Old Eight Palms of Bagua Zhang

Description

Old Eight Palms (Basic Eight Palms) was originated by Dong Haichuang of Qing Dynasty and imparted by mater Li Ziming. As the fundamental of Bagua Zhang, it is practiced along a circle consisted with eight steps which stand for the eight diagrams set by ancestor Fu and Xi. They are Qian, Kun, Ji, Li, Zhen, Kan, Xun and Dui. When the Old Eight Palms performed by Wu Shijun, its movements are of primitive style, the elegance of floating cloud and flowing water and the coordination of the body, hands and feet.

There is better available than this!.......2007-06-16

First off let me say that I am a very experienced martial artist. I have trained close to 40 years; 20 of them in Southern Shaolin and the last 20 in xing yi and Baguazhang. I ordered this DVD with the hopes of finding some refreshing insights from a fellow BGZ instructor, competitor and player.

I was sadly mistaken. While the initial nice meditation exercises might be beneficial from a health and well being standpoint, the applications of the 8 mother palms Jean-Jacques Galinier leave a lot lacking in terms of applicability, reality and validity.

I do not recommend this DVD for martial arts practitioners. There are definitely better resources available.
