ONE OF THE BEST MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER VOLUME OF ALL TIME!.......2007-08-18
I HAVE RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS VOLUME, AND I LOVE IT. EVERY SINGLE EPISODE IN THIS VOLUME IS SIDESPLITTINGLY HILARIOUS. GIRL IN GOLD BOOTS AND OVERDRAWN AT THE MEMORY BANK (WITH THE LATE GREAT RAUL JULIA!) ARE MEMORABLY VERY FUNNY. BUT THE CREAM OF THE CROP IS SPACE MUTINY. JUST TO GET THIS FILM IS WORTH GETTING THE WHOLE VOLUME! IT IS SO APPALLINGLY BAD THAT THE CREATORS AT MST3K REALLY LET THEM HAVE IT. I DEFINETLY RECOMMEND VOLUME 4 AND I ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMEND VOLUMES 9 AND 10. TRUST ME, THIS VOLUME IS IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO LAUGH.
A Classic.......2007-07-23
A manditory part of any misty's collection. Just think: "Overdrawn At the Memory Bank", "Space Mutiny" two very funny movies. others were pretty funny as well. One of the best sets yet!
Funny, Witty and just a bit (the good kind of ) Stupid!.......2006-08-07
This is a classic show! I used to watch these as a kid on the SciFi channel and they are just as funny now that I am an adult! The characters are great, and you will think that they made the movies up because they are just that bad... The best part about this, is that when my sister-in-law was a kid and these were on TV, she saw her favorite movie as the subject of one of them. I wont reveal which movie, but it is pretty funny when you recognise one of these!
Amazingly funny!!!!!.......2006-05-18
This is a great set. This was my first, but now I have 5 sets. I love MST3K!
Everything I Touch Turns To Flies.......2006-05-07
When MST3K came to the Sci-Fi Channel in 1997, it was understood that the movies up for MST'ing would be bad science fiction/horror movies (and let's face is, there are billions of them; at least a thousand are being made as I write this, I am sure). And the first two Sci-Fi seasons consisted mostly of science fiction and horror movies. But in its last season, all that changed.
Witness "Girl in Gold Boots." It's horrible, to be sure, but not a horror movie, unless you count the fact that the titular girl dances in a go-go joint called "The Haunted House." And if you are looking for a reason to buy this collection, this is the stand-out episode. Fanboys laud "Space Mutiny" as the best thing Mike, Servo and Crow ever did in the history of the show, and although I agree it is a fine episode, it is not my favorite. And I am not entirely comfortable with Mike and the bots riffing on Shakespeare, even if it is a stagy German film of "Hamlet". And God knows "Overdrawn At the Memory Bank" has its legions of fans and to this day I sometimes sing, "Come as you are to my mall, to my a-a-trium." But "Girl in Gold Boots" - consider it "Manos! The Musical!"
There is just so much to love about "Girl in Gold Boots." The movie itself - a kind of badly lit, badly written, badly directed, badly acted version of "Rebel Without a Cause," if James Dean's character had been a homicidal maniac and Sal sang bad folk songs and Natalie worked at a greasy spoon. What the movie wants to say, at least from the hilarious trailer included in the DVD, is that young people in the 60s faced many temptations - drugs, committing petty crime, dancing, oily club owners, girls not only in gold boots, but also in silver boots. But if they held tight to their beliefs, listened to their hearts and played their guitars in the rain, they could find the right path.
The riffing in "Girl in Gold Boots" is impeccable. My hat is eternally off to Tom Servo for his "Charles Manson is walking the streets/The Zodiac Killer's at large/Charles Bukowski is puking out the window/and Santa Claus is on his way!" during the epic drive into L.A. And how lovely of Crow to note Buz's teleportation into a scene in a bar with a snappy "I'm back!" and calling the trio "natural born cheapskates" as they decide how to divide up the bill. And Mike - Oh, Mike - he just had to ruin Buz's moment in the sun, marveling over his front-page worthy gas station heist in which he stole $40 and left the attendant slightly injured. Luckily the crime was committed on a day when L.A. was riot-free. Like wow, man.
I implore the powers that be to keep the Sci-Fi episodes rolling on DVD. Let's all collectively pray that "Riding With Death," "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed-Up Zombies," "The Agent From H.A.R.M.," "The Thing That Wouldn't Die," and "Werewolf" all make their way safely to one of these collections very soon.
Always remember: keep your silver bra filled with breasts!

This farewell episode for Joel Hodgson is a sentimental favorite but even more worth it for the hilarity spawned by our captured Satellite of Love friends. The movie centers on the hapless, big lug cop named Mitchell (Joe Don Baker), who fights the rich and powerful drug-dealing bad guys. Along the way, Mitchell finds himself investigating murder, falling "in sex" with Linda Evans, helping an elderly woman like a good son, and telling a bothersome wisecracking kid to buzz off. Match that with clothing and music from 1975 and you've got prime fodder for the biting remarks of Joel, Crow, and Tom Servo--which, of course, they take advantage of handily and in abundance. Mitchell has a few quiet areas but these are spotty, and when Joel and his mechanical friends start wisecracking, it's all hilariously worth the wait. Mitchell: So '70s, you'd swear Kris Kristofferson was moaning the theme song in the background. --Karen Karleski

This makes Driving Miss Daisy Look Like Bullet.......2007-09-12
One of the BEST MST3K's EVER! I love it Watch it over and over... Laugh every time.
'We're home Mitchell honey, Put your shoes on!'.......2007-06-08
Joe Don Baker is my hero. Apparently he has it in for the produces of MST3K for riffing this film so mercilessly, which just makes me love him all the more.
'Johnny Matthis!'
Just watch it!.......2007-01-14
I laugh until I choke every time I watch this and have for almost 15 years now. Ah, what a sad day when Joel left the Satellite. I'm still grieving nearly half my current lifetime later. Mitchell is a perfect introduction to the glory days of MST and you'll be hard pressed not to love it. If ever there was a perfect movie to be riffed by those sacred Midwestern nerds, this was it.
And I've Been Afraid of it All These Years...........2006-12-31
Actually, the full line is, "Hey, that shower wasn't so bad, and I've been afraid of it all these years..." It's what Crow says after Mitchell comes out of the bathroom in a robe. Yes, the title character of this movie takes a lot of riffing at the hands of the Satellite of Love crew, and that's just one of the things that makes this particular episode a must-see.
Joe Don Baker stars as Mitchell, a loveable, beer-drinking cop who sleeps with hookers and does things his own way...yet has a terrible eating disorder. Mitchell isn't an easy film to get through, but Joel, Tom, and Crow once again make the unbearable bearable via a constant flow of humorous remarks. Tom says Mitchell "likes to top off his beer drinking with another beer. It's like dessert." And when Mitchell is getting roughed up by thugs, we hear, "If they're not careful they'll end up with Mitchell's dinner all over them." Not to mention when Mitchell struggles to get up off the couch, some noises are made that aren't exactly flattering.
At least 75% of the comments in this episode are aimed directly at title character, and yet the character is so disgustingly likable that the comments never get old.
No review can do this episode justice. Just go out and have a laugh at poor old Joe Don Baker's expense. Hoyt Axton's "My, My, Mitchell" song will help you along the way.
One of my favorite MST3K's........2006-12-19
I was a fan of the show when it was on TV, although I must admit I probably haven't watched that many of the episodes considering how many of them there are. I turned my husband on to it after we got married and he brought this treasure home as a gift one day. I hadn't ever seen this one so I was pleasantly surprised when we sat down to watch it and laughed (hard) throughout the entire thing. Gems such as "Hey, the headlight fixed itself" run through the whole movie. I promise you won't be disappointed with this one if you are a MST3K fan.

Nothing captures the peculiar pastiche of the pop-cultural zeitgeist like Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K to fans). The formula is simple: subject a hapless temp worker, Mike Nelson, and his robot friends, Tom Servo and Crow, marooned in space to the worst B, C, even Z-grade movies imaginable and record the results. On The Wild World of Batwoman, they quip through a movie summed up best by Crow: "It looks like they just put a whole lotta movies in a blender and turned it on really fast!" The plot of the movie is hapless at best, inexplicably puncuated by bikini-clad "Batgirls" go-go dancing with guns (Mike quips: "That's 40 pounds of butt in pants with a 30-pound capacity."). The episode starts with a '50s educational short on student cheating that is so dour in tone that Tom wonders, "Is this Ingmar Bergman's first American movie?" In a sub-skit, Tom and Crow go mano a mano (or roboto a roboto) trying to out-shun each other: "I double shun you." Tom trumps with, "I shun you version 3.0 for Windows." The worse the movie, the better and more wacky the MST3K episode; never has subpar art ever inspired such heights of hilarity, and Batwoman is as bad as they come. Which means it's great. Get it? --Tod Nelson
Description
A mad scientist attempts to drive his captive, Mike Nelson, insane by forcing him to watch B-Movies. This episode's feature is "The Wild World of Batwoman" (1966, 70min.) - Batwoman struggles to help her recover a mad scientist's invention, an atomic bomb hearing aid, before the evil villian, Rat Fink, can use it for his own personal agenda.
Customer Reviews:
So bad it's good.......2007-07-26
Great episode of MST3000 but truely Col Kurtz must have been watching this movie when he said in Apocolypse Now " the horror the horror". LOL
One of the most ridiculous movies ever made. MST3000 RIGHTFULLY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THIS........2007-01-10
This movie is a mish-mash of go-go girls, a bat-woman (like Batgirl), a mad scientist named "Ratfink" and various other stupid characters. MST3000 skewers this, I especially liked the part when "You got my Mole Peoole in My Batwoman movie!" The opening 50's educational vignette on "Cheating" is absolutely hilarious.
This One Obviously Slipped Through the Cracks.......2007-01-01
You know...studios have many, many choices in what movies they decide to produce. Yet, there are times when the poorest choice of them all is the one that is actually made. The Wild, Wild World of Batwoman is about as bad of a movie as a studio can possibly produce. Awful sets, awful story, awful sound, awful costuming, the list goes on and on. It proves to be an easy target for the crew of the Satellite of Love.
There's pretty much no plot. Batwoman and her troop of hot girls do random things - dancing around with guns mostly. One of the girls is kidnapped and held hostage by two scientists who are an embarassment, even to a film as bad as this. They're both clearly, clearly non-actors. The top villian, Rat-Fink, is a fairly decent actor though. Too bad he's dressed like a Mexican wrestler.
Rat-Fink is doing something bad, but I never can figure out what it is, no matter how many times I watch this pile of you-know-what. All I know is he makes monsters in his laboratory (that is, if you are allowed to call a few shots of mis-matched footage from "The Mole People" by the term "monsters") and he clones himself several times over. Batwoman goes after Rat-Fink using a cheap prop for a gun that the SOL crew identifies as a microphone.
There's a pill that makes people dance, and a seance scene involving fake Chinese, and about fifty other awful concepts that went into the making of this abomination. This is clearly a must-own for any bad movie collector or MST3K fan. It's so bad, it's shocking even to those who've seen the worst of the worst. Highly recommended.
didn't work.......2006-10-22
I ordered a copy of the Wild World of Batwoman from Amazon and doesn't work. When I first got it, it almost played on my DVD/VCR television and it wouldn't play on my PS2. Now it won't play on any DVD player.
I want a new one
Not The Best MST3K, But Fun.......2006-01-29
As is sometimes the case, especially in these earlier episodes, the movie can't quite be saved. There isn't enough here for Mike and the bots to rip on continuously; there are long periods where no characters talk and nothing worth noting happens. As funny as the whole thing manages to be, it lacks the re-use value of an MST3K film like 'Mitchell' or 'The Painted Hills.' You'll probably watch it a good deal less than you might watch a triumph of awfulness like 'The Giant Spider Invasion,' but it is worth having because of how easy it is to obtain.
