This somewhat unpleasant 1992 sequel to the blockbuster Home Alone revisits the first film's gimmick by stranding Macaulay Culkin's character in New York City while his family ends up somewhere else. Again, the little guy meets up with colorful people on the margins of society (including a pigeon woman played by Brenda Fricker) and again he gets into a prop-heavy battle with Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. The latter sequence is even worse than the first film in terms of violence inflicted on the two villains (director Chris Columbus, who also made the first film, can't seem to emphasize the slapstick over the graphic effects of the fight). The best running joke finds a concierge (Tim Curry) at the swank hotel where Culkin is staying trying and failing to prove that the boy is on his own. --Tom Keogh

Fun movie for both kids and adults!.......2007-08-03
The Home Alone movie series is probably the most entertaining, comedic series that both kids and adults will enjoy. The jokes, actors, and tricks are sure to provide a couple of hours of good family fun!
So what's this movie about? If you've seen the first Home Alone, the general storyline applies to Home Alone 2 as well. If you haven't, basically the movie has a boy, Kevin, seperated from his family on vacation. Kevin accidentally ends up in New York while the rest of his family is in Florida. Two thieves are plotting to steal money from a toy store. Not only that, but they remember Kevin from a previous robbery-gone-wrong (from the first Home Alone movie) and they're after him. Kevin comes up with a few boobytraps in an attempt to stop the men. Will the boobytraps prevent the thieves from getting to Kevin? Will Kevin be reunited with his family? These questions are answered at the end of the movie.
So what's to like about this movie? First, I must point out that the acting is rather good for a family film. Of course we have Macaulay Culkin (who plays Kevin) and Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern (who play the robbers). All three do an amazing job playing their characters and even the rest of Kevin's family add a touch of extra personality to the film. Second, when it comes to movies that remind me of Christmas, Home Alone is one of them. I remember watching this movie when I was younger and being really excited about Christmas. This movie always comes out at Christmastime and my family loves watching it. Lastly, my absolute favorite part of the movie is the boobytrap scenes. Lots of laughs and even some twists.
An extra bonus is that you don't need to watch the original Home Alone to understand what's going on in the second film.
And what's not to like? Look, this movie is not Oscar-worthy in my opinion. It is only meant to cause some chuckles and provide a couple of hours of entertainment. Don't go into this movie expecting too much.
The bottom line is this: If you're looking for a good family-oriented movie, check out Home Alone 2.

I couldn't believe how hard it was to find a copy of this item for sale!.......2007-02-18
My son has developed a fascination with the first two Home Alone movies which we had on VHS. He then decided that he'd like them on DVD and I knew that there had been a gift package of them which had the first 3 movies... at the time I wasn't even aware that there was a 4th Home Alone movie.
I don't regret buying this item at all! Cody's loved each of the movies and watched them several times... I even still laugh at the wacky situations and had a blast watching them all with him. They're a fun series of family movies which I did enjoy! I just wish that characters had been played by the same actors for all of the movies.
An awesome saga!.......2006-08-24
I loved these movies.Of course, the fourth kind of sucked, but nonetheless. The film is about a boy named Kevin who is constantly dumped on by his large family. After his family goes on a trip to France,he is left behind by himself. For a while,he has fun, until he has some uninvited guests:two bumbling bandits who clearly don't know who they are messing with. So,Kevin sets a fancy array of traps for the two idiotic bumblers, and the hillariouty ensues as the bandits are caught up in what might be the most difficult heists of their lives. You'll laugh yourself silly. The fun continues in the second and even funnier sequel with Kevin getting lost in New York while his family goes to Florida.Soon,he gets caught up with the two bumbling bandits who this time plan to rob a toy store of the hospital money it's gathering. But Kevin's too clever as he sets more traps that have the bandits slipping and falling all over New York.Hillariouty ensues once more as Kevin gets into more mayhem and learns once again that your family is important.Get this pack.
The Best Christmas Comedies.......2005-12-03
I have always loved all of the movies in the "Home Alone" series.I have loved watching them on television around Christmastime every year, but now,i`m 11,and I have a new little brother. One day I saw where "Home Alone 2:Lost In New York" was coming on TV,and so I turned it to the channel it was on,having not seen it in a year.I watched the whole movie straight with my brother, and every time I laughed,he laughed! So,I went on Amazon.com wanting to get the complete series on DVD to have forever.Thats when I saw this boxed set.It includes all four of the "Home Alone" movies. Here`s what I thought of each of them, and what i`ll always think:
Home Alone-Wonderful Christmas comedy showing the true spirit of Christmas, with some robbers along the way!
Home Alone 2:Lost In New York-An amazing sequal bringing back pretty much all the charectors from the first film.Definately a good one.
Home Alone 3-Different charectors, different actors, but still a great movie. With the villains more smart, and with a very valuble item in his grasp, the new "Home Alone" boy is in for a rockin holiday!
Home Alone 4:Taking Back The House-Kevin is back, but with a different person playing his role. This movie is decent,it is worth watching, but isn`t the best out of the four. But,you will still want to buy this boxed set, cause who knows, maybe you`ll like it better than I do!
Lots of laughs for a new generation.......2005-08-02
My grandchildren were visitng us one evening when the Home Alone/New York was shown on regular TV. I didn't realize that they never viewed the Home Alone movies. They were laughing so hard that I bought the entire set so they could see all of them. The first two are the original actors, the third is a different family -- they are cute and funny and worth the money. The last one uses the original McAllister family and names, but with only 3 children (Kevin again is the youngest), Mom and Dad are divorced and Dad's girlfriend is rich, lives in a computerized smart home and is hosting the royal family for Christmas - it's awful. The first three make the boxed set worth the money.
The Complete Collection.......2005-01-11
Home Alone is one of my favorite movies. In this box you get all four movies in widescreen, plus trailors for the first three. Here's a rundown of my thoughts on each movie:
#1: Great movie. Well acted and a simple storyline.
#2: The perfect sequel. The original cast returns and gives another great performance.
#3: A change in the cast lineup. Plot becomes more complex. Bad guys are smarter. Still a great movie.
#4: What happened? Though not a bad movie, it completely changes the storyline.
My personal favorite of the series is the third one. These are great movies, and this boxed set is a really good buy.

Product Description
Home Alone (Family Fun Edition) [DVD] (1990)
Wild slapstick comedy and sentiment highlight the adventures of 10-year-old Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) as he tries to protect his house from a pair of ornery burglars after he's been mistakenly left behind by his family, who are on their way to Paris for Christmas vacation. Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, Catherine O'Hara and John Heard star in this smash hit from John Hughes and Chris Columbus.
Home Alone 2: Lost In New York [DVD] (1992)
Macaulay Culkin returns in the role of Kevin McCallister, the irascible youngster who can't stay out of trouble. This time he's alone in Manhattan when family vacation plans go awry again, and before long Culkin is living it up at a posh hotel, matching wits with the snobby staff, and squaring off again against hapless crooks Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci. With Tim Curry, Catherine O'Hara.

Buyer Awareness of Different .......2007-02-07
"Home Alone/Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (2002)" Culkin,Maccaulay - DVD Video Value Pack
These are two wonderful movies and will make a great addition to your Christmas movie collection. If you are not familiar with this series then you may be at risk of a slight seller [...]. There is a 2006 remix of the first movie called "HOME ALONe Family Fun Edition" that you may receive in place of the original October 5, 1999 DVD version as shown in the advertisement, I did. They will tell you it is the same movie but it is absolutely not. They may also tell you if you don't like it just send it (both DVDs) back for a full refund. The way this works for them is that YOU must pay the costs of return shipping and NEVER expect original shipping charges to be refundable thus they will still profit slightly from the deal even if you don't just give in and keep what they originally sent.
The 1999 DVD Home Alone never received as much broadcast and cable air time as Home Alone 2 due in part I suspect to a few colorful metaphors spouted by Kevin which would impact a "TV/G" rating. I have not compared the two frame by frame but suspect the term "Family Fun" means some audio editing was also performed to increase market penetration of this classic.
Don't get me wrong, the "HOME ALONe Family Fun Edition" has also received excellent reviews and may be exactly what you want. Just be aware of the different versions and that the original 1999 DVD is becoming a rariety with new copies quickly increasing in value.
No Bonus Materials??????????????.......2004-04-24
Dont get me wrong. This is a great movie, and the second one is great too. But these transfers to DVD's are complete rip offs! Where are the bonus features?????
They may come with trailers, full screen, and subtitles.... but I was very disapointed when these came out on DVD and had nothing else included on them. And I know the stuff exsists! I remember very clearly watching a behind the scenes featurette on home alone, and home alone 2 when they where about to be released. I remember Daniles talkin about how he was the guy in charge of whats funny, and i remember them talking about how it wasnt filmed at christmas and they had fake snow, and fake pigeons ect.... WHERE ARE THOSE FEATURES?????
To a person who dosent care about bonus features. Then go ahead and buy these great movies. But for someone like me who does want things like that, espesicly for such a huge comedy smash hit like these 2 movies, youd expect more wouldnt you? Even Audio comentary would be nice? Why is this blockbuster sucses treated so poorly on the DVD release? ITS NOT EVEN IN SURROUND SOUND!!!!!!!!!! (5.1)
I hope they release a better special edition of these films with features worth buying, to replace the old VHS copys most of us have. Untill then, keep your videos, the dvd's arnt worth getting yet
Can't have one without the other.......2002-12-28
It is a Thanksgiving tradition in my house to watch "Home Alone" as the dinner is being prepared. (My kitchen T.V. has a built in DVD player.) We all recite together "Take that, you filthy animal!" I always cringe at the same parts where the robbers fall into Kevin's traps. The next day, we watch "Home Alone 2" and relax. It's a lot of work preparing and cleaning up Thanksgiving dinner!
These movies are considered holiday classics in our home. ("Home Alone 3" isn't even worth considering.) These two movies represent that rare combination of the sequel being just as good as the original.
A perfect christmas gift.......2002-11-18
If you or somebody you know loves Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and doesn't want the both movies buy themselves, this is something to get. But this is not the only 2 pack for movies on dvd, Toy Story and Toy Story 2, 101 and 102 Dalmatians, are also movies that are in 2 packs. In the first Home Alone, young Kevn McCallister (Macaualy Culkin) is angry with his large family, and wishes his whole family to disappear, the McCallisters have a trip to Paris coming up, the next day. But the every member of the family sleeps in because of a power problems during the night. And when they wake up, they have to do a lot of running around getting ready. But they forget one thing, they leave Kevin McCallister behind. And Kevin is happy when he wakes up and doesn't see his family around.
Okay Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Macaulay Culkin is back as Kevin McCallister, but once again his family makes him angry, when there is trouble in a christmas pagent. And this time the McCallisters are going to Miami, and Kevin wishes that this time if he had his own money he own money he'll on his own vaction. There are once again power problems and the McCallisters are rushing around again, and they head off for the airport, and this time Kevin is wake and is at the airport, but his family is running to fast, Kevin loses his passport, and gets on hte flight with his family (or so he thinks), but he really boared a plane for New York. Looks like to me, Kevin has got his wish again to me. Other characters in both films include Harry (Joe Pesic), Marv (Daniel Stern), Kevin's mother (Catherine O'Hara), Kevin's dad (John Heard), Kevin's bother Buzz (Devin Ratray) and Kevin's grumpy uncle Frank (Gerry Bamman)
You gotta see this one.......2002-11-10
Home alone part 1 in my opinion is better than part 2 and 3,I think there is a fourth one.The first one is the best one because
it has Macaulay Culkin at his best,in part 2 it wasn't as funny
as the first one.Part 3 didn't even have him in the movie,so any
Home Alone without Culkin well it just ... The first one is a classic featuring Joe Pesci who is another one of my favorite
comedians.I watch part 1 every time christmas comes around,
that's the best time to watch it.If your gonna buy any Home alone
movies just buy the first one it's a classic, forget about the other ones,I'm glad I only own the first one.(Buy it today).

2. A good movie like the first one but there is nobody home alone in this one
4. OK movie, but Kevin is not Home Alone in this movie either
They should have a pack with Home Alone 1 and 3 because those are the only ones out of all 4

Great!! Wonderful 70s Detecive Film!!.......2003-09-01
One Of My Wives Is Missing is one of the most underated mystery films of the 70s, it is also one of the best! Jack Klugman gives a superb performance as the small town detective. If you like detective shows and films from the genre of Columbo and MacMillan and Wife then don't miss this film.
Nonstop adventure--a very fun movie.......1999-09-18
The Crusher Joe movie looks a little different from the OVAs (the character designs don't look quite as sharp, and there's a few goofy, cartoony touches here and there), but it's still a terrific, exciting piece of anime. This time, Joe, Talos, Alfin, and Ricky are hired to go to a backwater planet to recover a kidnapped heiress from space pirates, only to find lies, conspiracies, and doublecrosses galore waiting for them. The plot gets complicated, but it's usually pretty clear what's going on. As in the OVAs, once the action gets going, there's no letup. This plays like old-fashioned pulp sci-fi, with very archetypal characters and plots, but like Star Wars, it does it so well that it's still exciting and fresh. This is an overlooked gem, even in anime circles, and I highly recommend it (parents take note, there is considerable violence in it (it's an action movie), and some very brief (and not very detailed) nudity.)
