Ten-year-old Sakura's adventures continue as she pursues the magic Clow Cards and the spirits they control: Jump, a violent pink creature who resembles a mutant Pokémon, bedevils a woman who sells plush toys--until Sakura brings him to heel. Episode 9 stands out as an example of sensitive storytelling. Everyone perceives the eerie specter in the woods near their school differently; Sakura sees the ghost of her mother, who died seven years ago. Recalling Yuki's advice that her mother would never put her in danger, Sakura penetrates the ruse and captures Illusion, who shows people what they desire to see. Sakura's older brother is dumbfounded when he realizes their mother's spirit actually has been watching over her. But Sakura isn't the only one pursuing the enchanted Cards. Shaoran Li, the brash new student from Hong Kong, is a distant relative of the sorcerer who created the Cards: he arrogantly insists he's the only one qualified to deal with them. Despite his protests, Sakura demonstrates her skill by capturing the powerful Lightning. Kerberos presents details about Sakura's clothes and home between episodes. Cardcaptor Sakura offers warm but never saccharine entertainment. (In Japanese with English subtitles.) Rated 13 and up, but appropriate for children three to four years younger. An edited version of these same episodes is available, entitled Cardcaptors: Power Match that's suitable for the 6-year-old crowd. --Charles Solomon

5 out of 5 stars As the #1 fan, THIS IS AWESOME........2006-01-13

I swear on how much i love EVERYTHING about Cardcaptors this is an awesome DVD. GET THIS DVD!!!!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent - you won't be dissapointed.......2005-12-11

I'm sure many people would assume that this series wouldn't be that great because it's the American version, but it suprisingly is great. The voices are excellent - no 20 year old woman playing Sakura who's supposed to be a CHILD or any of that. Now... I've looked at some of the other posts. The names may seem a little "unoriginal" and such, but they don't affect anything about this great series. Also, you cannot compare Inuyasha with this series. Inuyasha is very overrated and dragged out. Clamp has done an excellent job on the manga, and Pioneer has done a great job with the anime. Plus, anyone can enjoy it - whether you're a boy or girl. Don't let Sakura's frilly outfits fool you.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-11-27

I do have to say this movie is GREAT!!!
I think my favorite show on it is the Fight card. But I do LOVE Sword card too. I like on how the fight card one is when Li's girlfriend comes.
It's a GREAT movie
Do by it!

Show:
If you try to avoid ' card ' themed shows, you might as well
avoid Cardcaptors, too. If you've never seen Inuyasha, try
this. It's not for viewers who've seen Inuyasha. This movie is
like Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon.

Characters:
Sakura isn't a very original name. Many anime girls are named
Sakura, so it's not original. However, Kagome was first used
as an anime character's name in Inuyasha. Meilin is
a great name. Li is even more un-original than Sakura.
It's been used a thousand times, and I'm getting tired of it.

Plot:
Like all trading card themed shows, the main character tries
to capture these cards. In Cardcaptors they are called thee clow
cards.

Price:
I bought this movie from Price Chopper for $8.00. It only
provided 3 short episodes with no exciting plot. In fact, it
was so boring I haven't watched it more than three times.

Value:
This is not a very good movie for all that money. Now I don't
have any more money and I cannot return Cardcaptors.

Reccommended:
If you want real, serious, cool, and interesting anime,
watch Inuyasha. If you're, like, 6, and you like Yu-Gi-Oh,
I guess you'd like Cardcaptors.
