4 out of 5 stars Great series.......2004-03-27

INTRODUCTION:
Ever since the late seventies, the Gundam series has been one of the most successful and widely-loved anime series in the world. It has become a favorite of many over the years. There have been several different sub-series over the years, and one of the most popular ones of which is the Wing series, released in the mid-nineties. This is a DVD featuring episodes fromt that series. Read on for my review.

BASIC PLOT:
The Gundam Wing series follows the exploits of five young men who pilot mobile suits against the forces of an organization seeking world domination. There's Heero (the main man), Duo (the cool guy), Trowa (the quiet guy), Quatre (the peace-lover), and Wufei (the overconfident hothead.) The battle rages on for forty-nine episodes, and as the series progresses, a number of plot twists keep things interesting. This is a rare example of a series where the characters aren't paper thin - they continue to evolve as the series progresses. This is one of the best anime series out there, as one of the best mecha series.

SERIES OPINIONS:
To put it simply, this is an excellent series. Many fans of the Gundam series call this the best sub-series of all, and honestly, who can blame them? The storyline is great, the animation is great, the characters are great - everything about this series is great. It's good to see the series get a long overdue DVD release in America.

DVD:
These DVDs are good, because they contain several uncut episodes, but they're bad in that they don't contain any special features (that is, other than the very basic DVD stuff.) The series is one of the greatest anime series out there, but don't expect any bonus material.

OVERALL:
Overall this is an excellent anime series, and I recommend it to any anime or mecha fan. If you like either one, this series will not disappoint.

5 out of 5 stars Gundam Wing DVD Series 1-9.......2001-07-26

I have just finished watching Gundam Wing DVD 9 of the Gundam Wing series on DVD, and I have found it to be excellent, the only problems I have found were the timming gap in the Japanesse Language track between the movement of the carracters mouths and the audio of the voice actors reading of thier lines, the other thing was the difference between the English audio track and the subtitles was sometimes a difference of a few words or in the case of the narrator a difference in the narrations structure( the way it runs as opposed to the way it is spoken). One minor error I found was in the Jacket Picture displayed in stop mode for discs 7 & 8 in that it said disc 7 for both discs, other than this the series to this point is very good. In discs 8&9 the costumes for Miss Noin and the suits for the Gundam Pilots were very good, I think Noin looks good in the Western Syle Outfit she is wearing( Jeans, Boots and Fringe style Blouse). This is a very good series with an excellent translation done by Bandai, if you have a DVD Player than this is the way to enjoy this series as opposed to VHS, or The Cartoon Network( as they tend to water series like this down for TV). The Animation, the Mecha, the carrecters and thier development and thier interaction is very good and with Dolby sound you can't go wrong plus the extras( Bios and Mecha Info) on the DVD are excellent and well worth the price and the having.

4 out of 5 stars I Just Feel Rythym Emotion...........2001-07-19

Operation 9: Episodes 41-45: This set of shows sets up the series for it's big finale. You will see the Gundam boys reunite with each other. You will see a character thought dead still alive...and you will also see the Gundams kicking a lot of mobile suit's butts! With Zechs now in command of White Fang, and Treize assuming control of Earth's forces, the stage is set for war with the Gundams stuck in the middle and Relena trying desperately to stop her brother from waging all out war with the earth. Some high points in this disc include seeing Quatre struggling to use the Zero system, the return of the Mercurius and Vayete(with Heero's and Trowa's data imbedded in them), and the Libra fully operational.

With this disc, we see the revised opening animation set to Rythym Emotion which is welcome and on a side note, the audio for the opening track seems a lot cleaner than the older Just Communication...a treat for those with high end audio systems or Dolby Digital/Pro Logic theater set ups. A small goof on the DVD...the credits which feature over the openings of the show still list the opening theme as Just Communication even though Rythym Emotion is blaring through your speakers...I suppose that one slipped through...I know it's nit-picking, but the credits should be accurate. As we get closer to the end, these episodes are getting much better...don't miss it.
