Birthday Bash
Sugar, spice, everything nice, and a bit of Chemical X is what it took to bring us Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup--also known as those crime- fighting kindergartners, the Powerpuff Girls. This video collection of five episodes from their hit Cartoon Network show provides a delightfully humorous introduction to the minuscule marvels. The title episode, "Birthday Bash," features the girls defeating the destructive plans of three separate villains (Mojo Jojo, the Princess, and the Amoeba Boys) without ever leaving their own birthday celebration. "Beat Your Greens" introduces us to alien broccoli, and "Stuck Up, Up and Away" shows the origin of the girls' female nemesis, Princess. "School House Rocked" and "Los Dos Mojo" complete the villain cycle by featuring the Gangrene Gang and Mojo Jojo--the ever failing and overdressed monkey--in tales that show us the girls both at school and on the job. A bonus cartoon, "Sheep in the Big City," doesn't feature the Powerpuff Girls but will be enjoyed by their fans for its combination of blatant and intelligent humor, much like the style of the jokes found in all Powerpuff episodes. With a running time of over an hour, this tape is sure to provide its viewers with a good supply of girl power. (Ages 5 and older.) --Zachary Lively
Dream Scheme
The crime-fighting kindergarteners go after the Sandman, a jealous schoolmate, the usual monsters, and a superhero impostor in this five- episode compilation from the Cartoon Network favorite. The overworked, sleep-deprived Sandman is out of control in the title episode, putting the whole world to sleep so he can get some shut-eye of his own. But the gals thwart him by appearing in his dream and turning it into a nightmare. "Just Another Manic Mojo" finds the hermit monkey trying to destroy the trio with a giant laser when they come to his castle to retrieve their wayward ball. Buttercup refuses to bathe in "Down 'n' Dirty," stinking up Pokey Oaks Kindergarten and grossing out even the villains she battles. Classmate Princess hires Mojo to isolate Chemical X and turn her into a Powerpuff Girl in "Mo Job." And muscle-bound Major Man replaces the girls in the hearts and minds of Townsville when his exploits surpass theirs--but not for long, of course. The 70-minute video includes a bonus episode of "Courage the Cowardly Dog," which involves an eggplant uprising against the dog's vegetable-loving owner, Muriel, in a story called "Journey to the Center of Nowhere." (Ages 7 and older.) --Kimberly Heinrichs

Saving the World Before Bedtime!.......2007-08-26
I have to admit that I have always had a soft spot for the Powerpuff Girls. I find the frequently tongue-in-cheek humour to be very witty and like most good cartoons are, this one is thoroughly entertaining for both kids and adults alike. My favourite Cartoon Network character is actually Dexter's Lab but until they release that on DVD I guess this will have to do as second best. This DVD has been very well thought out and designed and contains good bonus features as well as 10 great episodes. Highly recommended for a good laugh!
No Frills Collection of Good Episodes.......2007-08-03
The episodes on this disc are of the high quality I expect from this series. "Beat Your Greens" is especially creative and amusing--a twist on the age-old controversy over eating one's vegetables. Unfortunately, there aren't any extras to speak of on the DVD, so there's no compelling reason to buy the disc if you've already seen the episodes. If you're new to the series, I'd recommend starting with The Powerpuff Girls - The Movie instead.
Not very good........2006-03-20
WHY does Buttercup h8 baths?Maybe she is a STUPID GIRL!The others are better cuz they love baths.Me,too,I love baths. But I luv baths the most!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They make you clean,Plus a Shower does.
The Power Puff Girls: Birthday Bash DVD.......2004-01-04
Birthday Bash was a good DVD.It contained 2 of my favourite episodes:'Down 'n' Dirty and 'Paste makes waste.'
In'Down 'n' Dirty' Buttercup refuses to take a bath and once she got really dirty she made the town, her school and even her own house smell.Buttercup gets kicked out of town. After she flies away she fights with a monster she saw. After the fight the monster goes home and tells Buttercup that she stinks and makes her go home and have a bath so that she can fight monsters again.
'Paste makes waste is about a boy at 'Pokey Oaks Kindergarten' called Elmer Sglue who eats glue.He is teased by Mitch,Buttercup and the twins Floyd & Lloyd.Them and the rest of the class(except Blossom and Bubbles)call him "Paste eater".Later on Elmer gets very angry and turns into a paste monster and he goes to destroy the town. The only way for Elmer to stop destroying the town is by Buttercup saying she's sorry. She finally says it and Elmer and Buttercup are now friends.
I love da Powerpuffs sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!.......2003-04-18
OK! Now, let's get started. Here's the episodes of what they're about.
Birthday Bash: This is the best episode on da video!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, Its the Girls birthdays, & Mojos present is soo funny! The robot says "I am I gift from Mojo Jojo! Enjoy your birthday, or it will be your last!" hahahaha! The rocket from Princess was cool too. And the funniest present of them all was the Ameoba Boys Powerpuff Voodoo Dolls. I cracked up. And Him gives candy. (5 stars) The second one was Beat Your Greens. Another hillarious episode. It's when these evil Brocli Aliens plant brocli spores on the farm & the kids don't like Brocli. O, it's soo funny when this young dad says 2 his baby boy: "Here comes the Brocli express! Woo Woo!" O, & the brocli Aliens sound like robots with their eyes open. But, with their eyes closed, they sound like evil babys. Geesh! And, its hillarious when the kids & Powerpuffs chomp them up. (5 stars) 3d is Paste Makes Waste. Well, this boy in class, Elmer eats paste & these bullys like Mitch, Buttercup, & these 2 weird twins laugh at him 4 being a paste eater. Buttercup throws paste all over the table by saying: "Eat this, paste eata!" And when Elmer eats toxic with a bug, he turns into a man monster. Elmer puts paste all over Townsville, & it's surprising that the Mayor dosen't say anything! Idiot! Blossom & Buttercup get absorbed, & Buttercup says "I'mmmmmmm SOA-AAAARRRRR-REEEEY!!!!!!!!!!!" And Elmer says she's cool now. (5 stars) 4th is School House Rocked. Well, the Gangreene Gang go 2 school, Mr. Wednesday wanted them 2. That man sounds soo boring. But, I T loves this episode. The Gangreene Gang always fool & trick people into letting them eat food & stuff. When Ace drops it & says sorry, he really does it on purpose! Jerk!!! O, the begenning wuz kool when Ace & Snakey was playin a Powerpuff game with Bubbles vs. Fuzzy Lumpkins. Why didn't he give the Powerpuffs mean presents in Birthday Bash? Well, Ms. Keane thinks the girls we're splatting paste in school, but its the Gangreene Gang's fault of course. O, it's so funny when Billy shows he has 1 eye. HA HA HA HA HA HA! Also, when Grubber pretents 2 be a human. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! & when Turo holds up this deadly stapler who pretends its a girl. HA! & the stupid evil gang tricks the kids into playin Dodgeball. They cheat by throwing balls at the kids. Nasty freaks!!! (5 stars) Last, but not least is Los Dos Mojos. It's when Mojo destroys Townsville lighley. when Bubbles is on the ground, she hears Mojos words & teleports & wakes up thinking she's the real Mojo Jojo! AAH! She destroys townsville with dark shadowey eyes! GEE! Its soo funny when she says "I am not Bubbles! Bubbles is not my name! If u adress me by Mojo Jojo, that would be correct! I am bad, I am evil, I am Mojo Jojo!!!" Mojo Bubbles laughs like a snake. hehehe. O, she also even says "Its time to keep your maker!" & Blossom & Buttacup say "U LEAVE THE PROFECCER OUT OF THIS!!!" & Mojo Jojo Bubbles also says "Alone shall I rule this world!" & also even "What's the matta Buttacup? Afraid 2 fight?" She also kicks Mojo out of his house! (5 stars) O, the Courage bonus episode Journey to the Center of Nowere is awsome too! Well, there's these little monstrous eggplants who thinks Muriel is their enemy. O, it's soo hillarious when Courage disguises as the Great Eggplant! He says, "Fellow Eggplants, Muriel is not our real enemy." Also, he even says: "Great Eggplant says, do this funky!" (5 stars) This is da best Powerpuff video in the collection yet!

Yay for Powerpuff Girls!.......2004-11-07
This is a hilarious cartoon series that adults can enjoy watching with their kids (rather than being annoyed)...well, actually the violence is a bit questionable for younger kids--the first time I ever saw the Powerpuff Girls, they were beating up Mojo Jojo, and punching his nose caused red blood to shoot out!
Well, funny cartoon. Lots of clever jokes (many of which most kids probably won't understand).
Annoyingly, as some viewers have pointed out, the episode selection is somewhat haphazard. On vol. 2 ("Down 'n' Dirty"), the first episode ("Birthday Bash") has Princess already in prison, and then four episodes later she's *introduced* in "Stuck Up, Up and Away." (It was NOT a "revealed origen" episode.)
If you want to use "educational value" as an excuse to get the Powerpuffs Girls on DVD, do what I did: Get the Hong Kong editions (Region 3; yay for region-free DVD-players!). As near as I can tell, they're identical to the U.S. editions, except that there's ACTUALLY a choice of language selection (English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Thai) and subtitles (ENGLSIH, Chinese, Thai, and Bahasa). (They're even packaged in the same crappy snap cases, which is unusual for Hong Kong DVDs.) It's a lot of fun to watch a familiar show dubbed in another language, especially when it's something as silly as the Powerpuff Girls. Educational, too, if you're learning a second language.
Each disk has special features, usually bonus cartoons, but either I'm lacking some special software or else there are some serious misprints on the boxes, because I haven't been able to find any of the DVD-ROM features (not even on the U.S. edition of "Powerpuff Bluff" that I once rented).
In any case, highly recommend for anyone who likes funny cartoons.
For Me and My Girls.......2002-12-05
Its somthing we can watch together. I find some childrens shows Mind numbingly boring but this is one that we can watch together.
there are things that go over thire heads like all the puns in the Beat-alls but I like it.Now if Only Dexters Lab and Courage the Cowardly Dog would come out on DVD we would be set.
Ha-ha! Very inventive!.......2002-10-30
Well, what can I say? I'm a grown man, but who says grown men can't enjoy cartoon? These Powerpuff girls are hilarious! So what if they win every battle? It's not something you take seriously like Justice League or something, and these are certainly not trying to be a new Justice League or X-Men. It's just a sublimely nutty series that pokes fun at the superhero mold, all thw while commenting on pop culture and contemporary America. The plots are actually pretty clever--there's always something in there that you wouldn't find in the ordinary cartoon, whether you're talking about Johnny Bravo or Dragonball Z. This is delightful cartoon WEIRDNESS at its finest! But if you really want something, check out the movie, which should be on video in a few months. Until then, adore the innocence, exhilirate in the brutality, and laugh your head off with the Powerpuff Girls. What'll they think of next?
ENOUGH POWERPUFF!.......2002-10-01
When will they stop with the annoying "Powerpuff Girls" anyway?? They have no weakneses, every battle is won all the time, and they DON'T save the world but a ...-headed city called "Townsville" which doesn't even exist! I understand that they are the super-hero(ines) of the show, but they can at least lose here and there. I mean, come on! Superman has a weakness with Kryponite, while the Z-fighters from "Dragonball Z" lose once and a while. In other words, it's always too easy for those little brats, so what's the point?! They're always gonna win. "And so once again the day is saved, and so once again the day is saved, and so and so and so." ARRGH! Shuddap already. It's just TOO predictable. Plus, they don't even have knuckles nor fists when they punch so how can they hit THAT HARD??? They actually look more like dolls really. lol. Another problem that REALLY gets me P.O'd is that everything on the Cartoon Network seems to be about powerpuffs. "Powerpuff Girls" this, "Powerpuff Girls" that. "The Powerpuff Girls" is NOT the only popular show on that channel. Everyone's forgeting about "Dexter's Laboratory", "Ed, Edd n Eddy", "Johnny Bravo", and even the un-organized story to "Courage, the Cowardly Dog". These one's at least have better animation quality and doesn't look like something drawn by a 2-year-old. What I mean is, STOP PUTTING THE POWERPUFFS ON THE SPOTLIGHT ALL THE TIME!!! There are much better shows anyway, so why not put "Ed, Edd n Eddy" or "Johnny Bravo" on DVD for a change? That would be pretty cool really. Those shows are funnier and a whole lot more interesting than the powerpuffs (which is as fun as staring at a pile of ...!)So could you PLEASE try something else for a change like an EEnE("Ed, Edd n Eddy")DVD with the first complete season or something like that. I think it would be awesome, because the Eds can crack me up for 24/7 compared to the powerpuffs. I hope that one day they will release something like this on DVD and/or video. Just remember folks, the powerpuffs AREN'T the ones who should take the glory from other shows, especially when those artists obviously worked harder(and I do mean HARDER!) at trying to animate than those who draw powerpuffs. So why not give them some credit?
Welcome to the Powerpuff Girls.......2002-07-04
...The Powerpuff Girls is not another standard animated superhero TV series with cute moppets. First, the writers of the Powerpuff Girls ensure that the stories are written well and respect the viewer's intelligence instead of pandering to morons (a common mistake found in most animated TV series). Second, the better stories on this TV series show some common situations that a kid can relate to and how to resolve them without being too preachy. Third, there are lots of warped humor, hip contemporary references, sight gags, bad jokes, and hidden puns (e.g., Ms. Bellum's home address in "Something's a Ms."or each Powerpuff Girl using an eyebeam near the end of "The Main Event") found throughout these episodes. For these reasons, both children and adults will find this TV series fun to watch.
To honor the release of the Powerpuff Girls Movie, this review looks at the Powerpuff Girls Power Pack, the DVD boxed set that collects the first 3 Powerpuff Girls DVDs: "Powerpuff Bluff", "The Mane Event", and "Down `n' Dirty". In addition to over 5 hours of Powerpuff Girls TV episodes, this boxed set has some nice bonus features...
Get this boxed set if you love the Powerpuff Girls (or know someone who does) but have none of these DVDs in the video collection. This boxed set makes a nice birthday or Xmas present for any serious Powerpuff Girls fan.
If you don't know if you like the Powerpuff Girls, I recommend that you watch the Powerpuff Girls Movie (which tells how the Powerpuff Girls became the local superheroines of Townsville) followed by any three of the standout episodes on the above list from the Cartoon Network or any Powerpuff Girls video before deciding. But be forewarned: You may wind up enjoying the Powerpuff Girls after watching the third episode.
