Ever spend eight hours in a "Productivity Bin"? Ever had worries about layoffs? Ever had the urge to demolish a temperamental printer or fax machine? Ever had to endure a smarmy, condescending boss? Then Office Space should hit pretty close to home for you. Peter (Ron Livingston) spends the day doing stupefyingly dull computer work in a cubicle. He goes home to an apartment sparsely furnished by IKEA and Target, then starts for a maddening commute to work again in the morning. His coworkers in the cube farm are an annoying lot, his boss is a snide, patronizing jerk, and his days are consumed with tedium. In desperation, he turns to career hypnotherapy, but when his hypno-induced relaxation takes hold, there's no shutting it off. Layoffs are in the air at his corporation, and with two coworkers (both of whom are slated for the chute) he devises a scheme to skim funds from company accounts. The scheme soon snowballs, however, throwing the three into a panic until the unexpected happens and saves the day. Director Mike Judge has come up with a spot-on look at work in corporate America circa 1999. With well-drawn characters and situations instantly familiar to the white-collar milieu, he captures the joylessness of many a cube denizen's work life to a T. Jennifer Aniston plays Peter's love interest, a waitress at Chotchkie's, a generic beer-and-burger joint à la Chili's, and Diedrich Bader (The Drew Carey Show) has a minor but hilarious turn as Peter's mustached, long-haired, drywall-installin' neighbor. --Jerry Renshaw
Description
Unable to endure another mind-numbing day at Initech Corporation, cubicle slave Peter Gibbons (Ron Livingston) gets fired up and decides to get fired. Armed with a leisurely new attitude and a sexy new girlfriend (Jennifer Aniston), he soon masters the art of neglecting his work, which quickly propels him into the ranks of upper management! Now the stage is set for Peter to carry out a high-tech embezzling scheme that's sure to mean the end of his job and a one-way ticket to easy street. Can he pull it off before all corporate hell breaks loose?
Customer Reviews:
This Movie is Hilarious!!!.......2007-09-13
This movie is so funny, my husband and I can't get enough of it. This is not one for kids to watch with lots of bad language and rap songs in this movie. A lot of the business aspects of this movie you can relate in some way or another. I highly recommend this movie if you want a good laugh!
One of the Classics.......2007-09-03
This is in my top 5 movies of all time. My other favorites include Monty Python The Holy Grail, and Dumb and Dumber.
Absolutly pure genius.......2007-08-27
This has been a favorite of mine for a while, if you havn't seen it then treat yourself, if you have then you know what I mean!
realistically funny for the office worker.......2007-08-23
This movie is hilarious.... I thought it was amazing as I watched it in college; however now that I have a full-time job, the funny parts of this movie are things I encounter on a day-to-day basis.
A timeless movie that (frighteningly) will never grow old.......2007-08-22
As long as corporate America insists on treating people like farm animals or widgits, Office Space is going to hit home on several levels: It is a wickedly funny parody of life as a Cube Farm inhabitant; it is dead-on in all the silly and ultimately pointless exercises that upper management goes through to justify itself; and it caters to every worker's fantasy of some day Stickin' it to The Man.
There are numerous weirdly comical moments, as when the lead character, Peter Gibbons, is reclaiming his life and his sanity at the office while a rap song about "it's good to be a gangster" booms in the background; and the hysterical juxtaposition of white, straight-arrow geek programmer Michael Bolton swaying in his car to some truly off-color rap lyrics. The mumbling, goggle-eyed character Milton Waddams (EVERY office has one, you know it does) almost steals the whole show with his obsessiveness about his red Swingline stapler.
I have worked with many of the characters in this movie, and only wish that, like Peter, I had recognized far earlier in my "career" that people are not meant to live in fabric-lined enclosures and fret over things like mission statements and TPS reports.
Although the movie is a bit dated now in terms of how people dress, etc., and the rap songs in the soundtrack might be offensive to some, Office Space is a movie you will want to watch several times, so you can absorb all of the lessons it has to offer.

Gimme some Space.......2006-07-20
If they made a live-action "Dilbert" movie, it might resemble "Office Space" -- a hysterically funny office film by Mike Judge (of "Beavis & Butthead" fame). Filled with quirky characters and a hilarious employee rebellion, this is a movie for anyone who ever felt trapped in a soul-destroying job.
Peter (Ron Livingston) spends every day in a cubicle, doing pointless work under the thumb of his smarmy boss. His life is boring, and he doesn't even have the confidence to tell the pretty waitress (Jennifer Aniston) that he likes her. In an effort to relax, he accompanies his controlling girlfriend to a hypnosis session. Unfortunately, the hypnotist dies of a heart attack... while Peter is still under.
The next morning, Peter wakes up happy and laid-back -- and determined to get out of his rotten job, and live fat and happy. He conspires with Samir Nagheenanajar (Ajay Naidu) and ill-named Michael Bolton (David Herman) -- two coworkers who are about to be axed -- to skim money off the company's assets with no one the wiser. Only problem is, their scene is rapidly spinning out of control.
"Office Space" started off as an early 90s animated skit, featuring the character of Milton. You know, that increasingly deranged employee who complains that "you took my stapler." This time, Milton is a minor character, although a pivotal one. The focus is mainly on the mellowed-out Peter and his wild scheme to profit the downtrodden employees of Initech.
Judge creates a hysterical tangle of cubicle workers, layoffs and the most annoying boss in the history of film ("Yeeeeeeaaaahhhh... uhhhhhhh..."). This brand of humor is twisted, down to the slow-motion, ghetto-style beating of the copier in the middle of a field. And of course, the dialogue is quietly insane ("Oh, and next Friday... is Hawaiian shirt day...") as the plot grows grows more and more tense... until you know someone has to snap.
The trio of lead characters are a riot -- there's Peter, whose newfound perspective is immensely entertaining. There's Samir, who can barely restrain his simmering rage at his rotten job. And there's Michael, who has a seething resentment that he has the same name as THAT sappy singer. Jennifer Aniston does a pretty good job as a love interest for Peter -- a waittress who hates her job as much as he hates his.
"Office Space" has become something of a deserving cult classic -- funny, strange, and sympathetic to the ants that toil in their cubicles. Make more movies, Mike Judge -- especially if they're as good as "Office Space."
Cult Classic for Cubicle Cadre.......2006-05-29
This movie endures as a favorite in corporate (and government) circles because, unlike Dilbert, it's still funny after all these years. The characters are fresh and engaging (except for the one name, Aniston somebody), the storyline is edgy (if logically flawed in parts), and it made me laugh several times. A great rental. Not to buy. No.
It's also pretty vulgar, though I admit I don't get out much, being the father of two small children (my most important job, bucko). Do what I did--see it at home while on sick leave.
I am writing this from an office cubical........2006-05-28
Current events mixed with old tales and office lure mix to create one of the best comedies around. This film along with the red Swingline stapler had achieved cult status.
As I look around (and stand up) I can see all the personalities depicted in this movie. If anyone wanted to see a movie that mimic like real life this one is it and maybe "Joe Versus the Volcano" (1990) 0790741393. This is much more real than "9 to 5" (1980) ASIN: 6300247236.
Just a moment while I expand my cube. (*&*%$#%$&*)
There now where was I? Oh yes, Jennifer Aniston shows her flash.
It is interesting that the film was made in Austin and Dallas where I am writing this. It must be a sign on some sort.
You will see the old story of skimming percentages of a cent off of transactions with a new twist.
I have to go now the copier is calling!

Super Troopers
The fine art of handing out a freeway speeding ticket gets a deviously funny twist in this smart-alecky farce written and performed by the comedy troop Broken Lizard (consisting of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske). These pranksters in patrol cars (led by their long-suffering commander Brian Cox) are little more than overgrown frat boys in a campus rivalry with the brawling Vermont bullies of the local police force, and they know how to have fun on the highway patrol. This skit-like collection of comic moments clumps from one scene to another like a variety show, but the gags are more hit than miss, thanks largely to terrific ensemble work and inspired motorist mind games. With a nod to such 1970s comedies as Animal House and Caddyshack, this "boys in blue just wanna have fun" farce is hardly sophisticated, just clever, raucous fun. --Sean Axmaker

Hilarious.......2006-06-18
Both movies are by far two of my favorite comedies that I have and that i've watched....super troopers is the topic of discussion all the time between my friends and I as is office space....both movies are quoted religously all the time and they are well deserving of that because of the hilarity of both movies...great lines great plots great stories and the actors were hilarious...recommend to buy both movies if anyone is looking.
There are Troopers in the Office!!!.......2005-03-13
Oh my god! You couldn't possibly put two better comedies together! Well, maybe you could, but it all depends on taste. We have office Space with Super troopers, the last being my favorite of the two, for the price of $25 (give or take). You save a bit of cash, and it's absolutely perfect if you don't have either of the movies. Perfect is really the only thing that comes to mind. Well, actually there is one thing that did bug me, and that was the lack of extras on Office Space, while there are plenty on Super troopers, but this package is perfect nether the less. It makes an excellent gift so go ahead and click the buy button!

Italians In Space.......2007-04-16
Now and then you encounter a film so tiresome that the thought reviewing it is every bit as tiresome as the film itself. Such is the case with ASSIGNMENT: OUTER SPACE, also known as SPACE MEN, a 1960 Italian flick.
The story is unimpressive. A reporter (Rik Van Nutter) is assigned to cover the goings-on aboard a space station--and happens to arrive just in time for a nuclear space ship to go out of control and threaten the earth and everyone on it. So they all blast off for Mars, and then they blast off for Venus, and then they blast off for the runaway space ship. There is a romantic subplot and more uninspired cliffhangers than a Pearl White serial.
The special effects aren't, the actors are stiff, and there are numerous insults to audience intelligence along the way. The absolute best thing I can say for this movie is that I've seen worse dubbing jobs--and now and then it does have an idea that seems interesting, although in truth nothing much comes of it. Unless you are a die-hard fan of lousy 1960s sci-fi, give this one a miss.

ALPHA DVD VERSION.......2006-11-27
NOT BAD 1960 ITALIAN SPACE OPUS ABOUT ANNOYING REPORTER WHO SAVES THE EARTH. GOOD SPECIAL EFFECTS (FOR THE TIME) & AN INTERESTING CAST, ESPECIALLY ARCHIE SAVAGE AS AL WHO SACRIFICES HIS LIFE SO STAR RIK VON NUTTER (THE FIRST ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER) CAN BECOME THE HERO AND GET THE GIRL!!! THIS IS THE SPACE FILM WHERE EVERYONE WEARS THE STEVE CANYON FLIGHT HELMETS!!!
THE ALPHA DVD IS CLEAR & WATCHABLE, NOT HAMPERED WITH ANNOYING CUTS/SPLICES/JUMPS...HOWEVER, THE COLOR IS SO FADED THE FILM APPEARS TO BE SHOT IN SEPIA-TONE. THIS IS ONE FILM A COMPANY LIKE IMAGE NEEDS TO RELEASE IN WIDESCREEN...PLEASE!!!
Alpha Two does not answer.......2006-10-10
A reporter on a routine mission in the 21st century. Finds he is wrapped up in a mystery that will take him from nervous intruder to a heroic mission. On the way reporter Ray Peterson (IZ41) and botanist, co-pilot and all around cutie Lucy (Y13) find time to fall in love.
In the process George the Commander (David Montresor) learns to be human and give a few rousing speeches about how man carries his nature to space with himself. Al (X15) (Archie Savage) find an opportunity to sacrifice for man kind and be remembered "Alas poor Al"
Turns out that humanity itself is being threatened. Will this crew be able to get along and deter the threat or is destiny too strong?
The mechanics to tell the story are the use of models, old pilot helpmates and Italian 1961 concept of space fatuous. The analog interments add that space feel.
Interesting film, horrible transfer.......2006-05-18
I'm always amused by a friend who claims to have found great deals on old movies on DVD, only to be repeatedly burned by another cheap hack job by companies like Goodtimes or (in this case) Alpha Video. So it was with some trepidation I approached this one...
I was already familiar with the film, having long ago purchased a VHS copy from a slightly-more reputable company than those mentioned above. But after seeing this washed-out mess, with its numerous missing frames and audio dropouts, I might as well have used my DVD recorder to copy my VHS. The ONLY thing to recommend this disc over my tape is the inclusion of a trailer, which is in itself an oddity for Alpha. It's nice to have, but it's actually, unbelievably, in worse condition than the film.
ASSIGNMENT: OUTER SPACE itself is a pretty good little Italian space opera. As a kid watching these kinds of films on late-nite television, I always thrilled at seeing outer space scenes, spaceships, astronauts floating around, etc. And the film certainly delivers on those. And there is a real plot in there, too. Much has been said about how irritating Rik Von Nutter's reporter character is. But truthfully, these sorts of films are rarely a showcase for great acting. I found most of the characters acceptable, if unremarkable. And the reporter in space idea was probably pretty fresh in 1961.
Until a better transfer pops up, I'd recommend this disc only for sci-fi completists.
For a first try, color me impressed.......2006-05-10
This puppy before you is the very first Italian sci-fi flick, from way back in 1960. As my regular readers are aware...big shout out to both of 'em har-d-har-harr...Tom Danger has found his purpose in life. Yes, God Himself has set me about watching every oddball film made in the two decades prior to my arrival on this whirling orb of insanity. Well, maybe it was George Burns. I was pretty drunk. But He let Lenny Bruce pass the pearly gates, according to Larry Flynt, so who am I to argue? Besides, I'm not Vince McMahon. He might in fact smite me.
Anyhow, AOS concerns a reporter assigned to bring back a story from the cosmos. He disembarks into a hostile space station only to find the grandaddy of all journalistic scoops...the impending destruction of the Earth. The cosmonauts remind me of the Michelin Man in their suits. One explosion was filmed on a backlot with a car in the frame. Careless, Paisan. A few love slaps across your cheek. Otherwise, the effects are quite good for the era, and the acting surprisingly superb. The underlying message about space and technology sapping the humanity from men, turning them to machines, is needed today in our internet-based society more than ever. The cosmonauts have no names, just numbers. They don't even know what Christmas is. The print is so faded that the picture could be mistaken for black and white, but that's okay. The Tree Line 50 Sci-Fi Classics contains AOS, Mesa of Lost Women, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Teeangers from Outer Space and many more. Like the Queen of Hearts, always your best bet.
