. It has been a great babysitter when mom needed a few minutes to herself. He seems to be outgrowing it a little now that he's over two, but he may come back to it.

4 out of 5 stars The Best of Elmo.......2007-08-13

Got kids? They like Sesame Street and Elmo? Then this is a MUST. Saves money, by compiling the best scenes and skits all into one dvd. Excellent for buying those precious 30minutes of peace and quiet! =)

5 out of 5 stars Peace and quiet for half an hour.......2007-08-02

My 14 month old LOVES this DVD. He can sit and watch this over and over again. I can actually get things done or have half an hour to read something without interruption. I definitely recommend this for everyone with a child over age 1. The songs are great and you and your child will not be disappointed.

1 out of 5 stars Not a favorite...........2007-06-27

At my house- this one isn't a favorite. I think the story line is too long for a toddler. They like action and this one doesn't give it. My DD loves the babies, dogs and farms one. We watch that over and over again, but this one just sits. Sorry Elmo!

5 out of 5 stars Two thumbs up from an Elmo lover!.......2007-06-08

My 10 month old daughter LOVES this DVD. It's only 30 minutes long--perfect length for distracting her during a diaper/clothing change or keeping her busy while I cook dinner. She squeals when the FBI warning comes on at the beginning because she knows what's coming! Elmo's rap about the number 5 is a little annoying, but oh well...she loves it.

Description

Under the white guy "everyman" exterior lurks one of the cleverest original comedians of today. An established star in standup comedy and a frequent guest on the late shows of David Letterman and Conan O'Brien, Jim Gaffigan is a noted actor as well, from comedic turns in Super Troopers, That 70s Show and Sex and the City to dramatic roles in dozens of films and TV dramas. But here his unique comedy persona takes over -- cantankerous but endearing, clean but cutting, with an irrepressible "inside voice" that keeps wickedly popping out - to the delight of the audience in Chicago's historic Vic Theater. And now you can share their guffaws.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars He's weeeird.......2007-09-10

He has to be one of the funniest guys around. His humor for the most part is very clean, and anyone can relate. His routine is based on food, religion, and his wife.

If you like to laugh, check him out.

3 out of 5 stars Very very funny, but also disappointing.......2007-08-31

Jim Gaffigan is hilarious! My husband and I loved his comedy, except for his references to porn, strippers, etc. We laughed so hard when he wasn't throwing in irrelevant dirty comments. We were disappointed to have to get rid of it, but knew we wouldn't enjoy watching this dvd knowing we'd have to listen to that.

2 out of 5 stars Inner Voice = Annoying.......2007-08-30

The reviews on this being an entertaining piece of stand-up is a fair assesment. Though Gaffigan will not offend many people or shock anyone out of the room, the inner voice bit is annoying to no end. For every joke or comment he makes he adds a high-pitched "inner voice" comment. The crowd appears to be puzzled by this as well and he even makes fun of himself for doing it...in the annoying inner voice pitch. It is a clean stand up set and the jokes are of run of the mill situations, mostly about food and other average things. I did not relate to much of his humor. Im willing to bet that not many will be wowed by his genius or delivery.

5 out of 5 stars A fan.......2007-08-27

Gaffigan is one of the best standup comedians around today. His act is a layer deeper than most, though in a way that's easy to understand. It's deeper because he's got that little "voice of the audience member" that pops up to comment on how he's doing. I love comedy, and this guy is one of my favorites.

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious!.......2007-08-13

This was a great DVD, Jim is really funny and will keep you laughing through the whole act! Also great bonus features.

Amazon.com essential video

Annie Hall is one of the truest, most bittersweet romances on film. In it, Allen plays a thinly disguised version of himself: Alvy Singer, a successful--if neurotic--television comedian living in Manhattan. Annie (the wholesomely luminous Dianne Keaton) is a Midwestern transplant who dabbles in photography and sings in small clubs. When the two meet, the sparks are immediate--if repressed. Alone in her apartment for the first time, Alvy and Annie navigate a minefield of self-conscious "is-this-person-someone-I'd-want-to-get-involved-with?" conversation. As they speak, subtitles flash their unspoken thoughts: the likes of "I'm not smart enough for him" and "I sound like a jerk." Despite all their caution, they connect, and we're swept up in the flush of their new romance. Allen's antic sensibility shines here in a series of flashbacks to Alvy's childhood, growing up, quite literally, under a rumbling roller coaster. His boisterous Jewish family's dinner table shares a split screen with the WASP-y Hall's tight-lipped holiday table, one Alvy has joined for the first time. His position as outsider is uncontestable he looks down the table and sizes up Annie's "Grammy Hall" as "a classic Jew-hater."

The relationship arcs, as does Annie's growing desire for independence. It quickly becomes clear that the two are on separate tracks, as what was once endearing becomes annoying. Annie Hall embraces Allen's central themes--his love affair with New York (and hatred of Los Angeles), how impossible relationships are, and his fear of death. But their balance is just right, the chemistry between Allen's worry-wart Alvy and Keaton's gangly, loopy Annie is one of the screen's best pairings. It couldn't be more engaging. --Susan Benson

Description

Considered to be "Woody Allen's breakthrough movie" (Time), Annie Hall won* four OscarsÂ(r), including Best Picture, and established Allen as the premier auteur filmmaker. Thought by many critics to be Allen's magnum opus, Annie Hall confirmed that he had, "completed the journey from comic to humorist, from comedy writer to wit [and] from inventive moviemaker to creative artist" (Saturday Review). Alvy Singer (Allen) is one of Manhattan's most brilliant comedians, but when it comes to romance, his delivery needs a little work. Introduced byhis best friend, Rob (Tony Roberts), Alvy falls in love with the ditzy but delightful nightclub singer, Annie Hall (Diane Keaton). When his own insecurities sabotage the affair, Annie is forced to leave Alvy for a new lifeand lover (Paul Simon)in Los Angeles. Knowing he may have lost Annie forever, Alvy's willing to go to any lengthseven driving L.A.'s freewaysto recapture the only thing that ever mattered'true love. *1977: Picture; Actress (Keaton); Director; Original Screenplay

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Probably one of the worst movies that I've ever seen..........2007-09-04

Personally I don't like any of the films that Woody Allen has starred in. The only good film by Woody, would have to have been "Match Point". I have read and critics have felt that this film is by far Woody's best, it isn't. Winning the best picture award is beyond me! The performances were shallow.

After seeing the movie I caught a glimpse of what Woody Allen's personality is really like. His character, Alvy Singer is expressed as an OCD freak, on top of that he's extremely creepy. Diane Keaton won an undeserved oscar for this role. Why? I dont know. It isn't that great, I have seen mostly postitive reviews, however there has got to be someone who agrees with me. It isn't that good, and it isn't worth watching. IT is absolutely boring, and on top of that it has no sense to it. Basically the movie is about a self-concious man named Alvy, he falls for a woman who is just like him, and the movie just focuses on their on/off romance. It is indeed very bizarre. By the end of the film, I was relieved because it was finally over. There was no humor, and whatever humor there was, it was mostly dry.

So please if you are looking for a romantic comedy, try "Sleepless In Seattle" or "Hitch", this isn't worth watching.

3 out of 5 stars "Is it my imagination, or are you just going through the motions?" .......2007-08-19

Not many filmmakers have chronicled the ups and downs of relationships as well as Woody Allen. Watching "Annie Hall" is to see the director-screenwriter in top-form.

New Yorker Alvy Singer's (Allen) break-up with Annie Hall (Diane Keaton) leads him to reminisce about their time together. He wonders if his efforts to expand Annie's horizons really was a worthwhile endeavor. Did those books, foreign films, adult education classes, and therapy sessions really lead to anything or did they just hasten the end of his time with her?

"Annie Hall" is the one film Allen has made that audiences can most relate to. Anyone who has even been in a relationship can see the universal truths he relates through his characters. Watching Alvy fruitlessly try to intellectualize his feelings for Annie not only proves to be a fertile source of laughs but also puts forth the notion that happy endings in life are dishearteningly elusive. Rarely has romance and misery been portrayed on screen in such an entertaining and sobering manner as in "Annie Hall."

5 out of 5 stars A Classic on par with Casablanca.......2007-08-13

I've only seen this movie 17 times, and I am still "peeling the onion one layer at a time" of this deceptively simple adult romance. Incredible blend of joy and pain and "laugh-out-loud" silliness. Will never forget the scene of Woody trying to recreate the shared intimacy of boiling lobsters with Annie with a new, clueless girlfriend.

3 out of 5 stars OK.......2007-08-05

This movie is rated # 31 on Newsweek Magazine's "Best 100 movies of the last century". I am collecting these. I would place this Woody Allen classic at # 75

4 out of 5 stars 1970's New York- AND L.A........2007-07-29

Hey, haven't I already reviewed this movie. No, sorry that was Manhattan another in the line of very witty Woody Allen movies. But the point is this it is the same subject that Woody addressed there even though chronologically Annie Hall came first by a couple of years and received the lion's share of kudos and awards. As virtually always Allen is intent upon commenting on New York life and its intellectual trends and the ups and downs of relationships, mainly with women. Here he adds a flourish by contrasting old New York (in the 1970's) to up and coming California as the cultural mecca of the American empire. And, as should be the case, New York wins. Add to that the perennial issue of Woody's struggle with `interpersonal' relationships and his angst-driven desire to understand the modern world and you have a very fine social commentary of the times. Needless to say Woody's love interest Annie Hall (as played by his then paramour Diane Keaton) keeps him hopping. As does an ensemble cast that works well together as foils for his ironic and savage humor. The only surprise in revisiting this film recently is how well Keaton played her role as an up and coming torch singer. Of course, I have always been a sucker for torch singers but that is another matter. Some of the humor may seem dated and very 1970's New Yorkish. Some of Woody's mannerisms and use of sight gags may seem like old news. But this is a film to watch or re-watch if you have seen it before.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent 5-Star Performance, but A&E Still Hates the Hearing Impaired.......2007-09-12

Absolutely brilliant performance by Atkinson; this is a fantastic DVD. As noted by other reviewers, it has a plethora of skits, including both US and UK sets. I was ecstatic to finally get the Devil sketch on DVD, having not seen it in years. (Had the VHS but lost it to Katrina.)

Now, a big knock against A&E, enough to give the release itself zero stars (I wish Amazon allowed for multiple ratings, so we could rate the performance separate from its media presentation). A&E apparently hates the hearing impaired. For years they have released countless shows on disc without any form of closed captioning or subtitles. What's mind boggling about that is, in many cases, the captioning is available to them, but they opt not to use it, instead "cleaning" the footage of such encoding. (In fact, A&E television programs are almost always captioned.) I can't fathom why, but it does result in lost sales.

I'm not deaf, but I do have a hearing problem. I overcome it with hearing aids and a good speaker system on my video, but I rarely buy A&E releases; I either rent them or wait for their appearance on TV. But I've bypassed buying scores of A&E releases -- everything from the entire release sets of Poirot to Jeeves & Wooster to Space: 1999 -- for lack of any form of captioning and/or subtitles.

FWIW, I have contacted A&E about it; the polite response was that the company did not feel their normal viewership/customer base needed captioning or subtitles to justify the additional cost.

Sorry for the rant. 5 stars to Mr. Atkinson and a superb performance; 0 to A&E for another shaft to the hearing impaired.

5 out of 5 stars Contains All the Skits US & UK!.......2007-08-14

Some may be wondering, I know I was. This edition contains the US version, which ends with the drum skit which is not in the UK version, But the DVD also contains as Bonus Features the skits that were in the UK version but not on the US. So it's the best of both worlds!

I'd seen the US version long ago on television, then managed to aquire a copy of the UK version, not knowing they were different, and I've thought I've been dreaming the drum skit all this time. It's nice to finally have everyting in a nice DVD presentation. This is one of my favorite comedy DVDs.

5 out of 5 stars Off the Chain.......2007-08-23

This guy is off the chain. I can't wait for the part II. He keeps it real and tells it, as it is. In reality, he says things that all of us wants or wanted to say. A must have!

3 out of 5 stars Not Really Bad, But Could've Been Better..........2007-08-07

...while I certainly wouldn't give this one (1) star, I don't think it deserved a five (5) star rating either. Kat Williams is funny. Don't get it twisted but, knowing what I do know he (and Mike Epps who like a lot) just need more experience as far as stand-up routines go. Both of these cat's have to talent to push the boundaries of black comedy even further. I'd love to see that. Unfortunately, too many newer comics have simply recycled old cliche's and updated older jokes from the 80's and 90's. Peace.

4 out of 5 stars Who let the Katt out?.......2007-08-03

I really did enjoy this show. Katt is very graphic in his language, he paints pictures with his words. This is the kind of show that will grow on you, mark my words.

5 out of 5 stars Dipset!!!!! Dipset!!!!! Dipset!!!!!!!.......2007-07-07

I guess you have to watch this DVD to see what I mean about Dipset. But on some real talk I have watched this comedy show about 30 times. This DVD is funny as Hell. Katt knows how to keep it real and keep you laughing no matter what type of mood you are in. If you are a comedy fan you really need to cop this DVD.Katt Williams - The Pimp Chronicles Part 1

After I Spy and before The Cosby Show, Bill Cosby left his own inimitable mark on the arena of stand-up comedy in this live concert showcasing his down-to-earth observations on the rigors and joys of family life. Cosby, using only a microphone and a chair, discusses his take on raising kids and the illogical nature of children and the futility of trying to argue with a child that in the end may be smarter than you. Notable highlights include Cosby's ruminations on the meaning of the all-purpose phrase "I don't know" to kids, and Cosby describing the effect raising children has on his wife Camille's mental state and the pitch of her voice. Containing the basis for the humor of his long-running situation comedy, Bill Cosby: Himself is a polished, occasionally insightful, and frequently hilarious night of comedy from one of the longtime masters of the form. --Robert Lane

Description

One of America's most popular comedians, Bill Cosby treats his fans to a funny, satirical and heart-warming concert at Toronto's Hamilton Place Performing Arts Center. His material ranges from marriage and the unending trials of parenthood, to the side-splitting antics of the very young, and a hilarious encounter with a dentist's drill and needle. Insightful and witty, this highly entertaining film is a rare cinematic treat, filled with all the spontaneity and electricity that only a live performance can provide.

5 out of 5 stars Still Funny.......2007-08-31

The topics of parenthood, going to the dentist and over-imbibing are timeless subjects and Bill Cosby's performance is just as funny now as it was when this was first produced. I remembered this show as I heard my daughter repeating "come here," to her 2-year-old. I ordered it and hoped that my memory was correct and that she would find it as funny as I did. We both cried we laughed so hard.

If you need a good belly laugh (or a little perspective on parenting), this is the ticket.

5 out of 5 stars You will laugh yourself silly!.......2007-07-21

Bill Cosby tops himself in this one-man show. The differnt skits are funnier than the next.

Funny Drunk Walks, A Visit to the Dentist, Raising children are the BEST!

5 out of 5 stars A True Comedian.......2007-07-12

Today comics like to use alot of foul langauge you know F this and F that. But there is one true comedian who I've never heard swear and that's Bill Cosby. This DVD is great for the whole family. The first time I saw it was with my parents. It's a instant classic. And what's great is everything he talks about is true. Two skits I highly recommende are the drinking and dentist skits you'll find yourself on the floor in seconds because you can't breathe from laughing so much!

5 out of 5 stars The best medicine to anything.......2007-06-30

It's really very simple. I bought this on laser disc about 18 years ago. It's a rosseta stone in my family. We all know it by heart, can qoute almost any line, and still we watch it. Everytime we watch it it's the same routine where we have to stop a few times because someone's belly is aching already from laughing, or someone's bladder is close to bursting. Get this and you will have the perfect medicine to anything. No need for prozac anymore.

5 out of 5 stars Bill Cosby, Himself.......2007-06-27

This is the best show Cosby has ever done. He is hilarious and everything he says is true. I have looked for this for 25 years and Amazon had it, at a great price too!!!

Lewis Black's performance in the HBO special Lewis Black: Black on Broadway is exactly like his "Back in Black" spots on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. If you love his sputtering, furious rants on the fake news, there's no reason you won't enjoy an hour's worth on DVD, during which Black spits out his grievances against typical stand-up comedy fodder--corporate scandals, air travel, etc.--in his usual, direct style. (Good line: "If you're in coach, kill yourself.") The only caveat: you'll get nothing extra here. The disc contains the show, brief shots of his entering/exiting the theater, and that's it. No interviews, no commentary track, not even a set of Spanish subtitles. But since Black's routine is stripped-down anger, perhaps it's fitting for the DVD to be stripped-down Black. --Leah Weathersby

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Politic Comedy that works.......2007-09-09

Lewis Black is funny, almost has have to seen him somewhere. In movies, stand up shows or even the Daily Show. If you analyze all his jokes they're funny but even true in a lot of things. The 4 stars hmmmm mainly because not everybody goes for politic comedy but there are certain guys and I mean even Bill Maher can be a little boring sometimes but does have his punch lines. Lewis anger about everything is just priceless.

5 out of 5 stars The Absolutely BEST of Lewis Black.......2007-06-29

There is no doubting Black's talent. The timing of this album was perfect and one with subjects most people can relate to forever so I must 5-star it as I try to memorize most of the great lines suitable for family and friends. I own two, one for home, one for travel. And, if I see it on HBO, I stop to watch because one can NOT JUST LISTEN. WATCH and laugh harder. Real Adult Funny!

5 out of 5 stars BLACK ON BROADWAY.......2007-05-13

Excellent show, i've watched this 20 times and am still rolling on the floor laughing. this is not for children.

5 out of 5 stars funny guy.......2007-03-26

Lewis Black is probably the funniest comedian of the year. He tackles tough social issues and makes a bang. His delivery and vocal inflection is perfect for the material. He knows just when to pause and when to get excited. Don't be paranoid of the "F" word. He uses it a lot, but I might add, uses it quite effectively.
He is amazing. I recommend this highly.

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious as Usual.......2007-02-06

What can I say? In my opinion, Lewis Black is the funniest comedian ever. Yeah, he uses a *whole lot* of swear words, but what a great way to work out your anger (just don't watch it with the kids!) I think this is one of his best DVDs, right up there with "Red, White and Screwed".

British comedian Eddie Izzard wears makeup, platform heels, and a shimmering magenta suit in Glorious, a video of his standup act filmed in England. Izzard takes a little bit of Robin Williams, a little bit of Jerry Seinfeld, even a little bit of Bob Newhart, but the final mix is absolutely his own and dizzily funny. It's not so much the subjects of his humor--though not many comics make jokes about classical mythology or evil giraffes--as it is the way he fluidly skips from thing to thing in a madcap free-associative whirl. He lulls you by seeming casual and almost sloppy, but when he needs to be precise his gestures and mimicry are razor sharp. There have been a million tired jokes made about trying to get a shower to stay at the right temperature, but Izzard manages to make even that funny. He's even funnier when he's imitating Sean Connery as Noah, trying to convince God that a speedboat would make a much better photo opportunity than an ark, or playing a beekeeper flirting with someone passing on the street. Much of the giddiness comes from his astounding sense of spontaneity. Half the show seems to have been made up on the spot, and if it wasn't, you boggle wondering how he could have possibly written something so ridiculous and yet appropriate. Though he uses a number of four-letter words, his humor is surprisingly clean, and even the most frank vulgarities seems like a bit of impish innocence coming out his mouth. Glorious indeed. --Bret Fetzer

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars So funny!.......2007-09-05

Eddie Izzard is so funny- i would buy any DVD of his. This one is also great! I only wish there were more like it. I can watch them over and over. I recommend this one along with all the others!

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious!!.......2007-08-23

My daughter played this dvd for me and many of the lines are now family jokes! It is very, very clever! Every day occurences are made into hysterical routines. Izzard works them into the Old Testament, some Greek mythology, career choices, British royalty, and the New Testament, to name just a few. By the time he gives a Revelations encore I could hardly breath. There is nothing offensive in this routine, there is occasional use of the "f" word, but not in a derogatory or explicit way. His physical comedy is as funny as the script. I haven't laughed so hard since "Bill Cosby,Himself". I'd recommend this for anyone over 12!

5 out of 5 stars On the first day God created jam, radiators, Belgium, and Eddie Izzard........2007-07-04

While "Dress to Kill" is the definitive Eddie Izzard DVD (the "Cake or Death?" routine on that disc is probably the greatest single comedy bit of the last two decades), "Glorious" suffers only in comparison. Measured by any other standard, it's flat-out hilarious, period. The combination of Izzard's razor-sharp wit, offhand delivery, fluid stage movements and decidedly singular appearance makes for hilarious comedy that only those who have seen him in action can fully imagine. (Every Izzard performance contains throwaway bits that you'll cherish forever; in "Glorious," my favorite is his impression of an evil giraffe.) Only Robin Williams matches Izzard's free-associative brilliance, and I prefer Izzard's style because, unlike Williams, he doesn't feel the need to call attention to it every second. Amazon offers a price break on "Dress to Kill" and "Glorious" ordered together; if you don't have both discs already, it's a deal I highly recommend. The world could do with more "executive transvestites" like Eddie Izzard!

5 out of 5 stars The best comedian in the world.......2007-06-28

I think Eddie Izzard it simply the best stand up comedian in the world.
His humor is very intelligent. He looks at things from a different perspective and points out the obvious, that is not obvious if you don't think about it, which makes it very funny. The fraises from his shows became an essential part of my family's vocabulary. "Glorious" and "Dress to Kill" are his two best shows. I think we saw each DVD at least 10 times.

3 out of 5 stars Glorious? Not so much.......2007-06-01

Not as good as Dressed To Kill. There are truly funny bits scattered throughout, but you have to wade through the not so funny stuff to get to them.
