Pretty good video.
Lee goes around and interviews various people regarding the arguments for the existence of God. I have to admit that the does good job, and the arguments are short, concise, clear, and convincing. Some philosophical arguments are very old, while scientific (i.e. irreducible complexity) is newer.
I wonder greatly WHY nobody celebrated on the idea of "irreducible complexity" before Behe? It seems SO obvious!! When you listen to it, you say... 'it seems like I always knew it, it's so obvious'.

IF you wearing pink glasses of naturalistic dogmatism -
THEN avoid this video, since it may disturb you.

IF you open to see what's up with this "intelligent design movement" -
THEN watch it with no preconceived assumptions and you may actually come to know about God.

IF you are a believer -
THEN watch this video to build up your faith.

Very Informative and Scientific.......2007-05-07

This video is very thorough in discussing several different scientific thoughts on the origin of creation. It also has good commentary from Lee about why he went on his search.

I would recommend this to middle schoolers on up. But if you show it to teens, do not show it all at once because it is pretty in depth in terms of scientific discussion.

Thought Provoking and Personal.......2006-12-07

This video has some overlap with the other excellent videos from Illustra Media, "The Privileged Planet" and "The Mystery of Life". This video is different because of the personal story of Lee Strobel, former atheist and writer for the Chicago Tribune. It starts with Lee's decision for atheism finallized by the Miller experiment in which amino acids were created in a lab. In a section called "the Negative Evidence", Lee debunks this and other faulty experiments and evidences that appear to support Darwinism. Lee finds that the reasons that he became an atheist do not stand on a solid foundation.

Then he takes a look at the "Positive Evidence", which is used in the Intelligent Design argument to indicate the necessity for a cosmic designer. One memorable example is an illustration that has a ruler spanning the length of the universe. The claim is that atomic gravity is set with such precision that if it were to strengthen or weaken one inch on this ruler (comparing length of the ruler to strength of gravity), the atom would either collapse on itself or split apart. So what made physics like named in this example, so precise? These arguments need more expansion and examination before they can be brought to conclusion. Lee includes the best argument to date for design, which appears to be the existence of cellular function, complexity, specificity and irreducible complexity. (To those unfamiliar with these terms, this video has an introductory use of most of them)

Overall, it is a little less technical that Illustra's other films, but its purpose is to delve into the human side via personal story. Lee Strobel concludes with how these findings in science are significant to each one of us.

Not quite bulletproof apologetics........2006-10-14

I just watched Lee Strobel's The Case for a Creator DVD. Right off the bat, he doesn't have a sufficient apologetic paradigm. He argues that amino acids couldn't have formed because of the disputed constituents of the "primordial soup." So what if they can create acids in a laboratory, let them create salts for all I care. The question is life, which is supernatural, not matter which is natural. Can they make a conscious observer? Strobel is playing their game on their rules. With the ammo he's loading, I could play devil's advocate and win the debate. I appreciate his motives, but I would recommend Unlocking the Mysteries of Life instead. It is documentary with airtight molecular evidence refuting evolution.

Exuding the charm and grace for which he seems to hold the patent, Peter O'Toole plays Doctor Harry Wolper, a renowned research biologist whose pet project is to clone his sorely missed wife, dead now for 30 years. Assisting him in fine fashion are Meli (Mariel Hemingway), a self-proclaimed 19-year-old nymphomaniac bent on capturing the affections of Dr. Wolper, and a research assistant (Vincent Spano), whose love interest is fellow student Virgina Madsen. This sweet and enjoyable romantic comedy is brought to a head when the Madsen character drops suddenly into a coma. Then Wolper's nemesis, played almost lovably by David Ogden Stiers, thwarts his cloning attempts by reclaiming the stolen equipment he's using to do so. While Dr. Wolper preaches the beauty of The Big Picture as a way of apprehending life, this one is decidedly a small picture, but in the sense of being attuned to small details, probably owing to the foreign sensibilities of Czech director Ivan Passer (Cutter's Way). The many disparate plot threads are eventually brought into harmony, though the sheer number of them may seem a jumble to many viewers. Better to let the big picture take care of itself, and content oneself with the many smaller pleasures this delightful film affords. --Jim Gay

Peter O'Toole's best work to date. Ms Hemingway was excellent in this film despite the fact that it was one her first starring roles ('Lipstick' may have been filmed first). This movie will bring happy tears to your eyes... It is an incredible story about a Scientist who wishes to clone his dead wife and his relationship with the woman who volunteers to help him do so. This and 'The Doctor' are classics and must see - must have in your library or collection of art/films. I always recommend buying TWO of the classics so you can share or loan one to others. You WILL want to share it...

Peter O'Toole is perhaps one of the greatest actors of all time. It's time he won what he most definetly deserves. This film was brilliant, sad, happy, and meaningful to a point. Do not go through life without seeing this film before you go to the great beyond. A Masterwork by some of the most gifted actors. The book was a mess to read and understand.

I must have watched a different movie from the others here because I thought this one was pretty bad! Slow moving and not worth my time to see. This rates 3 big yawns.

Creator is a delightful movie combining comedy and drama and raises questions about life and ultimate issues. I loved the continuing reference to "the big picture" which is something we keep losing sight of because of day to day concerns. Don't miss this film.

An overlooked gem.......2005-03-07

This is one of the most obscure movies ever made by Peter O'Toole, undeservedly so. It's by turns whimsical, dramatic, romantic, and heartrending, with a cast that makes the most of a rather peculiar story. Nobody does the absent-minded professor bit better than O'Toole, David Odgen Steirs is sanctimonious and self-centered as usual, and Hemingway was an outstanding choice for the flaky Mellie. Even the theme (String Trio Rock, which has, sadly, never been released) will reverberate in your head for days afterward.

The biggest disappointments about this disc are the pan-and-scan presentation, which was poorly executed, and the lack of extras on the disc; no background, commentary, soundtrack information, discographies, or featurettes were included.

Mind-Blowing!.......2006-12-12

I saw this when it aired on television and am excited to see that it is now available on DVD. Like a lot of people, I suppose, I struggled at times with my faith; particularly as a student in college who gets hit all the time by my "well-educated" professors with all the reasons smart, scientifically informed people, like Laplace famously said, "don't need the (God) hypothesis." This program does a great job of showing how truly smart, unbiased scientists who study the cosmos are relying upon the "God hypothesis" more and more.

As a Christian and a high school teacher, I'm always looking for ways to provoke thought and discussion about deeper, metaphysical issues -- a real challenge in this day of MTV and Gameboys. The Evidence is a perfect tool for this. Not only does it address some of the biggest questions of all (Where did the universe come from? Why are its laws so fine-tuned and, perhaps more importantly, comprehensible to the human mind?) it does it in an interesting and non-preachy way. Equally important for me as someone with her finger in the dike of the public school system, it should also pass the ACLU "smell test." Come on Christian producers, give me more of the same!

No New Age Nonsense Here.......2006-12-09

I just had to respond after reading the last review. Given the films he does recommend, it's obvious that his problem with The Evidence is primarily theological. As a Christian and strong proponent of Intelligent Design, I loved this documentary. If your beliefs tend towards the New Age/monism/pantheism/Buddhism, "Dancing Wu Li Masters"-type of religion, you won't like this program. Or the Bible. Or the Truth.

Flimsiest DVD on God & Physics Out There - WASTE.......2006-09-25

I have seen numerous DVDs on quantum physics and research around thought, the universe and matter. This is the biggest waste of money out there. The host is annoying, the film is poorly edited and contains nothing but surface information - if you want good material, buy THE SECRET, Your Immortal Brain, What the Bleep Do We Know and many others. This one is a HUGE rip-off.

Knocking on Heaven's Door.......2006-05-22

I'll never forget reading George Greenstein's "Symbiotic Universe" and being stunned by his admission early on in the book: that the growing mountain of evidence that the universe was designed by some infinite Intelligence (something this DVD wonderfully makes clear)literally sent him into a depression bordering on a psychotic episode. His final resolution of the evidence ultimately wasn't to do what renowned ex-atheist Anthony Flew had the integrity and/or guts to do -- acknowledge that theism was the most intellectually honest resolution of the facts. Instead he retreats to the "just so" perspective of the Weak Anthropic Principle (WAP) and then proceeds to celebrate the intricacies of the design that really isn't proof of a godlike designer!

What particularly interesting about this DVD is that most of the scientists interviewed (and the line-up is pretty incredible)acknowledge pretty much the same thing: that there sure looks to be a Creator who designed the cosmos but then stop short of saying that there is in fact a God.

Fascinating stuff and a DVD that will sure to provoke all kinds of intreresting discussion and debate. Highly recommended.
