Presented here with excellent picture and sound (but virtually no extras) are the _only_ two half-hour episodes of a series that should have continued on indefinitely. Beautifully animated and chock full of clever dialog and instantly likeable characters, this lighthearted show offers fun for the whole family. It's a crying shame it only lasts an hour.
Wishing to follow in his late father's footsteps, Hiroya Matsumoto joins the sales division of the Right Trading Company, only to discover that the `company' is really a front for a secret organization of superheroes called the Shinesman. Overseen by Kyoko Sakibara, the uniquely colorful Shinesman teammates endeavor to `beat the enemies of Earth with their bright energy.' Inspired by his little brother Yota's obsession with the popular `Greatman' television show, Matsumoto happily joins the Special Duty Combat Unit as Shinesman Red (red is Yota's favorite color--what a great kid!). Amidst a wave of magical blue light, Matsumoto dons his regulation Pro-Suit and is quickly introduced to Shinesman Moss Green (Ryoichi Hayami), Shinesman Gray (Shogo Yamadera), Shinesman Sepia (Shotaro Ono), and Shinesman Salmon Pink (Riko Hidaka). Then they're off to save G-Park from the diabolically ditzy, turquoise-haired Warrior Princess of Planet Voice, Shina, and her hideous green pet, Karamool. Will blue-eyed Matsumoto defeat this `clueless fashion victim' with his deadly Business Card Cutter attack...or will she suffocate in a Godzilla suit? Fight on, Shinesman! Gather your strength to protect justice. Go, Shinesman, go!

Shinesman, If Only There Were More.......2007-04-10

This show if funny as all get out. It is a brilliant parody of the sentai genre and the idea of corporate sponsored superheroes is such a fresh idea. Shame it was just to promo the manga, hopefully someone with look back on it, realise the gold mine at their feet and ressurect the series.

Go, Shinesman, go!.......2006-11-11

I saw "Shinesman" a few years ago as a VHS rental. It was a quirky, two-episode animated take on the idea of sentai teams, e.g. "Power Rangers." I'm glad to comment that "Shinesman" was still funny, odd, and very quotable. I have been sharing the video with friends. The only negative feedback I've heard is that it is too short, being two half-hour episodes. Personally, I would love to have seen this as an ongoing series. That's why I only gave it 4 of 5 stars.

Shinesman.......2006-08-29

Shinesman is basicly a spoof on popular Japanese superhero shows. The kind of over the top kids shows that spawned The Power Rangers and such in America. It makes fun of alot of things about that genre without being too ridiculous. It starts out with the main character joining a company which turns out to be a cover for a gang of superheros called the Shinesman. He thinks he's gotten a boring desk job but ends up being hired as their leader and new red team member. Meanwhile an alien prince and his commander are on earth disguised as business men planning to take over the world, but the prince's sister and the Shineman keeps mucking things up. Some of it is kinda funny, especially if you're familiar with the types of shows it's spoofing. However the majority of it isn't all that great and the dvd is too short and leaves you hanging. If you used to watch those type of shows as a kid or if you're feeling nostalgic for japanese superhero's with humor you might want to check it out. Otherwise it might not be your thing.

ROTFLMAO!.......2004-11-15

This DVD is a hilarious send-up of the Power-Rangers superhero genre. The plot includes the classic "Evil Forces from another world want to take over Earth", and includes the typical (mostly) incompetent royal leader, the more-competent aide, and of course the cute/naive villaness. On the good side, we have five (of course) people in combat-power suits, color-coded.

Of course, the colors the heroes have chosen are unusual, and a recurring joke throughout the episodes. There is a lot of humor for adults ("I can't die! I have a date with..."), but absolutely nothing objectionable for youngsters.

The production quality of this DVD is also sound, and the dubbing works fine. I'm frankly surprised that Cartoon Network hasn't shown this. The ONLY downside to this DVD is that its too short. Only two episodes are available; I doubt more were made by the animators (sigh...)
