The Texas comic and co-star of Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie ponders the absurdity of fashionable eyewear ("Why do sunglasses cost more than a 25-inch TV?") and much else in the live performance Ron White: They Call Me Tater Salad. Looking as if he just woke up from a nap (or is on his third beer), White contemplates eros with the inarguable "You see one woman nekkid... you want to see them all nekkid." A veteran of hurricane country, he contemplates those idiots who insist they're strong enough to sit out big storms: "If you're hit by a Volvo, it doesn't matter how many sit-ups you did that morning." On wedding anniversaries: "Diamonds--that'll shut her up." Some of White's material is unnecessarily crude for such a clever guy, but the best stuff, including a funny monologue about his half-mad, deer-hunting cousin, makes up for it. --Tom Keogh

If you have heard "Drunk in Public" there's little reason to bother with this DVD as about 90% of the material on the CD is on the DVD. Definitely give this a look if you want to know what "Tater Salad" is all about.

By now most people have seen this on TV for free several times, so a purchase may be only reserved for the fanatic. If so, go for it. A review of this is nearly worthless because Ron's reputation for popularity speaks for itself.

Ron White is SO MUCH better than his Blue Collar buddies. Tater Salad had me and my husband ROLLING on the floor with laughter. The DVD is fantastic. This is an EXCELLENT buy.

Ron White is wonderful on this. His delivery style is so funny and there is an honesty about him that makes the jokes that much more real to the listener. It feels like he takes most of his believable material from his life and then gives it just the right amount of embellishment. He is usually unpredictable and hysterical because you don't expect what he says, but before he says it, you do SUSPECT him! Easy to watch over and over and over because he gets such pleasure out of what he is doing that he makes you comfortable watching him. He doesn't need to be disgusting, crude, or swear every other word like some do to be funny. You'll love this.

Keep up with new material, Ron!.......2006-05-22

Ron White is obviously very talented and entertaining. I love his delivery (ciggy in one hand, whiskey in the other) but the thing that really bothers me is his redundancy. I swear, he must have used the same jokes for the past 15 years. Ron, you're very talented, but please come up with new material. I just saw his new movie (You Can't Fix Stupid) and I was delightfully surprised with his new material. Keep it up, Ron! I've seen both Blue Collar movies, both of his solo movies, and the Redneck Comedy Roundup. He hardly changed a word of his act in the majority of the previously mentioned movies. Please keep the new stuff coming! I love you Ron, but the same 10 jokes really start to grind on you after awhile.
