How does Spider-Man 3 follow on the heels of its predecessor, which was widely considered the best superhero movie ever? For starters, you pick up the loose threads from that movie, then add some key elements of the Spidey comic-book mythos (including fan-favorite villain Venom), the black costume, and the characters of Gwen Stacy and her police-captain father. In the beginning, things have never looked better for Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire): He's doing well in school; his alter ego, Spider-Man, is loved and respected around New York City. And his girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst), has just taken a starring role in a Broadway musical. But nothing good can last for Spidey. Mary Jane's career quickly goes downhill; she's bothered by Peter's attractive new classmate, Gwen Stacy (Bryce Dallas Howard); and the new Daily Bugle photographer, Eddie Brock (Topher Grace), is trying to steal his thunder. Enter a new villain, the Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), who can transform his body into various forms and shapes of sand and who may be connected to Peter's past in an unexpected way. There's also the son of an old villain, Harry Osborne (James Franco), who unmasked Spidey in the previous movie and still has revenge on his mind. And a new black costume seems to boost Spidey's powers, but transforms mild-mannered Peter into a mean and obnoxious boor (Maguire has some fun here).

If that sounds like a lot to pack into one 140-minute movie, it is. While director Sam Raimi keeps things flowing, assisted on the screenplay by his brother Ivan and Alvin Sargent, there's a little too much going on, and it's inevitable that one of the villains (there are three or four, depending on how you count) gets significantly short-changed. Still, the cast is excellent, the effects are fantastic, and the action is fast and furious. Even if Spider-Man 3 isn't the match of Spider-Man 2, it's a worthy addition to the megamillion-dollar franchise. --David Horiuchi

Great film, but............2007-09-13

Spider-Man 3 was a great comic book film no matter what you think. Spider-Man 2 is still the reigning king of comic book to film adaptations but you've gotta give cred to Raimi and crew for this third installment. The introduction of Venom was long awaited but one of the flaws with this movie was the fact that Sandman really didn't fit into the movie. Sandman, in my opinion, was there for the sympathetic factor and just to add another villain because Venom didn't come around until the end of the movie(total drag!). Venom should've been around a lot longer in the film. The emotion and human-touch was there but a few scenes were alittle questionable, such as the Peter Parker jazz dance among other things. The action was top notch and the effects were as great as ever. Danny Elfman's score, or I think Chris Young did this film, was also a great listen.Overall, It was satisfying. I'm a huge Spider-Man fan and the movies do more than justify the comics, they honor them. It's great to see great comic book heroes made into movies and you've gotta thank Spidey

ok so get this ,first off ima comic book fan so heading to the theatre i already have high hopes but low expectations 15 minutes into this atrocity i was pissed and as the movie progressed i slowly but surely found myself becoming more and more angry, i know people liked this one but try as i might i just dont get why, it was horribly put together too much singing too much dancing too much crying (wow this has quickly become a rant) every time i run into someone who says they liked it i cant get my brain to accept that i honestly think their messin w/ me and i follow them pointing out why i hated that tripe shortly after i have to have a smoke

The sad facts: 1 too many villains, 2 Tobey Maguire's dark side was comical, 4 what happened to the magic from the second film? 5 The ending sucked so hard the devil wept, 6 came real close to Batman 4, the bad out way the good.

A SUPERB CONCLUSION TO A WONDERFUL SERIES.......2007-09-06

I don't know what film others saw, but the one I saw four times is at least as good as the previous two in the series, and a very satisfying wrap up to the entire trilogy story line. No Action? Hunh? It has just as much edge-of-your-seat action as you could hope for. Too many villians? That's just plain stupid (especially considering how one of the "villians" is redeemed.) In fact, as best as I can determine, folks who voice disatisfaction in this film do so because it is truly a story of redemption and forgiveness, and apparently people would have preferred murder and mayhem (there's plenty of that out there, so if that's what you want, then I agree that Spidey 3 isn't for thee.) And with regard to the person who said that this film was all about "revenge" getting "shoved in our faces" -- well, actually it's about the "danger of revenge" and turns the table on that attitude in a great conclusion that brings tears to your eyes (or ought to, anyway.) I've never bothered to write a review before, but it really has gotten under my skin how many critical pans this film has received that are just plain senseless and, frankly, ignorant. Let this set the record straight. Watch all three together and you've got one great story set: 1, 2 AND 3 -- without exception.

Far better than Spider-Man 2.......2007-09-06

I hated Spider-Man 2 for the simple reason that it had way, way too much of Peter Parker whining about how screwed up his life was. It didn't show enough of how his life was being screwed up.

First rule of movie making - Show, don't tell. It's a visual medium for crying out loud. Plus numerous continuity errors (Pete doesn't have enough money to go see MJ perform so she gives him tickets. He gets kicked out but later goes to see her anyway... so how did he get the money for those tickets?) drag down Spider-Man 2.

Spider-Man 3 fixes all the problems I had with Spider-Man 2.

I grew up on the Silver Age Comics (60s) of the heroes with high ideals and teams. My favorite group was the Legion of Superheroes. This movie reminded me so much of the Legion. It is a great clean movie that mom and dad can sit down and watch with the kids without embarrassment! No cursing, no nudity, no blood.....and a great story. Wow!! How long has it been since you could put all four of those ideas into one movie? Gather the family for some feel-good movie viewing.

It's good to see Kurt Russell back in a Disney movie again. The story centers around a Super Hero Mom and Dad who send their son off to a special secret Super Hero school in the sky. The usual "high school" high jinks occur in this family friendly comedy with some new interesting twist. Lynda Carter has a small amusing role at "Sky High".

PLOT DETAILS FOLLOW

Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) is the son of the world's two most famous superheroes, The Commander aka Steve Stronghold (Kurt Russell) and Jetstream aka Josie Stronghold (Kelly Preston). In a world where superheroes are an everyday part of life, their children attend Sky High, a private secondary school built on an anti-gravity platform far above the surface of the Earth, accessible only by a flying school bus piloted/diiven by Kevin Heffernan (THE KING OF QUEENS) and run by Principal Powers (Lynda Carter of WONDER WOMAN).

As part of the first day Freshman rituals, the new students are expected to demonstrate their super powers in front of the rest of the class. Graded by Coach Boomer, the retired superhero Sonic Boom, students are either classified as Heroes or Sidekicks; it is the Sidekicks who become the pariahs in the pecking order due to their weak or offbeat, or impractical powers (one boy glows bright yellow, one girl can shapeshift only into a guinea pig, Will's best friend, Layla (Danielle Panabaker) refuses to demonstrate her powers for ethical reasons, and Will shows no sign of super powers at all).

Fortunately for Will, the prettiest and most popular girl in school, Gwen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), takes a shine to him. A Technopath, she can build anything out of anything, and helps him in Chemistry Class and with such projects as his ray gun. Will is soon smitten with her. Because of this "in" with the In Crowd, Will's confidence soars, and he soon begins to develop Super Strength and the ability to fly. Transferred from the Sidekick classes to the Hero classes, Will starts ignoring his friends, particularly the secretly-in-love-with-him Layla, who is heartbroken.

To needle Will, she begins hanging out with Warren Peace, the son of a mixed marriage (Mom's a Superhero, Dad's a Supervillain put in jail by Will's parents); Warren himself is a dour Gothic kid who can shoot fireballs from the palms of his hands.

Holy Pep Rally! It soon turns out that Gwen is not quite so nice as she seems. The Prom becomes a revenge fest, in which Will and Warren, backed by the Sidekicks, on one side, and Gwen (aka Major Pain) engage in a titanic battle between Good and Evil. The ending is a foregone conclusion in a movie like this, but let's face it, he couldn't have done it without them.

Looking at it coldly, SKY HIGH should have been a bomb, but it isn't, successfully blending the usual acne-angst elements of a Teen Movie (including the obligatory housewrecking party), with one-off Comic Book Characters. The result is light and entertaining, and rarely misses a beat.

Kurt Russell is wonderfully goofy as Dad Stronghold, both battling evil and sneaking Will down into the Secret Sanctum for a game of pinball---"Don't tell your mother, she's still mad at me for dropping that battleship on her foot" kind of dialogue is his stock-in-trade; as Mom, Kelly Preston gets just not enough time in her skintight Jetstream outfit to be truly satisfying on camera in her smallish role; Angarano is just teenage dorky enough as Will, but not so dorky that his transformation is unbelievable; Mary Elizabeth Winstead is just the sweetest thing in a skirt until she isn't anymore.

Danielle Pannabaker is the great surprise in SKY HIGH. Alternately shy and retiring, and calm and full of certitude, she imbues Layla with a kind of dignity none of the other characters have. When she finally uses her powers, they are entirely in character for her and yet unusual, a true expression of Female Power at its best.

A THREE-AND-A-HALF-STAR effort, SKY HIGH is good family fun fare.

The 2005 superhero family fantasy "Sky High" is about a boy named Will Stronghold (Michael Angarano) whose parents, Steve & Josie Stronghold (Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston respectively), are famous superheroes named "The Commander" and "Jetstream". Steve ("The Commander") has super-strength and Josie ("Jetstream") can fly. Naturally, Steve & Josie believe that their son Will will grow up to be a superhero, so they enroll him in the exclusive superhero high school called "Sky High", so named because it floats several thousand feet in the air thanks to an anti-gravity device. When new students (freshmen) arrive at Sky High, they are separated into one of two groups: heroes or sidekicks. A hero has a real superpower, whereas a sidekick may have a power, but not something powerful. The man responsible for determining which kids are heroes and which are sidekicks is Coach Boomer (Bruce Campbell, who may be remembered for portraying Elvis Presley in the 2002 film "Bubba Ho-tep", as well as his roles in the various "Evil Dead" films). Upon arrival, the new freshmen are met by Sky High's principal, Principal Powers (Lynda Carter, best known for portraying Wonder Woman in the 1970's TV series of the same name), before being tested by Coach Boomer. The determination of whether a child is a hero or a sidekick determines not only what classes they attend, but also their social status: sidekicks are generally not socially accepted by the heroes. Hence, when Will cannot initially demonstrate any superhero powers, he is designated as a sidekick along with most of the new students who rode to Sky High with him in the flying school bus driven by Ron Wilson (Kevin Heffernan). Of course, Steve & Josie aren't particularly happy that their son may only be a sidekick, but Will may only be a late bloomer, as he demonstrates when he gets into a fight with another student, the flame-throwing Warren Peace (Steven Strait), in the school's cafeteria. Once it becomes apparent that Will is a hero and not a sidekick, he's moved from the sidekick classes to the hero classes where he gets to spend time with the beautiful senior named Gwen Grayson (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), who may be more than she appears. Will tries to continue to be friends with his former fellow-sidekicks, including his very dear friend Layla Williams (Danielle Panabaker), but Gwen and her friends want to separate Will from them. As the film progresses, the stage is set for a climatic ending.

With good special effects, good acting, an interesting story and good direction (under Mike Mitchell), the family-friendly "Sky High" is a very entertaining film for young & old alike. Those familiar with the Harry Potter stories written by J.K. Rowling may find some similarities between Sky High high school where students are separated and Hogwartz with its separation of students into four houses. However, whereas Hogwartz separates children based upon personality traits, Sky High separates students based upon abilities. Overall, I rate "Sky High" with a well-deserved 4 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it.

Another wonderful Bruce Clone movie with Enter the Dragon music, the Miami Vice theme, and some great voice dubbing, escpecially the dubbing job for the white guys:)

So the movie is about a samurai sword that I guess has been split apart and people are after it. Yeah, kind of hard to stay awake during this one. But the fighting is pretty good! This must haev been Bruce "Le's" masterpiece because he certainly put all that he physically has into the performance. But he is a slightly better director than Bruce Li. Yeah, not sayign a whole hell of a lot. Here's a line from the movie "you must trust me, becasue you have to". Judge for yourself.

So finally we get a glipse of Bolo playing the bull killer. Becasue can he kills bulls, no shlt. Then there is a treasure hunt, here's what I fastforwarded through. A guy with a sword fighting a guy with no sword, sucked. A girl beating up 3 other girlspretty funny. And then Bolo fights. Short, but pretty good. And the final fight is almost good. All in all, I can almost recommend this.

Picture is full screened and sound is decennt.

THIS IS ANOTHER ONE OF THE BEST BRUCEPLOITATION FLICKS THAT YOU'LL EVER SEE. AFTER A WOMAN IS MURDERED, HER BROTHER [BRUCE LE] COMES TO MANILA TO AVENGE HIS SISTER'S DEATH. HAS VERY GOOD FIGHTS. THIS MOVIE SHOULDN'T DISSAPOINT MARTIAL ARTS FANS. THE MOVIE RIPS OFF THE THEME SONG TO ''ENTER THE DRAGON''. THIS IS A GREAT MOVIE, AND I FEEL THIS MOVIE SHOULD BE OWNED BY EVERY MARTIAL ARTS FAN OUT THERE. IT'S EVEN AT A CHEAP PRICE NOW, WHICH SHOULD GIVE YOU ANOTHER REASON TO BUY THIS MOVIE. KUNG FU CLASSIC!.......2003-10-18

Bruce returns to Hong Kong when his father is mudered. Then his mother is attacked by the black dragon society. Bruce sets out to destroy the society with only his bare hands. Also look out for "The Legend of Bruce Lee". Don't get Tai Seng's release coz it's not the same film and Bruce Lee isn't even in it. Be sure to get Bruce The Super Hero
