With the fourth season of JAG: Judge Advocate General, viewers get a real sense of who the characters are. Originally running in 1998-1999, the fourth year is consistently good in both storyline and acting, and rarely loses steam in any of the 24 episodes. The six-disc boxed set begins with Commander Harmon "Harm" Rabb (David James Elliott) and his comely colleague Lieutenant Colonel Sarah "Mac" MacKenzie Mac (Catherine Bell) searching for his father in Russia. The season ends with Harm possibly giving up his military legal career to return to his first love as a naval fighter pilot. But before the cliffhanger, Harm helps to clear Mac's name against charges that she killed her ex-husband, bumbling Bud (Patrick Labyroteaux) and his wife Harriet (Karri Turner) welcome their baby into the world, and Admiral Albert Chegwidden (John M. Jackson) deals with the kidnapping of his daughter. In many ways JAG evokes memories of older whodunit series that relied on charm and humor as much as drama (and gross-out medical examinations) to keep its audience captivated. Elliott and Bell provide pleasing eye candy along with enough flirty chemistry that viewers root for the couple to get together. And Labyorteaux has transitioned well from a child actor into a very funny thespian with superb comic timing. While the plots occasionally can be out there, the series serves up feel-good stories without excessive patriotism or preaching. There's not much in the way of special features, other than a so-so gag reel. But fans of the series won't be disappointed by this set, which tackles political issues as well as matters of the heart. --Jae-Ha Kim

A must own DVD Navy fan or not!.......2007-08-29
I really enjoy watching this series! My husband was in the Navy and he says that this show is very much real to how the navy responds and reacts to different situations! I can't wait to own all the seasons!!
A MUST OWN DVD.......2007-08-17
I really think this show was so great, everytime i watched it they always had something new going on. Or something about world events that did happen but the story lines changed.

once cbs picked it up it kept going which was good,
JAG -- The Complete Fourth Season.......2007-08-01
I must admit that I am a JAG fan, in spite of its unrealistic premise. I enjoy the plots and characters, and it is one series that allows the characters to grow and develop over the 10 years it was in production. Its portrayal of the Navy is responsible and favorable enough to get a lot of cooperation from the armed forces.

The Best Movie Ever.......2007-09-09
This is the most beautiful movie. It is so moving and profound. Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe are such amazing characters as well as the others.A true classic!
It's about time!.......2007-09-07
I was SO happy to see this on DVD!!!! I've not watched it for years because I no longer have a VCR that works well. It's like I remembered and I'm in love with it all over again! The extras are GREAT!!!! The package came VERY quickly and in excellent condition! Thanks again for another great buying experience, Amazon!!!
Every little girl should see these movies!.......2007-09-05
I have loved this story my whole life! My mom read me the books when I was younger and then taped the trilogy on the PBS specail when I was younger. I loved it so much and I have since lost the recordings so I purchesed them on DVD. I'm letting a friend of mines daughter who is 9 borrow them right now. She is the same age I was the first time I watched them.
Magical journey into the Past.......2007-08-27
There is nothing not to like about this trilogy. The characters are charming and so dimensional that it's like being there. I vascillated between laughter and tears and the only part of the film that I didn't like was the fact that I wanted it to go on forever and of course, like all good stories, it had to end eventually. I have lent out the DVDs to several friends and they all had the same reaction that I did. I highly recommend this trilogy to people of all ages for a magical journey into the past.
A Must For The DVD Library.......2007-08-17
This is a classic. My husband hates movies like this one, however, he fell in love with Anne with an "E". This is a treasure that will be kept and enjoyed in our DVD Library.

This gorgeous adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery's classic children's story is well worth watching with the whole family. Produced for Canadian television, it's one of those rare productions that actually sticks to the book and even enhances it through first-rate performances and an excellent script. Set on bucolic Prince Edward Island in the late 19th century, Anne of Green Gables is the story of Anne Shirley, an imaginative and headstrong orphan. When brother and sister Marilla and Mathew Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan boy to help Matthew work the farm, they are astonished when Anne arrives at the train station by mistake. "What use is she to us?" grumbles the gruff Marilla. "We might be of some use to her," answers Matthew, who has taken an instant liking to the talkative Anne. As Anne grows up, her adventures are both hilarious and moving. It's a delight to watch as she forms a friendship with the beautiful Diana and her admirer--the dashing Gilbert Blythe--then dyes her hair green, cracks a slate over Gilbert's head when he calls her "Carrots," and finds a sympathetic teacher who encourages her to attend college.
Richard Farnsworth is perfect as the shy and gentle bachelor Matthew, who confides to Anne that he never went courting because "I would have had to say something." Colleen Dewhurst delivers a nuanced and powerful performance as Marilla, a seemingly cold-hearted spinster whose no-nonsense exterior conceals a warm heart. And as Anne, Megan Follows strikes the perfect note, maturing from freckle-faced orphan to elegant and poised young woman. --Elisabeth Keating

Solid story that teaches many important lessons. It's not just a movie for young girls. Richard Farnsworth was one of the best!

Anne of Green Gables.......2007-09-02
Again I bought this DVD for my wife. I had given her Anne of Green Gables The Sequel several years ago and she had tried to find the original story of Anne of Green Gables but could not find it in local stores where we live. She loved it so much that after watching it she watched the sequel again and has now ordered the Continuing Story of Anne of Green Gables. It is nice to know there are still some nice, clean movies out there that have a good story and can entertain you without listening to vulgar language and watching violence.
oh, lordy..........2007-08-27
This simpering little twit plodding her way through this series should be used as forced-viewing punishment for people who take organized sports too seriously. I suffered through an hour of this with my wife and I wished she's fall down a well and not come out. Or fall off a horse-drawn carriage that's going at full speed. Or, well, you get the idea.
beautiful, intelligent and delightfully entertaining..............2007-08-26
This great 1985 production gloriously brings the characters from the "Anne" series, written by Canadian writer Lucy Maude Montgomery, to life. I remember well watching (and reading) this story as a small child. It was magical, then, and it remains so more than twenty years later. Anne (Megan Follows) is a lively and strong-willed orphan adopted by Marilla (Colleen Dewhurst) and Matthew (Richard Farnsworth) Cuthbert, siblings in need of a helper on their farm. Originally, they had expected to adopt a boy, but fate has other plans for them. Anne proves to be just what they needed. She brings them her youth, indomitable spirit and flare for getting into mischief. Along the way, Anne meets and befriends neighbor and classmate Diana Berry (Schuyler Grant) and butts heads with "would be" suitor Gilbert Blythe (Jonathan Crombie). Anne's slew of adventures and misadventures are a lot of fun to watch (especially an instance where she attempts to die her red hair auburn--turning it green instead!).
The strength of this wonderful film is in the engaging acting, warm direction from Kevin Sullivan and the luscious photography. You really feel like you have been transported to St. Edward Island in Canada, in the early 1900s. You'll laugh, you'll feel the pangs and poignance of Anne's trials and tribulations and you will absolutely lose yourself in the story.

Words & music, they are what makes the world go round! The movie was kind of ho-hum but most sequels are, the music however lives on!!!

I would have given it two stars if they'd taken the only decent song "On The Darkside" and used it as the "special" tape song.
OH!!! they wasted more silver halide on another one I see. I didn't watch pt II but sequels are hardly ever any better so 1/2 star for II
Eddie Lives!.......2007-07-02
I must say that "Eddie and the Cruisers II, Eddie Lives !" is one of my favorite Rock & Roll films. Second only to the original "Eddie and the Cruisers". The soundtrack is fantastic and Michael Pane's performance as Eddie Wilson is perfect. John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band wrote and perform all of the original songs. However, Pare's lip syncing is so perfect you cannot tell he isn't doing the actual singing. Although the sequel stands on its own, I recommend viewing the original "Eddie and the Cruisers" first. This DVD version is long overdue and is a must see for all Rock & Roll fans.
A must for any art student.......2007-06-12
A great story for any artist from any medium. The music is great as well.

My Guilty Pleasure!.......2007-09-04
When I got my HD-DVD player last year one of the titles I couldn't wait for was Big Lebowski. I hadn't seen it in several years and when I finally put it in the player, I was so glad I had waited. Not only is the picture and the sound excellent, but this is one of the greatest movies of all time.
The writing is so good. The acting is fantastic (Jeff and John's best acting performances by far). The comedy is still funny after 11 viewings. I still giggle to myself anytime I think about the scene where Walter jumps out of the car "To take the hill" and the machine gun is going off, while the Dude crashes into a telephone pole. Hilarious hilarious all the way through.
Just remember not to spread human ashes on the beach when the wind is blowing. LOL LOL LOL
Amazing movie...even better video quality.......2007-08-29
this HD DVD is amazing! The video and sound quality is amazing and the movie itself is a classic. Oh and as far as the guy below saying Blu-Ray is outselling HD DVD...times are changing quick my friend, check around.
Even if you'd already own the special edition, this one's definitely worth it!.......2007-08-16
I guess I don't need to say much about the movie.
Apart from being my favorite movie with superb acting of the entire cast (including the dog and the toe) and the incredible dumb and hilarious dialogue which still manages to blow my socks off everytime I watch the movie, this version truly is a must have.
No matter which character you (try to) analyze, they are all insane and ingenious, funny and inspiring (except of course the nihilists...)
The HD DVD transfer is far better than anything that came out before. Brightest colors when needed, good natural ones in the shades, sharp as .... well, you almost cut your feet at the rug that used to tie the room together. Sound is perfect, what is there left to say?
Stranger:"Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you."
The Dude:"That some kind of Eastern thing?"
Com'on folks, let's go bowling! But only after having watched this one, PLEAEAEASE!
Where is the Blu Ray Release?.......2007-08-13
I hate it when a studio does preferential releases. Especially when Blu Ray is outselling HD-DVD 2 to 1! I'm sure once the format was is over, this will see a release on the opposing format. It just sucks we have to wait for one of the funniest movies ever made to be watchable on the PS3.
The Dude.......2007-08-08
The Dude definitely says that this is one of the greatest movies ever made - wow - what a great picture - have to love HD

My Pivotal Film Experience........2007-09-13
Every lover of film has had a pivotal film experience, the movie that made such an impact on them that they have never forgotten it. For me WITCHFINDER GENERAL is that film. I first saw it in 1969 as THE CONQUERER WORM (AIP's American release title designed to cash in on the Vincent Price/Edgar Allan Poe series although the movie has nothing to do with Poe). I was 17 years old, just about to complete my junior year of high school in Greenville SC, and was a big fan of the Roger Corman/Vincent Price Poe series. I had seen very few films that would not qualify as G rated. The ratings system had just been introduced the year before and this film was rated M (for mature audiences, later GP then PG). It was a complete shock to the system in every way. It was the first time I had seen nudity/lovemaking before and the violence was painful and ugly. Vincent Price was cold and hard without a trace of his usual mannerisms and therefore not sympathetic in the least. To top it all off there was no happy ending and people were worse off than they were before. Of course these things had been in films since the silent era but it was the first time I had seen them and we always remember our firsts. I have seen just about everything in the movies since then but seeing WITCHFINDER nearly 40 years later I'm amazed at how well it holds up. I am happy to report that after years of substandard VHS and Region 2 DVD editions this version features the original director's cut and restores the original soundtrack which was not available in America. An added bonus is the commentary which features star Ian Ogilvy that fills in the background of the making of the film. For those who don't know, the film is set during the English Civil War and pits two young lovers against a sadistic Puritan witchfinder. The director, Michael Reeves, died shortly afterwards of an accidental drug overdose at the age of 25. The 5 star rating is purely subjective because of the important part it played in my overall movie development but it's a solid 4 star film anyway.
This is the Directors Cut .......2007-09-04
There's more good news regarding MGM's long awaited September 11 DVD release of WITCHFINDER GENERAL (aka THE CONQUEROR WORM). Producer Philip Waddilove has confirmed to DVD Drive-In that the movie will not only be presented as Michael Reeves' director cut, but will also contain the original music score by Paul Ferris which was removed from all previous home video versions in the U.S. For this DVD, Waddilove has also just recorded an audio commentary along with star Ian Ogilvy, and an additional supplement will be a collection of Waddilove's personal stills, taken on the set. Looks like it's going to be one hell of a release!
On DVD at last but still not uncut.......2007-08-30
I live in England, where there has been a (Region 2) DVD now in release for a few years that features a number of bonuses as well as two different versions of the film. One is described as being a "tamer" version for the folks in the UK, while the other version is described as the "export" version featuring scenes that were originally deemed too strong back in 1968 for the supposedly more genteel market locally speaking. Well, before you get too hopeful, the export version features some simply and crudely pasted on bits-and-pieces that for the most part were always available in the U.S. on both t.v. and VHS video. The only possible exceptions are a couple of brief bare-breasted scenes. The torture scenes were simply (and noticeably) pasted in, but were always available to U.S. viewers. The video and audio quality of these "restored" scenes are also poor. This so-called special edition here in the UK is usually a staple of most supermarket's bargain bins. Beware. I applaud MGM/UA Home video for finally bringing the film to DVD, but the running time is still around twelve minutes short of the original uncut version which purports to exist somewhere in the world today. Until or if-and-when this version ever sees the light of day, I guess we can hope for no better.
the price is right by zocchi666 .......2007-08-27
witchfinder general is not your typical vincent price horror film . price sheds the over the top camp here for a truly twisted performance . a gritty somber tale of a traveling inqusitor bend on self gratification thru torture and accusation. while i love price in classics of the genre like house on haunted hill or masque of the red death this film should not be overlooked . price is an easy target for those throwing stones at the genre but see him here and you will truly feel the power of his acting full on. a must !!!!!!!
Sorry, MGM, you waited too long.......2007-08-22
WITCHFINDER GENERAL (aka: THE CONQUEROR WORM) is one my all time favorite Vincent Price movies. Price is truely wicked and brutal as Matthew Hopkins, England's infamous Witchfinder General. I prefer him in a slightly more campy role like the scorned, vengeful actor in THEATER OF BLOOD, but his cold, sadistic demeanor in this film is just right for the part.
Apparently, this disk is the old American version rather than the uncut version I bought a while back from Brazil called "O CACADOR DE BRUXAS." This beautfully produced, import version of the film (which includes the original English sound track) contains some lovely nude scenes that were never shown in the U.S. version.
Too bad MGM didn't put WITCHFINDER GENERAL out sooner. I'd have never discovered this Brazilian gem if I had been able to find a domestic version of the film. If MGM's version lacks these scenes, which apparently it does, I'm forced to give their Witchfinder General a 4 rating. The Brazilian version gets a well deserved 5!!
Description
Football is a game that knocks you down, then expects you to get back up. Life hit the West Virginia town of Huntington and its Marshall University even harder. When it did, Jack Lengyel came by to help pull them onto their feet by taking the job no one wanted: rebuilding the Marshall football program only months after a plane crash wiped out Marshall's beloved Thundering Herd. Matthew McConaughey portrays Lengyel, the energetic, compassionate coach of inexperienced players whose chances of victory are slim and none. They'll go with the slim. And as they do, their true-life story of heart, healing, and football will thrill and inspire you. It's game day. Time to play till the whistle blows!

Tragedy Re-Visited.......2007-09-07
Being a WV native, and Huntington resident from 1967-1992 as well as a student at MU 1969-71, I waited for this film with both curiosity and some fear of what the producers would do to the story.
Some of the landmarks have changed-the downtown bridge is long gone and the bridge in the final scene wasn't completed until the late 1980's. The restaurant scenes capture the essence of Wiggins' 16th Street altho' it is gone as well. However, the feelings and the emotions of the community were portrayed exactly as we remembered them, we being my wife, a Huntington native and Marshall graduate. It took many months if not years before the community began to understand the impact of the trajedy. I believe it was to the University's, the Board of Regent's, and the Collegiante Athletics Commission's credit that MU was allowed to return to play and field a team, no matter how makeshift.
Following the Young Thundering Herd gave us cause to begin the healing process. Failing to re-instate the football program would have forever left the plane crash as a final punctuation point to MU athletics.
Matt Macconaughey's portrayl of post-crash Coach Jack Lengyel seemed a little over the top to me, but there is no question that Coach Lengyel is indeed a character. That outrageous sports coat was actually only slightly out of fashion in the day.
I saw the film in Florida, 2 months after it's release. I was amazed that at the end of the film very few in the audience left. Most folks, including us, just sat quietly in their seats while the credits rolled and then very quietly got up and left the theatre.
That was exactly the atmosphere on the Marshall Campus following the crash in 1969. Well done!
Nicely done...........2007-07-06
Matthew McConaughey at his best. Not his usual studlike movie. A town struck into mourning by almost an entire football teams airplane crash. To re-cooperate a football coach is hired. The students get behind him when the faculty doesn't want to do a first season and he does a great job at pulling that first season, after the crash, together. Shows the contrast in the town and how they dealt with the pain. Some wanted their children to be remembered by not having them play the game again, some wanted the team to go on because they would have wanted them to. Others felt guilty because they weren't on the plane and got to go on living. Great movie...

Arguably the greatest black comedy ever made, Stanley Kubrick's cold-war classic is the ultimate satire of the nuclear age. Dr. Strangelove is a perfect spoof of political and military insanity, beginning when General Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden), a maniacal warrior obsessed with "the purity of precious bodily fluids," mounts his singular campaign against Communism by ordering a squadron of B-52 bombers to attack the Soviet Union. The Soviets counter the threat with a so- called "Doomsday Device," and the world hangs in the balance while the U.S. president (Peter Sellers) engages in hilarious hot-line negotiations with his Soviet counterpart. Sellers also plays a British military attaché and the mad bomb-maker Dr. Strangelove; George C. Scott is outrageously frantic as General Buck Turgidson, whose presidential advice consists mainly of panic and statistics about "acceptable losses." With dialogue ("You can't fight here! This is the war room!") and images (Slim Pickens's character riding the bomb to oblivion) that have become a part of our cultural vocabulary, Kubrick's film regularly appears on critics' lists of the all-time best. --Jeff Shannon

I didn't Laugh Once........2007-09-09
I asked for a bunch of comedies from the 60s & somehow this war satire landed in the pile. At least it was't one of those lame 50's propoganda films & had a somewhat interesting twist; this time an introverted American biggot nutcase is the bad guy, with his own president against him at every step, & Russua is the innocent victim. I couldn't get through more than 1/2 of it.
Peter Sellers at his best!!.......2007-09-01
I have been used to Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther movies but this 1964 movie is WONDERFUL! One movie..three different roles. Dr. Strangelove has stood the test of time since its release. If memory serves me correct this movie was originally to be released in late 1963 but was delayed due to the assassination of President Kennedy. George C.Scott did a superb job in his role. The scene in which the President (Peter Sellers) calling his Russian counterpart was hilarious. Worth watching again!!
funny story but bad timing.......2007-08-28
The first time that I saw this film, I thought it was the funniest.
but now, in this current time frame, it was sad, knowing that a war was
going on and our men were being killed for no good reason.
Sellers at his best!.......2007-08-23
For years I have heard about this movie, and I finally bought it at a time when I had the opportunity to watch it. Wonderful!! Sellers is a comic genius, and the subtly of the laughs is the great thing in Dr. Strangelove.
Better Each Time I See It.......2007-08-22
I have to admit that when I first saw this, it didn't actually make me stop worrying and love the bomb. However, almost everything about it is just perfect- from the gun battle in front of the Air Force's "Peace is our profession" sign to the Russian ambassador taking secret photos in the warroom after the end of the world to Dr. Strangelove's miraculous cure (when my 15 year old daughter recovered from her stroke, I had her rise from her wheelchair and say, "Mein Fuhrer, I can valk!"). Highly recommended as one of the greatest, if grimmest, comedies ever.

I Have never felt better!.......2007-09-13
I am getting married in April and I wanted to really kick it in high gear! This DVD has been so great! The DVD is set up into three individualized circuits for the body. I usually do one or two circuits a day along with the "Total Body Toning Circuit" at the end. I have never felt so good while I was doing a workout! I smile the whole time and the instructor, Minna, gives great instructions! If you are looking for an excellent work out, this is one that truly delilvers!
Minna Lessig's DVD review.......2007-09-10
I enjoyed all aspects of this DVD. Minna explains simply how to properly do each exercise before beginning each set. Once you feel familiar, you can just do a few extra reps. I like the way it is broken down into short sections so you can do just what you can do each time. The music is fun and enjoyable. Minna is encouraging but not over the top. Fun and motivating.
Good Workout.......2007-08-28
Based on a recommendation in Shape magazine and the reviews online I decided to purchase this DVD. The workout targets all the rights areas, but be prepared to be sore the next day! The moves are not new moves but Minna adds a new flare to make them fun.
Tank Top Arms, Bikini Belly, Boy Shorts Bottom.......2007-08-25
I loved this product. All the exercises are great, but I wish it had more for belly.
Good video to target certain areas.......2007-08-19
I really like this video to target the arms, which gives different moves than previous DVDs and other DVDs to target the same area. She is motivating and energetic and that's why I like her so much as an at-home instructor!
