Everybody important from the first film, including the writing-directing team of Charles Shyer and Nancy Meyers, regroups for this sequel involving a pair of pregnancies. Steve Martin's patriarch has a crisis when his married daughter (Kimberly Williams) is with child, and an even bigger one when his middle-aged wife (Diane Keaton) announces that another bambino is on the way. Martin Short is more effectively used this time around (he played the wedding coordinator in the first film), and while this movie's inevitable climax has both women giving birth on the same chaotic night, the overall effect of the film is less contrived than its predecessor. --Tom Keogh
Description
Expect crowd-pleasing entertainment when Steve Martin (PARENTHOOD), Diane Keaton (LOOK WHO'S TALKING NOW), and Martin Short (CAPTAIN RON) return in this hilarious sequel to the comedy smash FATHER OF THE BRIDE. Having just married off his cherished daughter (Kimberly Williams -- FATHER OF THE BRIDE), George Banks (Martin) is ready to get footloose and fancy free! So when his daughter and his wife Nina (Keaton) both announce they are pregnant, George finds himself in one outrageous situation after another, desperately trying to recapture the wild and crazy days of his youth! You'll love every star-filled minute of FATHER OF THE BRIDE, PART II -- the riotous comedy hit that delivers double the fun and twice the laughs!

Great.......2007-06-10
This is one of the best sequels I have ever seen. It is funny and at the same time very sweet and touching. Steve Martin is great as the unwilling soon-to-be-father/grandfather. The rest of the cast is as good as they were in the first part. Definitely worth a watch by all daughters who have a very loving and protective father!
Is Great!.......2007-04-10
I really like the 2 won better but the other one you need to see first!
The first one is much better..........2006-10-12
I was very disappointed in this movie. As much as I love Steve Martin, this movie just didn't do anything for me. I had to make myself watch it in its entirety. It was too unrealistic; a mother and daughter being pregnant at the same time, giving birth on the same exact day, in the same hospital across the hall from one another. Give me a break. And what are the chances of you buying your house back one day after you sell it by just one stoke of a pen by simply reaching into your pocket and whipping out a $100,000 check? Yeah, I see that happen all the time. And gee whiz, Annie's husband walks into the hospital after a business trip in Tokyo just in the nick of time, how convenient. And is it too much to ask to have just one movie where the pregnant woman gets a normal ride to the hospital? The wild ride to the hospital scene is played (Look Who's Talking?, Nine Months). And just what kind of job did the father of the bride have? A baby suite? How fortunate we all would be if we could toss thousands of dollars on a single room in a house that's only going to be used for a couple of months. Now that's what I call living! And Franck, not only does he coordinate weddings but he throws in baby showers here and there as well. Oh, and he also designs baby suites. Maybe he does barmitzvahs too. This movie would have been a lot better if it only focused on Annie being pregnant. The Banks having 3 children spread out across 3 different generations was a bit much. "Is that your grandbaby?" "No, that's my daughter." "Hey, is that your sister?" "No, that's my aunt." "Hey, it was nice meeting your brother." "Are you kidding me, that's my nephew!" There were no funny moments in this movie and seeing Steve Martin as a brunette, even if it was only briefly, was just painful. His hair has been gray ever since I can remember and he should keep it that way at all times. Do yourself a favor and pass on this movie. The first one is much better. If I could have given it a zero star I would have. Sorry Steve, I still love you but the next time I want to see you in a good movie, I'll just pull out "The Jerk","Parenthood" or "Housesitter". As a matter of fact, I'm planning to take this movie to the Thrift store the next time I donate.
Narrow View of Normal.......2006-09-18
What's wrong with raising a baby in a beach house? Am I the only person who doesn't live in a mansion? Do you have to be rich to be happy?
This movie, and the original remake (since that's what these films are) tell a lot of lies about what people should expect life to be. Therefore, they are not fun. All the humor evaporates when you realize it is attempting to tell you "your life should be this way" or you're wrong if it is not. Unfortunately, not everyone has a picture perfect life.
Didn't Think It Could Get Any Better!.......2006-09-13
I remember watching "Father of the Bride" over and over again growing up...dreaming of my own wedding! It was just one of those movies that you can never really get tired of. I was excited when they made "Father of the Bride 2" , but I really didn't have high hopes for it because I thought there was no way it could compete with the first...boy was I wrong. This movie is just as great as the first. With mother and daughter having a baby at the same time and all the same great characters back from the first movie...there was never a dull moment! If you liked the first you should love this movie!

Quite possibly the nadir of Steven Spielberg's career as a producer, this piece of sentimental junk from 1987 concerns five little spacecraft which arrive on Earth just in time to help out some New Yorkers getting kicked out of a tenement. The script's goo just sticks to the viewer, and the cast looks silly by trying not to be silly. You get the feeling that Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment was pretty much throwing stuff at the wall to see what would hang there, and they came up with this ridiculous thing. --Tom Keogh

An rarely heard of classic.......2007-09-14
The official review by Amazon misses the point of this fun movie. True, if you are expecting the greatest movie of all time then this might fall a little short but honestly, it's just a fun movie. The story is simple but charming, the nolstalgia factor of the 80's wonderful and the special effects are great for it's time. And it really has some heart to it. Overall it's great to see this again after so many years and most people I know think it's a lot of fun, with a healthy dose of cheese! ;)
I love this movie~.......2007-03-19
I had it on VHS for years and am still converting to DVD. I had to have this long time favorite. Jessica Tandy was such an awesome actress.
For All Ages.......2006-11-04
This delightful film has it all: terrific acting, charming fantasy, low key action and appropriately targeted villain (greedy developer).
Great Blend of the old and the New.......2006-11-03
There are so many reasons this is a good film. The biggest is that it has a main plot that even little children can understand and therefore watch it over and over again.
The other reason you should watch this film is for all of the little subplots. Let's see, there's a single mother, corporate greed, a washed up artist, an over-the-hill boxer, an older couple one of whom is a little confused, and best of all, there's little UFO's!
I'm sure you'll recognize at least a few of the actors who are very accomplished and pull this story off in a very believable way.
And, whether believable or not, there actually is a happy ending, but I won't spoil it for you.
A Wonderful Universe.......2006-10-15
This is a wonderful story showing the Universe can have Aliens that are not horrors monsters or disasters for humans and humanity. Kids or Adults can see a picture of Aliens, not the usual us in a strange colored costume but folks we cannot see or even recognize as folks. Strangers with a problem seek help and after receiving help, return the favor.
Aliens that flash thru the night abducting people, and destroying property are enemies.
Aliens that come in the night, make contact with local people, seeking understanding and trade, are far more likely representatives of extra solar beings.

Step Up happily joins the long line of movies intoxicated by sexy bodies in motion. When an overachieving dancer (Jenna Dewan, Take the Lead) at an East Coast art school loses her partner just before a big showcase, her only possible replacement is a young tough (Channing Tatum, She's the Man) doing community service as a janitor. From there, Step Up slams together a folio of cliches, from prissy-rich-girl-gets-loosened-up-by-poor-boy to hoodlum-learns-the-error-of-his-ways-through-personal-tragedy to artist-discovers-his-voice. It's set in one of those performing arts schools where the students burst into spontaneous synchronized dance at parties. But Step Up, directed by choreographer Anne Fletcher, has a relaxed kinetic momentum and enough texture to give the nonsense just a hint of realistic grit. More than anything, Step Up shows off hunky Channing Tatum. With his sleepy eyes, broad jaw, and sloping neck, Tatum looks like an Easter Island statue come to life. His acting range may be limited, but Tatum has a definite lazy charisma; even when dancing full tilt, he looks like he just woke up and is still dreaming of the night before. Step Up also features Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under) as the requisite tough-but-loving-authority-figure. --Bret Fetzer
Description
Incredible dancing and awesome music fuel STEP UP, the exhilarating and inspiring movie starring Channing Tatum (SHE'S THE MAN, COACH CARTER) who sizzles as Tyler Gage, a rough and streetwise hunk with raw talent. When Tyler finds himself doing community service at a school for the performing arts, he also finds Nora, a beautiful and privileged classically trained dancer who's searching for a temporary replacement for her injured dance partner. Spying Tyler's smooth moves, Nora decides to take a chance on him. But as they begin training, tension builds, tempers flare and the differences in their backgrounds explode igniting this electrifying tale about not giving up on your dreams.

lbuggie's review.......2007-05-29
I saw this movie just this past week-end and I must say, I really liked it! My favorite part was when Tyler and Nora first danced together in the spot their friend Lucy sang at with her boyfriend, the jerk. Same ol' plot, but different in it's own unique way.
Step Up.......2007-05-28
I am an admitted dance-film addict. Moreover, I am fixated with Channing Tatum, mostly because he is exceedingly hot (that is a scientific term). Obviously I enjoyed the movie, although I prefer the preppy Channing of "She's the Man". Still, the film was fun and entertaining and while no one is going to win any academy awards it is an enjoyable feel-good movie all the same. If you like dancing movies, you will enjoy this one.
Fun and hip.......2007-04-14
Channing Tatum as Tyler Gage gives a great performance in this fun movie. The basic idea is a bit contrived, but it works: a no-gooder teenager with a knack for rap is reluctantly coopted by a beautiful dancer in need of a partner. He will of course help her jazz up her act, she will make him a better man, and they will fall in love. Aside from annoying zigzags in Tyler's commitment (one slip is OK, but three?!), the script pulls us in. It is helped by a lot of dancing, not always great but always energetic. Rachel Griffiths is excellent in the minor role of the principal of the art school.

Description
Pushing his themes of sexual liberation to their boiling point, Yugoslavian art-house provocateur Dusan Makavejev followed his international sensation WR: Mysteries of the Organism with this full-throated shriek in the face of bourgeois complacency and movie watching. Sweet Movie tackles the limits of personal and political freedom with kaleidoscopic feverishness, shuttling viewers from a gynecological beauty pageant to a grotesque food orgy with scatological, taboo-shattering glee. With its lewd abandon and sketch-comedy perversity, Sweet Movie became both a cult staple and an exemplar of the envelope pushing of 1970s cinema.

Grotesque And Beautiful.......2007-09-10
There is nothing I can say about this film that it can't say for itself. Some moments are disturbing (the lady basically exposing herself and deflowering young boys in a boat full of candy, which I still am astonished how illegal it should have been), some moments are depressing (our heroine weeping with a penis against her face as the hoard of people around her are behaving like scat-a-holic animals), some moments are comical (having gotten 'stuck together like dogs' after copulating on the Eiffel Tower, the couple have to be brought to some sort of kitchen to be seperated), and some moments are just plain weird (she's stuffed into a suitcase, for real, and sent to paris). Actually the whole movie was weird, and at many times, cryptic. I'm still unsure of the true 'point' if there even was one. But I know it has something to do with tyranny, communism, self indulgence, and the perversion of mankind. (?) Either way, it's an AWESOME movie, visually beautiful, grimly erotic, emotionally disturbing, and most importantly, ARTISTIC AS HELL. I'll be watching it again and again till I figure out what it's really about.
Senior Pasolini, I think I am ready for your movie now.......2007-08-29
*** This comment may contain spoilers ***
What is it - a satire on social and sexual politics, government sponsored genocide, democracy for Eastern Europe and the stereotypes of the times? Or non-connected collection of shocking images that include "virgin beauty contest" the winner of which would marry a billionaire, Mr. Kapital (John Vernon) with golden penis; an intercourse in Eiffel Tour that ends up with a spasm; a dinner party with the members of Viennese commune Friedrichshof, a revolutionary/ siren /vampire, Anna Planeta who sails a riverboat with a huge Karl Marx head on its bow on the canals of Amsterdam and lures men and young boys aboard with her seductive songs for sex, candies, and death? "Sweet Movie" is all that and it shocks you even more, and I think it is a good and deep movie. It is extremely disturbing and it really tests its viewers on how much and for how long they would endure watching some of very disgusting stuff but everything what happens on screen does make sense and does prove the writer/ director's many points. Actually, first hour or so is a wild and funny surreal black comedy/satire of which my most beloved filmmaker Don Luis Bunuel would be proud.
The two scenes closer to the end really push all possible envelopes. After I found out that the participants in the "commune" scene were actually the real members of Friedrichshof, the Viennese commune that had been founded and run by artist/filmmaker/painter Otto Meuhl, and everything we see is pretty much real, I was shocked even more. Dusan Makavejev explains in the interview on the Criterion disc who the people are and why they engage in the shocking activities. From what I understood, the acts of people urinating on each other, indulging in emetophilia, coprophilia, were the part of Wiener Aktionismus or Viennese Actionism, the Art movement which is remembered for the willful transgressiveness of its naked bodies, destructiveness and violence. Makavejev added that what those people were doing to themselves and one another was also a part of the group therapy. Whatever it was, I had to fast-forward some of the scene.
The most disturbing and important scene in the movie (and it is often overlooked by the viewers and critics) is a real footage of the 1943 discovery of mass graves at Katyn Forest by Germany, after its armed forces had occupied the big European part of the former USSR in 1941.
From Wikipedia: "The term "Katyn massacre" originally referred to the massacre, at Katyn Forest near villages of Katyn and Gnezdovo (about 12 miles (19 km) west of Smolensk, Russia), of Polish military officers confined at the Kozelsk prisoner-of-war camp in 1940. Estimates of the number of executed persons ranges from 15,000 to 21,768."
The Soviet Union continued to deny responsibility for the massacres until 1990, when Mikhail Gorbachev in his attempt to openness, acknowledged that the NKVD (People Committee of Internal Affairs, later known as KGB - Committee of State Security) secret police had in fact committed the massacres and the subsequent cover-up. The Russian government has admitted Soviet responsibility for the massacres, although it does not classify them as war crimes or as acts of genocide. Including the footage of the war crimes of such scale that were completely unknown to the West during the high point of the Cold War, and trying to get attention to those crimes and acknowledge their victims, was a courageous act from Makavejev. As he said in the end of his interview - as long as we remember the ones who died, they are not dead.
Reading the reviews and comments about "Sweet Movie", I realized that some posters were puzzled and somehow confused with the "revolutionary" part of the story that involves Anna Planeta and her killing boat. Since I also "came in from the Cold", like Dusan Makavejev did, his many references to the history of Eastern Europe of the last century, including two World Wars, and Revolutions, make a lot of sense to me. For those who want to learn more, I highly recommend watching featurette with the film scholar Dina Lordanova. This 20 minutes long documentary may help you to understand better what is behind all the shocking imagery and what Makavejev wanted to say. I already mentioned interview from 2006 with the director/writer which is very interesting. The last featurette presents Anna Prucnal who talks about the impact "Sweet Movie" made in her life and she sings the song "The Urchins Down In the Meadow" in Italian (it is performed in Greek in the movie during the Katyn Forest scene). Pier Paolo Pasolini wrote the Italian lyrics for the song.
Senior Pasolini, I think I am ready for your movie now.
Not what it seems.......2007-08-14
This movie is not as great or as shocking as billed. Apart from that, the movie really suffers from being poorly edited. It is hard to follow what's going on.
A sweet transfixion.......2007-08-06
This is the ultimate "art" film. It will intentionally toy with your emotions while rattling every corner of your inner senses and perceptions. I've never seen a movie so quick to change gears, it will hit you with the most bizarre erotic sequence or humorous moment and then BAMMM! blind side you with some completely devastating images.
As it drags you through the quagmire, it flashes lots of obvious statements about Soviet Communism and capitalism and probably lots of other stuff that went over my head. That's the beauty of great art films, you can understand and pull new things from them with each viewing.
This obviously won't appeal to many, there are some shocking and confusing moments that will likely leave you bewildered. This film is quite an experience.
wow, that really sucked........2007-07-26
first, a little about me. i love things that are weird, original, creative, sexually explicit, subversive, and substantive.
i was led to believe (from other amazon reviews) that Sweet Movie was worth seeing, if not owning. well, i bought it and was completely bored and unsatisfied. sure, there were a couple neat subtleties in that hour and a half, but mostly it was vague, nonsensical twaddle (with annoying singing)!
why this is a Criterion Collection film, i have no idea. i own a number of Criterion movies and really enjoy them, but this is extremely crappy.

Kate Hudson wrestles with unlikely motherhood in Raising Helen, a comedy directed with the smooth professionalism of Garry Marshall, the man who brought us such cinematic fairy tales as Pretty Woman and The Princess Diaries. Helen (Hudson, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days) is an adorable hipster whose swift rise up the fashion industry ladder gets sideswiped when she finds herself responsible for raising three children, left in her care by the untimely death of one of her sisters. It's a standard frivolous-girl-grows-up story with an uneven script, but solidly performed by Hudson, John Corbett (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), ever-sexy Helen Mirren (Calendar Girls), and especially Joan Cusack (In and Out, Addams Family Values), who takes an obnoxious, uptight suburban mom and makes her the movie's emotional core. It's a miracle of acting alchemy; Cusack is one of contemporary comedy's most crucial performers. --Bret Fetzer

Save your Money... I'll sell you mine cheap ;-).......2007-09-08
It was hard to watch this movie without critiquing Kate Hudson. She was too cutesy to pull it off. It got annoying after awhile. About the only value she added was occasional big smiles that reminded us of her famous Mom. My husband and I usually love John Corbett but we felt he could've contributed more to this film than he did. The chemistry wasn't present between the two main characters and Kate's "I'm so cute" persona just made us squirm. The children were much better... and we believe the real star power of this movie was Joan Cusack. Go Joan! The sad part is it could've been a really good movie, with some more thoughtful casting, directing and story flow. Lots of holes. Kate wasn't believable as a savvy administrative assistant. But Helen Mirren as the model agency owner was fun... except her character lost credibility for tolerating all the sloppiness of Kate's character. I'm giving it two stars because we didn't fall asleep while watching it.
Huffman. Hudson........2007-06-30
Doe I sound like Letterman??? ANyway Huffman shines as Lindsay and for attractiveness there is kate, ala Goldie's child!! Watch this and be entertained!!
It's sad kind of but if Huffman, who is the better actress, weren't so frumpy she would have had Husdon's role. Oh well...

"Guess we're all getting A's.".......2007-02-21
Raising Helen starring the always adorable and talented Kate Hudson is a wonderful comedy/drama. Directed by Garry Marshall, this heartfelt tale of a busy career-woman who unexpectedly has to take on the responsiblity of raising her recently deceased sister's three cute children. This movie is somewhat similiar to Baby Boom but Raising Helen is different in many ways. Some touching moments from Hudson and Joan Cusack. At times, this movie can seem a bit wishy-washy but by the first 15 minutes, you become totally sucked into the storyline. Raising Helen is a true winner.

Doris Day was nearing her popular zenith, and Jack Lemmon just hitting his stride, when they teamed up for It Happened to Jane, a small-town comedy in the Capra vein. Doris is a widowed mom whose Maine lobster business is snarled by railroad tycoon Ernie Kovacs (hiding behind a skullcap and a huge cigar), the "meanest man in America." Her lawsuit against him, aided by lawyer-suitor Lemmon, gains national headlines. This is a curious movie: crucial scenes seem to have been left unwritten, while sequences involving Cub Scouts and an oddly impassioned Town Hall Meeting go on endlessly. Director Richard Quine was making some fun movies around this time (Bell, Book, and Candle), but the fizz is only intermittent here, mostly provided by Lemmon's jack-in-the-box youthfulness. Doris sings a couple of tunes and brings her downhome tomboy routine to New York City, where the movie employs some of the quaint TV personalities of the day. --Robert Horton

Good movie. Fun to watch. The stars are good and the movie is another classic. Good old time family fare.

Happy Classic American Love Comedy. .......2007-07-15
In a sense this movie is exciting.
Doris is stout, but plays a pretty woman.
Jack Lemmon responds with her well.
The last is over in happy ending while feeling nervous on the way, and a story is happy for me.
Quirky and fun.......2007-04-06
Classic Doris Day romantic comedy. Three cheers for the "little guy" standing up and winning against the "big corporation".
It Happened to Jane.......2007-03-08
I was required to see a movie and I choose this one because of the clean language, humor and overall pleasure in whatching a Doris Day movie.

FOR THE 90's BEACH VOLLEYBALL FAN.......2006-08-28
A MUST HAVE MOVIE FOR THE 90's BEACH VOLLEYBALL FAN. AN ENTERTAINING FAMILY FUTURE STARTING WITH MOST OF THE REAL BEACH VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS CAMEOS, INCLUDING THE KING OF THE BEACH DUO FOR THOSE TIMES, RANDY STOCKLOS AND SINJIN SMITH, AS THE UNBEATABLE RIVAL TEAM.
NICE, IF UNREMARKABLE.......2006-07-15
"Side Out" is a breezy, if unremarkable film. If you love beach volleyball, you'll love this film. The "Rocky" of the sport.
Happy crap...........2004-07-26
This is a pretty bad movie, but if you are in the mood for that, watch Side Out. If you have a hangover on a Sunday afternoon, this movie may fit the bill. The dialogue will make you squirm, and then crack up. The movie isn't mean-spirited, just painfully cheesy. Nothing happens in the flick that you wouldn't expect. The best part of the movie is the dialogue. It's priceless!
An Absolutely Brilliant Piece of Filmmaking.......2004-05-18
Side Out is just an incredible film. From the moment Monroe Clark steps off the plane from Milwaukee and onto the hot sandy beach volleyball scene, the action just never stops. When Zack Barnes speaks you listen. Peter Horton's finest hour. C. Thomas Howell's career had nowhere to go but, downhill from here. How he got sunbbed by the Academny, I will never know. This is just a true classic and must have for any respectable movie collector.
Laughable, yet, enticing.......2004-04-27
OK, for so many different reasons I could easily pan this. The volleyball action by a certain duo, namely horton / howell, really stinks! The acting is out and out crap, Stoklos and Smiths final film for a reason.
HOWEVER, I love this movie, if for no other reason that you get to see some of the classic players; Timmons, Stoklos, Smith, Mootheart, and of course OB. It is a fun romp through a sillier time, when anyone without a sponsorship deal could dream. Just don't expect too much.

Anyone skeptical of updated retreads of Christmas movie classics may be genuinely surprised by this 1994 version of Miracle on 34th Street. Based on the 1947 holiday classic, this new Miracle sticks close to the original's story, though it offers more contemporary, crisper pacing and a tone curiously more reflective--even sorrowful--than before. Richard Attenborough is charming and twinkly as Kris Kringle, the part that won Edmund Gwenn an Oscar. Mara Wilson is the little New York City girl who doesn't believe in Santa Claus until Kris persuades her otherwise. Elizabeth Perkins is her hardened mother, and Dylan McDermott plays the handsome lawyer next door who defends Kris during an insanity hearing. While screenwriter John Hughes has toughened up the dialogue a bit, and McDermott's intensity looks like a dry run for his then- future role on television's The Practice, this Miracle is as persuasively sweet as the one previous. --Tom Keogh
Description
Six year old Susan has doubts about childhood's most enduring miracle Santa Claus. Her mother told her the "secret" about Santa a long time ago, so Susan doesn't expect to receive the most important gifts on her Christmas list. But after meeting a special department store Santa who's convinced he's the real thing, Susan is given the most precious gift of all something to believe in.
Customer Reviews:
some ways better than the original.......2007-08-21
My husband and I own both this version and the original and every year we watch both and every year we cannot decide which one we like best.
We prefer some aspects of the story in this version- like the courtroom scene and the final scenes. However, we prefer some of the original actors and certainly the original Santa.
Overall, a great movie and a must see.
Miracle on 34th Street.......2007-01-29
I love this movie. The DVD arrived quickly, I am very pleased.
Some Classics Are Best ..........2006-12-05
The 1994 version of Miracle on 34th Street does not bear comparisons or accolades to the original 1947 classic. The film had already been remade prior to this version, and one asks, why? And also, why change a bit of the storyline? John Hughes should be praised for his attempt at producing a holiday film, but it may be an attempt to compete with other films that came out in the early to mid 1990s, the Home Alone movies, Jingle All The Way, and the Santa Clause.
The unique trait about this version is its comic book-like quality. The film is fiction, and is based on Valentine Davies' book of the same name. Indeed, Kris Kringle (Richard Attenborough) saves the day by substituting as Santa Claus for Cole's Thanksgiving Parade. However, there is a villainous quality to the film with the appearance of the antagonist character of the film, rival retail store president of Express Superstore, Shellhammer (Simon Jones III), who wants to engage in a Cole's department store takeover. Unfortunately, this is the unnecessary part of the film. For a moment, one may think this may be a period film, which takes place about the same time as the original -- the costumes of the characters, and the all too familiar New York City scenes.
However, that is not the case. This is a present day version, which emphasizes quite loudly the meaning of Christmas; look closely at the concluding courtroom scene. The main premise of the storyline is intact, but with minor changes. Yes, the store name has changed from Macy's to Cole's, Fred Gaily (John Payne) has changed to Bryan Bedford (Dylan McDermott), and the courtroom scene where Judge Harper (Robert Prosky) determines if Kris Kringle is exactly Santa Claus has slightly changed as well. And there are also the concluding scenes, which are questionable.
Miracle of 34th Street attempts to engage the viewer. The cinematography emphasizes much illumination, and the photography literally shows the characters, Susan (Mara Wilson) and Dorey Walker (Elizabeth Perkins), glowing like angels with the sun shining over them in order to depict a dream-like quality to the feminine characters.
For many who enjoy the original 1947 version of Miracle on 34th street, it is best to avoid this version unless you happen to see it on TV. It is deserving of three stars because of its holiday theme.
Grandma Carol.......2006-08-01
I don't usually like "remake" of the old clasic movies but this one is priceless. Don't discount the original one though. I have them both and love them!!
Excellent.......2006-07-02
Well.. I saw this one, before the "original". :) so.. for me, I liked this one better :) Elizabeth Perkins is beautiful and unlike the original movie character, she has a bit more softness to her, which I found beautiful.
The little girl who played her daughter was wonderful too. Actually the whole cast was :)
Definitely worth the money, and don't forget the original. I liked that one, but I loved this one ♥.
