The latest entry in the Harry Potter saga could be retitled Fast Times at Hogwarts, where finding a date to the winter ball is nearly as terrifying as worrying about Lord Voldemort's return. Thus, the young wizards' entry into puberty (and discovery of the opposite sex) opens up a rich mining field to balance out the dark content in the fourth movie (and the stories are only going to get darker). Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) handily takes the directing reins and eases his young cast through awkward growth spurts into true young actors. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe, more sure of himself) has his first girl crush on fellow student Cho Chang (Katie Leung), and has his first big fight with best bud Ron (Rupert Grint). Meanwhile, Ron's underlying romantic tension with Hermione (Emma Watson) comes to a head over the winter ball, and when she makes one of those girl-into-woman Cinderella entrances, the boys' reactions indicate they've all crossed a threshold.
But don't worry, there's plenty of wizardry and action in Goblet of Fire. When the deadly Triwizard Tournament is hosted by Hogwarts, Harry finds his name mysteriously submitted (and chosen) to compete against wizards from two neighboring academies, as well as another Hogwarts student. The competition scenes are magnificently shot, with much-improved CGI effects (particularly the underwater challenge). And the climactic confrontation with Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes, in a brilliant bit of casting) is the most thrilling yet. Goblet, the first installment to get a PG-13 rating, contains some violence as well as disturbing images for kids and some barely shrouded references at sexual awakening (Harry's bath scene in particular). The 2 1/2-hour film, lean considering it came from a 734-page book, trims out subplots about house-elves (they're not missed) and gives little screen time to the standard crew of the other Potter films, but adds in more of Britain's finest actors to the cast, such as Brendan Gleeson as Mad-Eye Moody and Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter. Michael Gambon, in his second round as Professor Dumbledore, still hasn't brought audiences around to his interpretation of the role he took over after Richard Harris died, but it's a small smudge in an otherwise spotless adaptation. --Ellen A. Kim

When Harry Potter's name emerges from the Goblet of Fire, he becomes a competitor in a grueling battle for glory among three wizarding schools - the Triwizard Tournament. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Two-Disc Special Edition).......2007-09-13
When this movie was first released on DVD, I ended up with the single-disk edition. The two disk edition has great special features including "makings of" and behind the scenes, as well as deleted scenes. The "games" are difficult and challenging for any age level. This two-disk edition is well worth a couple of dollars extra over the single-disk edition!
Wide screen version is very DARK on non-HD TV.......2007-09-11
This movie is great, however, the picture is extremely dark on the widescreen version. It might be better viewed on a High-def television. Otherwise, I would choose the version that is formatted for regular tv.
Great book, great movie.......2007-09-10
I love the movie, just like I loved the book. The only small problem I have is with the actor who plays Dumbledore. He just doesn't fit the mental image I have for him. Other then that, I highly recommend it for people that have never seen the movie.
Harry Potter & Goblet of Fire (4).......2007-09-08
This one as all other's keeps you watching and waiting for what is next to come. If you haven't seen this one please see it. You are missing a wonderful set of movies and books if you don't enjoy these. Mine will be handed down to my grand children to enjoy over the years. I'm waiting for the other books to come out in movies and I'll buy those too. Then I'll have the complete set of books and movies to read and watch over and over.
The Book Is Better.......2007-09-07
if you read the book, you will hate this movie. the books has several, strong story lines. the movie had to be condensed so much so, that it was completely obvious what was cut out, and what wasn't.
go to the wikipedia website, and you can see a comparision of both the book and the movie.
the movie as a piece of art sucked as well. in the first half an hour, i honestly couldn't keep my eyes straight. everything was so fast, that you didn't see the characters faces for more than a second. it was also very choppy. take a look at the scene where ron and hermione are mad at each other during the yule ball. right after that they are walking out of the ball room, without harry. that 2 minutes of film is so incredibly choppy, you know somehting was cut out.
the deleted scenes don't help either. even if you burned the movie together, you'll still be lost.
for those who didn't read the book, you may like this as a movie. but honestly, there wasn't enough to hold your interest, except the scenes with mad eye moody. i though dumbldore couldn't get any worse than movie 3 - i was wrong. this guy is awful. he obviously didn't read the book either.
i have this dvd because i am a harry potter nut, and needed it in my collection. i didn't buy it though, until movie 5 came out in theatres just so i could compare them.

On the DVD
The highlight of the two-disc set is a half-hour conversation with actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. They discuss their reactions to the film and other topics with British writer Richard Curtis . Then they answer questions from contest-winning fans, such as what are their favorite kids' books (Watson bypasses the obvious answer in favor of Roald Dahl and Philip Pullman) and what scenes are they looking forward to in upcoming films. More routine extras include the "Reflections on the Fourth Film" featurette (14 min.), though it has comments from some of the other young cast members, and "Preparing for the Yule Ball" (9 min.). The 10 minutes of additional scenes are mostly skulking and skullduggery, plus a long musical number from the ball. The remaining material is grouped along the lines of the Triwizard Tournament, with behind-the-scenes looks at each of the competitions (about 22 min. total), two longer featurettes on He Who Must Not Be Named (11 min.) and the workday of the other contestants (Robert Pattinson, Stanislav Ianevski, and Clémence Poésy, 13 min.), and four games, playable with the directional arrows on the remote control, that can be frustrating to figure out. --David Horiuchi

The excellent Foyle's War returns with four episodes (each on its own disc) that first appeared on television in 2006 and '07. As before, the show's "history meets mystery" tagline pretty much sums it up, as Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle solves murders and various other heinous crimes in and around bucolic Hastings, England, while World War II rages on at home and abroad. "Invasion," the first episode, marks the arrival of American forces in 1942, not long after Pearl Harbor. Not all the locals are thrilled to see them; disparaging remarks about the G.I.s showing up "late" are common, and many a stiff upper lip curls at the Yanks' brash, boisterous behavior. Thus when a Hastings barmaid turns up strangled at a dance arranged by the Americans to get to know their hosts, fingers are quickly pointed at the "invaders." But Foyle and his assistants, Sgt. Paul Milner (Anthony Howell) and driver Samantha "Sam" Stewart (the delightfully named Honeysuckle Weeks), have other suspects, and the detective, who comes on a bit like Columbo without the trench coat and other idiosyncrasies, manages to sort through them while somehow keeping the Brit-Yank enmity from festering and dealing with the deadly effects of the illegal "hooch" the barmaid and her employer were brewing.
This balance of deftly intertwined elements typifies a series in which each installment is essentially a 90-minute movie; in "Bad Blood," murder, romance both illicit and international, and the appalling specter of Britain's experiments with biological weapons like anthrax are all on the bill, while gambling, sabotage, personal tragedy, and yet more murder feature in "Bleak Midwinter" and "Casualties of War." The mysteries aren't especially confounding; what the quietly persistent Foyle does is less interesting than how he does it. And while it's set in wartime, the war and its impact on the English (who endure the death and injuries visited upon their young men, along with shortages of gas, electricity, and such) is more often a backdrop than a central focus. Each disc includes a several pages of often fascinating text about the "historical truth" behind a given episode, while other bonus features include cast filmographies and a brief "making of" documentary on disc 1. All in all, while it may not appeal to fans of the fast-paced, effects-laden cop procedurals popular on American TV, Foyle's War is a classy production, well written (by creator Anthony Horowitz), nicely photographed, and well worth the investment of both time and money. --Sam Graham
Description
History meets mystery in this award-winning PBS series, with four all-new feature-length episodes set at the height of World War II. Michael Kitchen (Out of Africa) returns as the laconic Christopher Foyle, detective chief superintendent in the English town of Hastings. War has torn the social fabric of this once-quiet coastal community, and Foyle's investigations explore the violence and opportunism that the conflict has fostered on the home front.
Also starring Anthony Howell and Honeysuckle Weeks, and featuring Kenneth Colley, Dermot Crowley, Liz Fraser, Philip Jackson, Michael Jayston, Corey Johnson, Jonah Lotan, and Roy Marsden.
THE MYSTERIES
INVASION -- As the first American GIs arrive to build an airbase near Hastings, the murder of a barmaid further strains already-tense relations between the locals and the Yanks.
BAD BLOOD -- A top-secret experiment in biological warfare goes horribly wrong, complicating a murder investigation and threatening the life of Foyle's faithful driver, Sam.
BLEAK MIDWINTER -- The death of a young munitions worker and the murder of Paul Milner's wife seem linked, and Foyle strives to clear his sergeant from suspicion.
CASUALTIES OF WAR -- While investigating gambling and sabotage, Foyle takes in his troubled goddaughter and her severely traumatized son, who refuses to speak.
DVD SPECIAL FEATURES INCLUDE making-of documentary, production notes, the historical truth behind each episode, and cast filmographies.

Foyle's War.......2007-09-12
The DVD recordings were in fine condition, and this is a fine program series. We are delighted with our purchase in every way.
Exceptional Historical Drama.......2007-09-07
THe Foyle's War Series gets better each season. In Set 4, Michael Kitchen returns as the soft-spoken and highly observant Christopher Foyle. He solves mysteries set against the backdrop of WWII. History comes alive again this season with the American soldiers stationed nearby, the murder of Milner's wife, espionage and treason.
More Kudus for Foyle.......2007-08-31
An excellent continuation of War Time criminal investigation in Hastings. As we have come to expect, we have the brilliant, deductive mind of Christopher Foyle, coming up against not only criminals, but also dull witted, self-important supervisors. Tales, well told.
Drama and Mystry on the home front.......2007-08-29
The fourth set in this series, Foyle's War provides an excellent mystery drama with good acting and story line. The world war left the homeland ripe with opportunity for crime and in this series, Foyle is determined to solve each case. His driver Sam add's some excellent acting. This is good family entertainment and will draw most into the time period unlike present times.
Foyle's War - WW2 Mystery.......2007-08-28
Foyle's war has become a favorite with my wife and I. Set four is everything we had hoped for in this series. Anthony Horowitz has created mystery stories that are interesting and believable. Michael Kitchen, Anthony Howell and Honeysuckle Weeks bring the characters to life.
The effort to create war time England in the coastal community are done well and photographed beautifully. We look forward to Set five.

The arrival of another gorgeous young woman with the initials of LL further complicates Clark Kent's (Tom Welling) life in the fourth season of Smallville, the WB's hip and sexy reinvention of the Superman legend. In this case, it's Lois Lane (Erica Durance), a would-be college freshman who's come to the Kansas heartland to investigate the disappearance of her cousin, Chloe. What she discovers instead is a naked, amnesiac Clark Kent in a cornfield, and things take off from there. Durance doesn't appear in every episode--she was credited as a "special guest star"--but her tough spirit and crackling wit provide a great, non-romantic foil to Clark.
That's just as well, because there's plenty of romantic triangulation--or worse--going on. Clark's former love interest--and his first LL--Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk), has returned from her summer in Paris sporting a new boyfriend, Jason Teague (Jensen Ackles), as well as a mysterious tattoo that seems to have something to do with a set of Kryptonian crystals as well as Jason's sinister mom, Genevieve (Jane Seymour). Keeping his relationship with Lana a secret, Jason has signed on as Smallville High's new assistant football coach. What's surprising is that the team's new quarterback is none other than Clark, who's grown tired of hiding his super-strength, super-speed, and invulnerability and wants to be part of the team. But nothing's easy for Clark, and he goes through the prom, a marriage, and fatherhood, not necessarily in that order, as well as his secret being discovered, unknown to him, by one of his closest friends. (On the plus side, he does uncover a cool new power.)
But the key to the season is the Kryptonian crystals. They further deteriorate the relationship between the incarcerated Lionel Luthor (John Glover), and his son, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum). Lex may be Clark's best friend, but he reveals more of his dark side in a revelation about his sexual escapades and a split-personality (literally) incident. Lana's frightening dreams actually come to life in a silly Charmed-type episode. Then in the explosive season finale, the main characters are scattered and another meteor shower threatens to wipe out the town.
One of the fun things about Smallville is how producers Al Gough and Miles Millar and their team of writers acknowledge their place in a 70-year Superman mythos (even if Clark is never referred to as Superman). His DC Comics origins receive a nod with appearances by the Flash, Krypto the superdog, and the magical Mxyztplk. And the cast includes not only regular Annette O'Toole (Martha Clark), who had played Lana Lang in Superman III, but guest shots by Margot Kidder (Bridgette Porter) and Terence Stamp (the voice of Jor-El), and the late Christopher Reeve gets a brief but touching farewell in an announcement of the passing of his character, Dr. Virgil Swann.
Extras include 15 minutes with the writing team, a spotlight on Kidder, Durance, and others who have played Lois Lane, deleted scenes, and three episodes with commentary from combinations of Gough, Millar, Durance, Kreuk, Glover and others, but not Welling. --David Horiuchi

The thrilling reinterpretation of the Superman legend evolves in Season 4, whose 22 episodes include the quest for 3 Kryptonian crystals and Clark's bold attempt to keep those mysterious stones from destroying Earth. The calling awaits Clark an awakening to a destiny that only he can accept and fulfill.

Customer Reviews:
Still Fun, But Not The Best Season.......2007-09-04
Out of the five seasons, this is probably the weakest, but that doesn't mean this isn't good either. This season offered an original idea to the Superman mythology, black kryptonite! There are some other really interesting plots and twists in this season that are really enjoyable. Season four is mainly known for the debut of Lois Lane which I think was pulled off perfected and definitely made a memorable entrance. I agree that the worst part of the season was the whole "Charmed" Lana is a witch story. It was just kind of silly, especially when she started doing martial arts in China. The coolest part, however, was Margot Kidder making her appearance in the series which was awesome since Christopher Reeve had appeared prior. Overall, a pretty good season that I give four stars to just because there is a lot that I enjoyed, but not as much as the other seasons.
Great fun for the family!.......2007-08-14
Though I'm not a huge fan of Smallville, my family is, especially my son. Got this for his birthday and he locked himself away for a week with his cousins to watch it! Less rampaging through the house, lol!
Smallville - Season 4 - Better than Ever.......2007-08-14
The writing and acting are only getting better. The hunt for the "elements" is the driving force behind season 4. Jane Seymour and Jason Teague join the lineup as mother and daughter.
excellent...just ordered season 5 - can wait!
Love this series........2007-08-14
I have all five seasons thats out and cant wait till season six comes out next month. I already have mine pre-ordered. All I can say is watch it! You have to be just a little in love with comic book type movies like Spiderman, Xmen and Fantastic 4. Im not saying you have to be a die hard fan of comics or Superman but you gotta at least like this kinda genre. There are some episodes that will make you go "Wow thats just crap." Because they are kinda slow and not really telling you anything or progressing in the story line. You have to bite your lip through those episodes which are few and far between. Season 1 and season 5 I think are the two best. Seasons 2-4 are good but there really just filler I think. Season 1 has some of the cool abilities come to life and also lets you get to know everyone in Smallville. Season 2-4 gets you more and I believe all of his abilities out in the open. (could be wrong on that) New Good Guys and Villains galore! Now Season 5 heats up and has some really good last few episodes that will have you kicking the tv for more! I threw my remote across the room because of how that season ends. All I can say is Cliff Hanger!!!!!! All in all Im bias because I just really fell in love with this TV Series. Im a huge comic fan so like I said Im kinda bias. Worth it? HECK FREAKING YES AND THEN SOME WITH EXTRA EXTRA SOME!!
Last Best Season.......2007-07-16
Season 4 is awesome, there is more sex, drugs, and rock n roll then the other ones, it has more high tempo episodes, which this is my favorite season, season 3 was awesome but season 4 is better. Season 5 is a big let down. In season 4 Clark gets married, gets Lana back, loses his dad to save Lana. But also which is awesome is Lana Lang in the Superman Movies with Christopher Reeve, Lana Lang is played by the same actress who plays Clark's mom, Martha Kent.

Perhaps neither man is what he seems to be as director Fred Zinnemann (The Day of the Jackal) guides a searing Act of Violence, "the first postwar noir to take a challenging look at the ethics of men in combat" (Eddie Muller, Dark City: The Lost World of Film Noir). Murder lives on Mystery Street. John Sturges (The Great Escape) directs a revealing-for-the-era procedural about a Boston cop (Ricardo Montalban) solving a whodunit with the help of a Harvard forsensic expert (Bruce Bennett). Welcome to CSI Noir.

Customer Reviews:
Very disappointed.......2007-09-06
Very disappointed in my purchase. The packaging was not as shown on the web site. Disks were not in a organizer as shown on the web site but in cheep protectors and thrown randomly in a red box. After some organizing, found two (?) disks were missing. Site says it is a 45 disk set, but received only 42. When vendor notified of missing disks, two replacement disks were sent and one was wrong. Still waiting for correct disks. Both had different labels and ISRC numbers from the "collectors" set. The set also did not contain the pamphlet that is shown on the web site. This can not be considered collectors set.
excellent purchase but crummy packaging .......2007-09-01
My only gripe with this purchase is the packaging. It looks nice and as previously stated - the box is attractive and the folding organization looks good.. but the actual folders that hold the $200 DVDs is really cheap and does nothing to protect this investment, which to me seems unacceptable from a $200 purchase.
So we went to Target and bought a dvd binder with zip closure to hold all the discs with the protection I expected from my $200 purchase. So. when you buy this... get something else to protect the dvds. This is kind of too bad because the box it comes in looks so nice on display, but it's empty and useless and I can't throw it away.
I love this TV show and otherwise I am very pleased with the investment. I couldn't even take off a star for the poor packaging.
Television at its best, in a compact, affordable set........2007-08-20
It took me 8 months to collect every season of the West Wing. Here it is, accessible in one tidy package.
Viewing the DVDs gives you the opportunity to catch what you have missed from the broadcast episodes.
The series is fast paced, engaging and realistic.
The characters, even the antagonists, are likable and intriguing.
You get a realistic view of the executive branch of the US government (Okay, so the current administration doesn't measure up to the Bartlet staff. But you get an idea of how they operate).
Beautiful presentation of a truly great show.......2007-08-13
I missed most of The West Wing when it was originally on TV. I liked those few bits and pieces I saw, but didn't appreciate that something far, far better than usual TV fare was being presented. When I started renting the few DVDs that were available at my local video store my family and I viewed episodes that were as good as good as feature motion pictures - and even the weakest episodes are good.
The problem was that the store had fewer than a third of all episodes. So we bit the bullet and reluctantly put out about $180, I think, for the entire series - money, as it turns out, that was extremely well spent.
The West Wing is arguably the greatest drama ever to appear on American television. This is a series I'll keep forever, and hand down to my children. It is entertaining, educational, and simply a delight to watch. At a more abstract level, TV has so much junk that it is also heartwarming to be reminded of the potential value of the medium. The West Wing is written, acted, and staged brilliantly. I can't praise it highly enough.
Forty-five DVDs - seven seasons - and about 130 episodes are neatly organized in a classy portfollio-like case. I'd like to express my deepest appreciation to the show's creator, Aaron Sorkin, who is also responsible for the movie, "The American President," and to everyone associated with the show.
The price is a bargain.
Great value.......2007-08-13
After receiving quotes at four times the Amazon price, even after settling up customs and tax in South Africa - this package is great value. My first Amazon order gets 5 stars.
The show content we are familiar with and that too gets 5*****.
Highly recommended.

I used to watch these movies as a kid and after Mr. Knotts passed away decided to look for them on DVD. This is a nice pack and I still found them all very funny and fun to watch with or without the kids. I could have lived without The Love God, but the others are priceless in my opinion.

The product is in excellent shape, great quality! Better than watching them when they first came out. Don Knotts is always a superb choice when looking for family entertainment although "The Love God" not your typical Don Knotts fair, is also very enjoyable. Lots of wonderful lessons in his movies. You can't go wrong with this package and extremely affordable.

Ashes to ashes..........2007-09-07
One of the reviewers (pele5474) said it best when she said, "You don't just watch the show, you invest in it emotionally." I'm a fan of several other HBO series to include Deadwood, Carnivale, The Wire, Entourage, and my wife still raves about Sex in the City. As an overseas contractor, we don't have cable. And while we do get the Armed Forces Network (AFN) it doesn't compare to HBO (not that I'm complaining). Because of that, we usually buy the series and watch the whole thing within a couple of weeks. I also love the special features portion of the disk, because it uncovers the process. In retrospect, each one of the series offers something different, and in many cases, something special, but none of them slow roasts as much emotion from the viewer as Six Feet Under. Even Sex in the City lets you off the hook emotionally, by providing closure with each episode. More than most other shows, the flaws in the characters of SFU somehow allow you to consciously embrace and enjoy your imperfections. It also connects us all through our flaws, regardless of ethnic or economic background and/or education achievement. Life is a finite gift and we all open the doors of tomorrow, hoping for the best and sometimes, all is well, unfortunately though, it doesn't always go as planned. It's not bad and it's not good, it's just life. And that's where SFU, which introduces each episode with the end of someone's life, is so compelling. The subtle fragrance of our passions and the bold decisions born therein are forever stamped on our life and those in our lives to the very end. For better or worse those choices and decisions shape this world. And rarely does a television program honestly address so many of these everyday issues with such integrity. In the end, there's a bit of SFU in all of us.
My favorite characters live on............2007-09-05
The best show on TV ever is now mine forever whenever I want to watch.
The box is clever and the photos enclosed are perfect. The family tree is such a treat.
Mine came damaged and this was my first order from Amazon. They were great! They sent a replacement right away and paid my shipping fee for the return. I was so worried, for nothing!
Amazon, you are fantastic.
SFU reigns!
shows like this don't come around too often.......2007-09-03
This one is special. As a rule I don't watch tv, but this was recommended to me, and I borrowed it from the library, and I think this was really worth watching.
nothing like it.......2007-09-02
no television series has ever captured my attention as this series has. six feet under has raised the bar for television programming. i miss these characters. if it weren't for the season finale, i might wonder how they were all coming along. i'm still attached to sia's breathe me. if you haven't yet, check it out. if you are a newbie to 6FU, be patient, this isn't for the csi, law and order kinda tv folks. you have to think a little......and wonder. i found myself relating to each character in some way.
A plot synopsis is NOT a review!.......2007-08-15
A plot synopsis is not a review. When you publish a review in a magazine you must analyze what is being reviewed. Maybe even add something new. To merely summarize the plot and say you love it is not a review. To post synopses of shows on Amazon is doubly ridiculous given that almost everyone who reads reviews on Amazon has already seen what they're reading about! Now, Six Feet Under. Let me first say that it has always amazed me how much more hype The Sopranos and Dead Wood get when Six Feet Under is far superior to either one. I can rarely stomach television. Six Feet Under is so well done however that it plays more like an extremely well-made film than a TV show (yeah, a 63-hour movie)! (It was, by the way, predominately filmed by movie directors, not TV directors.) As many reviewers here have stated, it also has a LOT to say about life. Here are the show's main lessons, as I see them: Your life is the present. If you dwell on the past you might as well be dead, like Ruth sitting at the Formica kitchen table like a zombie before she realized she needs to let go. People behave in patterns, and they cycle through the same patterns throughout their life. If you look at this cycle with a narrow view it may create the illusion that this person is changing. If you take a wider view you see they are really just cycling through the same pattern. People therefore seldom ever change. It is very difficult to break a pattern. Nate for instance never changed. The minute he was with someone he lost all interest in them, as Ruth said would be the case in the first season. Nate was looking for someone to change him. He never found someone that could. Brenda made this clear when she basically said that Nate is a bad person and he is searching for someone who can make him feel like a better person than he really is. Recognize people for who they are. If a person's limitations outstretch their intentions, failure will result. Take for instance George's promise to care for Ruth. He may have wanted to, but he was incapable of actually doing it. The perfect is the enemy of the good. If you're waiting for things to be perfect, like Nate, then you'll never be happy because no moment is ever perfect. Also, happiness is not a destination; it's not something you "arrive" at. If you're not happy now, having a kid or getting married is not going to make you happy. It's not so much the way things are in the world that's your problem, but how you react to the world. There wasn't really some hooded killer terrorizing David. David was terrorizing himself. He had a naïve view of reality and needed to realize that that is not the way the world really is. At first I thought Nate would move home and bring his family together, proving to be a strong and intelligent, even philosophical person, ready to help strangers through their grieving. It slowly became apparent that Nate was a self-obsessed, shallow narcissist who really didn't care about anyone else but himself and his own internal, petty drama. The Fishers were all hung up on the past. (And notice that their Father only said to them what they were imagining.) Redecorating the 50s style house was symbolic of finally moving on, of letting go of the past and embracing the present. Many people see families where the grown children are always around the parents, where they talk all the time, every day even, and think, "Gee, that's such a nice family; they're all so close to each other." Actually this is typically a sign that the family is dysfunctional. In healthy families parents encourage their children to become adults and leave the nest, emotionally as well as physically. Ruth realizes this when she forbids Claire to make the same mistakes she did. (By the way, was it just me or did the timeline of this show simply not gel? Watching the events in the show and listening to characters state how much time passed between events it seems that six or more years passed from season one to season five. However, looking at the dates at the beginning of each show, only four years passed!) For those who want to know (MEGA SPOILER AHEAD), here's how long each character lived as revealed in the series finale (one of the greatest hours of television programming in the history of the medium): Nate: 40yrs, Ruth: 79yrs, Keith: 61yrs, David: 75yrs, Rico: 75yrs, Brenda: 82yrs and Claire: 102yrs! By the way, in Claire's death scene if you look quick there's an amusing mistake (or joke?) hanging among her photo montage on her wall. It's a picture of David and Keith with their arms around each other, but Keith is young and David is in his 70s! And yes, it ends with Claire driving off toward the horizon. Show creator Alan Ball wanted to make it clear that Claire is the only one who escapes the Fisher family and their dysfunction. That's why, when she leaves, the Fishers are out of focus; they are already fading from her memory. That is also why Nate, who is shown in the mirror trying to catch up to her, is left behind. The influence of the family is left behind and Claire goes on to experience a full and rich life. Notice that for others, things never change. At 82 Brenda is STILL taking care of Billy, and if you pay close attention (or listen to Ball's commentary) you'll hear that then, in his 80s, Billy is STILL bitching about Ted, and he literally (according to writer Ball) bores poor Brenda to death. And yes of course, the MAIN point of the show: Western civilization is a death-denying culture. We watch endless movies that show people getting killed, trivializing death, and yet most of us in real life fail to face death realistically. We fail to realize that death is as natural a part of life as birth, that everybody dies, that you don't know when it will happen and that accepting all of this is part of living a full life. We are not prepared to die and we treat death so seriously that we're afraid to laugh at it, hence all the darkly comic death scenes at the beginning of each episode. Alan Ball wanted the show to demonstrate that we are all connected in that we are all mortal; it does not behoove anyone to pretend they are immortal. As Nate says in the show, our mortality makes life important. Everything ends. If we lasted forever nothing would matter. Six Feet Under seriously raised the bar for all television to come, almost demanding that TV airs more serious, reflective and intelligent shows with a heightened sense of realism.

"You can't kill the bogeyman," the children insist to a terrorized Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in the original Halloween. How right they are. Laurie is gone, but guess who's back in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers? Acting as if the third entry never existed, this installment picks up 10 years after the original, with mad maniac Myers in a coma and moved to a new facility. But wouldn't you know it that as soon as a loose-lipped orderly lets slip that Myers has a surviving niece he springs back into action, leaving a bloody trail of corpses on the road to Haddonfield. Donald Pleasance returns as Dr. Loomis, scarred and crippled from his last encounter with Myers and seething with a fanatical zeal to stop the freak from repeating his previous rampage. Pleasance is the best thing about the film as an aging hero seemingly on the verge of madness who drags a bum leg in his manic rush to save little orphan Jamie (Danielle Harris), the 10-year-old waif terrorized by her homicidal uncle. Director Dwight Little has managed a generic if professional slasher picture, rife with improbabilities and dominated by a killer whose superhuman powers reach near-mystical dimensions, but he delivers the goods: shocks, stabs, and cold, cruel killings. --Sean Axmaker
Description
TEN YEARS AGO, HE CHANGED THE FACE OF HALLOWEEN. TONIGHT, HE'S BACK. A decade ago, he butchered 16 people trying to get to his sister. He was shot and incinerated, but still the entity that Dr. Sam Loomis (the legendary Donald Pleasence) calls "Evil on two legs" would not die. Tonight, Michael Myers has come home again
to kill! This time, Michael returns to Haddonfield for Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris of HALLOWEEN 5 and THE LAST BOY SCOUT) - the orphaned daughter of Laurie Strode - and her babysitter Rachel (Ellie Cornell of HALLOWEEN 5 and HOUSE OF THE DEAD). Can Loomis stop Michael before the unholy slaughter reaches his innocent young niece? Michael Pataki, Sasha Jenson and Kathleen Kinmont co-star in this smash sequel that marked the long-awaited return to the original storyline and remains infamous for its startling twist ending and graphic violence.

Michael's Back!!!.......2007-08-01
I have to say, I love the Halloween series! This is my favorite sequal. It takes the story ten years into the future, and has plenty of chills, kills, and thrills to go around. Then ending is awesome! Yes it's a sequal, it's not better than the original, but it's still really good!
It's Good.......2007-07-30
This is probably easily the best in the still going series of Halloween slasher films. Michael Meyers returns as the unstoppable killer in this well acted, predictable stalk and slash film. It's only rival for best sequel in this series is the sixth entry which explains Meyers' origins.
It isn't a man.......2007-06-26
This is still the sequel to Halloween 2 over H20 for me. Dannielle Harris is just brilliant in this film at such a young age. Donald also delivers as usual. this brought the franchise to new heights and spawned two more good sequels.
The Return of Michael Myers.......2007-06-18
This movie is a great sequal and is one of my favorites. Lot of suspenes in this one and has a great storyline. my recomenation is to buy it.
A Great Horror Film........2007-06-17
Halloween 4 is an excellent horror film and most certainly one of the best in the Halloween series. This film isnt quite like a lot of horror films around the time it was made and now because it doesnt really rely on blood and gore to scary the piss out of you. It mostly relys on the atmosphere of a dark night and the music. Thats what great horror films are all about is if they can scare you without even showing anything that is remotely scary. This film is an example of that concept. The script, the acting, and the score are incredible. Especially for a horror film. Ive noticed after seeing many horror films that this movie feels like Jaws or Gone With the Wind in terms of quality of every single aspect within it. The shape is performed very good here. The mask is cool as well, unlike what many people say. Here we find the greatest ending of any other Halloween film and one of the best ever filmed. Very good script that is pretty tight through the entire movie. This is a fantastic horror film that still amazes viewers because its aging very well. Highly recommended.
