Skateboarding idol Tony Hawk leads beginners through an introductory course, starting with selecting the right equipment and ending with intermediate tricks. Hawk teaches the basics of several of the most popular styles, including street, vert, and grinds on rails, with help from Kris Markovich and Brian Sumner, two other pro skaters. The 39-minute video starts out with Hawk and his sidekicks demonstrating balance on the board and the correct way to push and turn. Then they move on to the ollie, kickflip, shove- it, heelflip, and 180s, and finally more complicated moves like dropping into the mini-ramp and how to kickturn and rock-to-fakie. For the finale, they teach the correct way to boardslide on a rail. These pros spend about five minutes explaining in detail how to carry out each trick correctly (and incorrectly--all of the pros take some entertaining intentional falls showing how not to do a trick; fortunately, they wear helmets and encourage all skaters to wear them). A helpful popup dialogue box offers information about the subject.
This well-produced video is fun to watch, whether or not you are trying to learn tricks, since it also contains skateboarding humor and the culture of boarder life. It's a great video for beginners, and it will still be useful once you master the basics. It also teaches more advanced tricks that will provide a challenge for quite a long time, since, as Hawk himself says, it takes years to master them. --Neal Marks

Good for the kids.......2007-06-01
My son is 6 years old and new to skateboarding. The skateboard scene can be a little mature for that age. I previewed the DVD when it arrived and I founf nothing offensive. Tony Hawk does a good job describing the hows and whys of the sport. The only conflicting message was that some of the other boarders did not wear protective gear. That is the only fault I can find with the DVD.
Cool.......2005-03-08
i'm James and i've watched the Tony Hawk's Trick Tips video and it is awesome because i'm only 12 and thanks to the video, I can
do an ollie, heelflip, pop shuv-it,kickflip,double kickflip, and boardslide.I can also nollie and feeble grind and manual.I've only been skating for 2 or 3 years and this video has been a big help. I would definetly recommend this video to a beginner.

Best Skate DVD ever!!! .......2005-01-18
I got this about a week ago on barnesandnoble.com. It just arrived today. I also borrowed my friend's skate video with Andy Macdonald in it and it was short and did not teach you the tricks that well (I mean that if you ask someone else who knows how to do it, they will say that Andy only said a little part of how to do the trick). His is the average skating video and the stough it teaches are as follows: Ollie, Kickflip, Shuv-it, Heelflip, boardslide, and to always wear a helmet. The video also only took about 30 sec. on each trick. Now, the stough Tony Hawk's trick tips vol. 1 skate boarding basics teaches you are as follows: boards, wheels, trucks ,bearings, safety equipment, pushing, turning, ollies, 180 ollies, shove-its, kickflips, heelflips, pumping on mini-ramps, kickturns, dropping in on mini ramps, rock to fakies, boardslides, lipslides, 50-50 grinds, noseslides, tailslides, 5-0 grinds, nosegrinds, and finally, crooked grinds. Tony also takes about 1-2 min. explaining each trick. What I am trying to say is this video teaches you way better than the competition. I highly recomend it.
Excellent.......2003-10-28
This is an excellent video for beginners (and parents of beginners!). My son is just getting started, after having watched Tony Hawk for many years and playing video games. This video really covers a lot of ground, which parents should also watch. It gives a great start for beginners to learn tricks. Definitely recommended.

While most of the recent outpouring of gay cinema tries to coast on a smile and a little bit of charm, Trick provides some considerable filmmaking cojones to back up its good looks: a talented cast, a witty screenplay, and a sweet sense of romance. Unfolding as part stressed-out fever dream and part farce, Trick chronicles one tumultuous night in the life of aspiring Broadway songwriter Gabe (Christian Campbell), who's suffering from both a heterosexual roommate (who kicks him out when there's female companionship) and a bad case of writer's block. Making an impulsive side trip to a gay bar, he locks eyes with a hunky go-go boy (J.P. Pitoc), who magically appears later that night on the subway, with amorous intentions to boot. Hotfooting their way back to Gabe's apartment, they're interrupted in medias res by Gabe's roommate, girlfriend in tow. From there it's downhill fast, as the two unsuccessfully scramble to find a place to finish things up. On their nighttime odyssey, though, both discover that there's more than sex and heat to their interaction. And much like its premise, Trick evolves from what seems to be a quickie one-night stand to something more substantial, a film with heart and a very funny soul. Jason Schafer's screenplay puts the luckless couple into one bind after another, and furnishes them with incredibly entertaining dialogue; fortunately, both the leads are up to the challenge of bringing it to life. Campbell (Neve's older brother) has a sweet smile and gentle comic timing; the surprise, however, is Pitoc, whose chiseled physique belies both a wicked sense of humor and a sincere-without-being-gooey romantic streak. Both are aided and abetted by a finely tuned supporting cast, most notably Clinton Leupp as an acidic, motor-mouthed drag queen and Tori Spelling in a go-for-broke star turn as Campbell's best friend, a painfully bad singer-actress. By the end of the movie, you'll be entirely won over, and anxiously awaiting a second date and more from these actors and filmmakers. --Mark Englehart

I GAVE THE MOVIE AWAY THIS SUMMER & THE PERSON DID NOT RETURN IT.......2007-09-02
I lent out the movie that I had taped off the TV(and that rat at the hotel front desk on Fire Island never returned it)... BUT now I get to buy the DVD....why is it SOOOOO expensive?......I love this movie on so many levels..a gay movie that is not about TRAGEDY ETC.....a simple,SEXY love story with that Pitoc body that I never get tired of watching, a great screenplay(I have watched this movie over 25 times)...there in NO SEX in the whole movie, just a couple of kisses & that proves a good movie can be made without smut....and it ALL takes place in MY neighborhood.......and the last scene, where he walks across 7th Avenue & you see the Twin Towers, always brings tears to my eyes.... cause I remember that exact picture in my head on a summer morning coming home from a club or whatever. We need someone out there to make more great gay movies like this! GREAT>>>GREAT>>>GREAT GAY MOVIE>>RENT IT
Ok ... that's about it.......2007-08-13
Cute, simple and easy to follow. Not the best acting, but good actors and a decent story. Tory Spelling is annoying as ever. Why she still acts is beyond me but her role is secondary in this movie.
Wonderful, magical!.......2007-06-25
I loved this movie. I LOVED this movie. It is perhaps the sweetest, most charming gay film ever. Strike that. It is perhaps the sweetest, most charming FILM ever. At one point, I thought some of the supporting characters (other than the two leads) were a little too campy, but in the end, even that works for this film by making the main characters seem even more real. While everyone talks about how hunky Jean Paul Pitoc is, and with good reason, I think Christian Campbell is the cutest thing in pants I've ever seen -- you just want to get him in the back seat of your car and shower him with kisses. I loved the way the song, "Enter You" is used in the movie. Early on, Gabriel (Campbell), an aspiring songwriter, presents it at a workshop, as sung by his friend Katherine (Tori Spelling). You can tell the song is catchy and has a lot of potential, but it doesn't go over so well at the workshop. Gabriel hasn't figured out all the lyrics, so Katherine has to sing "la la la" where the words are missing. At the end of the film (a wonderful scene), Gabriel is walking down the street, and he starts singing the song to himself. Suddenly, he comes up with the missing lyrics! The ending is so magical, I've watched it over and over. A movie to fall in love with, especially if you're gay, and even if you're not!
wow.......2007-04-25
loved the movie thought is was a romantic and funny movie all at the same time
Wow!.......2007-03-21
I was surprised by how much I liked this movie. I think the surpising part is I thought it would be on thing and turned out to be another. Diffently not your typical gay movie. Well, do to the director(s) and writter(s)

In the magical realm of David Copperfield's Illusion, seemingly anything is possible. Essentially a "greatest hits" compilation of jaw-dropping illusions from Copperfield's 20-year legacy of highly rated CBS TV specials, this delightful DVD is guaranteed to entertain even the most skeptical critic of Copperfield's glitzy, Vegas-styled stage shows. The master magician is open to ridicule with his GQ looks, Versace wardrobe, atrociously dated hairstyles, and flamboyant posing, but he's the first to admit it, and his crowd-pleasing showmanship is merely the entertaining warm-up for a magic show unparalleled in the history of illusion arts. Featuring Copperfield's former fiancée Claudia Schiffer as a reporter who interviews Copperfield about his life and career, the CBS special 15 Years of Magic provides the bulk of this program, along with a variety of additional tricks and sleight-of-hand mastery.
The best-known illusions are all here (e.g., disappearance of the Statue of Liberty, walking through the Great Wall of China, the imploding building, the vanishing airplane), along with glimpses of artifacts (further detailed in the bonus features) from Copperfield's extensive, one-of-a-kind museum of magic tricks, automatons, and precious historical documents. And while Copperfield's commentary track necessarily avoids any explanation of how his illusions work, he gives generous credit to other illusionists who contributed their copyrighted work to these shows while explaining the logistical circumstances surrounding each illusion. He's also self-deprecating despite an obviously healthy ego, and the clip from Late Night with Conan O'Brien--in which a faux Copperfield performs ridiculous non-tricks on the streets of Manhattan--is a real hoot. Of course, any cynic could dismiss Copperfield's work as the product of precision engineering and rigorous rehearsal, but one simple fact remains: Not a single one of his marvelously staged illusions fails to delight and astonish. It's no mistake that the song "Young at Heart" is prominently featured; Copperfield invites us to embrace a childlike sense of wonder, making us partners in the act of defying everyday reality. Simply put, it's pure magic. --Jeff Shannon

David copperfield's Illusion dvd was one of the most entertaining things I have ever seen. If your a magic buff this is a must have. Now if only Lance Burton,Siegfried & Roy, David Blaine and Brandon Mcnearney would come out with a dvd!!!!!!!!!
Magical!.......2005-11-16
I was lucky enough to see David Copperfield perform on his European tour 10 years ago. It was by far one the most entertaining nights of my life to date. If you think David Copperfield has a magical charisma and aura about him on TV you can easily multiply that by 100 when you see him for real. The magic tricks are mind boggling to say the least. One can only imagine how much time was spent to rehearse and put a show like that together. I applaud David Copperfield for putting a new twist and fresh breath on " old " magic tricks.
A great buy for all David Copperfield fans!.......2005-08-28
If you are any fan of illusion or David Copperfield, this is his "greatest hits"! A great buy as usual from Amazon!

Tony Hawk's Secret Skate park tour.......2004-08-22
I origanally bought this movie, because Rodney Mullen was in it. But after i saw this video I was glad i chose it. It introduced me to some awesome skater's like AleX chlamers, and donny barely. Rodney mullen does increadable handstand flips to primo to like a weird backside triple primo flip thing. The extra's are great to. And an added bonus Tony Hawk skweeks when he says destryod. Awesome Movie, still could of used more mullen though.
Tony Hawk's Secret Skatepark Tour 2003.......2004-08-06
A much different take on the whole tour thing. It shows that these guys are in it primarily for the love of the sport. For example, they stop to skate a full-pipe they randomly spot sticking out of the middle of nowhere. There aren't any other skaters there, just them in this huge dirty pipe not even made for skating.
A big plus is Rodney Mullen, inventor of the kickflip and the heelflip and just about everything else heh. And, we get to see Tony's son Riley more heavily featured than ever before; the little guy throws down double kickflips like they were nothing! There's a menu of extras to explore. Some of the funny ones include Kerry Getz and his tantrum induced shoe-beating/board-smashing breakdowns, and also former pro Jeff Petit who can land stuff every once in a while, but it's way more funny when he doesn't.
Tony gets really worked on this tour. He breaks his ankle and suffers a nasty 12" laceration to the shin, but then he keeps on skating of course. Hey, if you ever wanted to see Tony's fresh tibia, now's your chance! I really enjoyed this video and I hope Tony stays healthy, keeps touring, and never stops making these great DVDs.
natas.......2004-07-21
I picked this DVD up recently and would recommend it. Hawk did a good job casting skaters from different styles and ages. I've been skating since the Bones Brigade days, so it's inspiring to pick up a DVD with great skating from Vallely and Mullen. Speaking of inspiration, watching Sheckler amazed me... and I love seeing the potential this kid has now and for the future of skating. Most the skate videos that I have seen recently, have repititious scenes of rails. This movie offers a good dose of every terrain.
All the unique styles of all the big names on one DVD!!.......2004-07-20
Whether you're a serious skater yourself or just a casual fan of the sport, this film is exceptional and certain to please. While the footage is predominantly skating, you still manage to sense the real human element of these guys.
Tony Hawk is his charming self, Rodney Mullen's tech skills are mind-boggling, Ryan Sheckler proves himself well and truly, Bam Margera stops being an MTV prat, Kerry Getz throws more stuff around...
This is right up there with the best skate films I've seen and I wouldn't've complained a bit if it'd been twice as long as it was. There's just something different about it. It was without doubt worth every penny I paid.

Great Movie!.......2007-07-19
True 80s classic for that heavy metal band headbanger...at one time, this movie was awesome when i was a teen, however, watching it now is "eh!..its OK"...wow..from "awesome" to "OK"...man!..times have change when you grow up..lol. Anyways, its always great to see a "younger" Gene Simmons and Ozzy (which were small roles by the way)..those were the days. But Price in this movie just sucks and it kinda sadden me that at one time they wanted us "teens" to take this movie as "real horror" film..yikes!. However, if you get this film, get it for the music and get it for great memories..other that..its a rental at best.
Ah an 80's Flashback..........2007-05-04
When I first watched this movie, back in the 80's. I loved it. I still know all the songs by heart. So when I saw it on Amazon. I was like awesome..... It was a great movie!!! It has the 80's flare and of course great songs. Not to mention Gene Simmons & Ozzy Osborne. If you grew up in the 80's you will get this movie. If you didn't grow up in the 80's, you won't get this movie! lol
Wonderful Cheese.......2007-04-25
I was a heavy metal fan and a horror fan, but even back then, this movie was a 2&1/2 star product at best. It was great fun to see Ozzy play the reactionary preacher, but for me it was all about [SPOILER ALERT]
Genie (Elise Richards) getting seduced, undressed, and molested in the backseat by a demon named Zeek!
[end spoiler]
This steamy scene is worth the price of the DVD,
[SPOILER ALERT] if you're into watching adorable sweaty girls writhe and moan as their clothes slowly and magically unbutton and come peeling off.
[end spoiler]
I was 12 when that movie came out; what a time to be an adolescent!
We will bring you down!
'Trick or Treat' is a god-awful good movie experience.......2007-04-10
This is one for the 1986 time capsule...
'Trick or Treat' is an obvious product of the suits in Hollywood twidling their thumbs in the board room until one brainiac leaned forward and blurted: "hey, all the kids are into butt-metal right now... how about a sexually ambiguous butt-metal frontman who returns from the grave to kill... and play the high school PROM!!!!"
Genius.
Yeah, it stars the geek who played 'Skip' from 'Family Ties'... and yes we get eye-rolling cameos by Gene Simmons of KISS and Ozzy Osbourne, but man if this little horror turd isn't an unintentional laugh-a-minute flick set to some awesomely bad heavy metal music.
The film centers around high school outcast Eddie Weinbauer, who just can't seem to fit in with the popular crowd. His hatred for his awkwardness is only outweighed by his hardcore love for everything HEAVY METAL, and in particular, rockin' frontman (and apparent political mouthpiece for the 80's generation) Sammi Curr.
Sammi meets an untimely death in a hotel fire, and Eddie is crushed by the news... until he gets a present from Gene Simmons the day before Halloween.
The KISS bassist (but here playing a local radio DJ) hands over a record of Sammi's unreleased music. Eddie plays it, then the record plays itself (I know, bear with me here), and it turns out the newly barbecued Sammi Curr is using the record to communicate with Eddie to help him become cool.
Wackiness ensues... people die... and best of all, YOU get to laugh as it all unfolds.
I caught this ON DEMAND and my girlfriend and I oddly enough fell in love with its cheesy, 80's feel. The DVD is a piece of arse... one of the worst I've ever come across. But, if it's the only way I can own 'Trick Or Treat', I'll take it for six bucks. Maybe we'll get a special 10-Disc edition in the near future.
Rock On.
Trick or Treat is a cool horror flick.......2007-03-20
I've seen this movie the first time on COMCAST on demand & then after viewing it,I've decided to purchase this movie, because it's so cool, especially with two great metal legends of both bands KISS & Black Sabbath Gene Simmons & Ozzy Osbourne who both star in this movie. I must say that I'm very happy with my purchase of the dvd "Trick or Treat".

Now, for the first time, their diverse talents come together for DC's first ever skateboarding video.

DC Video.......2007-08-13
This DVD features some excellent skate footage. However, it's not long enough (only 40 mins) and the accompanying booklet, advertised at 86 pages long, was only 8 pages. Slight error there. So why am I giving it 4 stars? Because the level of skating is so good.
Son of Decorum
A little short, but amazing skating........2006-06-01
I am an avid skater and have a couple skate vids on limewire (Baker 3, DVS skate more, Almost round three, Flip really sorry and some others) but The DC Video was not on my list. I first heard about it when my friend reccomended it to me. It was a little short but had some amazing skating in it. The switch skating in it was incredible, especially Anthony Van Engleen, Josh Kalis, Stevie Williams, and Brian Wennings parts. Lindsey Robertson, Ryan Smith, and Ryan Gallent showed there smoothness in skateboarding.
But my highest praise goes to Danny Way, amazing vert skater. Something to see if you skate.
Excellent DVD!.......2006-03-16
This is an awesome dvd! The movie was well made, good soundtracks, had many bonus features, great tricks, and just exciting to watch. It was a brand new product at a very great price. I definitely recommend this to all avid skaters out there.
DC VIDEO equals awesome.......2006-01-11
By far the best skate film I have seen in years, if not the best skate film i have ever seen. I bought it on DVD when it came out and two days ago i bought it on UMD for the PSP and let me say if you have a PSP buy the DC VIDEO on UMD it has Danny Way jumping the Great Wall of China and a bunch of other cool bonus features, you can pick it up from a company called Silver Platter.
This video has some of the best skating I have seen in years, Stevie Williams tears it up as do all their other riders. The skits with Big Black Rob Dyrdeks personal security guard are hilarious. This is truely a skate video like none other.
Pretty good video.......2005-08-18
This video is shorter than other skate videos I've watched but it is still amazingly entertaining. What makes this video unique is Danny Way and the gigantic ramps built by DC. You should get the video just for that. It shows the amazing accomplishments and endurance of today's best, while also showing how far skating has come.

Join Alvin and his brothers Simon and Theodore for this hilarious Halloween adventure. Alvin wants to be accepted into the Monster Club, but the Monster members seem to think its cool to be cruel. It takes Theodore's friendship to Michael, a misunderstood outcast the other kids call Pumpkinhead, to show Alvin that being a true friend is really a lot more cool than trying to be a popular Monster! There are plenty of laughs and surprises and music, including the Chipmunk's rendition of the hit song "Monster Mash" to make this a monstrously fun video any time of the year!

Kids loved it. We rented this movie so many times that we finally decided to buy. The kids watch it all year round.
Average enough kiddie fare for Halloween, but not much more than that........2006-12-20
Chip and Dale aren't the only squeaky-voiced chipmunks in the realm of animation. Around the same period these two critters were born out of the Disney studio, another trio would challenge their position--Simon, Theodore, and the ever-irrepressible scamp, Alvin. Creations of musician Ross Bagdasarian (who, incidentally, had the stage name of David Seville, the mild-mannered human who "fathers" the chipmunks), these three have amused many through their numerous record albums and television shows.
This DVD compiles several episodes from the 1980's series, as well as a 1994 Halloween special, "Trick or Treason", in which egocentric Alvin aspires to be part of a monster club while Theodore strikes up a friendship with a malformed, misunderstood boy. This special, capped off by a kitschy "Chipmunk" rendition of "Monster Mash" is probably the best on the disc, with solid production values, humor, and a couple of nice (albeit predictable) twists. (Considering it is a 1994 production, such polish is to be expected.)
On the other hand, the remaining episodes (where the "boys" deal with a seemingly menacing babysitter, a monster movie, practical jokes, and nightmares) are a mixed bag. For kids unfamiliar with Alvin and company from the '60s or the curious, this is passably entertaining fare. Unfortunately, my mother (who had grown up with the "old" Alvin), found these latter episodes to be uninspired and predictable--with production values on par with, well, an 80's TV cartoon and only a number of mildly amusing moments. It's not bad stuff for Halloween or a rainy day, all in all, but Alvin, Simon, and Theodore have had better outings--try THE CHIPMUNK ADVENTURE or A CHIPMUNK CHRISTMAS instead.
These Episodes Do NOT Contain the Original Opening Sequence!!.......2006-11-06
Attention nostalgia fans-
If you buy these old cartoons partly for nostalgia, like I do, then you know that being able to see the original opening sequence of the show is all important. It's what you remember most about the show. However, while these are episodes from the 1980s "Alvin and the Chipmunks" cartoon show, these episodes do NOT contain the original opening sequence that started the show. The theme song is there, but it's not the same animated opening sequence. They instead substituted it for some other sequence that I didn't recognize. So, if you want to see the original opening of this cartoon show, you may want to wait for another DVD or DVD set to come out.

Very easy to learn.......2007-06-20
Stephane is amazing! (and not just his looks ;) When you first see the tricks you think it will take years to be able to do them, but almost all of them only took minutes to learn and a little more time to get pretty good at. I purchased this DVD for my niece and couldn't stop watching it with her! We had a blast performing for our family who was totally blown away and insisted on knowing our magic secrets. A fantastic product that we'll enjoy for years to come.
How to Get Laid.......2007-06-19
Sorry for being blunt, but that's what guys want to know! I don't know of an easier way to break the ice than a magic trick, and the ones that Vanel teaches on this DVD are so frickin' easy to learn/master that they will NO DOUBT get you conversing with whomever you want while making you out to be a rockstar at the same time. The rest is up to you, but how can you pass on an advantage like that?

It's Magical !.......2006-12-12
This DVD is a great easy-to-follow instructional program that shows you how to use everyday objects as magical props to impress your friends and family. I found out about this DVD after viewing an episode of Criss Angel's Mindfreak on A&E last Thursday, featuring Chadakazam. He become my inspiration.....
The instructor is no ordinary magician. After learning he had cancer in 1991, 3-year-old Chad Juros spent a lot of time in the hospital with his father, who taught him everything he knew about sleight-of-hand tricks. Now cancer free, Chadakazam performs around the country -- even on the White House lawn!
Great DVD for everyone!!!.......2006-11-10
Fun and enjoyable for kids and curious parents! It's divided into 4 categories:
1) Card tricks -including 8 different card tricks such as: The Impassible, Mystery card trick, the deck Talks, and my favorite, Traveling card.
2) Money tricks -including 5 effective tricks with money such as; The French Drop, Coin Matrix, Quarter through table and more
3) Everyday Objects -tricks with easy to find things around the house such as napkins, pens, rubber bands and more (7 tricks)
4) Rope Magic - includes 5 tricks such as Knot Off Rope, Cut and Restore rope, Shortening & Lengthening, Instantly One...
The DVD has interactive menu, which without hassle allows you to go to the trick you like the most and practice it over and over.
The instructor is young yet speaks intelligently, and the way he explains the tricks are done makes you want to learn them all.
I find this DVD very entertaining and highly recommend it to all!

As far as self working magic tricks go, this has some good ones........2006-09-08
As far as simple self working magic tricks go, this video has some good ones. Most of these still have the "Step right up, young man, and watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat..." Type feel to them, but are still good tricks.
There is an opening that just goes on and on forever, with tricks that he never explaines in the DVD, but it gives you an idea of how good he is at parlor-trick type magic.
Eveything is well explained, and easy to follow. It's well worth the money for the card tricks I learned here, and it's a good start for anyone who wants to get their feet wet in the world of magic. My first magic DVDs were this, and Magic Frank. Both are great for kids, and fun to use on kids, as well as the less critical adults. After you step up from these DVDs check out Penguin and ellusionist for the more advanced magic that can really WOW anyone.

Kid Tested, Mother Approved........2005-01-25
This is a great series! My son is 11 and very into skateboarding. I worry about some of the language and images involved in alot of skateboarding movies, magazines and games. This is top notch, I think Tony has a real sense for keeping it kid friendly.
The photography was great, I love the way they show the tricks in slowmo again and again so you can see every detail. Tony chats with other pro boarders at a sunny skatepark and discusses the ins and outs of each trick. Very laid back like you are part of the conversation. I would recommend the whole series, there is so much to learn and it is a great value. My son has watched it over and over and over again. You could say I got my moneys worth.
This Is A Great DVD Set.......2004-05-21
I watched this DVD box set and it is the best. It is really good for people just starting out or for people who are learning advance tricks. And it is cheaper to buy the box set than to buy the Tony Hawk's Trick Tips DVDs seperate. I really enjoyed this DVD!!! Anyone who likes Skateboarding should get this DVD Box Set!!!
