Tenchi Forever!: The Movie

The film opens on a peaceful summer afternoon at the Masaki home in Okayama--where it's never peaceful for very long. A mysterious girl appears and begins calling Tenchi "Daddy." Predictably, she causes uproar among the women of the Masaki household. Ryoko takes an immediate dislike to her; Sasami quickly befriends her.
Mayuka was created by the demon Yuzuha, the embodiment of the Tree of Darkness. She fell in love with Yosho, Tenchi's grandfather, when he was a child on Jurai, but was driven away by his guards. After centuries of nursing her hatred, she plans to strike at Yosho through Tenchi. Ryoko and Tenchi battle Yuzuha in a weird netherworld filled with vicious but saccharine-looking toys. They finally defeat her with the help of Ayeka, who enables Tenchi to use his Jurai powers: he cleaves the demon in two with the Lighthawk sword. The second Tenchi feature is the oddest of the three, with the strongest conflicts among characters: Tenchi even loses his temper and slaps Ryoko. It's less playful than the other entries in the series, but still entertaining.
The one-hour feature comes with a Tenchi encyclopedia--different from the one included with the Tenchi Muyô! DVDs--that offers useful information about the characters, although its links are a bit temperamental.
Unrated; recommended for ages 12 and older for brief nudity and cartoon violence. --Charles Solomon

The Best Tenchi Movie I seen, well the only one but still............2006-03-29
I love this movie so much that i watched it a couple of times this past week. I felt sorry for Mayuka when that demon Yuzuha had control over a sweet girl like her. I recommend this movie to anyone exacctly or over 13 year of age.
it'll make you laugh.......2006-03-10
in this film tenchi finds out that he's a father and the news has some interesting results on the rest of the masaki household, but it is mainly ryoko who is more annoyed with tenchi's daughter mayuka. this film has some interesting moments and is a film definetly for fans of the tenchi series
Good except.......2005-09-17
Another Tenchi movie, it is wonderful. Thea animation is good and so are the voices. Well, at the same time, it is another one not based on the OVA version, (I wonder why they haven't thought of making one based on the OVA series? Why)? and the other movies act like this never happened! Buy yet it still continues to bring the feel of the TV series, and the comedy as well, and this is also gives some background to Yosho's childhood, and it would make think, he seems to be like Tenchi, before he was born and when he was young that is! Anyway, this is a wonderful work, gotta love that Mayuka, and the way she refers to her daddy.
12 and older: brief nudity and cartoon violence
A Hilarious Truth Of Life.......2005-03-27
I really did enjoy this one! Out of the three Tenchi Movies, its my second favorite. I would DEFINATELY NOT recomend this movie for children!!! It is somewhat comfuseing and has brief shots of nudity in it. Though I though the way Meyuka acted towards Tenshi was hillarious (it reminded me of the way I act to my dad, very slightly, but Meyuke seems less mature...)! It is a very sweet movie and I would recommend it for when you have a gathering of friends.
Awesome. It's been 3 years and I still love it..........2005-01-10
I watched this with my big sister about three years ago. I loved it then and still love it now. It was definitely my favorite of all the Tenchi movies.
If you haven't already read the summary... A young girl named Mayuka appears insisting on calling Tenchi, "Daddy". She appears to have no memory of anything except her daddy for some reason.
As Washu tries to decode the girls genetics, Ryoko and Ayeka, instead of directing their jealousy towards each other, they aim it towards Mayuka (physically most of the jealousy comes from Ryoko).
I would recommend this DVD for Ryoko and Tenchi fans, since the other couplings don't appear often, if at all.
Warning! There is some nudity, but very brief.
Lastly, I will conclude with saying that this is definite must-see for Tenchi fans. Tenchi must fight to save the ones he cares for as the ultimate battle between Light and Darkness occurs.

The Ongoing Curse of Jurai.......2007-08-21
Of the three movies in the world of Tenchi, this second one is my favorite. Where the first and last are rather heavy-handed and overly serious, this one is more fun. That's thanks to the introduction of the eponymous character, Mayuka, who just MAY be somehow related to our hero. She seems the most innocently charming of all the various odd women who have mysteriously appeared at the various incarnations of the Masaki Shrine throughout this series. ( With the possible exception of Sayuka in Tenchi in Tokyo; but then, she was just a figment of everyone's imagination! )
The antagonist in this story is a rather confused ( and confusing ) creature from Yosho's past called Yuzuha, a Demon whose design seems to suggest a short, green, malign, and female InuYasha. Unlike Kain from the first movie, she has a grieveance against Yosho in particular, stemming from an incident in their past on Jurai when they were children. In fact, Yuzuha lives in a state of suspended childhood, surrounded with toys and video monitors. Her poorly realized dream-like surroundings, along with rather cloudy motovation are probably the weakest aspects of this production.
Things soon liven up, however, when she inserts Mayuka into Tenchi's life as an unknown young girl who calls him "Daddy". The fun ensues as Ryoko and Ayeka are predictably enraged to discover yet another rival for Tenchi's affections. The animation and reaction between Ryoko and Mayuka are particularly funny. Being positively a fan of watching Anime in the original Japanese, I enjoyed the work of one of my favorite actresses, Junko Iwao ( best known for Tomoyo in Cardcaptor Sakura ), as Mayuka. As usual with the Japanese, all the other characters are voiced by their usual performers, Ai Orikasa being effective as ever as Ryoko. The characterizations are well-realized: at one point when being accused/questioned, poor Mayuka, though not dumb, childishly sucks her thumb in response!
Once Yuzuha's plot is exposed by the "legendary mad scientist", Professor Washu, things shift gears a bit. The resolution involves a rather violent and bloody battle involving several of the principals in Yuzua's twisted world. In fact, the sub-plot involving possible incestuous behavior, along with the intense fighting makes this a tale best suited to a more mature audience, at least in the teen years. The finale is somewhat sad and touching, destructive of both Yuzuha and Mayuka. You must carefully watch the art accompanying the credits for a happy resolution to this tale!
