Description

BURNT OUT .......2007-01-14

This would be an exciting film for children. For adults: Cheesy script, poor acting and campy stuntwork/camerawork/special effects.

Cheesy yet enjoyable..........2006-11-03

I first saw this movie on the Sci-Fi Channel when they were showing 'marathon' of movies featuring dragons. The subject of review says it all 'Cheesy yet enjoyable'. There are parts that are unintentionally funny: Silas' groomed hair, Princess' attire (lingerie and black pants), Girl who yells "Fire!" when operating the catapult (even though she is the one pulling the device). The movie does has its own charm and it is enjoyable (if you can take it for what it's worth -- Sci-Fi Weekend Movie).

I liked the movie so much that I bought from Amazon. Recommended if you like these kind of movies. =)

... Now how do you start a review of this kind of movie. Was it a movie? When all of a DOZEN towns people at the gate are waving farewell and sending the would be heros into battle against the (wonderfully computer rendered)dragons doesn't that just somehow seem sad. We six Heros will die so that the dragons won't eat the rest of you! Thats right all 11 of...oh Im sorry didn't see you there, ALL TWELVE of you. I especially like how in this town of twelve+heros there happens to be a traveling deadly martial arts guy, a beautiful girl with a huge crossbow on wheels,(talk about envy) and the robin hood guy, except he's actually from outside the town. So I'm going to stop now before I cry... Yes it was that bad. But as always watch it for the Heck of it and try not to be upset about time lost in a vigilant attempt to make sense out of the dragon storm movie thing..experience thing.

Well-Done Fun!.......2006-01-17

This movie is just a bit of fun! The acting, directing and production values are very good. Maxwell Caulfield makes an excellent reluctant hero and John Rhys Davies injects humor into his villanous role. The medieval setting is more convincing and less glamorous than in many movies I've seen. The script is pretty good, as dragon eggs land like comets on the earth, but we aren't sure at first (and neither are the characters) what they are. Even though the movie is not a bloodfest, it is too scary for children. The dragons do kill people, there is a fair amount of suspense, and the dragons are frightening.

It just doesn't get any worse than this!.......2005-11-28

Oh my, this movie was God-awful. It has the feel throughout of a group of first time actors playing medieval dress-up and dragons for the camera. The special effects consist of computer-generated dragons and an extreme overuse of people's backs getting set on fire... that's pretty much it. The plot is also very weak and so typical. The fighting scenes are horribly choreographed and the acting is so bad that it looks like first time efforts for every actor except for the two kings and Theldag. Picture Ben Stiller with a slight beard, medieval clothes, and a wig. That's the hero in this calamity of a movie. There's also the typical trite and very poor attempt at humor spattered throughout also. This is definitely a low budget title. It's also in 4:3 full screen only. I consider this movie purchase one of the worst I have ever made, but it was cheap. You get what you pay for.

Read the books, saw the show, it's all good........2006-01-11

The first of the two animated installments of the Redwall series has the same trait as the book: it takes a while to establish the style of the setting. Anyone who has read the entire series knows that Redwall has many inconsistancies with the rest of them. The show is no different; in fact the second storyline, based on Mattimeo, is much more faithful to the book.
The many omitted details from Redwall are obvious, but they're mostly the darker ones. And yes, some of the slayings are present, but I didn't see graphic blood flying across the screen, just shadows. And did anyone see bits of Cluny go flying as the bell crushed him? Didn't think so. As for the two added characters, why not? They give a bit extra to the plot, and don't clash with the setting or story at all.
The only thing I objected to was the one use of the word 'damn' in toward the beginning of the show. This may be part of the reason PBS pulled it. Another thing could have been the complexities of the story. It's a young adult novel at heart, not PBS's usual daytime audience.
This series is quite enjoyable, and like all first efforts, has some rough spots. Nonetheless, I recommend it.
By the by, it's not good form to criticise a person's voice, doncha know? Impertinent thing to do, wot wot?

This is the first four episode from the redwall cartoon show that was briefly on PBS was discontinued for reason unknow to me. It is good several of the events have been modified and there order changed. There are two new charaters in it that weren't in the original book a knife thrower and a spice trader. I loved the cartoon show. The reason why it's only a 4 because some of the good parts from the book like the murder of Scrag were not shown. The other reason why it's only a four because several parts of it the crashing of cluny cart the murder of Sella, the attack on Chicken hound by Asmodous and the aftermath of the struggle between Mathisas and king Bull Sparrow cluny falls from the tree were censored. Surprisingly three of the most violently parts in the book the slaying of Asmodous, Cluny and Cheesetheif were not censored.
Asmodous you see behead. Cluny you she crushed by the Joeseph Bell. One of the most intense scenes when Mathisis meets captain snow was censored the bones of his previous meals are not shown. There was another scene was censored when mathisas falls from the rafters into Siquire Julian mouth. In the original book he panks and screams like a sissy girl. This is a good movie. But if you want to hear the storey in it's original uncesored form buy the redwall unabridge ten disc collection. You can get this one Amazom for about 25 or 30 dollars. I dont recommend this unless you are super patient for it take a long time about 12 hours to listen to one redwall storey unabriged on cd or casete once. If you wnat to get the other 9 episode buy Redwall Friend and foes dvd.

Oh Lord.......2005-09-13

I have read the book of Redwall many times and when i saw the movie my first thought was 'oh god they've gone and slaughtered the book' but i decided to give it a try anyway, and boy was i right. things are swiched around, people who die in the book don't, they miss whole chunks and they skip out on all the big battles but the one thing i thought they got right was Basil Stag Hair. but though Basil is the commic relief they completly down played him. they do have many of the lines from the book but besides the battles one part i really missed from the book was when Basil had the rats chasing him and he was frolicking around them pelting them with dasies. i was so dissapointed with the way they made this. it makes Matthias seem alot stupider and less like the hero he is in the book. it also has cornflower dissing matthias. whats up with that? AND WHEN DOES CORNFLOWER HELP WITH THE SEARCH FOR THE TOMB AND THE SWORD!? to any who have read and liked the book i would not recomend this at all. it distorts the plot and adds background not mentioned in the book which makes no sence because who ever said anything about matthias wanting revenge in the book? Oh and its in episodes. the first disk has only the first four episodes which gets you to just after King Bull sparra trys to kill Matthias, he wakes up and it pretty much ends after that. To those who have read the book we all know that the Father Abbot agreed to defend the abby but not attack, but in the movie thing he is completly against any combat. its like he dosent care if people die. and no one really even cares about matthias, they all ignore him untill he does something dangerous or stupid. all in all it was a big dissapointment and to any redwall fans dont watch this, it will depress you.

Good dvd, but only the first 4 episodes.......2005-07-31

Good video quality, but note that this dvd contains only the first 4 episodes of Matthias's story arc, stopping at his fight with the Sparrow King. Would have been great to have all of the story arc released at the same time.

A Must See!.......2002-05-17

This movie had me on the edge of my seat for two hours! This action packed thriller has it all. The beautiful young hostage (played by Becky Israel) is a star in the making. I think this is the beginning of a successful career for her.
