How can Amazon be selling a PAL-formatted DVD in an NTSC-territory that is North America? I send the DVD back, Amazon does not refund me the postage for the return. And to add insult to injury, Amazon sends a replacement---also in PAL format!!!

While not ideal, this DVD is a solid compilation of kumite techniques that will help you in preparing for competition.

Video quality is very good. This is not one of those ridiculous VHS to DVD transferred tapes. My only gripe is that the DVD technology was not used to its full potential. The menu system could have included the direct links to each technique. Instead you'll have to do a lot of rewinding/fast forwarding in order to find the one you're looking for.

The content, however, is excellent. There are hand, leg techniques, sweeps and takedowns. Each is demonstrated in dojo at slow and full speed, then shown applied in competition.

I have already tried a few of the techniques in sparring, and they work nicely. I have no problem recommending this DVD to all karate practitioners out there. 4/5 stars.
