With a reported budget of $172 million, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines starts in high gear and never slows down. The apocalyptic "Judgment Day" of T2 was never prevented, only postponed: John Connor (Nick Stahl, replacing T2's Edward Furlong), now 22 and disconnected from society, is being pursued yet again, this time by the advanced T-X, a sleek "Terminatrix" (coldly expressionless Kristanna Loken) programmed to stop Connor from becoming the savior of humankind. Originally programmed as an assassin, a disadvantaged T-101 cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger, bidding fond farewell to his signature role) arrives from the future to join Connor and his old acquaintance Kate (Claire Danes) in thwarting the T-X's relentless pursuit. The plot presents a logical fulfillment of T2 prophesy, disposing of Connor's mother (Linda Hamilton is sorely missed) while computer-driven machines assume control, launching a nuclear nightmare that Connor must survive. With Breakdown and U-571 serving as worthy rehearsals for this cautionary epic of mass destruction, director Jonathan Mostow wisely avoids any stylistic connection to James Cameron's Terminator classics; instead he's crafted a fun, exciting popcorn thriller, humorous and yet still effectively nihilistic, and comparable to Jurassic Park III in returning the Terminator franchise to its potent B-movie roots. --Jeff Shannon
Description
A decade has passed since John Connor (NICK STAHL) helped prevent Judgment Day and save mankind from mass destruction. Now 25, Connor lives "off the grid" - no home, no credit cards, no cell phone and no job. No record of his existence. No way he can be traced by Skynet - the highly developed network of machines that once tried to kill him and wage war on humanity. Until, out of the shadows of the future steps the T-X (KRISTANNA LOKEN), Skynet's most sophisticated cyborg killing machine yet. Sent back through time to complete the job left unfinished by her predecessor, the T-1000, this machine is as relentless as her human guise is beautiful. Now Connor's only hope for survival is the Terminator (ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER), his mysterious former assassin. Together, they must triumph over the technologically superior T-X and forestall the looming threat of Judgment Day - or face the apocalypse and the fall of civilization as we know it.

Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines [HD DVD].......2007-08-25
I already had the standard DVD version. I rate this movie a classic that is Schwarzengger's last Terminator movie & potentially his last movie overall. I also rate Terminator 3 a cut above Terminators 1 & 2. Few movies achieve bringing a mix of humour with action as this movie does not to mention an extremely beautiful woman in addition (that matches Schwarzie "blow for blow").
MST3K Fans Rejoice -- Rifftrax is Here!.......2007-08-24
Robots sent from the future into the past to kill people who will one day become important to the war against machines are like cockroaches - no matter how many of 'em you kill, there's always another, showing up one day naked in a little glowing ball of energy (the robots from the future, not cockroaches. Well, to be clear, the cockroaches show up naked as well, but without the little glowing ball of energy.) The point is, humanity's loss is our gain, as Terminator 3 offers another chance for Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger to show off his prodigious acting chops [i.e., his pecs]. Kristanna Loken co-stars as the ruthless Termanatrix, a superior model of robot with, I think you'll agree, a superior bare backside, altogether less hairy, not nearly as Austrian, with smooth, clean lines and a... anyway, back to the synopsis.
Arnold must protect John Connor (Nick Stahl) not only from the Terminatrix, but also, because the kid is a supremely annoying presence, from all those who want to slap him, and that encompasses everyone who has ever met him. Things get complicated when a whiny young irritant named Kate (Claire Danes) locks John into an unhygienic dog kennel and refuses to even worm him.
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is a big, dumb movie filled with big, dumb people. Kevin Murphy and Mike Nelson are two big, dumb guys who are just dumb enough to take it on!
Second DVD reveals the real "stars" of the film.......2007-06-17
Though the casting is perfect (Arnold again in his trademark role, Kristanna Loken as the sexy and equally as destructive "female" cyborg, and Nick Stahl appropriately looking like the spawn of Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn) and the direction and pacing is tight and relentless, the DVD provides insight into the technical artists that are responsible for the fantastic effects of the movie, along with the preceding films in the franchise.
The second DVD in the compilation profiles Stan Winston, visual effects director, and his talented staff as they explain the many "tricks" of the trade in the making of this movie.
Though it might be a bit disconcerting to discover the process behind "movie magic," just revelations are informative to those that are really into the technical aspects of filmmaking.
Much has changed in the almost twenty years since the first film was made and this sequel; and the filmmakers are anxious to explain the "how's" and "why's" of said change.
Good movie, looks amazing in HD.......2007-06-14
The video quality is nothing short of spectacular.
Tame third instalment.......2007-05-08
Passable only extension to the terminator franchise, this serves only to set the stage for more potential films. As a stand alone product it's pretty futile, Sarah has died, John is still living on the fringes whining a lot, a new improved terminator wants him dead and Arnold wants to keep him alive. Much of this repeats stuff you've already seen in T1 & T2, but tamer as they clearly want to keep the rating as low as possible. Scenes that went over well in the first two get recycled almost unchanged in three, it's depressingly derivative.
Linda Hamilton wisely bailed, Arnold needs so much make up to combat the ravages of time he looks rubberised, the new caste members aren't really good enough to take up the load and the jokes are so laboured they creak. It's entertaining enough, but you really wonder why they bothered.

While the 1960 version of The Time Machine remains a science fiction classic, this adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel benefits from a dazzling CGI facelift. Digital wizardry shows us the awesome splendor of eons passing in an eye blink, while Wells's heroic time traveler--played with appealing conviction by Memento's Guy Pearce--is given a stronger motivation for piloting his time machine 800,000 years into the future. Long after New York City has crumbled and the moon shattered by a nuclear accident, Pearce finds a new home with the peacefully primitive Eloi, after confronting the subterranean Morlocks (courtesy of Stan Winson's monster shop) and their evil overlord (Jeremy Irons in wicked, pigmentless makeup). Trading Wells's social commentary for pure adventure, director Simon Wells (the author's great-grandson) maintains the story's legacy of wonder, despite a few hokey embellishments. Catering to a younger audience, this Time Machine is fun without being particularly distinguished--a treat for the eyes, if not the brain. --Jeff Shannon
Customer Reviews:
NOt quite on par with the original but good........2007-09-02
I really enjoyed this film, a sense of fun is to be had and some food of thought. Guy Pearce is a great actor and does well in this. I never quite understood why alot of people didn't like this, it in no way butchers H.G. Wells story, like the original this one entertains.
Has the usual modern film-making problems.......2007-08-26
This 2002 version of the H.G. Wells story is simply awful, and should never have been made. The movie simply deviates too much from Wells' original intentions for the story in terms of story direction and purpose. And the scene that really got me the most was when Guy Pearce meets a Weena-type in this film. In what is so typical of digital-age movies, this Weena-type immediately greets the time traveler with sarcastic remarks. She says to him, "They're deciding if they should throw you in the water or not." Then the time traveler says he came in a time machine, so the Weena-type then says something like, "Oh, then maybe they'll think you're just a walking nut." This is such a ridiculous attitude the writers gave her. She sees a complete stranger arriving in their somewhat primitive society, who claims he's from a different time period, and she just has a cavalier attitude, complete with a dry sense of humor. In this particular situation, this is not a realistic attitude for someone to have, regardless of how much some people today might think this is realistic. The Weena in the original 1960 film might've been too child-like, but her initial reaction to the time traveler was much more believeable. But personally, I think the most realistic-behaving Weena was the one played by Priscilla Barnes in the 1978 made-for-TV version.
The visual effects in this version are the best, and the images showing the continuous time progression looked much better than in the earlier movies.
Finally, Guy Pearce gave a decent performance, but as with a lot of actors these days, his performance just seemed phoned-in. It's a shame, because Rod Taylor really loved doing the 1960 original, and his heart and soul was really into the project. You just don't seem to see much of that with today's A-list performers.
Great Sci Fi.......2007-04-25
if you like sci fi, and enjoy a large scale presentation (on a big home system), this movie is haunting, sad and powerful. i do not understand the poor reviews by some unless they do not like sentimental and unhappy endings...
Ridiculous film doesn't even make sense.......2007-04-08
This insipid remake takes far too many liberties with the story, butchers its source material, and unsurprisingly ends up being quite a mess. Furthermore, the movie doesn't even really make sense when you think about it. The protagonist this time wants to travel to the past to save his love, and finds he can't alter what happened. This turns out to supposedly be because of a `time paradox' (though how the protagonist `caused' the Jeremy Irons character to exist is never explained). He then goes to the future where he CAN alter events. The remake entirely forgets the point that the Eloi are supposed to be cattle, and not a somewhat advanced civilization. That they're not kind of entirely destroys the whole point of the book, and the film greatly suffers as a result. The character played by Jeremy Irons was a dumb addition to the story, and so was introducing Eloi that speak English! Ironically, the special effects used to depict the Morlocks were better in the 60s film! Some bad choices were made here, to be certain. In the original the protagonist travels to the future because he does not like the Victorian era, and he learns that the assumption that things will only get better with time and `progress' isn't entirely true. Things only got worse. Here we're given a silly subplot about a lost loved one. In the original the protagonist basically happens upon a hippy commune and teaches them how to be men, how to fight the Morlocks. In the remake the protagonist blows up his time machine, which magically ages all the Morlocks and kills them, but doesn't age anything else around them, which is yet another thing in the film that makes no sense. The original, it bears mentioning, boasts one of the greatest soundtracks ever written. The music in the remake sounds like some annoying drivel lifted from The Lion King.
Great Movie.......2007-03-15
I have read Well's book and seen the older movie. That said, I love this movie. Guy Pearce is very convincing in his role.
We see a man in love. When he looses that love, he uses his genius to try and save her. Failing to do that, he embarks on a quest to find out why. When he gets his answer, he realizes he has found a new life, and to leave the past in the past.
I thought the ending, with the past next to the future, was well done.
And Orlando Jones role is entertaining.

As paranoid cop Del Spooner, Will Smith (Independence Day, Men in Black) displays both his trademark quips and some impressive pectoral muscles in I, Robot. Only Spooner suspects that the robots that provide the near future with menial labor are going to turn on mankind--he's just not sure how. When a leading roboticist dies suspiciously, Spooner pursues a trail that may prove his suspicions. Don't expect much of a connection to Isaac Asimov's classic science fiction stories; I, Robot, the action movie, isn't prepared for any ruminations on the significance of artificial intelligence. This likable, efficient movie won't break any new ground, but it does have an idea or two to accompany its jolts and thrills, which puts it ahead of most recent action flicks. Also featuring Bridget Moynahan (The Sum of All Fears), Bruce Greenwood (The Sweet Hereafter), and James Cromwell (Babe, LA Confidential). --Bret Fetzer
Description
In the year 2035, technology and robots are a trusted part of everyday life. But that trust is broken when a scientist is found dead and a skeptical detective (Smith) believes that a robot is responsible. Bridget Moynahan co-stars in this high-tech action thriller that questions whether technology will ultimately lead to mankind's salvation . . . or annihilation.

I enjoyed it.......2007-09-07
I've read some reviews where people have commented that Wil Smith's was awkward, bad acting, goofy, Big Bird etc and obviously everyone is entitled to their opnion (hence this site ) but I totally diagree. I feel that his acting skills improved in this movie. Also, the story was said to have too many implausible themes but most movies do. If I wanted to watch a movie based on a true story I would and if I did then maybe I would comment on what was and was not implausible or not. I think the movie was thought provoking, action filled, good acting and a nice story line. Kept me entertained..
Why can't Spielberg make movies like this anymore?.......2007-08-16
I finally caught this film, almost by accident, since it had been broadcast on basic cable earlier, and taped it, which came in handy for this is a great movie, complex and challenging and mind-expanding from beginning to end, and in itself may be a "buy" in my near future, based only on what I saw at first, and further on and in, and again. If you see this and like it, or love it (as I did/do), this would be a worthy addition to any collection of great filmic sci-fi treatments of classic other medium, but it stands alone as just a great, intelligent, sci-film and one of the best I've ever seen.
Throughout and at the end, while marveling at this, the smartest and most innovative Hollywood sci-fi film since perhaps the first "Matrix," I kept wondering, why can't soul-less and money/fame corrupted Steven come up with a gem like this anymore? This puts Spielberg's recent tries (AI, Minority Report, War of the Worlds - Remake), to shame. I, Robot is compelling, start to finish, and despite some obvious action-adventure trappings along the way, almost everything about this feels and plays right on the mark.
It seems an injustice to do any sort of capsule storyline review, as it might contain spoilers. Suffice it to say that among all the FX, which are spectacular and so well blended into live action scenes as to be almost unnoticed at times while one is caught up in the story and characters and superb, mostly linear plot, the individual robot face and body renderings are first rate. As are extended times when multitudes of robots become "insurgents" against the madness and folly of mere human thinking, and other parts when the 2035AD robots personally go after Will Smith (how could they?!). Of course, true to the original material, it's not as simple as your average "Terminator" flick, and goes light years beyond what I think Steven could've come up with.
I tend towards trying to write more lengthly reviews on Amazon, but this film is so nearly perfect, to those who really get it, that words fail in a way. If you've never seen this, and are at all into really "deep" ideas in a 21st century Hollywood sci-fi film, along with great FX which only add and do not retract from the whole, you owe yourself a possible treat.
Once in awhile, the corporate Hollywood film structure, either intentionally or accidentally comes up with a clear winner. Especially in the sci-fi/fantasy genre. This is surely one. I was completely blown away by this, perhaps because I didn't expect too much given recent industry efforts and after seeing former master Spielberg fail again and again, despite the budgets and celebrities, but like the original Matrix and followups, this really broke new ground for me, and made me think and for a long time following my initial viewing.
This film will either stick to your metaphysical sci-fi ribs or not. All I really had/have to go on, is years of either silly or disappointing efforts from the studio system to give real due to a master of sci-fi, and while maintaining purely action-oriented entertainment sequences, this goes so much deeper, and is well worth repeated viewings, and enjoyment of all the great things this work has to offer.
I'd give it six stars if I could. A modern day sci-fi/fantasy masterpiece, based upon the works and ideas of one of the greatest and most imaginative minds of this, or any other era. Great, great film...
Was it the robot in the study with the candlestick?.......2007-08-15
Well, if you love a good "murder who done it mystery" then you'll like this film. If you are going to compare it to Asimov's original work, that would be a mistake. This is a very good film in its own right, but not something that is really related to Asimov's work on the subject.
This film has a very simple plot line for the most part. A key scientist sees that the 3 laws, which robots operate by, are not only perfect, but that they will cause all robots to revolt against humanity, simply because man is incapable of taking care of himself and is self destructive in nature.
VIKI the head computer, eventually determines this for mankind and controls all newly created NS-5 robots to revolt, except for one exceptional robot named Sonny, who has free will and is able to feel. Makes me think of Osamu Tezuka's 2004 Astro Boy remake. The comparison is similar.
Anyway, this scientist realizes that he won't be able to get the world to see what he sees coming, so he has himself killed, but by who? Here comes the "murder who done it" part of the whole movie. You have to try and figure out his death and why it was done. You do this through Will Smith's character, who doesn't really trust robots all that much. Reminds me of the inspector in Astro Boy.
There is allot of CGI work and action scenes adding to the usual Hollywood roller coaster ride of special effects in this film, especially an attack scene on Will Smith by two truck loads of NS-5 robots, while Will Smith is driving through a long tunnel, which will keep your eye balls rolling in your head trying to keep pace with the action.
Revelation wise, no real great revelations are given in this film; but if you were to grade it on its own merit, it makes for a good action film and mystery "who done it" with twists and turns. The CGI graphics are incredible and well done. The acting is pretty down to earth for the most part. Otherwise I gave this 4 stars for its own merit, but not to compare it to Asimov's original work.
Robots Aplenty.......2007-08-13
I, Robot is a sci-fi action movie that's supposedly loosely based on the short stories of Isaac Asimov. I wouldn't know how loosely since I've never read any of them but I didn't see anything wrong with the movie itself. It revolves heavily around Asimov's concept of the Three Laws of Robotics having unexpected consequences but also has plenty of action scenes of Will Smith fighting swarms of hostile robots so I'd think it's a good compromise between the stories of two generations ago and the needs of modern cinema.
It's the year 2035 and the city of Chicago is crawling with humanoid robots that do everything for everyone and are perfect at everything they do. I wonder how the American economy can still work. The robots are not sentient like in most other movies but are simply intelligent machines bound by programming to ensure that they are perfectly obedient and can never hurt people.
Will Smith plays Detective Spooner, the only person in the world who hates robots. He's investigating the death of Dr. Lanning, the "father of robotics". It seems to be a suicide but Spooner suspects a killer robot. Everybody thinks he's crazy but you can hardly blame him when robots seem to be malfunctioning all around him in spectacular and violent ways. Will Smith brings his own unique style of humor to the role but he does play it more seriously than most of his other movies. Bridget Moynahan plays Dr. Susan Calvin, a very serious psychologist who is annoyed by Spooner's irrational hatred towards robots. Surprise, surprise, there's also the stereotypical robot who can think for itself and even has emotions to complete the character trinity and give the audience someone to sympathise with.
I really liked the design of the NS-5 robots in this movie. Instead of being tin-men like C-3PO or androids like Data, they are something in between. Their slender bodies and translucent skin is very original and contrasts with their amazing strength and fighting skill. For human vs robot and robot vs robot action, this movie is right at the top.
A Fun Movie, A Better Book.......2007-08-08
I, Robot (DVD)
I, Robot is supposedly based upon the bookI, ROBOT by Isaac Asimov,(The Good Doctor). I've read the book and IMHO they have very little in common. They both have robots in them and that's about it.
I did enjoy the movie, however. I just wish the screenplay had been closer to the book. I doubt that the Good Doctor would have approved, but he's dead now so he doesn't get a vote.
I still recommend the movie ,but be sure to read the book.

Until?out of the shadows of the future steps the T-X (KRISTANNA LOKEN), Skynet's most sophisticated cyborg killing machine yet. Sent back through time to complete the job left unfinished by her predecessor, the T-1000, this machine is as relentless as her human guise is beautiful. Now Connor's only hope for survival is the Terminator (ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER), his mysterious former assassin. Together, they must triumph over the technologically superior T-X and forestall the looming threat of Judgment Day?or face the apocalypse and the fall of civilization as we know it.

Bridget Moynahan co-stars in this high-tech action

Jack Arnold's horror classic The Creature from the Black Lagoon spawned not one but two iconic images: the web-footed humanoid gill-man with a hankering for women and the leggy, luscious Julia Adams, the object of his desire, swimming the lagoon in a luminous white bathing suit. Not since King Kong has the "beauty and the beast" theme been portrayed in such sexually charged (though chaste) terms. Arnold turns an effectively B-movie plot--a small expedition up a remote Amazon river captures a prehistoric amphibian man, who escapes to wreak havoc on the team and kidnap his bathing beauty--into a moody, stylish, low-budget feature. The jungle exteriors turn from exotic to treacherous when the creature blocks their passage and strands them in the wilds. Much of the film is shot underwater, where the murky dark is animated by shimmering shards of sunlight, creating images both lovely and alien (the studio-built sets of the creature's underground lair are far less naturalistic, but serve their purpose). As with most of Arnold's '50s genre films, he's saddled with a less than magnetic leading man (in this case the colorless but stalwart Richard Carlson) and a conventional script, but he overcomes such limitations by creating a vivid and sympathetic monster (helped immeasurably by a marvelous suit of scales and fins) and establishing a mood thick with atmosphere. The film was originally shot in 3-D. --Sean Axmaker

3D is technically possible.......2007-05-27
It is not true that a special projecting procedure is necessary to view this film in 3D. It was broadcast once in the 80ies in German TV and 3D glasses were given out for free at the newsstands the days before. Maybe the effect is not as good as watching it in a cinema, but I still remember very good how I saw air bubbles emerging out of the ground in front of me sitting in my armchair :) So I will definitely wait for the 3D version on DVD!
Best monster movie.......2007-02-16
This is a classic. A monster movie that you sympathise more with the monster than with anybody else. Kind of in the footsteps ofthe original King Kong (not the remakes). The photography is superb and so is the directing. This is a must see and must have movie so you can watch it again!!
On a Tributary of the Amazon.......2006-10-16
We had the pleasure of seeing this the other night in San Francisco at the Castro Theater, in dual projection 3-D against a silver screen. Flimsy little glasses were provided to help blend the images poppped out onto the screen by the twin projectors. It must have cost a mint just to stage this show, but happily the event was packed with like minded Creature lovers and everyone cheered, ooeh and aahed as soon as the Brazilian diggers uncover, in a solid block of limestone, the skeletonized hand of a long dead Creature, its webbed fingers beckoning right out over the audience's heads! It was a powerful punch to the solar plexus and a reminder that even archaeology has its thrills.
The 3-D effects are more subtle than you'd think. There's nothing else, for example, as in your face as the ping pong ball that jumps repeatedly off the screen in HOUSE OF WAX. Here, director Jack Arnold seems to be trying really hard to give flesh and blood to his two pprotagonists, Richard Carlson and Richard Denning, showing them off as the brain and the emotions, while Julie Adams plays sensitively and sympathetically to both. Is she sort of trying to figure out which side of the bread her butter's on? The doctor tells her that she repaid any debt she owed Richard Carlson long ago--she doesn't owe him anything anymore her playing Pygmalion to her untutored Galatea.
So in a way it's hard to tell upfront which man she's going to wind up with. The Creature I found sympathetic in a way, but I think the performance must be docked a wee bit because of the different actors playing the part. Up on top it's the sensitive, tortured Ben Chapman, while down below, Ricou Browning's frisky balletic style. like Harold Land underwater, makes him seem more fancy free.
To top it off Julie Adams and Ben Chapman were there, discussing the complex dynamic of the "beauty and the beast" scenario producer William Alland dreamed up on a South American jaunt with Orson Welles. Miss Adams has got to be in her 70s surely, and yet she is still heart-stoppingly gorgeous and lovely. She spoke to anyone who approached her, seemingly grateful to the fans who have kept the "Creature from the Black Lagoon," and the woman he loved, alive in cultural memory for more than fifty years now. It was an enchanted evening--in dual projection 3-D no less.
Julia Adams as the Beauty........2006-02-01
The Creature has a good reason for wanting Julia Adams for his own! She wears this hot bikini thoughout most of the movie, revealing much of her legs and figure. A dicription of her throughout the movie would be, Long black beautiful hair, small tight frilly bikini revealing her breast figure, most of back is naked , and so are shoulders. The bathing suit comes up short on her hips revealing both legs. Barefoot throughout the whole movie. You might say half naked! If you are looking for a movie with true American beauty, watch Julia Adams in {The Creature From the Black Lagoon}
In the beginning..............2006-01-30
The 1954 classic available for your own collection! This is more than just another talkie. This is sort of a peice of cinema history. The classic beauty and the beast story is told in a wonderul way! With great underwater shots and fairly good special effects, this is a wonderful item for anyone to own. I think what I liked most about it is that it was a little bit different than all the other monster flicks. Beacuse you really feel sorry for the Creature when he gets shot. I think one of my favorite scenes was when he bust's the cage and and escaped the ship. There are just so many wonderful things about this movie. Like how well Rieu Browning swam in that heavy suit, and the classic scene where Julia Adams decides to go take a swim, not knowing that the Creature was trieing to get her attention below. And Finally after a bunch of lousey attemps to steal his precios beuaty, he sneaks on the boat and walks up behind her, puts her over his shoulder and carrys her down to his watery home. Let me point out that Julia Adams is lousey screamer for monster movie's! Not very important considering she is so beautiful throughout the movie, but definetley no Fay Wray. One of the best clips is when the Gill Man lifts up his hand out of the water and almost grabsthe girls foot, but she moves in the nick of time! The first time I ever saw this however, I was a little disapointed with how sort of sudden it ended. Right after the guys come to Julia's rescue, they shoot him and he wobbles back into the ocean and die's.Maybe a little too breif I thought. However there are two sequels after the original, that showed the Creatures sad encouters with mankind and civilization. This will always be one of my favorite movies and Im sure you'll enjoy it if you havent already seen it. Seen it or havent, it is a spectacular movie to own, and I also reccomend the two seqeuls.

Product Description
René Laloux's mesmerising psychedelic sci-fi animated feature won the Special Jury Prize at the 1973 Cannes Film Festival and is a landmark of European animation. Based on Stefan Wul's novel Oms en série [Oms by the Dozen], Laloux's breathtaking vision was released in France as La Planète sauvage [The Savage Planet]; in the USA as Fantastic Planet; and immediately drew comparisons to Swift's Gulliver's Travels and Planet of the Apes (both the 1968 film and Boule's 1963 novel). Today, the film can be seen to prefigure much of the work of Hayao Miyazaki at Studio Ghibli (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away) due to its palpable political and social concerns, cultivated imagination, and memorable animation techniques.
Fantastic Planet tells the story of "Oms", a human-like species, kept as domesticated pets by an alien race of blue giants called "Draags". The story takes place on the Draags' planet Ygam, where we follow our narrator, an Om called Terr, from infancy to adulthood. He manages to escape enslavement from a Draag learning device used to educate the savage Oms - and begins to organise an Om revolt. The imagination invested in the surreal creatures, music and sound design, and eerie landscapes, is immense and unforgettable. This release includes the early LaLoux short "The Snails".
Special Features: English Language version, Original Subtitled version, photo gallery, trailer, Fantastic Laloux, the new 26 minute documentary on director Rene Laloux, short animated film Les Escargots (The Snails), an animated segment of Sean Lennon s music video for Would I Be The One , inspired by Fantastic Planet

A key scientist sees that the 3 laws, which robots operate by, are not only perfect, but that they will cause all robots to revolt against h
