My thoughts.......2007-08-06
I've downloaded and scene almost all of the episodes on this DVD , but I must say this is a great collection worth buying , if you like the Halo games . you'll laugth out loud when you watch this .
Hilarious.......2007-01-07
IMPORTANT: I don't know why the sellers think the kind of prices I'm currently seeing for this are reasonable, but as of the time I'm writing this review the cheapest price here is roughly DOUBLE what you would pay at the official Rooster Teeth website for the same DVD. (Rooster Teeth is what they call the group that makes this series.)
The Red vs Blue series is a great deal of fun to watch. Characters constantly throw around funny lines and find their way into absurd-but-amusing situations.
The series is an example of machinima, which refers to playing out a story by using the graphics engine of a video game. In this case they used the popular shooter game Halo. They basically use one character as the camera operator, and have him watch the other characters act out whatever needs to be done. The video is directed to a computer, and they later add recorded voices and edit it all together into coherent scenes.
These DVDs haven't been rated, so I'll try to give you a basic sense of what to expect. Since they use Halo to produce all of the images, you won't see anything worse in terms of violence or gore than you would in a game of Halo (which is rated as appropriate for teenagers by the ESRB). Generally, in fact, you'll see quite a bit less violence since Halo is a game about combat, where the violence is constant, and the characters in Red vs Blue spend most of their time talking to each other. HOWEVER there is a substantial amount of profanity. As they got to later episodes and realized that their fan base was turning out to include people somewhat younger than originally expected they cut back on that somewhat, but it still continues to appear. Also, the characters spend a large part of their time insulting each other in one way or another, if that kind of thing happens to bother you.
If you go to the official Rooster Teeth website, they allow you to download the current season's episodes (as well as some older episodes) in a low resolution format, playable in either Quicktime or Windows Media Player. That will give you plenty of opportunity to watch a few minutes and get a sense of whether you'll enjoy an entire DVD's worth.
Note, however, that there'll actually be a small amount of content from the episodes on the website that's cut when it's all edited together to make a DVD. That's because at the end of each episode it fades to black, and in many the character's keep talking for several more seconds. Each episode is only a few minutes long, and so when they're edited into a movie for the DVD they have to cut the sections where the screen is black in order to avoid disrupting the flow. In some cases they specially made an additional few seconds of "footage" to slip in so that they wouldn't have to cut any jokes, but in other cases they simply cut the last several seconds off of a scene. They never remove anything important this way, but if you're deciding between subscribing on the website to get the high resolution versions as downloads, or waiting to buy the seasonal DVDs, you may very well care about those small snippets that are being lost.
Each DVD also includes a commentary vocal track, a few outtakes, some mock-PSAs (Public Service Announcements), and some small jokes that appear if you click the right series of buttons on your VCR controls.

very inspiring.......2007-07-31
I love animation, especially stop motion and I have been researching the medium because I want to make my own film and I found this movie extremely inspiring. I have thought of all of the work involved with puppet making, set building, animating, camera work, etc. and the process is pretty overwhelming. To see someone do it on their own and to complete a 70 minute beautiful film blows me away and I have tremendous respect for the artist. I really love her costumes and props. Thank you Christiane for enduring and completing this masterpiece.
I love this!!!.......2007-05-31
this is one one the most fabulous and magical things I have ever viewed. I saw it at the film festival at convergence 13 and needed to buy my own copy to show to all my friends. absolutely lovely!!!!
Amazing to see & savor!.......2007-04-10
This would be an astonishing film under any circumstances, given its detail & dreamlike, sometimes nightmarish quality. Knowing that it was made by one person over 13 years only increases my admiration. Truly a labor of love! Rich colors, fascinating characters that capture both the innocence & exaggerated fears of a child's world, memorable images that seem almost archetypal -- just stunning. It has the look & flavor of a very old tale, repeated over countless generations. If you're looking for something different, something very far from the mass market animation that seems to exist solely to sell cheap merchandise, then you won't go wrong here. Most highly recommended!
Darkly traggic and beautiful.......2007-01-21
This is an excellent yet very "odd" film. It's definitely not a "normal" film like you would find in the theaters. I really loved the film, but some people may find it a bit too odd for their tastes. If you like artsy, dark, and symbolic sort of stuff, you'll like this film. If you go to movies thinking the Rock is the best actor evar, then don't watch this.
The animation is quite good, and the usage of colors and images is excellent. It's quite amazing how much you can feel for the characters in this film. The DVD comes with some extras where you get to see the artist's paintings as she discusses them with another person. I recommend this to anyone who likes the "out of the norm" artistic films.
Dark Fairy Tale.......2007-01-12
This film is not for everyone, but if you like things that are truly unusual and artistic, without a lot of dialogue, check this one out. This is not a kid's movie, even though it's a fairy tale of sorts. The artist who made the film took years to hand-craft each "puppet" (for lack of a better word -- this is not Sesame Street...). If you like dark, artistic animation such as The Nightmare Before Christmas or Spirited Away, and/or darkly dreamy fairy tales such as The Company of Wolves or Ginger Snaps, and/or films about dreams such as The Science of Sleep, you might check out this film.

A mixture of science fiction and supernatural elements, the 2005 broadcast series Trinity Blood is set in the far future, when humans and vampires vie for control of the Earth. Abel Nightroad is an itinerant priest who helps the friendless and cadges meals. But when a real threat appears, he transforms into an uber-beast who feeds on the blood of vampires. Trinity Blood plays like a mixture of Hellsing and Trigun, although the elongated designs recall Aeon Flux. Nightroad is a wanderer reminiscent of Vash the Stampede, but he lacks the offbeat charm of the Humanoid Typhoon. The plot is even more improbable--and more likely to offend Catholic viewers--than Hellsing. The Vatican is run not by the boy-pope Alessandro XVIII, but by Cardinal Catherine, who sports a monocle like Sir Integra Hellsing's. For all his wandering, neither Nightroad nor the plot seems to get much of anywhere. The elaborate CG palaces, cathedrals, and space ships never blend with the two-dimensional animation of the characters. Trinity Blood might be more entertaining if it didn't take itself quite so seriously. (Unrated, suitable for ages 16 and older: graphic violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity, tobacco use, potentially offensive religious imagery.) --Charles Solomon

Nice beginning.......2007-04-02
I watched the first chapter of Trinity Blood and I loved it. The first chapter introduces you to the characters and storyline. Each episode tells a different story. It is also full of mystery since the main story is not revealed yet as part of the suspense. The drawings are fantastic and the characters are wonderful. You get to know the mysterious Father Nightroad a bit and then Sister Esther, then you relate them to the ending song which excites you to watch the rest of the series and learn more. In general, it is a nice beginning.
Cliched and Wooden.......2007-04-01
The boy pope.
His sister the cardinal.
The evil, bloodthirsty primate of Rome.
Women bishops/priests.
Super vampire priest, killer of vampires.
What I'm getting at is how the potential of this series, combined with the obviously expensive animation, is completely over-ridden by its incredulous premise. The clergy are weak, emotional, and sadly pathetic, especially in there complete lack of faith and dependence on their ongoing conflict with the vampires. The only redeeming character is Fr Abel, who doesn't really seem to be much of a priest, or much of a warrior, until he starts spitting out power release percentages, very similar to Alucard on Hellsing.
I might have stuck with it past this first disk, but the characters in Rome are so nauseating that I'd rather not watch them bumble around any more. And the android priest has got to be one of the most poorly contrived characters I've ever seen (or heard).
Most of the voice actors are sub par, but Abel's is pretty good.
The Bottom Line: Skip it. There's much better anime out there.
Reminds me of Trigun a little bit.......2007-03-04
This series has the potential to be groundbreaking but right now I'm just not feeling it at all. Anyone who read my review of trigun already knows how I feel about that. I just dont like the kind of characters who are such clumsy geeks and then all of the sudden he's this super bada**. This story takes place in a post apocalyptic world, where the vampires are at war with humans. The animation is excellent but good visuals doesn't make a good anime. It has a very good soundtrack. The battles(especially) and the story's need to get better. They have a pretty decent cast of characters and it can go far. The fact that there is a breed of vampires that feed on vampires, has really aroused my interest. I hope it does get better because I really want to like this series. This isn't the first series that had to grow on me, so I'm going to give this a chance. The dvd has 4 episodes with extras consisting of trailers. They also kind of jip you with the preview for the next episode. Oh well. I didnt care to much for these first episodes, others may enjoy it for whatever reasons. If you like anime then give this a try, it just might be for you.
a super-Vampire that drinks vampire blood.......2007-02-27
The setting is post-apocalyptic, the Vatican rules the survivors of the Human world. The dungeons of the inquisition are in full swing, they allude to it, though they haven't shown it in this Chapter.
An Empire of Vampires is the Evil fighting to claim the Earth and drink up what's left of Humanity.
The Vatican is ruled by a teenager, insecure in his position, his older sister sits on a thrown next to him. The usual plotting and intrigue is going on around them. After watching the first 4 episodes, I'm still not sure who the bad guys and good guys are supposed to be. Or perhaps, that's on purpose.
The main character, Father Nightroad is an enigma. He portrays himself in the beginning of the episodes as a naive, very blonde, traveling priest. He finds a damsel in distress and seems to be the hero, but there is also a perception of a cold and manipulative creature behind his blue eyes.
The landscape artwork is beautiful. The blood and guts scenes appear to be included, apologetically, like the artists feel obliged to put those scenes in.
I can honestly say this anime series is NOT mindless drivel. And I like the fact women can hold positions of Bishop, Cardinal, etc; in the church. They don't come out and say the Vatican is catholic, but one of the churches is named Saint Mathius.
It was interesting enough to keep me interested in the next Chapter.
Regards,
Lara
Trinity Blood= Ok but not great.......2007-02-26
I was expecting much from Trinity Blood when I first saw it on Adult Swim, but I was quite disappointed by some aspects of the show. First off, I would like to point out the negatives of this anime series. The art work is good, but sometimes I found myself scratching my eyes or cleaning my TV screen because some of the scenes were very very bright. Personally, I'm not a fan of very bright colored scenes, at least not in the way TB puts. It just bothered me to no end and made the experience of watching it...painful. Another negative is the story has some holes in it..sometimes I'm wondering what the heck they are talking about or why this is happening (why some vampires have these special powers...I guess they just do? Why are Kain and Abel fighting, etc Not much explanation, just some flashback scenes.) The characters are forgettable to say the least..I couldn't ever find myself relating to any of them! None were interesting or caught interest. The fight scenes weren't really all that exciting at all. On the plus side, the music is great... which is what I really liked about Trinity Blood. The intro song (Dress) and the outro song (Broken Wings) are definitely some of my favorites songs of any anime. Animation was pretty good, but like I said...bright scenes (if they wanted shiny it didn't work because it just looked white to me!)..BAHH! Voice acting (English) was bearable...but sometimes I was just eekk! In the end, this anime will probably grab your attention, but trust me once you see it once, you will probably never watch it again..easily forgettable. 3 stars for the music and some good animation.

Zulu Wars.......2006-01-15
Excellent ! The complete story in an entertaining documentary form. John Hurt's narration is the best. NT
Essential for Zulu War Enthusiasts!!.......2004-02-29
If you are a fan of the Zulu and Zulu Dawn movies, this is a DVD that you should own. Mind you, it is a documentary feature, but it is extremely well done. History buffs in general should love it. The production values are outstanding, the narration by John Hurt is excellent, and there are commentaries by Ian Knight, surely, for we Americans, the leading expert and writer on the Zulu Wars. The great majority of the trio of features consist of live action reproduction, brialliantly acted, and filmed on location in South Africa. I hesitated before buying this, as I had never caught it on the Learning or History channels, there were no extant reviews, and the packaging did not initially inspire confidence. However, my hunch paid off, and this outstanding little gem is worth every penny.

The US campaign, which began on February 19, 1945, was expected to last only a few days. Instead it claimed the lives of nearly 7,000 Marines and lasted for over a month. Transforming scenes from over 40 reels of combat footage into a timeless tribute for all veterans who fought during World War II, Iwo Jima: Red Blood/Black Sand brings the bloodiest battle in Marine Corps history to life. For the veterans who survived the ordeal, the memories are painful. In Iwo Jima: Red Blood/Black Sand, many talk for the first time about a battle that has haunted them for almost half a century.

For a B movie it's a 4.......2007-07-21
It's a B movie with an interesting take on the vampire myth and it's got Heather Thomas. If you go in with that in mind I think you'll really enjoy it. Just don't try to compare it to an A list movie.
ADDICTED TO BLOOD.......2006-01-16
One has to give credit for this movie's plot: vampirism is a viral infection, and once infected, one becomes bloodthirsty. However, the execution of the film doesn't really do anything with its plot. Andrew Stevens (THE FURY) stars as Owen Urban, a brilliant young maverick scientist who is working on creating powerful enzymes. Christopher Plummer is an infected scientific genius who runs a powerful company and he wants Stevens to help him find an antidote for the vampiric virus. Kim Coates is swarthy as always as a particularly gruesome vampire, who can't quite satiate his thirst. And then comes Heather Thomas (remember her from THE FALL GUY?), a sexy volunteer at the lab who finds herself infected when an inmate bites her leg. Thomas' performance as the infected titular character turns into a slutty bloodthirsty vixen and her performance is sooo bad, it's hilarious. Plummer should be ashamed of himself for doing this role. The movie also suffers from a very weak ending with no real resolution. Filmed in 1990, this loser spawned a 1997 sequel, but don't let that convince you this one's a winner.
hot.......2002-03-24
Heather thomas is hot, but how they got the title I dont know. Its rated r but it shouldn't be. Its a good movie to see if you like Heather

In this 1965 Herschell Gordon Lewis opus (the final installment of the infamous "blood trilogy"), impulsive painter Adam Sorg (Don Joseph) seems to have it all: a pretty girlfriend, an exclusive gig at the local gallery, and enough sales to live comfortably in his remote, beachfront home. But Sorg wants more. Considered a trendy painter with a poor sense for color, he longs for critical acceptance. He sees his chance when his girlfriend cuts her finger and drips blood onto a canvas. That's it! Blood is exactly the color his paintings were screaming for. Cutting his girlfriend's finger, or even his own, won't provide enough blood for his new masterpieces, though, and his desperate need for more and more blood can only lead to one thing: murder.
Despite the self-referential aspects of an artist who can only achieve true fame by using blood, Color Me Blood Red is more exploitation than art, with lingering close-ups of bloody intestines and the like. But what do you expect from Lewis? Joseph is surprisingly good as the painter with the "artistic temperament" in a movie that works better as camp than horror. --Andy Spletzer
Description
The newest trend in art is type O negative! When his girlfriend, Gigi, cuts her finger on a frame, maniacal artist Adam Sorg (Don Joseph) discovers a new shade of crimson that will make his artwork so special--human blood! Squeezing all he can out of his sliced-up fingers, Adam then stabs Gigi in the head, smears her face on a canvas and--voila--a macabre masterpiece is created. After his bloody new painting causes a sensation on the local art scene, a crazed Adam continues creating sanguine specialties by extracting art supplies from victims outside his beach house. It all goes bad, however, when he zeros in on April (Candi Conder) whose scarlet pigment he plans to remove with an axe.
Customer Reviews:
Interesting, but could be refined.......2005-05-01
This movie has a good story to it, but it could be improved. Besides the corny music(which is mostly just jazz and does not fit good into the scenes) and bad sound editing(too much echoing) this movie is pretty good. I watched this movie to see the gore, although I must admit, this movie did not had as much gore as I imagined. Given the few gore scenes(I recount about 5 gorey scenes), it was pretty devastating and heart-wrenching. However, this movie poses a lot of questions pertaining to the characters. The main character, Adam Sorg, seems to be provoked very easily, and as the box says that he kills people so he can use their blood as paint. Well there is one scene where one kill was completely unprovoked and, let's just say he made someone food for the fish, in which he wasted the blood he could've used, but it was a entertaining scene.
Overall, I enjoyed this movie, except that it was rather short and not enough action. There was too much useless and boring dialogue. Unless you are a H.G.L. fan or you just want to see some plain gore, this movie isn't really good for much else.
Where's the "blood red"?.......2004-05-26
In 1963 Herschell Gordon Lewis, an independent filmmaker best known for making limited release "cutie" pictures, changed forever the face of American cinema when he released "Blood Feast." This film, as low budget as you could possibly get, ushered in the era of the gore film. While it would be quite some time before Hollywood caught on to the fact that certain segments of the movie going public hungered for films containing nauseating scenes of explicit violence, H.G. Lewis took one look at the receipts for "Blood Feast" and decided he better quickly make another movie similar to this one. What followed was a series of gruesome zero budget shockers, films like "The Wizard of Gore," "A Taste of Blood," "2000 Maniacs," "Color Me Blood Red," and "The Gruesome Twosome." Lewis lensed the downright offensive "The Gore-Gore Girls" before retiring from the film business in 1972 in order to devote his time to join the advertising industry. It wasn't until 2002 that the director returned to form with "Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat," a movie which proved beyond a doubt that the Godfather of Gore still has what it takes to gross out an audience.
"Color Me Blood Red" is the story of a temperamental painter and his efforts to achieve success at any cost. And what a cost! When Adam Sorg (Gordon Oas-Heim) struggles to sell paintings at a local art gallery, he must decide how to change his methods. He stumbles on the perfect color when his girlfriend accidentally cuts her finger. Sorg smears the blood across the canvas and has an instant masterpiece-well, almost. It takes a few more pints drawn from his girlfriend as well as himself to complete the painting, but when it is finished it looks divine. The struggling artist rushes the canvas over to the gallery where the owner, a snooty art critic, and a wealthy patron all swoon and gush over this brilliant and daring objet d'art. Regrettably, by putting his body and soul into the work (literally, in one respect), Sorg cannot bring himself to sell the painting even though the figure offered for it is quite enormous. Even worse, he realizes he doesn't have enough blood to keep working, and in a H.G. Lewis film that can only mean one thing: bloody and graphic carnage must soon follow.
Did I mention Sorg killed his girlfriend to get that first painting finished? Sorry 'bout that. It's not enough, though, as the painter realizes he doesn't have enough sauce to complete future masterpieces. After burying his gal in the sand outside his lakeside property (it's not much more than a shack somewhere in Florida, but this is a cheap movie), Sorg homes in on a hapless couple that had the misfortune of lounging around outside the house. These scenes run excruciatingly long as the demented painter tools around the lake in a speedboat, harpooning the boyfriend and capturing the girl. Once inside the house, Sorg disembowels the young woman and collects her precious blood in what is probably the movie's most effective gore scene. The fun, however, does not stop there. The daughter of the wealthy patron who wanted to buy the first Sorg painting turns up at the house with a trio of friends. She stumbles over the painter standing outside his house, and he offers her a chance to pose for one of his creations. The girl is quite hesitant at first, but soon agrees to do it as her friends stay behind on the beach. While Sorg prepares to murder yet another victim, the friends discover the decaying remains of the artist's girlfriend and head to the house to investigate. A bloody showdown involving a shotgun effectively ends Adam Sorg's short career.
"Color Me Blood Red" is definitely a lesser Lewis horror film. While that might not be saying much-all of his films boast atrocious acting, horribly cheap production values, and pedestrian dialogue-the film fails to match the nauseating atrocities seen in "Blood Feast" and "2000 Maniacs." Moreover, it fails to stand up along side Lewis's later, more vicious films like "Wizard of Gore" and "The Gore-Gore Girls." "Color Me Blood Red" has little red in it, unfortunately, and in a Lewis movie that's a crime of epic proportions. After all, audiences aren't watching a film like this for the acting or the big name stars; they want to see stomach-churning gore. Except for the scene with the girl in the house, there isn't much worth mentioning here. You may get a few laughs out of the acting, especially Sorg's histrionic antics as the tormented artist, but overall this movie is a disappointment. If I had to pick one notable element of the film, it would have to be the two "beat" friends of the daughter of the wealthy patron. These two stumble around throwing out all sorts of hep cat lingo, act all "crazy," and generally make complete fools out of themselves. In fact, they're immensely annoying, so much so that they do stand out in a film largely populated by walking and talking mannequins.
The DVD contains a heap of extras, including a commentary track with Herschell Lewis and producer David Friedman, poster galleries, outtakes, trailers, and an introduction from Lewis regular Bill Kerwin warning you about the graphic nature of this film. The extras are better than the movie, sad to say, but Lewis completists will want to own this one along with all the rest. I felt a bit down in the dumps after watching "Color Me Blood Red" because it was my last Lewis gore film. I have now seen all of them, from "Blood Feast" to "Blood Feast 2." Hopefully, this director will make another film in the next year or two. If not, it's been a heck of a run.
Alright, little finger. Bleed for the big man........2004-01-02
1965's "Color Me Blood Red" is another slice of sickening cinema by H.G. Lewis, the Godfather of Gore. Released one year after "Two Thousand Maniacs," this film takes place on the sunny beaches of Sarasota, Florida. Actor Don Joseph stars as Adam Sorg, a blunt and frustrated artist who enjoys making rude comments toward any critic who analyzes his work. Although savvy collectors at Farsworth Galleries are anxious to purchase his abstract paintings, Adam indignantly refuses to sell them. Isolated in his studio, he has a great deal of trouble trying to concoct the best color scheme. Later, when his nagging girlfriend Gigi (Ellen Warner) cuts herself on a jutting canvas nail, Adam is instantly enamored at how blood emits the most brilliant shade of red. Immediately, he attempts to cover an entire canvas with his own hemoglobin; slicing open his hands with a razor blade, he feverishly smears his own bleeding digits onto a nude portrait, frantically squeezing the wounds before they clot. However, as he became dizzy and lightheaded, it doesn't take him long to realize that to finish his masterpiece, he would have to bleed himself dry. So, what does he do instead? As Gigi assails him with yet another tongue-lashing, Adam stabs her in the cranium with a palette knife! Then, in perhaps the most morbid example of artistic expression, he holds up Gigi's limp corpse and wipes her face on the picture, using her head as a giagantic brush! Eventually, his first ghastly painting is complete; we as an audience get to see it as a grisly representation of Adam's obsession with blood. When the critics at Farsworth Galleries see this work, they are instantly astounded and expect Adam to create more pieces with the same style. Buyers offer the upcoming artist up to $15,000. But, in an insane outburst, he downright refuses to sell the Red Painting. Over time, of course, the guilt relating to Gigi's death and the pressure to uphold his reputation drive him to the brink of madness.
In a fiendish manner, Adam continues his pattern of bleeding brushstrokes by killing any youth who vacations outside his beach house. At one point, he preys upon two unsuspecting swimmers; driving a motorboat, he stabs a young man in the chest with a harpoon, then grinds apart his flesh with the spinning propellers! The other victim was a woman; he has her tied against the wall with her intestines hanging out! Weeks later, a group of college students set up a picnic on Adam's cove. Like a crazed stalker, he lures a virginal girl named April (Candi Conder) into his studio, promising her the chance to be a model. I don't want to give the ending away, but let's just say that it includes sweet April in a pink bikini, a little bit of bondage, and a sharp axe!
While H.G. Lewis did have a disturbing concept behind "Color Me Blood Red," the film fell short overall. The outcome was predictable and the pacing was far too slow. The movie's grusome humor isn't as over-the-top when compared to "Two Thousand Maniacs" and "Wizard of Gore." Still, if you are a ravenous fan of Lewis's lurid legacy, this DVD is worth purchasing.
Not nearly as good as the first two, but..........2001-05-16
...you will want to pick this one up eventually. This is the least imaginitve of the Blood Trilogy, and it borrows shamelessly from Roger Corman's Bucket Of Blood, and has less gore than usual, but it is still an essential purchase for fans of this genre. The picture quality is very good overall, and the all important reds are very well rendered. The out takes offer nothing of interest, and the trailer is really lame, but the commentary is the best of the entire Blood Trilogy.
Color Me Blood Red (1966) d: Lewis, Herschell Gordon.......2001-04-20
The third installment of the collaborative effort of Herschell Gordon Lewis, and David F. Friedman's `blood trilogy' [The other two being Blood Feast (1963), and 2000 Maniacs (1964)]. The story is a partial rip-off from Roger Corman's Bucket of Blood (1959). Don Joseph stars as artist Adam Sorg, who begins to achieve critical and commercial success when he finds that blood supplies the perfect color to his impressionistic paintings. The gore isn't as heavy, and in-your-face as the other two films in the trilogy, though there are one or two scenes involving entrails and eye gouging. Fans of either director should be amazed to hear the commentary track, when Dave Friedman, and H.G. Lewis publicly make their peace, and Friedman apologizes to Lewis for his actions. An extra ten minutes of out-takes, mostly from the motorboat sequence have been added back into the film.

What Film.......2006-07-05
In my opinion the only part of this film worth seeing is the "authentic" display of Native American tribe life.
Starting Point!.......2005-12-04
Red Blood (2001)
Is this movie a classic? That's what Canyon Press Entertainment is calling this movie. They are the producer, distributor and writer for this Native film. This was their first full length feature. Canyon Press "produces and distributes feature films with distinctly American themes, usually pertaining to the West and Native American subjects."
"Red Blood" is about Native American comic Jimmy White Cloud. (David Midthunder) Jimmy is unknowingly given a notebook that belongs to some New York mobsters. Jimmy is being hunted down by the hit men for that "numbers" notebook, so he decides to head back to his rez somewhere in Arizona.
The rez is where Jimmy is in his element and the mobsters are not. Jimmy's grandfather (Lee White Star) is a medicine man with special powers. Jimmy also finds solace on his rez. He meets a rez snag in Sally Meets the Moon. (Victoria Regina) But will the mobsters follow him and take the rez?
This movie is a low budget film and it shows. The acting is not very creative and the writing is just plain bad. The positive scenes were of reservation life and some scenes of tribal politics that is probably unknown to the general public. The rez bar was a very accurate portrayal. But the gun toting natives are somewhat hilarious.
This film is a starter film. Hopefully Canyon Press will learn from the reviews of this film. As with a lot of low budget films there are some crossover jobs from acting to behind the scenes. I have to give Royce Gracie (Joey) some recognition for his special appearance. He is the five-time Ultimate Fighting Champion.
From the Founder of the All-Movie Guide.......2004-08-08
This is a grade-B, low-budget action flick. If you like films about Native Americans (as I do), then you may have the interest to wade through it, but otherwise look elsewhere for an action flick. Since I did watch it, you might as well have my comments: the lead actor and heroine are cool, and you get a liberal amount of enjoyment watching this band of reservation folk kick the tar out of the city slicker-mafia from NYC. I liked that. Just dont expect a lot more than that and you can enjoy this. I love Charles Bronson films, so this fits right in.

Amazing.......2005-12-26
Without giving too much away, a lot of events come into play in this volume. There are some startling casualties that stem from a jarring event that will change the current state of the world. And there is a budding romance that develops between two characters who were on opposing sides originally. With appearances by the mysterious Reiko and the appearance of the vicious Blattaria force- this volume is a must.
