4 out of 5 stars a few steps away from greatness.......2007-09-10

This film teams Fu Sheng and Ti Lung with both playing somewhat not so good guy roles the character to watch is the villian who fights with a halbred. The fight between him and Ti Lung early inthis film on a darken street is a classic, Fu Sheng does'nt really do much heavy duty fighting in this film but adds comedy to help the story along. I only gave this film 4 stars because the plot was the build up to this character and Ti Lungs second comfortation with not much action in between all the way to the end. Well worth adding to any serious martial art film collection.

1 out of 5 stars Total garbage.......2007-07-18

Man, this DVD is piece of garbage.
Cuts are sloppy and slow.
Who did this guy learn from anyway??

1 out of 5 stars fat, slow and inaccurate. Musashi must be rolling over in his grave........2007-06-18

I am sorry to say that I actually own this. I believe that if one is to demonstrate the techniques of Musashi one must honor him by doing the movements without supplemental Oxygen. A true practitioner understands that if one is out of shape then one cannot continue the battle. Alexander breathes heavily through the entire DVD that some of it is hard to understand. His cuts are slow and awkward like a novice, a total fish out of water. Anyone that thinks that his cuts are impressive are clueless. Cutting sticks does not show ones ablity to cut, a cheap alternative to Goza or Tatami are water bottles. If one is able to pass a blade through a water bottle without disturbing it understands the principles of cutting. Do myspace search for jaime_avalos@hotmail.com to watch a real cut! How can you sleep at night knowing that you put out such garbage? Musashi must be rolling over in his grave!!!!

1 out of 5 stars The Sad Truth.......2007-02-16

It should be noted by any who would be willing to buy a DVD like this that George Alexander has no affiliation with Heiho Niten Ichi Ryu (the the fighting style of Miyamoto Musashi). I honestly cannot challenge the effectiveness of anything Alexander attempts to teach the viewer of this DVD, but I can challenge it's authenticity in regards to being the fighting style of Miyamoto Musashi.

5 out of 5 stars Impressive!!!!.......2007-02-08

I highly recommend this dvd!! It is very impressive!! I have really learned alot!!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!.......2004-09-30

Musashi is one of the legondary heros of the samurai. It is remarkable that his style is still in existance. I had no idea that this sword style is still being taught. It is awe inspriring to be able see and learn Musashi's original sword system that dates back 400 years. This DVD clearly shows Musashi's two sword style and its effectiveness. It is a high quality production and a real treasure for anyone intertested in Japanese swordsmanship.

1 out of 5 stars How to Save $100.......2007-02-16

If you're looking for a DVD on Miyamoto Musashi's fighting style, Heiho Niten Ichi Ryu as of this posting you shall not find one. In these DVDs, Alexander is selling you something that he created and has no connection with Musashi's style. I'm well aware that if you look around online you'll find other alledged Musashi DVDs, but trust me when I tell you there are none. The closest you'll get to knowing about the Ryu is through Musashi's Book of Five Rings, after that Japan is probably your next best bet, well unless you can find one of the students of the style. Anyways, if you haven't caught drift of what I'm saying by now, I'll make it simple..."DO NOT PURCHASE THIS DVD." - Thank you.

    1 out of 5 stars Samurai Swordsmanship?.......2007-02-16

If you're honestly interested in "Samurai Swordsmanship" as the previous reviewer stated, this DVD is not for you. To be honest, you'll actually learn more authentic "Samurai Swordsmanship" if you went to YouTube and searched for "kenjutsu". I'm starting to feel like a broken record, but as I feel I've stated many times before, George Alexander knows nothing of Miyamoto Musashi's style. The style on this DVD is a style of his own creation. Now, if you'd like you can go spend that $40 on something you won't be cursing yourself about later. =)

Hopefully, those of you looking to buy this DVD haven't purchased the first one and are just looking around. If that's the case then I'm glad for you, because I just save you $40. George Alexander has no affiliation whatsoever with Heiho Niten Ichi Ryu (the actual fighting style of Miyamoto Musashi). Alexander's credentials stat he has a Phd, which clearly seems to be in marketing. He may be selling you "Eight Deadly Samurai Sword Cuts," but none of which belong to Miyamoto Musashi.

    1 out of 5 stars Crap!.......2005-05-26

I just finished watching the first 30 minutes of this movie, and had to turn it off. I simply could not watch 1 more minute of this so called movie. The story was horrible, the acting was horrible, the camera work was horrible, the fight scenes horrible, and the special effects...hmm...HORRIBLE!
Please don't waste your time with this one, you'll be sorry if you do.

1 out of 5 stars inu no kuso da yo!.......2005-05-03

This is THE WORST Japanese film I've ever seen. Bad script, bad plot, bad acting, and stupid special effects! Why waste our time by importing aweful films like this, when there are hundreds of GOOD films that haven't even been made available with English subtitles?

    About the title:
KUNOICHI: Write out hiragana KU, katakana NO, and kanji ICHI, with the characters overlayed, and you end up with ONNA, the kanji for "female."
Deadly Mirage: The Mirage is that this film might be entertaining, and the danger being how close you come to wanting to commit ritual suicide while watching.

    1 out of 5 stars Horrible..........2005-04-14

I have to agree with the other reviewer. This movie is just awful. I grabbed it thinking it would be at least marginally entertaining, but the plot was just screwy as can be and the whole supernatural angle didn't make sense at all. The 'demons' that you see in the film are laughable at best and there's just no reason for introducing them into the movie. The fight scenes are hesitant and slow, as if noone in the movie knows anything about samurai swordsmanship. The acting is abysmal and the story starts seemingly in the middle of nothingness and ends in nothingness, except with a bunch of people dead we don't care about. Gah, I can't even think about this movie without cringing. Avoid it, unless you're about ready to commit suicide--this one will push you over the edge. (Yes, that was a joke... DON'T commit suicide.)

    1 out of 5 stars Home Video?.......2004-12-12

Don't be fooled by the box art or the "supposed" big names...ie..Yutaka Akiyama or the actors Michie Tomizawa and Hiroyuki Watanabe...This film looks like a Home video!!!! Not a professional film! the acting is horrendous and the fighting is laughable, Ive seen better fights back in grade school on the playground! Its sad when you buy a dvd and find that its a low budget film with laughable special effects that look like they were done on a home computer...this isnt even a rent! This film makes most low budget films look like blockbusters!

Bad film, Bad acting BAD period!
