1 out of 5 stars Terrible.......2007-08-31

I love a good western; unfortunately this one was hard to watch. It seemed like I was sitting through a high school play. I tried three times, hoping it would get better or perhaps interesting. It didn't. The only thing cool was the shots of Old Tucson.
Bad story. Bad acting. Bad movie. The reason I wrote this is to let anyone interested
Not to waist their time, there are so many more westerns that you could watch.

5 out of 5 stars The Decoy Scores 5 Stars in my Theater.......2007-08-07

Viewed with sweating palms and a sense of anticipation, we sat on the edge of our seats while watching The Decoy. I was pleasantly surprised at the professional level of acting, the beautiful Arizona settings and all over digital picture quality. I was most impressed by the acting of Jake McDaniel who plays the evil non-blinking villian 'Herb'. Jake embraces the villian's evil personna through brute strength without so much as batting an eye. He makes a convincing, frightening menace.
I would recommend this feature as it was exciting, entertaining, well written and well acted, a pleasure to all who saw it with me, we all throughly enjoyed The Decoy.

5 out of 5 stars A very good independent film.......2007-07-25

The Decoy is a good example of solid independent filmmaking. It has a compelling story, likable (and dislikable) characters, strong acting, and several memorable moments. It respects the western tradition without being outdated. I enjoyed the movie very much. The special features are also very worthwhile, giving enlightening and enjoyable insight into moviemaking at this level. I definitely think everyone should check it out.

2 out of 5 stars not worth to buy it!.......2006-09-28

I was very disappointed. this move is realy bad - bad actors, bad acted, bad story! it seems be maked by a private person with friends as "actors". there is no story, or I didn't find her... You always see this guys sitting in this bar an telling themself storys about their "sex-lifes" - and than you see this scenes. But these are bad too - realy, you won't see this gays naked... and you don't see very much! :-) Don`t buy it, there is no story, the guys are not very handsome and the acting is horror! Save your money, I better did it too!

1 out of 5 stars One of the worst I have ever seen........2004-07-28

Somebody's got to be kidding - this is the worst attempt at a movie I have ever seen. How it ever got produced is beyond me. The cast, (I can't bring myself to call them actors,) is uniformly atrocious. These people are either good friends of the producer or they paid him big bucks to cast them. It is inconceivable that any of them were cast after an audition. Technically, the cinematography and sound are so bad that it looks like somebody's first attempt at trying out their new video camera. The script is non-existent. There is no story, just a seemingly endless series of scenes between the untalented non-actors. There is no attempt whatsoever to tell a story or maintain any sense of continuity. I wish I could say something positive about this movie. Unfortunately there is nothing good to say. It's a total zero from start to finish,

4 out of 5 stars LITTLE TOUGH ON THIS ONE.......2004-06-22

After viewing this film I have to honestly say I now understand why so many gay films cast straight men for the gay roles. The acting in this movie was by far the worst I have ever scene, it was almost sickening at times. In spite of that, I am giving this film 4 stars because of other reasons. I like the storyline, it was well developed. I like the look of the actors, they are all stunningly beautiful. The erotic scenes were that, erotic, not pornographic, very tender, and very well done. So if you are expecting the next Tom Cruise to come out of this group of actors, you won't! However, the film merits review just the same. At the same time, I see potential in several of the actors in this film, hopefully they will continue to study film and acting and my advice, "become a part of the parts you play," as I felt all they did in this film was "play the part." I didn't feel they became a part of the film at all. I didn't see them molding the storyline to fit their personalities and that is what good acting is all about.

5 out of 5 stars A ANTHROPOLOGIST LOOKS AT RAF MOVIES.......2004-04-24

(...) The production company has released four films. The first in 2001 with "Traveling to Olympia". They followed with Murder in Portland", Gods of Olympia and the last one Revenge in Olympia. All of these movies take place in the Pacific Northwest with three of four in the state capital of Washington. Four films in three years is quite a feat from a independent production company. Are they of Hollywood quality, no but they are as good as any straight or gay low budget independent film company. And make no mistake these are low budget films. What make the concept work is that they are made for the DVD release. There is no pretense that these are going to a theatrical release. They release these productions on both the internet and lesbian and gay books stores. With the thousands of films released for distribution and after checking web sites, I only found a few bad reviews. And all of these reviews sounded the same. It seemed that the same person wrote all the comments. It also seemed that they all were the same type of person. Someone who with the power of the review can make a unfair statement in the community. I am guessing this is a person who never gets cruised at the bar and has had a hard time getting a date. So he goes back to his small apartment and takes it out on RAF. Everyone has the right to speak, it is some who speak with authority and others from picayune. I would expect that the first film was a learning experience for RAF. I thought the films got better and all had great stories. I learned something from each movie, the stories were original and historically correct. Remember no one made you spend the first 29.95, and if you did not like it why spend more for the other three. It seems you are not admitting you buy the movies not for the story but for the cute sex scenes. That is fine, I am sure the producers have that as part of their markenting plan.

5 out of 5 stars GOOD MOVIE, LOTS OF HISTORY IN IT.......2004-04-24

All three of RAF's films take place in Olympia, WA. I watched "Murder" first and then, in a single afternoon, the first two as well. Their formula varies little, and includes: unusually cute young men (at least one of whom is troubled, new in town, and/or needs help); a sex scene or two (in the context of loving partners); a variety of characters of all ages and persuasions (their apparent use of street people is reminiscent of Gus Van Sant); a healthy dose of sex-ed and gay politics; good music. It works. The stories are interesting (even touching), the characters are winning (often beautiful), and the endings are positive.

"Murder" centers around a young and extraordinarily handsome 'straight' cop (not credited by role so I don't know his name, malheureusement), who is recruited to investigate the killing of two gay men. To say he learns MUCH about the gay community he infiltrates would be rather a zenith in understatement. Suffice it to say, he is dedicated to his work and goes 'under cover' in more ways than one to solve the crime.

All the RAF films have plenty to offer if you just look beyond their low-budget parameters and drink in the actors, characters, stories, and message. I can't wait for the next one, along with the pleasure of a sweet, funny, character-driven movie in this age of macho, jingoistic nonsense.

I have piranhas and there was not a misfit piece of info in this entire documentory. Take it from a 13 year old piranha expert with three of his own, this is the best sorce for piranha info on all spieces.

3 out of 5 stars piranha's in the wild.......2001-04-02

basically this movie is a one hour documentary that looks like one of those shows you would see on the discovery channel or maybe in high school biology class. its not bad, but its not great. nothing suprised me in it. its scenes of the jungle while a narrator says something every few moments or so. if you think this video is something out of a horror film where the piranhas kill everything in sight then you will be disappointed. they only eat a catfish alive, everything else is already dead. if you own piranhas, like me, and can appreciate them, then buy this video. but if your just a regular person and want to see piranhas kill things then i wouldn't. the finish it up, this slow pace film is average and i think the producers got most of the footage by recording clips off the learning channel or maybe even animal planet with the crocodile hunter.

5 out of 5 stars An Awesome Movie.......2001-01-05

Well, I bought the DVD for this film, and it was great! Anacondas are the largest predators in the New Kingdom. Learn how the people of the Amazon are influenced by this giant. Learn the Anaconda's hunting habits and find out how on earth the Anaconda swallows a large bird with a beak over 3 and a half feet long! You won't regret buying this one, so take my word for it. Buy it NOW!

4 out of 5 stars Good Video, Piranha as seen in the wild.......2000-01-19

This video was pritty good.It shows Piranha as they are in Brazil. I found this video worth the money. There are a few dry spots when they are talking about other animals, like birds and such. If you are interested in learning more about Piranha, this video is for you. This video is only for the Piranha lovers who appriciate them, and respect them.

Strictly for kids, this 1999 live-action feature version of the popular cartoon series seems long even at 80 minutes. As a video, it's easier to take and appreciate for what works best in the story: the special effects. Matthew Broderick plays the security guard who is physically transformed into a multi-use cyborg with a zillion attachments, from stilts to helicopter blades to skis. A crimefighter in raincoat and fedora, and equipped with a nifty Gadgetmobile, the hero investigates the death of a man linked to the villainous Sanford Scolex (Rupert Everett). Scolex, who blames Gadget for having to wear a prosthetic hand, develops an evil robot twin of the good inspector, causing much mischief and giving Broderick an opportunity to poke fun at his own performance of the virtuous Inspector. The action is shaky, the script plods along, and the effects soon take over; Everett has to go to the extremes of hamminess just to be seen above it. But children of a certain age will almost certainly engage with the more clever stuff and forgive the rest. --Tom Keogh

2 out of 5 stars Bad Gadget. Bad Gadget........2007-09-10

Remember growing up and watching this oddly funny, inspirational show that dabbled in both the absurd, the diabolical, and the genius all at the same time. Don Adams of "Get Smart" fame wisely allowed his voice to be our uncanny hero, you know, the guy that couldn't save the day if his life depended on it, but thankfully had Penny and Brain there with him at all times to assist when needed. This was a part of my growing up, thinking that the Chief would, at any time, give me a self-destructing sheet of paper with my mission was always something I was dreaming for. Who else wanted to hold Penny's computer book for just one moment in our lives? Was I the only one hoping to one day catch a glimpse of Dr. Claw's face? If you are chanting "YES. YES. YES" along with me, then you are already aware of my feelings with Disney's debacle of a feature film presentation. Now, this isn't to say that there weren't elements that I found entertaining (gosh, am I saying this...), but overall this seemed to forget the foundation that it was built upon - even the perverse cameo at the end sent shivers up my spine. Where did the creators go wrong? Let's begin by saying that this was a concept, a cartoon, that Disney had no right placing their expensive hands into.

I was hooked at the beginning surprisingly. Why? I wanted to see the birth of Gadget and the reason why Claw and him were always pitted against each other. I wanted to see the creation of good and evil, but after twenty minutes, I saw Disney do what they do best. Matthew Broderick nervously steps into a role that he obviously wasn't ready for. He plays Gadget himself, a bumbling security cop who dreams of being a police officer. Due to Rupert Everett's whining and obvious lack of knowledge of who Dr. Claw is, the two find themselves crossing each others paths at a bio-technology lab where a new form of artificial intelligence is being designed. There is a pretty girl/scientist (played by Joely Fisher) whom John Brown (Broderick, pre-Gadget) pines for, but cannot win because he doesn't have the confidence to win her over. Well, we all know where this is headed next, and Disney lays it on thick as Broderick uses every torturous gadget in his disposal to eliminate ... not Dr. Claw, but a clone that is demolishing the city ... can he win? I can't give it away, though it would make you better film viewers if I just blurted the ending ... who would pay money for this plastic form of entertainment.

Alright, characters - there was no commentary on this film, so I only watched it once (thankfully!), but Broderick was the obvious stand out. He tried, I know I feel bad saying this, but he did try to bring some depth to this character. Gadget is a bumbling idiot - but he has a good heart. I thought Broderick was a good choice personality wise, but he never took Gadget to that next cinematic level. I wanted to have the foundation of the cartoon, but then grow into a feature film that had heart and dedication. In this mere 78 minute short film, there was nothing. So, on one side we have Gadget (Broderick doing his best), then on the other side we have the worst Hollywood idea ever - Rupert Everett as Dr. Claw. This was a hazard. This was Disney thinking they could take a enormously popular villain and give him a soul. This was Rupert needing to ham it up more than Broderick so that there was a share of the screen. There was no evil, there was no corruption, there was nothing that even faintly resembled the "Claw" that we grew up with. The henchman seemed more in tune than Everett. He wasn't funny, he wasn't sinister, he wasn't diabolical in any way. He was fluff, and that wasn't the Dr. Claw that I attempted to pay money to see. His portrayal was a disgrace to anyone that has ever even glanced at the cartoon. Arg, it makes me mad just to mention it in this review. Rupert Everett ruined Dr. Claw. Penny (Michelle Trachtenberg) seemed to follow the Everett style of "Gadet-ing", but not following her character at all. Shouldn't there have been a prerequisite to see the cartoon prior to making the film. Oh, filmmakers, how I shun thee.

I guess if one could literally pull themselves away from the hideous acting by Everett, the rest of the film just seemed raced and pushed. I was happy to see that it only lasted 78 minutes, and they did cover quite a bit of ground, but it just felt like they weren't willing to give the credit due to the cartoon. This was a cult cartoon, and to see Disney play for a younger audience, care nothing for the pre-existing older audience that grew up with Gadget, make jokes that seemed cliché, and bubble the bad guy. It was hard to watch. I was pleased with the script, the director tried to go dark with a really random Broderick attempting to play a darker, more fun character as Gadget's clone - but overall this film just lacked the spunk from the cartoon. I wanted animation, I wanted excitement, I wanted an adventure that would befuddle Adams himself, but instead I had a story that seemed like it would be in the dollar bin within the week of its release.

Overall, this film wasn't horrid. The story itself wasn't anything I could watch again, but their ability to not overextend the plot, made it for simple viewing. It was 78 minutes of filming that I didn't mind, but couldn't get myself to watch it again. I will forever hate Everett for what he did to Dr. Claw, I think Dr. Claw will forever hate Everett as well. His portrayal ruined this film. It knocked it to the ground with no opportunity to pick it up again. Broderick was watchable, but I don't think he was what this film needed. "Inspector Gadget" is a perfect example of what happens when Disney puts their hands into a project and is determined to ensure that children get laughs from semi-crass physical humor. This was a sad attempt of a film, but a part of me is happy that I watched it - now the cartoon seems better than ever!

4 out of 5 stars lots of comedy, a bit of crime.......2006-09-04

This movie was not as good as the second gadget movie. It was funny, and that was the best part. Claw was a very bad villian, so I was into that. I like villians.

The first time that I wanted to rent it at blockbuster, my Dad thought that it may be inappropriate. Then he changed his mind. We watched it together, and like it very much. It was so good that I know own it on DVD.

5 out of 5 stars Go-Go Gadget Whatever.......2005-12-12

Matthew Broderick was a wonderful Inspector Gadget,I would love to have this on DVD,I have it on VHS. I want to see the music video of I'll be you're everything by Youngstown. Michelle Trachenburg was a wonderful Penny.

3 out of 5 stars Great Cast Wasted In A So-So Movie!.......2005-10-18

I liked the Inspector Gadget cartoon so when I heard they made it into a live-action movie I went to a movie theater to see it and despite having a great cast that includes Matthew Broadrick, Michelle Trachtenberg, Joely Fisher, etc, the plot of this movie was kind of rushed and uneven and just disappointing!
