With her enormous eyes, Barbie-doll figure, skimpy costumes, and masses of auburn hair, Tiara is almost a caricature of the clichéd anime heroine. The theft of the mysterious and powerful Throne of Yord sends her from the magical Guardian World to Earth to recover it, accompanied by her weasel-like partner, Japolo. Tiara sometimes battles her old friend Lena and sometimes allies with her; both women seem more interested in their friend Sara and in winning Kagetsu's affection than in the fate of entire worlds. Director Mitsuru Hongo, who also wrote the original story, shows more of a flair for choreographing midair battles than presenting a coherent story. Numerous dreams and flashbacks interrupt the flow of the narrative, and much of the plot doesn't begin to make sense until the final episodes. Even fans of the series concede that Tiara's adventures are easier to follow if the viewer begins with episodes 9 to 12, then goes back to "The Throne of Yord." Shamanic Princess embodies the visual style of the Clamp studio at its most flamboyant, with lots of full moons, figures reflected in vast eyes, blizzards of flower petals, and so much hair blowing in sinuous curves, the screen resembles an Alphonse Mucha poster gone berserk. Rated 13 and up for nudity and violence. --Charles Solomon

The King in Yellow of Anime.......2007-05-28
Seriously, this Anime is like a long, strange play that draws you in inexplicably. Taken directly, it's just a Shoujo romance anime, but the story itself is a strange dance of emotions and wonder and horror.
Most animes, I either just like for the entertainment, that I like animation, or for the lurid appeal depending on genre. This one, I wish I could have somehow had a hand in writing this, that I'd stretch it into a longer series and include so much extra in it in terms of themes and plots and subtle messages.
I do not give 5 stars easily (This is 4.5).......2007-03-16
The plot was very good and the buy (cost versus amount of anime) was among the very best (at 3 hours of film for $9.98 the cost effectiveness is better than going to a matinee at the theater). This film could probably be called a PG-13 although there may be some brief female frontal nudity (I do not remember any at all). There are some issues that may be a bit disturbing for young children.
Beautiful animation.......2007-01-10
This was a great addition to my collection. The animation is absolutely breath-taking! I really like the storyline too. It's not cliche. The downside is that the dub is not good at all, but for me that was ok because I usually watch the Japanese version anyway. Definitely worth the money.
For all CLAMP fans.......2005-09-15
When I first saw the preview on my Tokyo Babylon DVD, I thought it would be a good idea to own this one and it was. What I like about this Anime when I got it, it was pretty cool. My father got me this for Christmas. And also, Tiara's voice was done by Tara Jayne, famous for Yu-Gi-Oh! My favorite characters were Tiara, Japolo, and Kagetsu. In the first program, Tiara is on a quest to retrive the throne of Yord. And in the second, the talisman is unleashed. In the final program, the guardian world. Tiara's friends, and her 1st partner Graham, before Japolo. In closing I'll tell y'all.
Rated 13 up: nudity and violence

Shamanic Princess was pretty good. I watched all three hours in one sitting. I thought it was interesting and the art was beautiful. ^__~
